The Good Catch in Liverpool

Asked for fish and chips with just vinager on them and they put salt on as well too busy talking to someone else when they were serving me and not concentrating on what they were doing both chip and the fish where covered in grease which leaked out of the box on to my hand when I carried out of the shop won't be going there again.

Me and my mum went today and have to say I WILL be going back, the staff were really friendly and the food was amazing also fast service, we ordered fish, chips and a curry sauce, best fish and chip's I have had for years, would recommend.

The food was amazing.I would strongly recommend this place.

We used to go the good catch quite often, noticed a few weeks ago it had changed to mikes, we gave it a try and thought it was better than the good catch, we went again today, and all 3 of us really enjoyed our fish chips and mushy peas very good price £6.50 each with a drink will definitely be going there every Saturday, please don't let the negative reviews put you off (we nearly did) well done to Mike and his staff very polite and friendly 5*

I loved the place, the food was amazing. My kids loved it. The curry was very tasty and so were the chips, the staff were very polite and nice taking care of the customers. Definitely come again and recommend to everyone.

Mikes fish an chips hit the spot for my work team. We called in after a long day. Staff couldn't off been more helpful choosing through there delicious choices on the menu. Would definitely return food was was 10/10.

Been here on 21/04/2024 after it has been take over by Mike from the good catch. Very friendly staff and fast service, had fish and chips with mild (fruity) curry and it was lovely🤩 the price is to be expected these days and to be honest I’ve been to dearer chippies, but if you’re around definitely have a try. Will be back!

No longer the good catch - was ‘mikes fish and chips’ but with the good catch branding - went in, nobody seemed to know what they were doing. Spent £20 on curry a scampi and chips, 3 scallops and a fish and chips. daylight robbery. Scampi and chips was only half a container full (more like a kids portion) fish soggy and they forgot the scallops. Curry was watery and flavourless. Feel ripped off and food was not good and staff / service very uninviting. Would not return.

The Good Catch has been taken over and is now Micks fish and chips and the food is shocking! No salt and Vinegar on the fish and chips didn’t realise until I was home! The chips were anemic The mushy peas were so dry!!! The salt and pepper calamari looked like it’s been in and out the fryers for the last 3 days absolutely awful!

Not a bad chippy tbh. Chips and fish were tasty.

Just been to the the good catch in greaty today 12th March 2024 as it changed hands as the signs are gone and the fish is very small plus £2'40 for a very small portion of chip.????

Never had a bad meal here, good portions and quick and friendly service. A1.

I never leave reviews but think this place deserves one ,Hands down the best fish and chips for miles. Served in a cardboard box and not greasy. Good size fish that is beautifully cooked..

Hands down the greatest, and I mean THE GREATEST ! Gluten free fish chips and peas I have ever had in my entire life ! They deserve the attention from us GF eaters

Tasty fish and chips. A small portion is really more than enough! Unfortunately not that many seats inside.

Not a big menu to choose from but the food is beautiful and the chips are delicious, no warmed up chips here.

I visited The Good Catch on a visit from Scotland and it's by far the best fish supper I've ever tasted , I'm 66 so I've tasted a few in my life time , also the customer service was top notch , definitely worth a visit

Food was delicious pea fritter is something I've never had but is amazing

Service was slow. Might be due to it was the dinner rush. 🍽 and only having two staff on. Girl behind the counter was not happy when i asked if she was taking orders. Food was excellent, nothing to complain about.

My girlfriend got a sausage from there and got food poisoning been up for 2 days looking after her with being sick all day, would not recommend and ships come soggy and not coooked

I always come here on my lunch break for the salt and pepper chicken bites. They are unbelievable!! I changed for a small fish dinner and it was amazing! Chips so soft and the fish flakey and crunch!! Will deffo be getting that again!x

I was shocked to see how dirty the fryers were old chips floating in cold old oil, the frying surface looked like it hadn't had a clean for a week, I bought cod and chips and after getting home wish I hadn't the chips were cold and hard carton of curry was thick and cold fish was ok. Think the bin enjoyed it

We have called in here a few times after shopping for "a treat" lunch. Always good quality but this week it was exceptional, the service was excellent as usual and it was our best fish and chips ever. Everything cooked to order so was spanking fresh. Just got to stop ourselves calling in every week!

I gave 2 stars for the convenience of the car park, the chips were awful, hard and full of black bits. Will stick with Byrnes. Would not recommend.

Once ordered my food and was sat down eating it, I went to the counter to ask for tomato sauce but all the staff had walked away and went to the back where you cannot speak to them… all you could hear was the 2 girls sniggering and laughing with each other. When they came back to the front of the shop after 5 minutes I approached the girl behind the counter and asked her if she had any tomato sauce and she was very snotty telling me I had to queue up again to order tomato sauce - I understand that she was in the middle of putting together orders but she could’ve spoken to me much more politely rather than snapping that I had to queue. I also feel that as we were already eating and the only people in the restaurant, she could’ve cared more about the service.

I just got the vegetarian burger and it wss by far the nicest burger I've eaten! Staff are absolutely first class!

They need to sort there chips out! They're vile and the fishes are always greasy.

Visited sat 18th June had fish chips peas and curry,fish was very small for the money £9:55 and not crispy at all, chips were warm ups and some were hard they were sitting in a basket when we arrived and how you can sell curry like that mush we received is appalling no wonder there’s only us in there on the last two occasions will definitely not return it will probably close down soon as I’ve just seen all the bad reviews

Bought a cod fish today full of grease fish was not fresh very disappointed will never buy again from this shop.

Good quality food, always clean and tidy and the staff are spot on.

Been before, find it hit and miss. This was my last time after i ordered Fish, chips and spicy curry. Chips were tasteless, Fish was undercooked, curry was thick and not very much taste other than hot powder. Shame because when this place opened it was second to no one.

The Good catch in Great Homer street is very hot & miss. Today it was awful the fish tasted raw and the smallest portion of chips I’ve ever seen for £8 plus definitely not worth the money. I won’t be going back I’ll stick with going to Bynes chippy

The Fish and Chips are in general very good. But sometimes chips have been sitting there in drainers and just not the best. But if just cooked then really good

I ordered 2 chips curry an rice and fish chips gets home and the boiled rice wasn't cooked it was hard so I had to get my son to return them on his dinner break he gets bk home not much time left to eat as he gets 1 hr dinner break as hed already been to the good catch 2 times now and only gave chips and curry in return a small portion fuming as I originally payed for 2 large chips RICE and curry fish and chips and the 2 chips curry and rice was returned undercooked

Hit and miss but the oversell impression is that it’s satisfactory for the price paid

Very poor, man serving rude and antagonising , I asked for drinks but wasn't given any ,I had to return for them, he offered no apology, totally gormless ,I won't be returning, prices are extortionate too, Fish batter was all broken too and fish cakes far too expensive most expensive in Liverpool, a shop is only as good as it's worst reviews, so it's up to you , it's your money

awful food one of the worst i have tasted and not cheap couldint even cook a pie dinner and a sausage dinner 12 pound threw it in the bin

This is the second time on a Saturday that I have ordered the salt and pepper chicken and when picked it up they have apologised for no peppers/onions , not good really !!

Not very nice.also Asked for a small sausage and got a large one which looked a week old.

Only gave it 1 star so I could post review ,otherwise I'd have given ZERO. Chips were ok , fish batter was not too good to look at, looked dirty and very greasy,...onion rings give them a miss, salt and pepper too salty and none of the veg prepared like a chinese meal should , no peppers and just sliced onion ....pies cold ,rice cold. This is one shop I'll never return to.

Nice cod, cooked fresh, not from frozen. My only complaint is that the portions were small. My friend's scampi was just 5 balls and my cod was also small. Nice chips, properly cooked. They don't do chicken thighs, only chicken breast, and they don't have any rock salmon, unfortunately, so you're stuck with the cheaper types of fish, which makes it quite expensive for what it is.

This place is backwards, pie dinner, explain to me what I pie dinner is, exactly!!!! I got chips and pie..... I know, we're is the gravy and peas??? That's extra!!! Well it's not a pie dinner then??? Just collected fish dinner these are the worst chips i have ever seen or tasted must be warmed up numerous times. Have lost a loyal customer and family members. Disgraceful effort

Worst fish I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t worth the petrol or effort to return it. Went in the bin after looking like it was dragged out of someone’s pond. Supposed to be fresh as I ordered lightly battered and it literally looked as if it was made days ago and warmed up. Chips were dry. Peas and curry were nice though. I’ll never eat from there again. Feel like I’ve been robbed. Absolutely disgusting for a fish and chip shop that specialise in the 2 main ingredients of the meal yet looked on my plate as if it was made with hateful intentions. Never again.
