The Golden Star in Glasgow City

Absolutely honking got a special curry and chicken chow mein and put it in the bin. 1/10 rotten had a better curry out iceland.

Food said £7.80 on the menu but charged me £8.10 so must be 30p for a bag which I find a rip off. Food was very bland and lukewarm, had to microwave it. Looked nothing like the meal they showed on the photos on their Facebook page . I wouldn't go back.

Ordered salt and chilli chips They were disgusting no fresh onions it was dried onions through the reheated disgusting chips Will definitely not order from here again

Ordered chicken balls and fried rice in the one container, asked for this to have the sauce separately but it was like easterhouse swimming baths with curry sauce, chicken ball were full of dough also

Foned a delivery at 4.37pm still not received my order at 17.30.. The owner txt me asking could a take the order n they put in free prawn crackers told them no chance a already foned for a other Chinese with took 20 mins

Phoned for a delivery at 5:57pm. Order price was £35.40. It is now 9pm still no food! Tried to call the shop numerous times,phone was engaged each time. They prob had phone off the hook! Absolute disgrace! I will not be using the place again. A call back to let us know what was happening would have been good. Must do better Golden Star.👎👎👎👎 Update..... i had to add to this review. After waiting 3 hours we got food from elsewhere. At 10pm my door went and guess what.......! Yes the food i ordered at 5:57pm arrived! The poor girl delivering looked mortified asked if i still wanted it,lol. I said no. We had already ate. Now maybe if shop answered my numerous calls i could have went along and picked the food up. So all in all poor show from The Golden Star.

Panko box was absalute banging ma new Chinese from now on.Waited an hour and half but wasn't to fust as was well worth the wait and came hot as well.Perfection.

Clearly that busy can't get through after an hour of trying- like busy!

Usually brilliant service waited over an hour which the girl did say when on phone sounded stressed and recieved my meal only looking forward to curry sauce and recieved a sauce that I dont like very disappointed

Too an age waiting for it and messed up part of order, but it was generally tasty food

Food is normally very good, quick delivery. However, last visit we received a weird chip/chicken ball hybrid instead of just chips. Also the staff were shouting and complaining about delivery business and bad organisation. Which was unsettling and uncomfortable while waiting to collect listening to swearing rants. Usually 4 stars but dropped from last visit.

Nice workers and Great food, the food itself is class and the waiting times are very short, best Chinese in the barrachnie and the curry is banging. (The 3 in 1 tray is elite)

Curry was tasteless Onions were black in my curry Salt n chilli chips were stinking Disappointing as it says it’s the best awarded chinese lol, Won’t be back.

Very disappointed ordered a curry from here just there and it’s worst curry ever no Taste to it chicken is horrible more onions and chicken and the chips are horrible nothing nice about it at all

I visited today after finding this chinese on my find gluten free food app. I cant believe how good it is! Ive been diagnosed coeliac for a year and this is officially the best thing I have eaten since. Staff were so helpful and reassuring. One of the girls even agreed that she doesn’t understand why more places dont offer gluten free alternatives, because it is so simple! I will be back in future. Happy to be moving to the area next year as we have found our new local!! 🤩 10/10

Ordered a chicken satay, curry sauce, and salt and chilli chips. Awful isn't a good enough word to describe it. Both satay and curry sauce were gloopy. Chicken satay skewers were burnt, therefore dry and tasteless. Chips had the nice coating, however it tasted like smash fake potatoes were inside. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone who likes a good Chinese takeaway. If you want a good Chinese. I would recommend super food along the road

Visited here today as my usual Chinese takeaway was closed not been in 2 year and won’t be back. Satay was tasteless and watery, peking sauce tastes strange and sour no sweetness. Waste of £22 won’t be back unfortunately!!

Girl serving was nice. Food was ok. £7.10 for Vegetable Curry and Fried Rice. Used to be one of the best Chinese takeaways but think there may be new owners. Didn't have to wait long for food to be served.

Ventured here a few times before and thought it decent enough. Ordered breast of chic curry (whole), salt n chilli ribs and soft noodles. How can you get it so wrong you ask? Curry sauce was like slop. Seen it brewing on the hot plate in a 20ltre pot. It tasted as if it caught the bottom of the pot. The chicken being whole, was thrown in a microwave I think. It was tough and chewy, but not dry. Ribs were cut into knuckle sizes putting them straight on the back foot, it'll come to a sorry end when one is jammed stuck in your throat. Really nothing to write home about I'm afraid.

5 star service and 5 star food!

Food was very nice and full of flavour. Shop was clean and warm, though the wait for the food was a bit too long. One of the few takeaways in the area to take card payment (3 other takeaways lost sales for being cash only). Definitely recommended.

Used this takeaway for years complained as the meal was terrible it took 10 days for the manager to get back to us to accuse us of only wanting a free meal lol

Good food. Szechuan actually had some spice which was really good. Got a free salt and spiced chips and it tasted surprisingly good- will probably order that again. Good food.

Top marks all round for the Golden Star - can't rate it highly enough - well worth a visit. My wife and I have been getting our takeaways from here for some time now - the food is always spot on, can highly recommend the Chicken Chow Mein! Staff are always friendly, great prices too. Chicken satay on skewers meal in the one container is great value. Four large skewers of chicken are lovely - best in the East End. Staff are nice and friendly too and always prompt delivery.

Purely based on the beef curry! Extremely rubbery, cheapest beef used, you could bounce it off the wall! Other basic items are good that you can’t get wrong such as chips and curry sauce etc just shame about the beef :-(

Great food, massive portions and decent prices. Try the salt and chilli chicken - really spicy (chilli flakes, slices chillies, and chilli oil. Fantastic! If you're ordering chow mein, keep in mind they add mushrooms (yeah, seriously) - so you might need to ask them to hold that if you're a mushroom hater. Friendly bunch, they often throw in some extras (crackers, etc) if you're ordering a couple of meals. Decent delivery times.
