Family break away and we were looking for a cafe that was dog and wheelchair friendly .. and found here . Great find … staff helped to switch tables around to help with the dog and wheelchair .. as well as the best homemade soup tastes for a very long time ( mum said it was even better than hers) … dog biscuits and water at the ready ! So … I’ll f your visiting the area .. you won’t be disappointed . Took home some homemade strawberry tarts as well .. which were as good as they looked !

I visited tartan and tweeds this afternoon yo have a bit of luck before returning to work. There was 2 tables available and I was refused one because I was on my own by the owner. I was very embarrassed as it can take a lot of courage to sit and eat on your own. Also every surface is sticky because of the cleaning solution they use I think it's time they changed their products. I won't visit there again.

Some of the staff are polite and very helpful but one thinks it’s ok to swear at customers if she doesn’t agree with your comments and the boss allows her to get away with it and certainly not welcoming. My daughter made a complaint and I got alot of verbal abuse and this particular member of staff has a very low working of hygiene practice.

Whilst on lockdown, they have managed to keep going by serving wonderful takeaways. We have been a number of times and never disappointed. The quality is great. The quantity is enormous. In fact sometimes we could have shared one meal between two . Look out for specials, we had two roast beef dinners for the price of one, about two weeks ago. Marvellous. If you like good honest well cooked food, this is the place to be.Enjoy.

We stopped here on a very rainy day and the food soon cheered us up. It arrived piping hot, I had the lasagne which was served with salad, coleslaw and chips and my husband the roast beef dinner with roast potatoe, mashed swede and turnip (all fresh not frozen). He said it was the best he had ever tasted in a meal out. There was a great atmosphere with several locals there enjoying their food and the service was very quick. It was also good that we could bring our dog in with us. Note it is cash only payment.

Lovely wee cafe and restaurant on the main street, amidst a wee treasure trove of things you may want rather than need! Our second visit was as delightful as our first, and the coffee, tea and cake were just fine on a wet and gloomy afternoon. We were welcomed warmly, and were pleasantly pleased that our dog was welcomed too! We will certainly be back again!

I can see why others bemoan delay in service. We waited over 20 minutes for our brunch that said the meals were stunning and the plates heaped with quality freshly cooked produce. The cafe was busy and all food is freshly made. If you want a quick turnaround then I kindly suggest that you look elsewhere (precooked and reheated food) we will be back and when you consider that two full Scottish breakfasts and hot drinks were under £14 the place is superb value! We loved the fact that we we were asked if we wanted our drink served with the meal and also if I wanted a mug not a teacup for my tea (as if I am a dainty type l!)

My husband and I had a nice coffee and cakes in this cosy cafe in Girvan. The staff were very hardworking and friendly. The cafe, also has a little shop attached to it. It was very convenient to browse some nice pom hats, scarfs and gloves while enjoying our coffee. They have a rich and good quality collection. Our coffee had a nice flavour and the cakes were also fresh and tasty. Affordable prices. This is definitely our favourite place to go and have a break every time we are in Girvan. Thanks.

I never feel compelled to write reviews, but today I feel I have to let others know about the incompetence of this cafè. I sat down with my two children and ordered food that was a issue itself but I am willing to let that slide. It was nothing complicated the kids ordered soup and tuna sandwich and I had ordered soup and cheese onion and ham baguette. This is a very simple order. We waited for what it seemed like forever for one of the soups to arrive without the sandwich. I asked my daughter to wait for ours to come so we could eat together. After about ten minutes of waiting my daughter finally started eating her soup and sandwich. I asked staff where the other two were and they said they were just coming ...... fast forward another ten minutes we were still waiting and my daughter had finished hers the lady come over and asked what we ordered and took our order down again. We waited about another 15 minutes before I decided enough was enough and got up and paid for what we had and left. They were all apologetic but offered no refunds. I WOULD ADVISE NOT TO EAT HERE!. It was chaotic they had no idea who was getting what. Two other tables were waiting on orders and got food out at separate times. We were all looking at each other shocked. Hope you find this honest review helpful.

This was a real find on our holiday in Ayrshire. It's an unsung hero in the main street in Girvan, the restaurant hiding behind a façade of good quality shoes clothing and accoutrements. The staff could not have been more helpful. The place welcomes dogs, at tables placed just outside of the restaurant and there is a varied menu. The food is very well prepared and very tasty - and the prices are extremely reasonable. We met many of the locals, all of whom spoke to us on their way by. This is the place for a good light lunch or a main meal at lunchtime.

Not even a 1 for this place. The cook in particular is very rude and foul mouthed and very unhygienic don’t know where environmental health standards are when you visit this place. The owner needs to take control of the cook in particular as she stood there and let her cook swear obscenities at a customer because she made a complaint, well if you can’t take criticism then you shouldn’t be working in the hospitality industry. Then she expects the customer to apologise before they can go back in. Sorry that will never happen

Funny how opinions can vary on Trip Advisor. I have to say that it is impossible to come out of this place hungry. Been twice recently, and on both occasions found the staff to be helpful and friendly. I had on one occasion a full breakfast (well without egg as I don't like eggs) and it was great. On the other occasion I was through the front of the shop and had a treacle scone and a pot of tea. The treacle scone, home made I was informed after complimenting it) was fabulous. It is great to see a place in Girvan busy too. The Quay side is picture perfect just now, with the new pool/leisure centre, a beautiful harbour and a cracking restaurant (Austins). Well the main street in the town may well be in need of some TLC but there are a plus points and T and T is one of them

The same member of staff was touching her mouth and her hair whilst dealing with food and did not exhibit any knowledge of food hygiene absolutely disgusting! We arrived in Girvan on 2nd June on a wet Saturday lunch time for a 2 hour visit, part of our National Holidays planned trips. We were hungry but didn't have a clue where to go, and decided to ask at the local M & Co shop, where there was a nice place to eat, and we were directed by a very nice Sales Assistant to Tartans and Tweeds, and what a great choice it was. The ladies and girls in the restaurant were lovely and very helpful, and when the food arrived we were delighted, three of us went for the Fish Tea which came with a pot of Tea at a bargain price of £7-95, and one went with the Homemade Soup and Sandwich at £4-25. The fish and chips were very yummy and even had a lovely little side salad, and there was loads on the plate, the soup and sandwich was also lovely, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything looks like it is made fresh on the premises with all fresh ingredients and all the food that we saw being served looked really lovely, if we ever find ourselves visiting Girvan we will certainly be visiting Tartans and Tweeds as the Menu offers great value and the food is fab.

We were s/c but ate in the siroco a good few times and food was really good always piping hot.We visited the premium apartments and boy oh boy there are really fantastic well worth paying to get these as they are totally different class.I would book these next time, we also looked at the galeon playa in town which is the same owners, again really clean and staff brilliant as they let us view an apartment. We never saw any beasties or cockroaches at the siroco grounds or the apartment, which was great, we had family members who were in the Oceano apartments and my god I could not have stayed there! If I had'nt saw it I would not had believed it, cockroaches everywhere I don't mean 1 or 2 you had to do a riverdance! My wife and I discovered this hidden gem on a day trip from Glasgow. At first you think you are in a shoe/accessory shop, but the strains of Mantovani and the aroma of home baking entices you into a wonderland where good wholesome fare is the order of the day. We had the Christmas lunch (£11.95 for three courses). We had paid £30 per head the week before in a smart Glasgow hotel. Tartans and Tweeds won hands down on quality, quantity and the all important personal touch. The staff go out of their way to welcome you and engage with you in a most friendly and helpful manner. The menu is varied and imaginative and both meals and home baking are of the highest order. We would highly recommend a visit to Girvan to sample these delights.

Probably the friendliest little cafe I've been in. We stopped by in a rather delicate state on the way back to Ireland having been to a football match in Glasgow the night before. The food was really good and just what we needed for the long drive ahead. The cafe seems to form part of a shoe shop which adds to the quirkyness and I highly recommend their rice crispy buns although I'm pretty sure the lady didn't believe me when I ordered it because I had to ask her about 4 times! Also when they had no rice, they just gave me loads and loads of chips but that's cool...Otherwise everyone was really nice and chilled out so I'd highly recommend stopping there especially if you're on the way to get the ferry back to Belfast!

We live nearby and have lunch here regularly. Good choice of meals and lighter options. Senior citizens' menu with smaller portions. All meals freshly prepared and home made. Excellent value for money. Surroundings a bit dated but staff always friendly and service good.

Been here a few times for breakfast, which is always great, finally got round to having lunch last saturday as recommened by friends. And boy o boy it was totally fantastic, in fact the word fantastic seems so inadaquate. My hubby and i had 2 courses, i had macaroni salad and chips they macaroni was heavenly, then i had strawberry pavolva delish! Hubby had the best fish he has ever tasted in many a long year beautiful white angel cut haddock, with the lightest batter ever, followed by apple pie and custard Bliss! The food was so fresh and piping hot. This will now be our regular place now, as we are in girvan often due to having a holiday home.I must also mention the friendly staff nothing is too much trouble for them.FANTASTIC FOOD, GREAT STAFF what more do you need.

Lovely wee place for a light lunch, we had the roast veg and cheese panninis. While I was waiting for mine I took a minute to browse the quirky selection of shoes, handbags and scarves. A very friendly shop/ cafe and the food was fresh and tasty. Nice to have a good veggie option on the menu.
