Always the best Chinese I’ve ever had. No other Chinese takeaway comes close

Best chinese takeaway by far in the northeast. Lovely staff too! We've moved to the other side of Durham but still make the journey through when we can. We'll worth it, just for the special curry!!

Unfortunately I have to mark the food down this time. I’ve enjoyed most of the ginger and spring onion combos as well as the stuffed crab claws had in the past 2 years but my husband , who is Malaysian, and our son were very disappointed with the dishes they chose for their first try of the food on offer. First, chicken satay was not the Malay version. It was chicken in a heavy sauce with veggies that had a slight flavour of peanuts. The sauce was not unlike the one used for the stir fry pork with garlic that my husband ordered (not stir fry as we are used to). So all round, not what we as Malaysian/ Brits are used to. It was underwhelming as the sauces seemed too similar for three different dishes.

Really bad chicken/prawn and cashew nut. The chicken tasted fake, rubbery and not like proper chicken. It didn’t taste like meat. Unusual flavour too. Disappointing as I usually like the food from here. The chicken has just put me off massively!

Very good food but does not accept debit cards. Cash point close by but often out of order or cash.

The best Chinese in the area. I have moved out of the village and still come here. They do great vegetarian choices, I always get the tofu in black bean sauce. Always amazing taste and good quality for money. The staff are very nice.

Always get a great meal from here. Well worth the travel and money 💰.

This was my first visit and can honestly say it was a pretty good meal. Chicken curry was very spicy and flavoured with soft chicken pieces. Not a fan of pea's in a curry but that didn't spoil it. The fried rice in my opinion was a little over done however still tasty and edible. The salt and pepper chips had quite a spicy kick and cooked very well. I will make a return visit when my go to Chinese is closed for its holiday period.

Always very good and quality food. Chicken mixed vegetables, Spring rolls , salt and pepper chicken, chicken balls and sauces all very nice.

It’s gone down hill. They can’t even cook decent chips with fried rice and sauce. Don’t waste you money.

Often have a lunchtime special (available Fri and Sat) I LOVE the curry sauce from here. Food good, nice and clean, always quick with order. 👍

Great service and delicious food!

Used this takeaway because our usual was closed. No duck skin so no crispiness and the shredded meat was entirely bland, tepid and poor in texture. I would guess bought in ready cooked, plus it was a few £ dearer than we normally pay for a far superior product. I am astounded at the good reviews on here TBH as I have asked several people who live in the village (we don't) and I am yet to hear anyone say anything complementary about The Golden Valley.

The worst crispy duck ever - no skin so how could it be crispy and tasteless shredded meat. I am pretty sure the meat would have been bought in pre cooked. Horrible and expensive

Disappointing after reading the reviews bigging up this place house special curry was a packet mix as had no flavour at all and meat was dry

They have a great choice and everything we have had as been great. The staff are lovely and very helpful

Always tasty food and quick to collect. Highly reccomend the chow mein - they use 'real' meat. Have never had anything other than a great meal from here!

Tried this Chinese takeaway for the first time tonight after the demise in service and food quality from our regular outlet a few miles away. The service was excellent, served with a smile and impeccable manners and the food was fantastic!! This is my/our new regular Chinese from now on. Highly recommended!!

Takeaway only but you can order by phone and pick up to save time. Lovely pleasant family run business. Service is very friendly and they are always eager to please. The food has always been to a good standard and we are regular visitors.

great take away very friendly and the guy and his wife always have a smile on there face we go here most saturday night for our cheat meal

Have tried quite a few dishes off the menu, and is always delicious. Food is not filled with onion and veg, like others, but has plenty of meat in the portions. Meals are a good size, and very well priced. Staff are always freindly and happy. No delivery service, but this means they can concentrate on cooking fab meals.!

Husband often gets satay chicken and chips, ok

We travel from Blackhill in Consett to this takeaway as it is the best one around, shame they don't deliver but it's worth the travel. The staff are really friendly and food is delicious.

I've been a customer here for years and the owners never fail to provide a warm welcome and great food. Always served quickly, always friendly so I always return.
