Grapevine is the spot for breakfast in Belfast, couldn't have been more impressed. The food was delicious - everything you'd want in a hearty morning meal. The portions were generous, and the ingredients all seemed fresh and quality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed. Grapevine is incredibly affordable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It's a real gem! Overall, 5 stars all around!

Good wee spot cheap eats. Quick service. Cajun ciabatta very good. Staff friendly. Don't see why people have commented about food being reheated due to lack of kitchen, my ciabatta was crispy and fresh. Besides many like Starbucks, Nero and greggs all have prepack sandwiches that they reheat and unlike the one from grapevine, are a soggy, greasy, overpriced mess.

Brilliant wee spot. Been wanting to try grapevine for years but was always packed out. Got there today after 12 and got a seat indoors no problem. (It only sits about 16 indoors) They are very reasonably priced with sandwiches or hot baguettes. The creole chicken baguette was lovely, with plenty of filling and not too much sauce. The stew was reported delicious and even came with wheaten bread. The Tea was the nicest I have had anywhere in a long time and all this for £16. Staff were lovely and very friendly. We will definitely be back, I could everything on the menu. Spoiled for choice.

Called in for breakfast based on a quick search. Turns out everyone was right. Great filling breakfast for me (grapevine breakfast) and my wife (scrambled eggs beans and toast). No downside, food was good and reasonably priced, staff were friendly, service was quick. I would highly recommend - we ate about 11am and had no need for lunch as we stayed full until tea time.

Usually never disappoints, that’s until now. We had been left shocked after hearing that all the food on the menu apart from the porridge and the sandwiches are prepared off the premises and purchased from outside caterers. The Cafe itself has no working kitchen. It is simply a cafe that reheats other caterers food. Disappointed learning the warm hearty food we once enjoyed on our annual Christmas trip is simply reheated in a microwave or blasted in a small oven and prepared by outside sources. There’s nothing original “it’s just reheated food” as we shockingly overheard. The staff had no issues discussing the businesses affairs amongst themselves which led to anyone listening overhearing their conversations. No focus on their surroundings.

My wife enjoyed the chili and baked potato as well as the porridge. I thought the 'special' quaesillas were flavourless and must have been microwaved as tortilla was hard in places. Similarly, the full breakfast was essentially reheated and lacked flavour. The reheating as opposed to feshly cooked explains the fast service, but they lose as a result. I would recommend to avoid anything that needs reheating and stick with stews that just need to be kept warm.

I was visiting Belfast (which was a surprisingly beautiful, interesting and friendly city by the way) and I needed to recharge batteries between two guided walks. I just happened to find this lovely little place and I'm so glad I did. I had a delicious lentil and chickpeas Dahl with rice. The staff were super friendly. I really enjoyed my lunch. If I'm in Belfast again I will make sure I eat there 😋

Walked in to be greeted by a rude gentleman who grunted ‘hello’ at us. Straight away it made us feel unwelcome. It doesn’t cost to smile! The food was ok, nothing special. Most of it was pre-cooked and warmed up. The scrambled eggs I ordered where cooked in a container giving me the strong impression that they were possibly microwaved. They were then brought out and tipped onto my plate leaving a watery deposit underneath them making my toast soggy and not very enjoyable to eat. I asked for sauce and was brought one sachet which was barely enough. Whilst eating I witnessed the same man (staff) be rude and blunt towards other people browsing the menu. When we stood up to leave nobody said Thank-you or have a nice day, again this costs nothing. It’s nice to be nice. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody!

Very cozy little cafe, food was lovely, actually the coffee was great. Experience was spoiled slightly by the ignorant man at the window who thought it would be a appropriate to come into a restaurant and remove his runners in tiny room and allow the rest of the dinners to waft his feet. It made me so angry to see and smell. That said cafe was lovely, staff lovely. Can’t account for ignorance.

A no nonsense eatery where the focus is on putting out excellent quality food. In a city which is becoming more pretentious by the year an honest and friendly place like this most welcome. Don't let the simplicity of the decor etc put you off! The quality of the food is right up there with anything you'll find. We had the beef strew and the prawn and chicken gumbo, both were delicious and came with lovely homemade bread. For me this place really was a great find and I will most definitely be back.

After walking round Belfast for approx 1 hr looking for somewhere that catered for Gluten-free breakfast, now tired snd very hungry!!!! About to give up when we stumbled upon a small jewel in a big city - Grapevine- From the moment my sister asked “ do u cater for gluten free breakfast”? we were greeted with smiles and the word we had t heard all day YES!!!!. Not only did they have gluten free bread the lady was very aware of coeliac disease snd told me she would use the oven so my bread wasn’t contaminated. What can I say after about my gf breakfast other than absolutely delicious. A massive massive thank you to the Staff of Grapvine, Pottingers Entry Belfast. Please everyone out there who reads this review go snd support this cafe/restaurant as somewhere like this really deserves our support in these uncertain times

Totally recommend this place. Was visiting from Manchester and staying nearby so just found it by accident. Chicken and prawn gumbo was really tasty but didn’t really need bread side...bit of salad would have been better in my opinion. The pinto bean quesadilla was also a big hit. Tea and coffee were good too. This place is quite understated but despite the lack of frills, believe me the food is good. Also had a very varied menu and very efficient service even with all the COVID precautions.

What can I say: the food is delicious and the portions generous, the prices are amazingly low for the high quality Grapevine provides, the place is colourful and cosy, you're not asked if you would like to order something else every 10 minutes (so it's a perfect place to stay and chill), the people working are always nice even when the place is packed (which is the case at almost every lunchtime). The owner noticed I was new to the city (going for an 8 days trip for the first time in Belfast), and we chatted for a while. I forgot my records when leaving, and he very kindly got to me to give them back. This place makes you feel like home (although I'm from France), and I could definitely see myself coming and hang there every day of my life. My only regret is the music (if a regret it is): Grapevine is a place with soul, some Marvin Gaye records could definitely add some extra color and flavour to this enchanting place! I strongly and warmly recommend this place right in the city centre, where you can have a good time, eat breathtakingly good food anytime of the day!

I suggested this cafe for my birthday breakfast as the reviews were so good. Fair to say, the food was okay - the porridge was lovely, the breakfast baguette and bagel okay, the tea good and the prices reasonable. However, there was a distinct lack of welcome and friendliness shown to us and given how quiet the cafe was, it needed this to give the cafe something to remember. Overall, a little disappointed.

Had 'French Hunters stew'. Almost impossibly large. puy lentils, potato, chunks of bacon, in some sort of stock/soup, and bread. £4.95. The rest of the stuff looked excellent including a massive lasagne. Well worth it, and not filled with all the usual normal lunch time...

I'm a lunch regular here. Small and comfy spot in a quiet alley, nice staff, tasty local food with some different twist as well. Love their soups. Definitely a place I'd recommend!

We were very pleased to have this place recommended, it's so refreshing to have actual options for vegetarians instead of the usual bowl of pasta or dreary mushroom with any old thing. And it's deicious, and a lot cheaper than expected! (We had baked potato,...

Really good food, you can tell its good quality food and the menu has been well thought out. The queue gets long but the staff are very quick. I would recommend the soups and the gumbo is a big hit in my office!

We always go into grapevine for a quick lunch on Saturday. The specials are great value and really appreciate the good service. Last time we went I had chilli, rice and bread it was great. There are also good muffins and tea.

Maggie Mays was recommeded to us before we came to Belfast. It was a five minute walk from the hotel and our first stop after arriving at lunchtime. The service was fab, the food was amazing. Hubbies had the Titanic burger and I had the soup of the day which was Chicken and veg. I have not tasted soup like it since I was a little girl. Absolutely delicious, the bread served with it was lovely too, more like cake....fine with me!

I was in Belfast last December for the first time…. (I am from Cork) the breakfast experience started in the queue waiting for a seat, it was a cold Sunday December morning, when staff handed out little hot chocolates (for free), went in ordered, paid. The staff were SO NICE, SO FRIENDLY, SO SOUND and had a great sense of humour!!! The food was 12/10 absolutely not one fault. It was by far the nicest breakfast I have ever eaten out!! I think about it regularly hence the review almost a year later. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to go again. Food, customer service and setting 12/10.

We went to the Merchant Hotel for a pre dinner birthday drink as a treat around 4.30pm our dinner was booked for 5.15pm. Our table had the reminants of the previous party, empty glasses and half eaten nibbles. A waiter came and took our order but didn't bother to clear or clean the table. He then took an order for a couple beside us. The couple beside us were swiftly served a pot of tea with nibbles and glasses of water. At 5.05pm I went to the bar area and advised we haven't received our order and we were ready to leave. The drinks arrived at 5.10pm delivered to the drink stained table which we literally had to drink in one go as we were going to be late for our meal and over £30 worse off! Lots of suited staff walking back and forwards looking important but not really doing very much. Maybe when you see customers looking around for assistance you might want to try and help. Service appalling for a Saturday afternoon, dread to think what the evening service is like! Disappointing start to a birthday celebration.

Went on Wednesday 29th Nov. Food was amazing as always and the two girls serving were exceptional. My son is special needs and they interacted so well with him. He is non verbal (one word answers sometimes) but they asked him what he would like and he replied chicken. They were extremely helpful, pleasant and very welcoming. So thank you for our experience as we don’t get to do family meals often.

Great place to stop by for a drink and snack. We had the Irish coffee, Baileys coffee and Strawberry Lime Cider (alcohol free). We did not have food, but passed us looked and smelled great. Please tip Stuart so his kids can eat!
