The worst prawn fried rice I’ve had. All rice with no onion, several prawns and about 20 peas. Never again! Absolutely dry and tasteless. Don’t know how you get 4 stars.

Best Chinese in bishop. 5 star hygiene. Let down by cash only payment (did they not learn from the pandemic) and dirty appearance inside, makes me think whether the kitchen is clean.

Service for takeaway was super fast. The lass who served us had a great sense of humour. Food was very good and big portion. Try their pancake roll.

Can’t get an order write never go again

So we ordered house special curry with chips (chips come with the curry apparently or rice) portion of curry sauce and portion of house special fried rice. So house special curry served with chips £6.30. Portion of curry sauce £1.10. Portion of house special fried rice £5.50. So we where charged £17.50 and we went in to pick up. So the maths doesn't add up.

Brilliant used them for years. No problems from us. 😊 😊 food exceptionally Delicious 😋 deliveries ok.

I called to place an order for chow mein. Upon my order being received it was a small dish of plain noodles. I called the shop to correct this. The person stated this was plain chow mein and that's the order I asked for. This was not correct. They did not even offer an apology. Let alone to replace the order with what was correct.. I've tried to check on line everywhere for their menu to check the price of plain noodles ( this cannot be found anywhere). As they have charged me for chow mein and delivery total £9.60. this is disgusting and I will never be calling this place again and I strongly advise others to be careful and check their orders.

Great Chinese take away, fast service and easy parking outside or across the road in supermarket car park, curry sauce can some times be a bit on the thick side. Our number one choice in the town.

Had a take away on Saturday. The worst meal I've ever had. The hole thing went in the bin.Rang to complain and the lady shouted at me and said I was telling lies. I will never get another meal from them.

I specifically asked whether the chicken could be well cooked and was told all chicken is cooked the same. After explaining that my last order from there over 3 years ago resulted in food poisoning the lady said well cooked is possible. After collecting the chicken it was no different and still slightly pink in the middle. The meal went into the bin. I will never order from there again.

Waited a little bit longer than normal due to the Covid, but well worth the wait, delicious as usual, wouldn't go anywhere else ...first class xx

Great food and great people running it

Normally, would have gone out to a nice restaurant, & worn our glad rags. But in the lockdown, of course, that was not possible. So we had a takeaway instead, & chose these, as we have had lovely meals from them before. Having lived in Yuen Long, Hong Kong, we believe we know a good Chinese meal. We chose Mini Spring Rolls, King Prawn & Beef Chow Mein, & Duck in Peking Sauce, with Fried Rice. The Spring rolls, were not greasy, and were nice and crisp, the King Prawn & Beef was very tasty & the beef not at all chewy, and the Duck was so tender. Prices are reasonable, and as the food is so good, worth paying more than inferior places. We will continue to choose this take away. A note of caution, they do not accept card payments, so visit the hole in the wall first, but they do deliver.

Absolutely disgusting slop rice had been previously cooked and reheated ? Took forever for delivery? Used to be excellent standard of food with previous owners wont be ordering again.

Nervous about trying a new takeaway on a busy New Year’s Eve, but the 11 of us were really impressed with the food and we will be back for more in 2019!

Always delivered within 30min by really friendly delivery drivers. Food is always delicious and hot. Even when you ask for something to be changed (no bean sprouts etc) they always get your order right. 100% reccomended.

Always had lovely food from here fair prices always got when delivered don't let the look of the shop put you off as good is good 👍

Very poor do not order from hear gone downhill poor food and never get your order right this is the last time i will be ordering from hear order liver and bacon and got no liver but no refund rung them but they not bothered food realy greasy and cold been getting food from hear for 10yrs last two years been awfull change of chef i think..disgusting ...keep away go somewhere else..very poor now

It doesn't look much from the outside but this is the best Chinese takeaway in Bishop Auckland. Sunday night is our treat night and look forward to it every week. When collecting, it's only a 10 minute wait. Plenty of on street parking and also Morrisons car park over the road. Sweet and sour, black bean, szechuan and curry is just awesome.

Couldn't get order right the was accused of lieing going down hill this place

The people working at this place is horrendous, ordered my food at 19:12 and as usual, delivery will be over an hour (when if u get collection, it will be ready in 10 mins) never-the-less, the food is nice and we can wait. After 1 1/2 hours, food arrived cold. When i called in regards, they said the food isnt cold it goes out fresh. I told them i didnt doubt that but the driver must have been driving around for a while and the food has simply gone cold. They offered me a 10% discount but concidoring i spend £17 (£3 of which is delivery and i live 2 villages away) is only £1.70 off. They told me that they cant do anything else and if i cant accept, then go to another shop for food. Very disrespectful and clearly dont care about the customer.

My chow mein was absolutely beautiful. It was the first time ive ordered from there because it was reccomend by a friend but it will now be my regular take away. The delivery was fast, the food was hot, quality fantastic and the delivery man was lovely.

Average!!! Had to look for the meats in my special black bean dish. Compared to other takeaways in the area overpriced. Normally when I pay £29 I would get free prawn crackers and spring rolls here nothing.

Looks a dirty and run down from the outside..but the food is good and consistent.the chips are Chinese chips like oven chips.not the ones from the chip shop which is disgusting with Chinese food..overall a good take away.

Fast delivery at times often a lot less then the hour stated.and the food is of a consistent quality..the chips are like a oven chip and not like fish n chip shop chips with I find disgusting when eaten with Chinese food.hope this helps others.

El pollo estaba en dados similares que desde Islandia, sin textura, sabor de pollo o la salsa curry, a derramado sobre el piso no se había metido en las piezas de pollo. Muy decepcionado y no vamos allí. Lo siento.

This take away has been in town for at least 30 years, always good food and good service, delivery available and parking available outside the premises, a good menu and large portions, best Chinese take away in town.

We have used this chinese for over 25 years, always good food and a competitive price too, we enjoy the curries, the food is always good and fresh. They deliver too.

This is our go to Chinese Takeaway. Food is always exactly the same, the service quick and staff very efficient.

Don't let the appearance put you off. As everyone is saying, this is one hell of a Chinese. The food is greasy, in a good way. It's quite anglicised, but their are some authentic treats in the menu that will scream of East Asia.

On most visits this chinese supplies very good food. They are very generous portions and if not too hungry could feed two. We have found on rare occasions the meat can be not up to their usual standard. Would recommend for a meal and very friendly staff.

We have used Red Double Happiness for many years now and occasionally we have opted to try new ventures but they have never compared to this take away. On a weekend collection and delivery can be long it is worth the wait (ring and order in advance, don't wait till your starving)!If your yet to try it, give it a go.

We had tried other Chinese takeaway restaurants in bishop but had always been disappointed .We tried here and had a great meal also was good size portions.We have not tried home delivery so can not comment on that but we will be returning here as all our meals where lovely

This is another of the Chinese takeaway fast food places. The food is catered for the European palate and there is no authenticity to their food. However after saying that, the food is nice and tasty and they are no different than many of the other Chinese takeaways.

A local favorite for many years. I would never order from anywhere else in the Bishop Auckland area.

For Chinese food you don't have to go far than try this it is really good the value for money is good as well.

First time iv ordered from the red double happiness, egg fried rice & curry and chips and gravy only came to £6.10 "bishop to tindale" great price! Cheaper then any other iv been to, could of been a little hotter but didnt make a diffence to the food it was beauitful, alltough the gravy i didnt really like.. But i like thick gravy, anyway hope this helps, hope this doesnt stop you from ordering from here. Altough rating is 11 out of 10 ;) :) WOULD ORDER AGAIN. WOULD RECOMMEND. PERFECT PRICE. Been going here for years and really think its going down hill had a few bad meals this year now my shrimp were all burned and had the black waste still in them which is happening more often than not my partner got chicken and king prawn curry the prawn had shell on and tasted rubbery and sour and under cooked really disappointing I like this take away but may have to find a new Chinese restaurant to eat from I had to take back meal and when I got my replacement it has come with no rice when I phoned again they said I need to pick up or wait 20 mins for rice so done with out as my meal was already cold how disappointed I am

This take away is in Bishop Auckland town centre on the main street.(Newgate Street). Lke most Chinese take aways it caters for a European Chinese take away taste. It is quite popular with the local community and they do deliveries. Their prices are comparable with other Chinese take aways. Unfortunately there is nothing too authentic about their dishes. It is as you would expect. If you have ever dined at a proper Chinese restaurant and experienced the authentic taste and then buy a take away you will be disappointed. Take it for what it is and you will bre happy.

we have been getting currys from here for a long time tried others but always go back to red double, not bad prices and a good choice and always arrive hot,

always brilliant, never a disappointment.

The food there is absolutely delicious the staff are very friendly and helpful would certainly advise paying them a visit

We love this place and eat here all the time. You know it's great good when the lady says over the phone it's an hour waiting time. I don't mind this as the food is always great. I just love to get home on a Friday and get my fav. Chicken curry fried rice and chips. I love this meal. Please use this place guys. It's great. Really good food.
