The Goods In in Bury

Really enjoyed the cappuccino and breakfast bap was nice. Staff were really friendly but food service really slow imo. Took 20 mins for my take away to be ready with only 1 order (2ppl) before me. Probably ok if you’re sitting in but seemed a long time to wait to me.

The food is very good with excellent service, I can enjoy the morning coffee with tasty food !

2024 is not the year of The Goods In. It still serves great food/coffee in a really cool setting but unlike previous years the service has taken a major decline. Getting service, drink waiting time, food waiting time, asking for cutlery, asking to pay is all now just a major pain. It doesn't seem to matter if it's busy or not. I will not be returning or referring it to friends until I hear of improvements.

Lovely place, right next to Heaton Park metro. Only had a brew and a cake but it’s spacious, light and airy, with nice, big booths and a sunny back yard (looks like a good set up for DJ’s too) Coffee was good, sweet stuff was from Silver Apples, so pretty familiar and more than decent quality. Staff were super friendly. Will definitely head back and try some proper food and drinks soon

The service in here is so poor. As others have commented, I’ve thought it several times but if you want to be ignored at the door when you come in, wait ages for your drinks, wait 40 plus minutes for simple brunch food and have to repeatedly ask for simple things like cutlery or condiments go here. It wasn’t even busy, I don’t know how they justify adding a 10% service charge to each bill when their service is so poor. The grown man walking round in a cap with a dark beard is just rude and abrupt. It’s also on the higher priced side which would be fine but poor service and then 10% additional service charge just isn’t good enough

What a lovely place. We took our little Walter here who got to enjoy a puppachino while we had our brunch. Our little dude can be a little bit eager to play with others at times and the staff were so welcoming and understanding. Thank you so much :) we'll be back soon!

Service was rubbish took 20 mins to take drinks order then asked could they take my food order the young girl said someone else will come and do that she’s only takes drinks orders , then when she brought the drinks over split them everywhere. £9 something for scrambles egg on toast and extra £2 for one sausage .. then when asking for the bill waited another 20 mins ended up going to the bar ourselves will not be returning wasn’t that busy ever

Funky Industrial vibe .... No mention of 10% service charge until l received the bill... Tipping should ALWAYS be personal. Rumour has it, service charge goes to profit of the establishment not to the staff !!!!

Great venue with some nice beers

It is good to come for a drink but not to have brunch on weekends anymore. I used to come here a lot for brunch and it’s lovely I am not sure what is going on and poor ground staff they were so uncomfortable to tell people but we came and there’s nothing left at 12:15 pm. No sausages no bacons no vegan and veggie options left. They didn’t tell us this before we sat down and waited for drinks for 30 minutes. The bar staff told us that the kitchen haven’t told them anything about the shortages of food. The management has got to be better. Quite disappointed.

Very good food but portions were a little bit too small for me..

First visit today and a really enjoyable afternoon including the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. (Even eaten one handed with a breastfeeding baby balanced between me and the table). Will definitely be back.

Went into the good old goods in for an after werk bevvie this evening, and Sean who was serving on the bar was an absolute dream, I would give 6 stars if I could! Top guy.

Appox 10 of us went a couple of weeks ago after parkrun in Heaton Park. Some of us were seated and drinks order taken, which took about 20 mins to come. In the meantime the others arrived and we struggled to get someone's attention to order food and drinks, when we did eventually and after another 30 mins we were still waiting for half a drinks order. After being sat there for at least an hour we'd had enough, 2-3 people not even had their drinks, half of us got up and left with refunds, ridiculous service. Clearly got a staffing issue, whether that's not enough or incapable of supplying a service. Do not understand how a business can run like that!

Stopped in for takeaway drinks - they were very busy but were very unfriendly and unhelpful. Coffee was good and the food is good too but service should be improved - was not the 1st time it has happened.

Really like the food here. The only thing preventing me giving it 5 stars is it doesnt seem to have heating so make sure you wrap up in winter!

Perfect spot opposite Heaton park from the people who brought you all the shapes in prestwich village. Brunch menu is extensive and interesting, coffee superb and service excellent.

I’ve eaten here 3 times now and I love it every time. Delicious unique food, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, dog friendly and affordable. I’ve always got a seat straight away too due to the size of it.

Delicious food, good options for cocktails and a nice, chilled atmosphere. Only gave it 4 for atmosphere because our table was a little cold (seemed like the rest of the room was fine).

Incredible place, a wee bit under advertised from the outside, but really nice and rustic inside. Chill tunes, Dog friendly, and the food is really nice and healthy! Really good beer selection and ok prices. Nice little hidden gem of a place.

Had brunch with my daughter, absolutely delicious food, fresh, tasty and well cooked. My daughter said her chicken burger was the best she’d tasted! I had mushrooms and poached egg on sourdough, delicious flavours. Quick service and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

Visited the Goods Inn last weekend as a group of 7. Really poor levels of customer service. They really couldn't of cared less if we stayed or left. As a group of 7 we needed a large table. One was empty and available. We could see this from the door. It had 4 chairs round it but could of easily sat 8 or more. We were told that it would not be possible to sit there even though there were plenty of free chairs as they would not allow moving the free chairs to that table. Instead we given the option of sitting outside in the rain on a single small picnic table. We asked if a table became available inside could we move in and were told no that would not be possible once an order was assigned to a table. So there we sat, scrunched up together in the cold. The young blonde lady who seemed to be in charge of allocating tables was completely inflexible. She could not have cared less if we left. Some customer service training is needed here. We were not asking for much. We will not visit again.

Cool place with a very chilled vibe, delicious food and great coffee! We have been a few times now, always for lunch, and so far it’s the best place we’ve found in Prestwich. On another level quality-wise compared to others in the vicinity. Food looks and tastes great with good vegetarian options, nice coffee, all priced as you’d expect. Staff are always nice and I’ve never had an issue like some report in the comments. My only criticism is they don’t sell loaves of the (incredible) Sourdough that they serve. Then it would be truly East London cafe style! I did ask, but I’m nice so I won’t dock a star for being told no :)

Called in for a bacon butty and coffee for breakfast before our Wednesday Walk through Heaton Park and down to Allkrington (and back).. More than happy with everything! Reccomended!

I really am not one to complain as I work with the public myself but If I could give minus stars I would. Service is absolutely shocking by unenthusiastic kids who can barely look you in the eye. All staff congregate by the bar and takes 10 mins to try and get attention to the point you have to go and fetch someone- wouldn’t mind if they were busy there was 5 tables to wait on. Drinks are overpriced and the food is diabolical, we ordered drinks for the table, asked for a glass of rose and lemonade but got rose wine with lemon juice. When I went back to the bar to ask for lemonade I received a thimble of the dregs of flat lemonade out of a Schweppes bottle. The full English consisted of one slice of bacon, one sausage, half a tomato, 3 slithers of crispy potato on a slice of un toasted soda bread and an egg that looked like it had been thrown on the floor. They charge £12.50 for the ‘breakfast’. Egg and avocado on toast came with 2 slices of avo and one egg when we asked for a poached egg the girl said ‘sorry we don’t have any of them’ had to request more avo for the avocado and toast and it got slammed and slid across the table. The 3 portions of chips we ordered had to cancel them as we had finished eating and couldn’t wait to leave. When we asked for the bill and they came for payment and explained that the service and food was shambolic the girl didn’t seem phased atall. Will never be returning and will not ever recommend. After reading the reviews it seems like they don’t read them because a lot of people mention the service is piss poor.

The full English breakfast was just ok, a bit disappointing for the price. It arrived cold though. However I would visit again for drinks - the coffee was great and the barista did awesome latte art.

Great little venue but the staff are, at best, lacklustre. Have been several times and at different times of day. You can be ignored at the bar while they chat, have ordered food that has never arrived, it’s a shame as it’s a great addition to Prestwich and the djs are frequently on point too.

Nice enough place, staff nice, don’t mind paying over the odds for the beer for a nice place like this, but charging £3.50 for 10 chips in a little pot like this takes the piss.

Nice place across the road from Heaton Park with outside dining. It was very hot when we visited so we had a light lunch and coffee. Has vegetarian options on the menu. My son always get the French toast of course. Coffee was good.

I am baffled by this place. I have no idea what people see in it. Service is lathargic. I believe there is an attempt at a "hipster Eastend London" type of thing... the prices reflect this, but the quality is not there. Food is very average, cocktails are dead... I don't u derstand it. Why does my wife love this place?

The woman behind the bar was great. My friend wanted a mocktail and she advised her what was what. She loved the result 😁 Didn't eat so can't rate the food

We've been a few times. Each time hoping it will be better. The food is really nice but the service is really odd. Today we weren't allowed to order our food at the same time as the drinks. The waitress said she needed to take another tables order first. So we ordered our drinks. 10 minutes later the waitress came back to see if we were ready to order food. Yes we were as we were 10 minutes previous. 20 minutes went by and no drinks. I went to the barista and we were still not at the top of the list even though many take away coffees had been made in the meantime. We scrapped the drinks but waited for the food as it was being prepared. Food was nice but they really need to sort out the service. It wasn't even half full. They did give us a discount for all the hassle.

This is a really chilled and relaxing venue. They've a nice choice of beers and food. We'll be returning again soon. Also the breakfast is amazing!

Popped in at tea time on Saturday and discovered why this place has a reputation for incredibly rude, aggressive and incompetent staff. Never again. Shame, because the pizzas are half decent.

Great brunch menu here - different takes on traditional recipes. Dog-friendly, with free on street parking nearby. Couple of low &^ no-alcohol beers on the menu too.

Once these guys get their service sorted this place will be absolutely brilliant. Great food, great drinks and a really good atmosphere.

I would give 5 stars if the service would be much better. The food is very tasty, but the service could be improved. Waited to long to take our order, several staff members were standing talking and no one could come to the table to take the order. Then the guy had put cutlery on our table and in few minutes later came back to take them back and gave cutlery to another customers at another table. If you know you get so many people, why not too buy enough cutlery. In addition, pouched eggs didn’t look like a pouch egg at all on both dishes (was over cooked)

This place is a hidden gem. Didn't even know it was here til recently. I only got a very nice takeaway coffee on my way into Heaton park, I could not believe how big the place was when I walked in. The food going to the tables looked topped notch and delicious. Look forward to a proper visit soon. So good to see such a great place in Prestwich.

Have heard nothing but good things about this place and really wanted to love it but unfortunately came up short. Waitress who showed us to our seat threw the menus on a table without saying a word to us. 15 mins for anyone to come over and ask what we would like to drink/eat. Food was tasty but felt very overpriced for the portion sizes. Service was extremely slow to the point of us needing to get up to ask for things and it wasn’t even half full in the venue. Disappointing to say the least.

Barking dogs inside, owners and staff just left them barking for a good 30mins, awful noise.. Food very poor compared to 3 weeks previously. Very disappointing 😞

Tasty breakfast, Turkish eggs with lamb sausage, comfortable seating, heating and eating. Feels a bit like a speakeasy on your way in.

What a wonderful find (guided by my local friend, Andy W - cheers mate!) - The Goods In is reminiscent of a (sadly) now closed venue near where I live, The Factory Kitchen. It has a similar feel which is somewhat industrial but oddly cosy with underfloor heating & a wood burner occupying the space simultaneously. Anyway, I had The Goods In breakfast & what a feast - both for the eyes & the stomach. The plate is like a work of art with a sculpture made from potato strings, forming an arch over tasty bacon, a bangin' banger and two perfectly poached eggs, all mounted on a large, succulent slice of sourdough toast. With a side of beans in a pot (homemade I suspect but no less tasty than the 57 variety!) it's the perfect start to the day. With friendly staff & being a pet-friendly place (bring a coat or a blanket & your pooch can join in the fun on the banquette seating!) this is a great place to eat. This time it was breakfast, next time I'll have a lie in & try lunch :-).

Lovely food and great atmosphere

Very nice place, really enjoyed the food; good vegan options. Had a V sausage butty, was really good, came with hash brown potatoes and a homemade tomato sauce that wasn't sickly sweet like ketchup. Really good drinks selection, worth a visit if you like your beers. Plenty of space so you don't feel crammed in. Dog friendly too

Possibly the best lunch I’ve ever had ! Miso Mushrooms- flavours were spot on , presentation perfect and served by the loveliest staff you could wish for ! The Goods In is superb ! .

A lovely, relaxed establishment, with Craft and more commercial beers and beverages ie cocktails, tea, coffee etc. Interestingly... They have 'genderless' toilets and the men wash their hands in there!

A great informal venue and a nice space. We went to an evening of local DJs. The food not in but a fine selection of beers, wines etc.

Went to a house night it was so good but the guy played more disco before house music once the house music come on it was good but then it was ended

Usually okay this place but £10.50 for a sandwich that consists of one piece of ham one piece of Swiss cheese and some pork was underwhelming and extremely over priced.

Converted from a storage facility to a bar cum restaurant sometime in mid 2020. Although in Prestwich, it is in the less fashionable part adjacent to Heaton Park tram stop and to the Bury Old Road entrance to said park. It's a modern affair with table service, that said you can come in just for a drink if you want. Industrial look to the interior softened to the back by a touch of greenery and the open kitchen area. A brave idea, and an equally brave location choice. I wish it success.

I am ordinarily horrified by the thought of writing a negative review of a local independent business. However I feel compelled to leave this after a series of unhappy experiences. The latest came just a couple of days ago. I’m coeliac or gluten free - it’s an allergy. I opted for the gluten-free option on the menu, which I have eaten on previous visits. I was then told despite it being advertised as GF, it wasn’t GF after all. To add to this experience - when I recently realised a beer advertised as GF beer wasn’t GF, I was told by the owner, ‘I looked it up online and it has minimal levels of gluten’. IT’S AN ALLERGY. What on earth is happening here? In the context of the food industry supposed to be taking food allergies more seriously. They have delivered food advertised as Gluten Free - which isn’t Gluten free. This is not the first or second time this has happened. It’s multiple times, and because of that it’s not safe to dine there. I do have to say the food is lovely and it’s a good vibe but this really isn’t acceptable.

This is a lovely place with great beers and a half decent food menu. The food menu could be a little more child friendly as we found it difficult with my 8 year old daughter. On one occasion we also found it quite expensive. 3 x ipa (£3.50 each), 1 x can of ipa, 1 x diet Coke, 1 x portion of chips and 1 x millionaire shortbread all came to £38.74. Now I'd class that as quite expensive.

Great bar with good food and drinks.

Food was majorly overpriced for what it was. Chicken was really slimy and tasteless. Our meal came to £100 and they took an £9 tip without even asking. Just added it onto our bill without even telling us. We only noticed because it was on the receipt. So make sur did you go here. Look at the bill before you pay!

Food was a bit cold. Took a while for my beer order to com and the place was relatively quiet. Bar manager took the gratuity tip without consulting me. Realised after. Disappointed. Won’t be going back and I’ve been there a few times and all the shapes many times over the years. At least give customers the option! Ironically I would have gave a good tip, just feels like theft or desperation.

We went there on Saturday, service and food very poor,they got the order wrong we asked for no tomato sauce it's not a lot to ask, but they could not get that right first time, the food was poor and overpriced,the place was like a building site,loud music could not hear yourself think,they also allow dogs in the restaurant if you could call it a restaurant. I would not recommend it and would not go there again,not good value at all.
