Was lucky enough to enjoy another amazing meal The Gourmet Dining Room last night. It was perfect from start to finish - dish of the day for me was the amuse bouche cheese and onion tart 😍. I could live on those tarts! buttery, crumbly pastry and ousing with cheesy flavour! Started with warm bread and butter, cheese & onion tart, tomato salad with tomato gel and caesar dressing, halibut with the most amazing tuile 👏, tender beef with a fab smoked cauliflower puree!, tropical fruit palate cleanser and trio of chocolate - ate it before I remembered a photo! You also get a little pressi to take home 💖 I think it is a flapjack. The atmosphere was lovely and buzzy and tge service was great. You take your own drinks & glasses are provided. Thank you Michael & Toni xx

One of the best meals we have ever had ( and we are no Spring chickens). The whole thing runs smoothly, despite the fact only two people are doing all the cooking and serving. A real boost to the area. Not surprisingly it is difficult to get a booking, but apparently they are trying to change the procedure. If you like your food this is a must try experience.

I can not recommend this amazing gourmet experience enough. The chef and his wife are knowledgeable and take time to explain every aspect of each dish and how it’s paired with the following course. Its a hidden gem in Yorkshire and in my humble opinion the best evening you could wish for. If I could rate this higher than a five star I would. Regards Terry and Kerry

My husband and I visited for the first time on a Friday evening having attempted on previous occasions to secure a booking. We were not sure of what to expect, being accustomed to fine dining concepts and having never been to a supper club type dining option before. The property was a little troublesome to locate, but with some prior planning on Google maps we got there. The dining room itself is a purpose built kitchen with space at the front and rear for seating. In total there's maybe 25 covers in a stark, white extension to the rear of a beautiful Victorian townhouse. The welcome was pleasant, although not personal and our details were not checked which was surprising, given the difficulty of securing a booking. It is not a licenced option, you you are free to bring your own drinks. My husband and I brought champagne - two bottles in total however, we were not offered an ice bucket and were provided with standard wine glasses rather than flutes. The food was served pretty quickly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The dish was explained by the chef himself and was delicious. The second course was my least favourite - an aged rice dish rather like a soupy risotto flavoured with parmesan and espresso. Personally I think it was badly presented, a little fake tasting & the coffee didn't really come through. The third course was a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet, finished on a barbeque outside. The lentils it sat upon were flavoursome although the accompanying broccoli although nicely cooked could've done with some flavour accompaniment rather than being served plain. The dish was not really explained to us. The fourth dish - I assumed eel from the onset, although we did have to ask because the chef wouldn't say (he thought guests would be put off) turned out to be smoked eel, and was beautifully cooked and served with beetroot. This was probably one of my favourite dishes on the night. Lastly, two desserts were served. Firstly a warm chocolate foam surrounding an orange sorbet and secondly a deconstructed rhubarb & custard with pink meringue pieces. Both were really lovely. The bill was not brought or asked for, we simply followed the lead of other guests who appeared to leave cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef and I joined the conversation after visiting the loo. He's obviously very knowledgeable and knows his way around flavour. Overall, I felt a little disappointed in the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. It all seemed a little vague, not very personal & lacking interest. Guest interaction is very important I feel, so if I could offer them any tips it would be to take the time to speak to and interact with guests, even if this costs time in the kitchen. The reason why I have not provided full marks is due to the presentation and slightly lacking flavour in each dish. For example, the plain broccoli could be brought to life with a compatible flavour very easily - it's important with fine dining to ensure that every element of the dish is an explosion of flavour in my opinion. That said, it was a very enjoyable evening and we will certainly return if we're luck enough to secure a space!

Jumping into the unknown, we booked on the advise of others. Going round to a strangers house to eat food was a little taboo to me, but, we were far from disappointed. Every course was exquisite, different and with a professional flair. I have eaten all round the globe and the Gourmet Kitchen is definitely up there in my top 3. Taking your own tipple is a plus for me as you do not have to wait for service. We will definitely book again. Thank you both for an amazing experience. 5/5

I have only had the pleasure of visiting Michael Price’s Gourmet Kitchen once but WOW! What a trip! I managed to get a cancellation via Facebook & was thrilled because tables book extremely fast when bookings are taken. It is also my understanding that bookings are taken a few times a year so I was pleased to get a spot. The Gourmet Kitchen is located in Michael’s home & I feel that this adds to the experience. My friend and I were seated in the front room but I’d love to go back & sit in the kitchen amongst the action for a different vibe. We were happy where we were though & the ambience felt relaxed & chilled. The food was outstanding; 7 dishes in total I think and all superb. The flavours were second to none & presentation was truly impressive. I’m not at all surprised that Michael has the reputation he does. Value for money is also amazing. I’m excited to learn that he has recently opened Clam and Cork in the fish market in Doncaster and can’t wait to visit. I would love to hear more about upcoming bookings as I’m no longer on Facebook & don’t want to miss out on the chance to visit again! I now know where he lives though so I’ll just have to add him to my Christmas card list & hope for the best!
