Good fish and chips very attentive service from young man that spotted me from behind the massive takeaway queue. The fish tea represents good value with the strange but lovely addition of biscuits with the tea. Batter was crisp and missing that nasty sponge layer of raw batter so often present so i was very happy. I have had better but not often, my only complaint was the lack ofì takeaway queue control ment it felt like you were sat in the queue on the up side your grubs going to be fresh in a cafe this busy.

Food was good as was the service and the prices, extensive menu and kids menu

Last time we had fish and chips it was really nice so was looking forward to our supper this evening . Sadly I have to say it wasn’t nice at all !! My fish was soggy as if it had sat for a while , breaded fish was much the same , and the chips were cold , the curry sauce was all over the outside of the carton . Shame as it’s normally good . Maybe a different fish fryer tonite ????

The food was excellent and the staff were different class. I will definitely be back when I visit again. The special fish supper was the best I've had in decades.

Just had a lovely breaded fish n chips. It was piping hot, very fresh. Place is spotlessly clean. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Avoid - This place is filthy - chips were tasteless ( think they were re/ heats). Should have taken them back . Will never go back . Should have went Barassie chippy - it’s immaculate .

Hadn't been there for years always enjoyed a fish supper from there so thought when in area to try again...big mistake Fish was very thin with quite a few visible bones..very off putting. Batter was soggy not a crispy bit about it. Chips tasted as if they had been reheated very dry and basically couldn't eat them. Staff were all out front cooing over a baby then returned to behind the counter with no hand washing straight to dealing with fish out the fridge. Also girls taking orders dealing with money were also in the fridge dealing with the raw food. Would not recommend and will not be back

Went to the Pavilion after a walk along Troon. Both of us had a large fish tea. £11 each was very reasonable for a great fish supper buttered bread, chocolate biscuits, and a pot of tea. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly, and the service was excellent. Hats off to the girls working there. Next time we go back to Troon we will go back for more.

Great wee chippy just remember they only take cash

Absolutely abysmal! Walked in and could hear 2 women bickering behind the counter over who had taken their last sausage! We stood patiently waiting and eventually the pair, Liz and Jennifer (the names have not been changed to protect their identities!) paused long enough and our order was taken. As we waited the argument continued between the pair and more customers entered the shop. About 10 minutes later my husband was summoned over, and the money was taken. Suddenly Jennifer realised a mistake had been made and the order was for the couple after us. Another 10 mins later, and watching the comings and goings of other customers we approach the counter and enquired as to the whereabouts of our order. This is met with a confused Liz, shrugging her shoulders and blaming Jennifer for not writing anything on the pad. By this time we’d had enough and demanded our money back! We won’t be back!!!!

Awful Fish had no taste and was the size of a gold fish that had been run over by a van Peas were anaemia Chips were ok if there was nothing else to eat Bread and butter came with biscuits on the side of the plate. Why???

The fish was mushy, felt a bit overcooked or reheated - my 4 year old said it was like fish fingers. When asked how our meal was, my lovely daughter made a ‘puke’ face and I politely explained the fish was ok but not as good as usual. The woman calls her coworker over ‘he says the fish wasn’t good’ and they start arguing and literally telling me the fish was good. Soooo rude it was funny. They could save time and just tell customers their food is good instead of asking what they think. Used the experience as a field trip exercise for the wean and explained the harsh truth that some people might ask what you think but they’ll fall to pieces if you don’t tell them what they want to hear - ignore them and always speak your truth I told her. She agreed. Next time we’ll try one of the other chippies in town.

Having been recommended to try the fish and chips, my Dad and I walked here from Irvine (Kiltwalk training). Well it was worth the rain and wind. The place is absolutely spotless. The fish tea was delicious but above all the friendly greeting we received was a delight. I'll definitely revisit this wee gem.

A chippy just like back in the old days. Half a chicken is whopping. Having the leftovers on a sambo for breakfast. There is something a bit fishy about this place as they only take cash. Warm wishes to the lovely lassies working hard doon the back of the shop.

Popped in with Jenny for a sit-in. Absolutely lovely staff, great prices and it was the best chippy I've had in years. The scampi is to die for! X

Everyone talks about The Wee Hurrie but tbh I prefer this place, cheaper, tastier, good service, consistent - class wee chippy. Our family go to.

Its just the perfect local chippy, fish done perfect, chips great, prices perfect, what more do you want? Only negative is its cash only, no cards accepted, but theres literally a cash machine inside or just round the corner.

Bit disappointed,not as good as previous visits

Lovely fresh fish, and chips like mum made alongside real home made mushy peas and a big pot of tea. A warm friendly welcome and simple food perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend it. Only 5 tables so expect to have a wee wait, well worth it!

Unfortunately very average & not cheap either. Loads of bones in the fish supper. I liked their wae or nae sign though, that was funny. The worst place we had food whilst staying in Troon for a few days, see my other reviews.

We walked into the cafe and got a table straight away! Cute wee cafe/chippy. Menu had a great selection of delicious food and drinks at very reasonable price. I got a sausage supper with curry sauce & my two family members had the fish suppers which was excellent value for money with 3 drinks. The girl in the shop had a lovley smile. Very friendly and all looked happy! Very clean and happy place.. only downside was door being opened due to hot weather and flys around but didn't stop us!! Cash only in the shop I'm afraid though but that's the shops policy.. definitely would recommend and will return again yummy thanks

Enormous portions of lovely chips made with thick cut potatoes and super hot. Delicious! Very nice staff and clean tables and chairs inside.

This was the worst fish and chips we have ever had and spoiled the end of a lovely day out. The fish was full of grease and just horrible taste.Will never be back. It was almost as expensive as The wee hurrie so when we seen the price we had high expectations. What a waste of money. The queue for wee hurrie we felt was too long on this occasion next time we will wait and avoid pavilion cafe always.

Definitely the best chippy in troon. The food is great fairly priced! Inside the restaurant is quite what you would want from a chippy. I normally order a sausage supper with salt it's banging!

Always fantastic the serving staff are lovely and it's great to see even though we hadn't been in more than 6 months that they remeber people, stop in if your in the area, you will not regret it.

We’ve been visiting the Pavilion Café as a family for over 30 years and never had a single bad meal or bad service. The fish tea is excellent. Food is fresh, cooked to order and tasty. You can have an ice cream after your meal as dessert. The cafe is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. We wouldn’t go anywhere else in Troon.

I had been waiting what feels like years for a haggis supper by the sea, so I popped in here to grab us some food and walked down to the seafront. We all enjoyed our chips very much. Bad reviews are harsh, it's not a bad little chippy

Food was delicious and HOT , second time eating here and will definitely be back. I live in Glasgow but was visiting family who recommend this place.

Fantastic chippy, lots of choice and very friendly staff. Everything cooked to order while we enjoyed a pint at the bar a few doors down. Haggis supper comes highly recommended 😃

We really wanted to try the wee hurrie but unfortunately it was closed so decided to try here instead. The staff in here were so unbelievably rude - one older lady in particular who decided to shake her head with annoyance when trying to order more items. Felt very uncomfortable when she then felt the need to continue giving me a dirty look when waiting for my food order. The fish itself was nice although it was very thin and small portions for the price. Definitely got the vibe that they don’t like tourists only locals. Won’t be back!!

Waited in a relatively short queue for 20 minutes. Fish was over cooked and tasteless. It also felt expensive for what we had. Am sure there are much better alternatives in Troon. Really disappointing!

Not knowing Troon, we ended up here and had the fish and chips. The chips were ok, but the fish was poor - it was not cod or haddock, but probably one of the "new" species that they use nowadays. If a fish and chip shop doesn´t state "cod" or "haddock" or "plaice", be careful!

Staff not very personable....dont know if that's the right word, maybe rude would be better..but its like you are invisible to them, just give us your money.....only smiles they have is for people they know or locals ect... Rib was tasteless....chips ok....asked for tomatoe sauce and girl threw like a bottle of it on and ........next!! I don't expect ear to ear grins but to be successfull with any business, you must put customers satisfaction 1st.... Very poor set up indeed...ps girls swearing as they serve is not a good selling point either...wont be back.

Fantastic staff and food was lively and fresh.

Having read recent reviews about this place I was a bit apprehensive, as it's always been good in past. But the fish suppers we had were excellent! The chips were cooked to perfection and the batter on the fish was melt in the mouth delicious! Maybe people are too negative these days, who knows. All I can say is the next time we are in Troon and looking for great fish and chips, I know where I'll be going!

Really good portion sizes and lovely food

I’m really fussy about fish and chips coming from Yorkshire where good fish and chip shops are plentiful but now living in Glasgow where good chippies are in short supply. So loved my visit to the Pavilion Cafe today. Lovely fresh fish, great batter and beautiful chips. Served with bread and butter a pot of tea and biscuits for £7.50 - total bargain. Staff were lovely and the place was spotless. What’s not to like. Definitely worth a visit if your in Troon. I will be back.

Nice little place. Just ordered chips, fritters and some rolls. Food was prepared super quick and was pretty cheap compared to some places I’ve been before! The batter on the Fritters was amazing and crispy. Would definitely go back.

Just been here and may I say that this is close to the worst staff I have encountered in my 50 years on this earth, their attitude is disgusting. We simply asked for salt and/or vinegar on each supper, but due to the moronic Covid screen protector they have installed you cannot hear what they are saying and vice versa they cannot hear you. So the old hag serving never put any vinegar on one of the suppers, we noticed this and asked if she could put it on, she said no I'm not doing that with an attitude, seriously! When we asked nicely, can you not take it out the bag and add it the hairy with the hedge red hair started being rude and cheeky. We then asked for a receipt the hedge hair turned and said "whatever". Needless to say we will never be back and I would recommend finding an alternative chippy with nicer staff. Even big dour faced lurch frying the food looked he couldn't be bothered.

Being by the sea i thought i would get amazing fish and chips, i did not. the fish was so thin there was barely any fish in the batter, it tasted ok. the chips were ok, the mushy peas were awful, tasteless.i would not recommend the pavilion

Was there Saturday the fish was full of bones & all dried up, chips were like rubber as if they had been lying for hours, never had this problem before with this cafe.

Terrible.Fish past its best definitely not fresh I expect to get white flesh not silvery grey, smoked sausage just a greese ball worst £16 spent on a chippy in a long time

Have been twice this week and loved the fish and chips takeaway both times. Made to order, two fish per supper, excellent chips. Superb value for money. Unfortunately I live in Glasgow and won't be able to visit as often as I would like to, although I will be back.
