Really tasty food at a reasonable price. Staff are always lovely and waiting time is not too long.

Discovered this place a couple of months ago, have had about 5/6 meals from here, so time to review, have to say this is the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time, every meal has been perfect, very authentic food, can't recommend them enough, black pepper dishes are amazing, the staff are friendly and polite, try them you won't regret it

Authentic and legit! Stayed at nearby premier inn and found this takeaway l, was so happy to have bought food from here, meal was satisfying, more than enough for 4 of us

New owners, really poor service and the food is not too good either, go elsewhere, would not recommend anymore.

Had chicken fried rice for lunch & it was very nice.

We have been going to the Golden Star for many years, it is always delicious food and great service.

Really good Chinese take away. Beef curry was tender. Fried rice has that Wok Hei flavour! Salt and pepper chips were 👌🏻I haven’t found a good Chinese take away in a while.

Friend took me to and recommended this place, family run for over 40 years and still going strong! Best Chinese tested in long time! Excellent Quality and resenoably priced! Cash payment only and do not deliver, so worse it to come and collect! Highly recommended!

Chips were just chips. But the fish was small, pale in colour, awful taste and texture. Not like other chippies. I'll stick to Big Fish next time !

The food is very good worth going, on a Saturday you will have wait an hour for food but worth it when it comes

Great food, slightly disappointed that customers didn't seem to have the courtesy to respect the owners request to wear a mask as per the sign on the door.No reflection on the owners they were fully masked.I suppose most people think Covid is over but I suspect it's not.

Polite staff and food is delicious and high in quality. I often order the appetiser, Salt and Pepper King prawns which is a meal in itself.

Easily the best I've tasted in Gatley and Chealde. Not salty. Fresh meat, no frozen defrosted meat. Fresh veg, ribs were not fried to DEATH. Quality over quantity

What can I say!!!!!Absolutely amazing!!!! King Prawn. ginger and spring onion. All of it was Fantastic!! Even the prawn crackers are the best I've ever had. I don't normally eat many. We finished them all!

Lovely takeaway, did a search on google to find one with good reviews and it definitely didn't disappoint, although I couldn't find a menu on line! I rang and asked for our favourite; sweet & sour fish which wasn't a problem, when I arrived to pick it up I picked up a menu and couldn't find sweet & sour fish anywhere, but they had still done it and it was gorgeous, what a service! Definitely go there again!!!

Used to go regularly for a takeaway and as we had not been since lockdown decided it was time to enjoy some delicious chinese food. Started with hot and sour soup which was superb followed by singapore vermicelli, very tasty and full of meat and king prawns. Will certainly be going again soon.

The food rating should be out of 10 we would give them 11. We have had two takeaways since it has reopened and both meals have been excellent. Family run , very personable ,excellent food at very reasonable prices. Would eat more of this food more often if we could! Credit where it is due , we will continue to order from here from now on. First visit tonight. The place is clean and the staff friendly. I couldn't place a phone order as I couldn't download a menu so had to go on spec. There was an acceptable length of waiting time given that a number of people were already waiting when I arrived. Food is clearly freshly cooked. We had a mixed starter which was nice. Crisp and tasty. The lemon chicken was very succulent which was particularly pleasing as the last two Chinese takeaways I've used had very stringy, dry chicken. The only let down was the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken pieces were served separately and fortunately didn't have too much batter on them. But they weren't crispy either. The worst bit was the sauce, provided in a polystyrene tub. The flavour was ok but it was virtually devoid of vegetables. There were a few wafer thin strings of something. So fine that I wasn't even sure if it was onion or carrot or both. No pineapple, no peppers, no real pieces of onion or carrot which I do like to accompany sweet and sour. Shame.

Been a few times and there are always people waiting and lots of telephone orders, a good sign of its popularity. Service is always very friendly and prices comparable with other take aways in the area, The bbq and salt and pepper ribs are both exceptional. Portions overall are excellent and we always order too much! Will definitely return.

All the meals we tried were very nice, but we would need to try more before giving 5* Pricing seemed fair too.

I’ve eaten at this takeaway for over 20 years but unfortunately the previous owners have sold the business and the new owners promised things wouldn’t change! Well unfortunately it has, the ingredients have changed and the quality of food has changed! We tried 3 rimes but gave up. Not what’s it was. 😢

Another visit and not disappointed with the food, Hot and sour soup, barbecue ribs and special chow mein, all delicious and great portions, Must praise the staff as they are so friendly especially the lady and young man that are always there. Will definitely return.

Lived in the area for 2 years and only just got round to ordering from The Golden Star. The service was good, with complimentary Fortune Cookies for my children to keep them entertained, being a welcome touch. Ordered starters and mains off the Chinese Menu and was not disappointed. We'll definitely be going back. Keen to try their English offering as well, the fish and chips I saw being served looked good as well. I'd especially recommend the salt and pepper ribs .. honestly, the best I've ever had.

The food has always been a very good standard for a takeaway.....this has been a regular for my family for a number of years and never fails to fill the spot with delicious food. If your in the area why not give it a try ;)

Brilliant service, brilliant food, great value, We moved to the area 3 years ago and even though recently there has been a change of owner the food, price and some of the staff have all stayed the same. I've tried most Chinese in the area and this by far is the best.

Seems to have changed servers but still the same chef. Not sure what all that's about but the new staff are very polite and welcoming though i do miss the old lot! Since the change the food has stayed just as lovely as always! Best chinese around Heald Green by far.

Very nice food, handy if your local but expensive. £3.10 for a small chips and curry. Portions are not big, so great if you like a smaller portion. Couldn’t get a portion to share.

We really enjoyed the takeaway , everything was fresh and tasty .The order taking lady was very pleasant too. This has become our regular Chinese even though there are many closer.

Known locally as Dave’s for some reason. Anyway always a tasty option. Probably struggles a little for custom as it is tucked away on a dead end so little passing traffic. A hidden gem it is then.

Fantastic food at reasonable prices the best Chinese takeaway in the area in our opinion Always a friendly welcome too and spotlessly clean But I would recomend that if you don't want to wait for your food too long In the shop it is worth phoning through your order in advance

Truly one of the best Chineses around, this is (and see the emphasis here) truly a diamond found in the *rough* you simply cannot beat what you get for the price and the absolute quality of the food, the place is also incredibly pristine, to this day despite moving to Stockport I still cannot recommend a better place and whenever I can I will be going here for a Chinese. If I had to recommend only one thing from the menu it would be the incredibly Unique Sweet and Sour food they do here, it still has yet to be beaten by any other it is truly the crème de la crème of Chineses in my opinion

Moved away approx 2 years ago then made a return visit today. Still as good as ever unfortunately still not taking card payments or providing delivery but they are so busy they obviously do not struggle with customers . See you soon

About a year since our first visit and as good as ever. Prices haven't changed and food still very good. Always get very friendly service. One of the best Chinese take aways in the area.

My son loves the BBQ ribs, can't go anywhere else for ribs.

Ordered same as last time and food ready when we arrived to collect. Soup followed by mixed meat chow mein, all delicious. Good value and will return.

Great take away food, compares with some restaurants. Hot and sour and chicken and sweetcorn soup both really tasty and good portions. Singapore vermicelli delicious, not too spicy and lots of prawns, char sui etc. Mixed meat chow mein also delicious with chicken breast, king prawns, beef and pork. Better than most of the local take aways and really good value.

Best Chinese around Heald Green by far. The portions are a little small but the food is amazing. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Prices are fair and competitive.

My family have been going to this Chinese takeaway for 30 years! Never once have any of us had a bad experience. The barbecue spare ribs are my favourite can taste them now thinking about them! Yum!

Best chinese you will ever have hands down me and my family get the same thing every friday its amazing very nice people who work there if you dont belive me its as good as i say go and try it!
