Review edit: see the response from the bar below. The owner can't read it seems. No wonder our experience was so bad. At 8:50 someone in front of us at the bar ordered food. Went to look at the menu and were informed the kitchen closed at 8:30. Put this on your website and be consistent with customers. No reason to let some people order but not others.

We didn't stay at the hotel but we had a meal Wednesday evening and loved it so much that we went back Thursday as well. Delicious 😋 food at affordable prices and very good service!

Visited for dinner one night as we were staying nearby. Nice little spot, veggie lasagna was delicious! Good portion size too! A plate Garfield would love.

Disappointed, ordered food 5.45pm starters came and waiter asked if we need cutlery 🙄 we finished our starters and nobody came to check on us (in the garden/outside area) waited for ages until went to ask where are our mains, and our deserts came before our mains! the waiter had attitude and argued with us that there is a problem in the kitchen and still wanted to leave our deserts on the table but we refused. not sure how this place got top 10 place of best pubs to visit in Great Britain with such appaling service. Did they know they will be reviewed? how? top 10?!!!! what? 😃 toilets without toilet paper, men vaping in mens toilets list go on for the top 10 pubs to visit 😀

Newly Renovated Terrace. Plenty of choices of local food. Nice portions. Bar service staff is friendly, prices are very fair! Book in advance, its a popular spot, for a good reason

Popped in for swift half on my travels. Was well worth the small detour through the beautiful village of maentrwog. A couple of ales on and does food. Has a games room and outside seating with shelter m.Lots of character. Recommended 🍻 🎱 🎯 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

An overall ok experience but we had an absolute nightmare on arrival trying to park because although our booking said ‘free parking’ they only had a tiny car park and it was full, meaning we had to drive around and around for over 20 minutes looking for somewhere to park which was very stressful. I think if advertised ‘free parking’ and you have a booked room you should have a guaranteed spot because otherwise guests with luggage might have to park miles away which wouldn’t be appropriate for most people, especially older people or those with a lot of luggage. Luckily eventually we were able to find a spot on the side of the road and moved the car into the car park later on that evening when a space opened up.

Typical Welsh place, lots of choice of different beers. Excellent food.

Took our elderly parents here for dinner whilst they were visiting us. Had a fabulous meal as always - very welcomimg, friendly staff and great food (and big portions!) 😋. Excellent value for money. Diolch yn fawr

Had a great night in a 1 bed cottage at the rear of the main hotel. Food was delicious and a warm friendly welcome from all the hard working staff, thank you, will definitely be back for a longer stay.

An amazing place enjoy it a lot

We ate in the restaurant and made sure we booked in advance. The food was excellent with generous portions so we had to share a dessert! Service was attentive and friendly. Worth noting that if you do reserve a table you can go and find it straight away without having to go to the bar as your name is on the little card they put out.

Had a family birthday meal (8 of us) here in April, food was really good, locally sourced meat etc and spot on, (minted lamb burger from butchers in Bala was excellent). Lovely setting watching the steam train run on the side of the mountain. Loads of outdoor seating so will look forward to going back on a sunnier day. Staff were very friendly and I highly recommend but may need to phone & reserve as I think its quite popular owing to reasonable price and good quality food.

Delicious meal really friendly atmosphere and generally a great stop if you are checking out Wales. I had the lamb and it was incredible and what a fantastic portion size!

Long weekend for a 30th anniversary with friends. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable . Food was gorgeous, fairly priced and plentiful. Bar well stocked. All staff were amazing, we all had a brilliant time, thanks to ever employee! Ti'n werth y byd!

Lovely pub bed and breakfast. The food was great. Breakfast was fresh and hot when it arrived. Staff are very helpful and friendly . Furniture may be upgraded in the bedroom and a mattress topper needed as could feel springs and lumps.

We booked a table for 3 in advance and I recommend doing this as they were fully booked. We had nachos as a shared starter for 3 people (plenty of food for 3 people), then the steak and ale pie, and vegetarian bangers and mash. This was all delicious! The staff are incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed our time there. So much so we went twice.

Me and my mum came for a Sunday dinner over the Easter break and once again, the service and food was exceptional. I was going to opt for the carvery but was too tempted by the pie that was on the menu. Good was delicious & the waitress was super friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Photo attached of the pie - would recommend!

Absolutely beautiful meal there. Possibly the best burger I've ever had. The staff are lovely as well. They couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for such an amazing meal. Will definitely be back, and will hopefully get to experience the hotel next time.

Stayed here for 2 nights after biking at Coed Y Brenin. Bike storage, great food, service, staff. The rooms were spacious, spotless with comfortable beds. A great place to stay.

Had a two night stop here in Maentwrog (still no idea how to pronounce it🤔). Everything suited us, the warm welcome, accomodation, food, staff and Welsh beer! Its a very busy spot and deservedly so in my opinion. Thank you Grapes hotel

Just had an evening meal here whilst staying in the area and were very pleased we did! The location is superb and there are stunning views across the mountains from the restaurant. There was a great choice of meals, portions were good sized and the cheesecake we ordered was the biggest I've ever seen! Service was also efficient and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
