One of my favourite spots in Comber to go for lunch or coffee. Consistently good food, great atmosphere and couldn’t ask for nicer staff, who go out of their way to accommodate their customers! My personal menu favourites are the Ballymalone bagel, the chicken panini or the daily soup option! The food quality is top tier, and I haven’t found a fault with the food, service or facilities in my years of going here. It’s always a pleasure!:)

Although the service was exemplary and the coffee and top ups really good when my order for prawn salad arrived I was so disappointed. A small quantity of prawns, a scrap of salad and it came at a price. I’ve ordered this in the Ards area in many places and this was indeed the least satisfactory.

This is where we normally go for coffee when in comber. It is situated up a small entry to the right at the bottom of the hill on High St. Whilst it is good for coffee and scones, the tables are badly arranged and you often get 2 people sitting at a table for 4 or even 6 and there is no where else to sit. It would be better if they had more tables for 2 which could be pulled together or separated as necessary. Also although they offer free filter coffee refills you have to catch the eye of the waitress (not easy) or you have no chance of getting a refill. More often than not you have to go up to the counter and ask for a refill and many of us don't like to do this.

I visited for lunch with my daughter. The cafe situated in a courtyard just off the High Street. When we arrived there were a number of people in the cafe but there were still free tables. There was a pleasant atmosphere but it is not too noisy. We were given a menu and shown the daily specials promptly, and sufficient time was allowed to make our choices before the waitress returned. We both opted for bagels which came with sides of salad leaves and potato salad. The meal and drinks were served using china plates, cups and saucers and again service was within a reasonable time. The portions were a good size , well prepared and presented. Be aware the cafe closes at 4pm.

The staff were attentive and we were impressed to see a waitress carrying out the coffee jug and offering a coffee top up to a lady near us ! My husband was looking forward to having the same but despite a waitress hovering around ...alas no top up was offered !! Are top ups for "favourite customers" ? A pretty restaurant with attentive and efficient staff, we call here from time to time and are ordinarily happy with both options and food quality. At a recent brunch visit however, we were served breakfasts that were simply awful - dry shop bought pancakes (possibly described as home made), watery "maple syrup", underdone fatty watery bacon, and a full fry that was somewhat similar with all elements tasting and looking as though they were purchased as cheaply as possible. Maybe it was just a bad day!!

I visited this very stylish café and gift shop mid morning and feeling famished before I arrived. There is a good choice of morning dishes and I chose a bacon roll with sausage and fried egg in a very fresh bap. It was delicious and the bacon and sausage were of good quality and cooked to perfection. The coffee was excellent and they also have a goods range of teas and coffee's. I shared a slice of the 'house chocolate gateaux' with double cream. Calorie counting has to be left outside the door if you order this cake. It was an absolute dream cake worthy of a 1st prize in any open competition. Moist cake and the filling was equally 100% delicious, the whole cake was glazed in a generous layer of sticky chocolate. If you are a chocolate cake lover I recommend The Goose Café for the cake never mind anything else. They even have a range of these cakes. I believe they are made in house in which case I congratulate the chef. Not often one can one find a high quality cake like this but I found it in Comber on a Friday. How lucky was I. Overall the roll and cake plus coffee were very good. The cake gets a full 10 out of 10. The roll bacon and egg worth 8.5. If the baps were made in house which I reckon they were not it could have been a 9. For readers attention the fresh home made scones from the Goose are exceptional and best in town (my in-biased opinion) and the local area. My fa.v is the cinnamon but come in at 9.30 as they are just out of the oven. Again the chef is rather brilliant at scones. I find a good scone is hard to come by. The supermarkets sell mediocre scones. I give the cinnamon scone 9.9. The Goose premises are gorgeous inside, lovely atmosphere and the staff are all so friendly. During the summer there are outdoor tables. Come early as it is very busy. Note during winter they now close at 4pm. Opens 6 days per week. I have not commented on lunches as I have not been but if they have the same quality as available in the morning they must be good. The independent 'FUDE' Deli up stairs is worth a visit (go outside the Goose and up the steel stairs). They sell artisan foods jams spices handmade Irish chocolate, organic veg, free range eggs, gammon, bacon, German sausage etc. The range of units also includes a craft jeweler and hair salon. The Goose is not easily found but for those trying to find it first time find the main Square with the statue of General Gillespie then go up High St 20 yards and you cant miss the restored Scrabo stone building. Go through an archway and the Goose is ahead of you. Children are admitted but I don't often see kids. More often it attracts a mature older clientele. I travel around Northern Ireland and get to know the best cafes, the Goose is in my top 10.

Located at the back of a small courtyard , High Street, this cafe is a bit of a tardis - bigger when you go inside. Popular for snacks and light lunches, the food is home cooked and delicious. We were looking for a coffee on an autumnal afternoon and The Goose caught our eye - we wanted somewhere that would be different and let you relax for a while and read.Up a little alleyway in a quiet courtyard just off the square The Goose from the outside certainly ticked the boxes. The cafe is quite spacious and offers both soft seating ( too many places don't,and are a boon if you just want to chill ) and table chairs. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff particularly welcoming. A wide variety of Suki teas are available and are always a welcome sight rather than supermarket available teas. We resisted the temptation of the wide variety of very fine looking cakes, tray bakes and especially scones. These looked to be homemade, but as we didn't try them,I can't actually confirm they were.My coffee was fine - not particularly exciting- but given everything else was spot on I happily enjoyed it together with a free top up and relaxed under no pressure for about an hour and read my book.I would certainly suggest giving The Goose a go. We certainly will another time.
