What a beautiful day and what a view. Welcome on arrival was superb. However after having been seated, we had to ask for a menu, no one came to take our order so we ordered ourselves at the bar. Firstly the wrong wine was delivered but this was exchanged. No one asked to either taste the wine or to pour, we did this ourselves. One drink was forgotten another trip to the bar. First time this has ever happened so quite disappointing on this occasion.

Joined friends for Saturday afternoon tea. The food was just above average and the tea was cold. Three of our cups were dirty with lipstick marks. The service was really poor. Particularly as this is a five star hotel. We were visiting expecting to be treated as special guests, not as though we were sitting in the local cafe. It really took away from the experience. The hotel itself is beautiful but guests need to be made to feel special if you’re in a special place.

Enjoyed our time at Turnberry. Staff were friendly and service was customer oriented. Loved the cheese scones. Gin tea was very good, as was Jack in his willingness to make alternative cocktails. Jennifer was very helpful in setting up our afternoon tea booking too.

Haven’t been since Covid so was really looking forward to our visit but was really disappointed. The food was mediocre at best, gone is the tea trolley with the selection of loose teas to choose from instead after waiting what seemed an age with our food we asked for the tea the server just said what kind would you like no advice or menu for the different types so English breakfast was chosen and the tea bag in a pot duly arrived. Turnbury have certainly dropped the ball. For the prices that are charged they really need to up their game.

We booked Afternoon Tea in the Grand Tea Lounge. This is a beautiful area, that is clearly seem when you walk into the hotel. We had taken Afternoon Tea there when we stayed last year and it was wonderful. However, on this occassion we were directed to a room between the Grand Tea Lounge and the 1902, where Afternoon Tea was being served. This room did not compare with the other area, it appeared to be a room that was used for overspill from the 1902 or for funcitions. It certainly didn't create the wonderful atmosphere the Grand Tea Lounge did and had we known where we were having tea we might not have even had tea. The Afternoon Tea itself was pleasant, but my husband has a cheese allergy and I asked if the item with cheese could be separate. The result was that I got no Goat's Cheese Tart or Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese. We were given a Salmon Wheel, but only 1. I guess it was better than being given the items with cheese but the whole atmosphere was disappointing. I cannot fault the service or food we got but we were both disappointed with the atmosphere and the room and I was disappointed I missed out on some of my favourite foods.

We booked Afternoon Tea here and we weren't disappointed. We were offered a choice of teas. My husband had Peppermint and I chose Blackberry and Lavender, which was delicious. I also upgraded my Tea to have a glass of bubbly, which was an extra £18, but well worth it, as it was a large glass of wine and very enjoyable. The waiter asked if there were any allergies or any foods we didn't like, before he brought the tea to us. We had a selection of sandwiches and the bottom plates, and the upper plates had cakes on them. When we finished the bottom plate hot scones were bought out, with jam and cream. Service was very relaxed but we were served well by Emil.

On earlier visits, some 45+ and more recently 35+ years ago, the afternoon tea was outstanding, with unlimited sandwiches and marvellous cakes.Back then, this cost £25. Today, for £35, it is still magnificent, but not quite as extensive, though, nevertheless, still too much. As such, a visit even just for tea, overlooking the ocean, is an experience worth having.

We were 8 for afternoon tea. Sat at nice sized table in dining room next to 1906 restaurant not in the Grand Tea Lounge. Very attentive staff. The quality of the tea and the food was beyond reproach. Too much food in fact but no issue to ask for boxes to take leftovers away. Small issue with time taken from ordering to receiving but we were busy catching up so wasn’t too much of an issue. Can highly recommend.

Location and visuals when having afternoon tea is great here, plus the ability to bring a dog and sit by fireplace is slick and very flexible. This place is dog friendly if you mention in advance. The food itself is on the mark and each part of the afternoon tea is full of flavour and very very good indeed. It is at times a work of art with a taste that backs up the visuals. A few bits lets it all down and worth considering if planning a visit as they seem consistent with other reviews: Mainly the service is below standard. It isn’t attentive enough. Our waitress got all our pots of tea mixed up plus one tea was wrong. There seemed way too few people on duty at this part of the hotel compared to other parts. Plus little things like never filling up my tea etc; Not attentive enough. We were also not asked about dietary requirements at the start, which is surprising as normally establishments triple check this on ordering. Things were a bit slow too but this didn’t bother me too much but worth considering if you are someone that has time constraints. Overall the food is the lighthouse beacon on which makes this experience worthy of doing, even with a few shortcomings around the edges.

Scones eventually delivered by Luke. What was wrong with the other staff going to collect. Also requested more hot water again this was delivered by Luke and not the other member of staff that we asked. However a pleasant afternoon spent here in nice surroundings and not too pricey

I was really nervous going in, feeling I wouldn’t fit in the atmosphere. We decided to walk up the steps from the car park across the road....It’s a lot of steps but as you go up it’s just amazing. We walked through and asked someone if we could get a cup of tea. They made us feel so welcome and popped us by the window. Absolutely stunning views even on such a rainy day. We ordered tea, which was served lovely and had the timer explained, it was lovely and peaceful just sat chatting and taking in the view out the window. I asked someone where the toilets were and was greeted by the reply in don’t know’ and they had to ask another member of staff who directed me. The toilets were beautiful and sparkling clean. We decided to stay for a sweet treat, so asked for the menu. We were given a leather book that you display the bill in rather than the menu. After sling another person they bought the menu over. We both ordered sundaes. I had ‘Queen ur’ and my partner had the one with whiskey, we both thought they were the nicest ice cream we had had. Defiantly 5*

Having previously enjoyed an afternoon tea here we returned today for a family birthday. We were extremely disappointed with the experience. On arrival at 2pm we waited at our table for 30minutes before having our tea served. The tea was not hot and we had to ask to have it replaced. We waited a full 50 minutes before we were served with our food. During this time other tables were seated and served tea and food. The food was delicious but the length of wait for food was unacceptable and the tea was really very poor quality being lukewarm and very weak. The waiters could do with a few lessons in the art of making tea. Very disappointed.

Having eaten afternoon tea at both The Savoy and The Ritz, while in Scotland I had to try Turnberry. Booked six months ahead requesting a table with a view - booking was confirmed by e-mail (very impressed) following my telephone call.Lovely welcome at the door by a charming gentleman called Jimmy, dressed in a very smart tartan uniform. He asked my name and our reason to visit Turnberry, and took us to the appropriate dining room. A very special experience and felt very priviliged to be there.Staff were highly attentive and sat us where I requested, infront of the windows overlooking the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig - perfect. Our waiter explained the various tiers of the cake stand and we chose our tea from a selection in a box which was prepared infront of us. Everything was delightful. The tea was delicious including all the various treats. I cannot recommend Turnberry Afternoon Tea enough - staff are charming and it was a wonderful experience. Thank you everyone involved, it was simply lovely and something I will not forget following my return to Ayr and the meeting of a friend not seen for over 40 years.

Had a lovely lunch there last week. Food was lovely and tasty. Service was good. Lovely afternoon. However I think people should not sit in their bathrobes having lunch. People get dressed up to have a nice lunch whilst other people sit in their bathrobe that are a bit reveling.I am sure Turnberry would not like everyday guests to turn up in their sleep wear for lunch. Very crowded in the tea lounge whilst other rooms with tables are not being used. Please Turnberry use other rooms and give people space without the bathrobes. Its an insult for people that make an effort. We dont want to see people without their clothes on .

Trump Turnberry has got to be the place to go for afternoon tea with superb service in a most delightful atmosphere. From the greeting on arrival, being shown to your table, and the 'top notch' service from the waitresses, all the way through to the delicious sandwiches, warm scones (with thick cream and jam), and the unbelievably rich and extremely tasty cakes. My wife and I were treated with respect, courtesy and made to feel very special. It was a real treat, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff who dealt with us, did so in a kind, and friendly way, but were not intrusive. We were given time to enjoy our afternoon, we were not rushed in any way, and the Turnberry blend tea has got to be a must for me next time we go. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

I was given a prosseco afternoon tea as a gift and it didn't disappoint. I am not a fan of the man but his hotel is superb. Staff were attentive and responsive to requests and all guests were treated with great respect. Prosseco was swapped for soft drinks on request and tea was quickly provided. Not the usual finger sandwiches, instead mini savouries including goats cheese and tomato pastries and drop scones with ham hock and horseradish. All delicious. Scones with jam and cream were served after the savouries and I expected this to be due to them being warmed but this was not the case. Bit disappointed with that. Another two tea selections were provided and we tucked into the patisserie selection. Mouthwatering crisp pastry tarts, opera cake, raspberry and pistachio cake etc. Too good. Couldn't even attempt the Dundee cake and carrot cake. Staff provided us, and most other diners, with our leftovers in a box to take home. Eye popping array of teas on the menu and good options on coffee too. Lovely, peaceful atmosphere and luxurious setting. Views from our window table to please even the most discerning customer. Lovely real fire in the front entrance 'hall'' but few seats in this area. Never asked if more tea was wanted, or champagne or water. Scones were meant to be included, they just forgot to bring them. My friend and I had afternoon tea as part of a spa day. We had a window table and the view is beautiful. Afternoon tea was good quality with service which was attentive without being in your face. I am a bit obsessed with afternoon tea and have tried most of the big London venues and so the only thing I would say is you have to share some of the cakes rather than having an identical selection each which I prefer. Would definitely go back if I can bear the trump aspect (was in full flow the day we were there with the trump helicopter landing on the grass outside and some of Eric trumps "business associates" arriving)

5* from first to last. friendly staff who know their jobs inside out and wonderful food. This was a Mother's day treat and what a treat it was. The dining room has such a beautiful view and Sunday was the perfect day to enjoy it. Thank you to all.

Afternoon tea was the best ever, there were so many flavours and choices in the savories as well as sweet options, I could not fault one thing. Refills of tea provided as well. Oh the pianist is a fabulous touch The surroundings and views are worth visiting for alone

Had a lovely time, the staff were fantastic, friendly, polite and efficient from the minute we arrived at the door until we left. The food was excellent and plentiful, didn't manage to eat it all but not a problem they put it in a box and gave us it to take home. Thank you to the chefs for the excellent food they prepared, definitely value for money.

After arriving, we were rather peckish and decided on tea and scones for lunch as we had arranged dinner reservations and didn't want to spoil our appetites. Tea was piping hot and the scones were delicious, various jams and marmalades provided so every taste should be catered for. I am intending on returning with my daughter and high tea will certainly be on the menu x

My sister, my husband and I brought our Aunt here for afternoon tea for her 80th birthday. From the moment we arrived, until we left, we could not have asked for more. The staff are truly exceptional. The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious. My husband has Coeliac's Disease and was able to send his thanks to the kitchen for being able to provide such an excellent selection of items for him. My Aunt was truly impressed with this treat and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Thank you so much for making our day so special. We have experienced afternoon tea at both The Savoy and The Ritz in London but Trump Turnberry was by far the best.

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon - sitting by he huge window overlooking the golf course and the sea.Staff are very attentive and professional. Coffee is provided with hot milk, and as I take my coffee very weak, and extra jug of hot milk that was provided meant I was happily drinking coffee for about an hour. My partner chose tea and that was an amazing experience as the tea trolley is brought over with he most magnificent choice of teas that you could dream of. The tea waiter was very knowledgable on what to try and very patient while we made the choice. Cups are fine china, teaspoons are dainty and sugar comes in delightful little sugar bowls all designed to make it a really special experience. We didn't eat and were happy just sipping our drinks and admiring the view.Free wi-fi for the duration you are there if you need it.Price is reasonable for the wonderful experience of sitting in the magnificent window area watching the view and there is no rush from any of the waiting staff that you feel you need to get out.Somewhere to take someone special or just go with good friends for a relaxing chat.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience.Friendly staff from the minute you walk out of your car till you get back in.Gorgeous views across the sea and excellent service in a pristine yet relaxing atmosphere. On arrival we were greeted at the door and taken to the Grand Tea Hall by a very polite young man. Once our reservation was confirmed we were shown to a beautifully laid table complete with crisp linen. Our sommelier arrived soon after with menus asking if we had any dietary requirements. After giving us time to peruse the menu she returned to our table and asked our preferences for refreshments and explained the experience for us. When our drinks and savouries arrived to our table she advised that after enjoying our savoury items then warm scones, cream and jam would follow with fresh plates. The choice of teas, coffees, cocktails and fizz was extensive. The sweet selection was exquisite. Will certainly return.

My friend and i stayed here for 1 night . The deal included 1 nights stay with afternoon tea and breakfast . On our arrival we had our bags taken by staff at the front door and we were then escorted to the tea room. Walking in its bright warm and a lovely view . As we were seated we were presented with an afternoon tea menu but no choice was offred apart from tea. A young member of staff offered us tea from a selection on a trolley. I opted for the turnberry blend and my friend had coffee. As the tea was served the menus were whisked away and a gent appeared with a 3 tier stand with cakes and savory pies and we were told the scones come later.just as we were about to tuck in a lady member of staff approached us and asked if we needed anything and we both said no she took a few steps back and stayed there until we left i really felt uncomfortable. The next morning as we were seated for breakfast the same lady appeared and hovered over us again constantly and by this point i was so angry i felt out of place and this totally ruined my stay .

Great views from here over the golf course and water. The cocktail menu is very good - so many to chose from. The lemon meringue'tini was particularly amazing. They have bar snacks too which are a lot classier than other places I've been - pate, battered haddock, haggis... All presented and served well.Afternoon tea is also available which looked good and we promised ourselves we would return for that next year!

Beautiful location, and we have enjoyed afternoon tea here before, however this time there seemed to be a lack of "theatre" associated with the event. My husband had to ask for lemon to go with his Earl Grey tea, the savouries were very dry and rather tasteless.....we didn't eat them.....the scones were rather dense, and the sandwiches which were asked for specifically were not crustless.... I know this may sound rather trivial, but afternoon tea is an affair, and not an inexpensive one, however unsure whether we would have it again

My better half and I were out for a drive taking in the scenery when I remembered that Turnberry was near by, we decided we would stop by for lunch, we parked around the back of the amazing main building and as we walked towards the front door we were approached by a member of what we assume was the concierge team who welcomed us and explained the different restaurants and invited us to walk around the hotel freely to have a look at the new renovations. we decided to just have a light lunch and have a sandwich in The Grand Tea Lounge. The service was great from the waiters and the waitresses who were really polite. the salmon toasted sandwich was really nice great flavour and the desserts we had were really nice. Only grumbles would be that the chips that accompanied the sandwich seemed to be like the ones from the bottom of a really cheap bag of frozen skinny fries. the waitress was really accommodating and changed the mistake in my better half's sandwich and after I told the waiter about the chips they kindly took one of the desserts off the bill due to the low standard. The service was great highly recommend on that alone and the food was good also with exceptions.

Decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea whilst in the area. Didnot disappoint one little bit.Despite no reservation we were shown to a window seat really swiftly. Staff could not have been more pleasant and attentive. Loved the theatre of the tea drawers and traditional samovar. Food was gorgeous and varied, couldn't finish it all but staff immediately offered to box food to take away with us. The views over the golf course and out to sea are fabulous. Would recommend afternoon tea at Turnberry as a special treat to anyone.

The famous Turnberry Afternoon Tea does not disappoint. The newly refurbished hotel is bright and welcoming, but the atmosphere totally relaxed. A choice of dozens of teas, and layers of savouries, scones and cakes. Just as well they offer to box up your leftovers to take away - you can rarely finish one of these! A great treat.

We were at the hotel over a weekend, not a big fan of afternoon teas - too many sweet cakes - so had bar snack instead. Limited choice but food OK. Problem was greasy tables and flies - a more professional approach is needed towards service and comfort before the guest experience will live up to the hotel's exceptional location and the recent investments that have enhanced the property.

Staying at TT for a few nights the GTL became our quiet haven in the Heart of the Hotel. One morning we just sat drinking Coffee whilst reading the Papers. Next day We had a superb light Lunch of sandwiches, Tea followed by a drink from the bar. On another day we returned from the Spa, still in Robes, and decided to have a glass of bubbly before heading upstairs to get changed for Dinner, 3/4 rounds of drink later we finally decided to move from our warm, cosy, serene surroundings! It is that good!

Went on a small adventure to Coylton Arms Inn. I have to say we will be back, the food is very good, a well seasoned lasagna with plenty of herbs, nice béchamel sauce and a good salad and french fries. The only small criticism was the lack of staff which made the wait slightly longer than necessary. The staff themselves were extremely welcoming and the ambiance was charming without being twee. Portion size was good without being excessive. All in all an enjoyable experience that I would recommend for a pub lunch.
