M & J Chinese Restaurant in Stockport

We had a Chinese Banquet for 6 to celebrate Chinese New Year..On arrival the Staff met us with a warm welcome...All the food on the banquet was Amazing and Plentiful and All The Staff made it a Great Night Out

The spare ribs in OK sauce and syrup are the best I've ever tasted.

This is our favourite place to eat. Julie and Michael ( the owners) are a wonderful, kind and friendly couple and the food is always fantastic.

Good food but very stingy with portions particularly the starter. At 27 a head I expected a bit more. Still looking for a Chinese restaurant.

Lovely place. The food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. We had a mixed starter, usual stuff, but all done to a very good standard, which was lovely. Then a mix of different main courses to share, and they were all so tasty. There were 3 of us, and it cost around about £40 each,with drinks. I think it's worth it. 10 out of 10.

Me and my family just had an absolutely delightful dining experience at 𝗠 & 𝗝 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁. Opting to dine in, we savored a scrumptious meal. I relished the Salt & Pepper Chicken, Boiled Rice & Curry Sauce, while my Mum enjoyed the same with Egg Fried Rice. Additionally, we savored Beef Chow Mein and Chips. The chicken was incredibly fresh, succulent, and bursting with flavor. As someone with mobility challenges, the staff's friendliness and attentiveness truly stood out, as they promptly assisted me upon arrival. The restaurant was impeccably clean and boasted a charming atmosphere with beautiful decor, and surprisingly, despite a good number of patrons, it offered a serene ambiance. I would highly recommend either a takeaway or eating in.

My wife and I went to the restaurant last Friday evening and were just in time for the Early Bird menu. The meal was fantastic and the service was second to none. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more attentive. I would recommend this restaurant and we will certainly return.

Visited this restaurant a couple of times over the Christmas period to get takeaway whilst in the area visiting someone. We were so impressed that we ended up making an excuse to visit again last week just to get another takeaway. The dim sum we tried were all delicious - crispy prawn fun kor with a perfectly crispy batter, siu mai (not the cash and carry ones you get from other takeaways but ones made from actual chopped pork and prawns with a really beautiful flavour), and prawn envelopes - all highly recommended! The main dishes we tried (of which we had quite a few) were also really good - all had great flavour and tender meat. The prices are so reasonable and we were very happy to have discovered this place - just a shame we live a bit too far away to visit all the time as I am constantly craving those dim sum!

Food was great, staff are nice and friendly. Had a very enjoyable evening. Will be going again.

We have been going here for years, even takeaways during lockdown. The staff are super friendly and the food is great. They even do early birds if you want to eat early and reduce the cost.

Delicious food - can recommend the sesame prawn toast, vegetable spring rolls, curried chicken samosa, crispy prawn won ton, seaweed, BBQ ribs, prawn crackers, sweet and sour chicken, king prawn in satay, crispy chilli beef and egg fried rice! 😊 Excellent from order to collection, will be back again! 😀

Excellent food and customer service

Delivery arrived late after ringing to find out where my meal was after an hour. They initially told us 45 mins and eventually turned up well over an hour after the order was placed. The food was below standard. Cold chips, (ribs) had a strong vinegar taste and really not good to eat. Very disappointed in the service as we looked at the reviews before selecting this restaurant. Sadly we will not be using this establishment again.

This is a hidden gem. Don't be put off by the dated exterior - the food is first class. So much homemade stuff - the homemade dim sum was the best I've had outside China. Homemade chilli sauce - excellent. Ask them for their homemade options - you won't be disappointed- can't believe we've not been here before :) Wow

Just had a lockdown birthday takeaway from M&J. Food was hot and Freshly cooked.. The home made Sui Mai and Spring Roll were absolutely delicious... We have missed seeing the owner, and despite the Face Masks they gave Ips a cheery wave.

We visited here for a midweek treat. My better half had wanton soup and a special chow mein from the main menu and I had the hot and sour soup and a pork dish from the early evening offer menu. All the food was excellent with friendly service too. We usually go into Manchester for Chinese food and the standard of this would stand comparison to most of them.

We have been here for a couple of meals with a large group and just the two of us previously. I just love this place! The dim sum is fantastic and the portions are huge, we will be having super fancy packed lunches for work tomorrow. Already looking forward to our next visit!

A large family party with young kids was made so welcome and nothing to much trouble. Very tast food.

This is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever visited. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and I certainly hope to sample the cuisinary delights of this independent family run restaurant again soon.

This is a nice friendly family run restaurant. The food is well prepares and is very tasty. Parking is easy as there is parking outside (if quiet) or across road in public car park. The take away side is very good too.

Booked this for a double family birthday celebration. From booking through to leaving the service and attention we received was wonderful. We mad lots of food requests, all of which were delivered without any complaints and always with a smile. Happy Birthday played on the violin by the talented young man was a very special touch to the evening The food was delicious and plenty of it Nicest Chinese I’ve had for a while and definitely will be returning Thank you again for helping this evening go so well

You will find is restaurant on the A6 in high lane with parking at the front. The service was excellent and the place is very clean and modern. You can have what’s called an early bird which is served from 5-7 every night but you must ask for it as I only found out about it when somebody else on another table asked for it. You will find all information in the pictures attached. The food was hot and very enjoyable and I will be going back.

After driving past for many years I decided to give M&J's a try. I'm very glad I did! The owners are extremely great at customer service and a generally lovely couple. The food is fantastic for the cost and the portions are very large. I will definitely bring my friends and family next time.

Michael and Julie run a friendly restaurant and I have had both takeaways and eat in meals, including taking friends. The quality of the food is lovely, especially the crispy duck and the my favourite the chow mein.

A real family business. Friendly, attentive and nothing too much trouble. The early bird menu was a winner. Delicious soup, a range of dim sum and tasty and generous main. Service was excellent and background music was pleasant and not intrusive.

We went here as a last minute decision. We did book before we arrived, the restaurant was fairly busy. The atmosphere warm and friendly. We were were seated quickly and soon got our drinks and were perusing the menu. We decided on a banquet for 4 people. The food arrived fairly quickly and we were not disappointed, the food was very tasty and the portion sizes were generous.

Terrible experience!!! Ordered a takeaway at 18.22 and advised it would take 1 hour - no problem. When placing the order i gave full address including postcode. After an hour and a half i rang to check on our order - again gave postcode, advised it wouldn't be too long. After 2 and a half hours the restaurant phoned me to say that they would NOT be delivering our order due to distance (on google maps we were 15 mins away). We were then left ordering at 9pm from another take away who delivered from a further distance with no issues. Would NOT recommend at all!

First ever visit to this Chinese restaurant - Chose one of the banquet menus - excellent food apart from the beef one of the main courses which was poor quality - very attentive service and would visit again in the future.

We stumbled across M&J;'s Chinese on the way back from visiting family in search of takeaway food. When we arrived we decided to eat in and were very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The restaurant is nice and tastefully decorated, the staff and service was excellent and the food was delicious.

We’ve had about 5-6 takeaways from here and it is most definitely the best in the area. Proper Chinese food and nice friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

On 23rd Feb this restaurant hosted a Chinese New Year Lion Dance party, what an amazing evening! Great food, great entertainment, great service!!

Han pasado algunos años desde que frecuentamos este restaurante, pero el sábado por la noche reservamos una mesa, estoy muy contento de haberlo hecho. La comida era excelente, el servicio excelente y, lo mejor de todo, la propietaria Julie en realidad se acordó de nosotros y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos, como la familia no visto en años. Está a solo un par de millas de casa, pero no importaría, lo disfrutamos tanto, viajaríamos millas. Estamos ansiosos por nuestra próxima visita. Gracias. X

We were staying for 5 nights in the local area and ate here 3 nights - that should be indicative to the high quality of M&J;'s food, welcome, atmosphere, everything...!

My mum and Dad are big fans of this restaurant so we went for Christmas day and has a very lovely meal.

We went to this restaurant after a very long drive and needed some rest but couldn't stop for long either. As we both do love chinese food we decided to stop there, The staff were very welcoming from the start, then sat us down at a well presented table and served us some nibbles and drinks, whilst taking our orders as we had mentioned we were on a tight schedule.The food was absolutely wonderful and cooked to the perfection ( at least to my standards), the portion were generous. The owner came to have a little chat with us and wasn't not intruding at all. Friendly and attenttive to our needs we really enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. The place was very clean and relaxing, the backround music was not invasive at all but pleasant. We would really advise a visit there if you want friendliness, excellent food and a very good range of dishes. We will definitely return there again.Thank you to the owners and staff.

Went with another couple on a Friday evening. A few other tables occupied. Excellent attentive staff, matched by the excellent food. Very reasonably priced bar and menu. Would recommend to anyone, looking for tasty Chinese food at a affordable price. Worth a visit.

Nos gusta especialmente Julie que es tan maravilloso y servicial. Si estás sin gluten también puede cocinar platos encantador para usted.

Es un largo tiempo desde que me habían pasado a este restaurante y nunca fue particularmente impresionado con él, sin embargo, visitó los martes por la noche y me quedé sorprendido.

Luminoso y moderno el nuevo restaurante chino, especializado en pato asado, pollo, cerdo y mariscos. Con todos los tipos de fideos de arroz y/o. Buena variedad de cervezas y vinos. Muy bien presentada. El personal era simpático y la comida sabe muy bien. Sopas son realmente especiales y mucho. Voy a hacer de este un favorito habitual.

Take away meal as restaraunt to bright & not relaxing, have just had the worst meal ever, definately gone down hill had a bad meal over Xmas just thought they were busy & gave them another chance tonight, can't even eat my meal pak far duck £9 tastes horrible have thrown it away rest of family just about tolerated theirs won't be using them again,.

Tuvimos una comida para llevar esta noche. Fue preparado en la hora indicada, lo que siempre es bueno.

Hemos estado en M&J; un par de veces y tenía una comida para llevar entregados por ellos. El personal es encantador, la señora no tiene el mejor inglés, bendita sea, pero ella es muy acogedor. La comida es muy buena, es el mejor de la zona, en mi opinión, ya que la cocina en wok se trasladó desde Bramhall a Handforth. Sin duda volveremos, no vayas a ningún otro sitio.

The quality and quantity was very good, well worth the short walk to pick up the food and every one that had the meal was very pleased and made positive comments, we will visit here again when we come to see our family again

This was our second visit here and all 8 of us had a great meal . Starters and main courses. Plenty to drink, good service. All for just £30 per head inc tip. Just give it a try.

If there are more than four in your group don't bother as they do not have more than one chef/cook in the kitchen. They should train some of the 'front of house' in cooking as the 6 staff on didn't do much. The 'family staff' were running around sorting the few tables of fours, going back and forth because of missing orders. The other staff must have started that night and just stood there.. Didn't check if customers wanted drinks when first seated or through their meals. They couldn't go behind bar as they were 15 or 16 and the owner who was moved slower than Wayne Rooney. We had to physically get up in groups and order from bar then struggle back to seats and wait for drinks to arrive. It took over and hour for the soup to arrive and still we had over half a dozen folk wait even longer as not enough made. They did not offer any explanation and gave impression they didn't want to anyway. We complained and complained. Eventually they apologised and said it was ready. They took about ten mins to bring out plates and another 10 went by with nothing coming out so folk just had enough and left. Even had cheek to try and get payment. They should have paid us for our time lost. What little food that came out from the start was quite nice but to wait 3 hours and still no mains is appalling. So you have been warned.. Even a group of four had to argue over the bill as they were being charged for food they never ordered and over charged on what they did have. They only people who should go here are the authorities to check who works there and the revenue that doesn't make it to the books, and reckon immigration book a table.

I'm still trying to work out how a perfectly good chinese restaurant managed to cock up such a great booking.

Llegamos a las 7pm y después de varios errores de organización todavía estábamos esperando para nuestra red a las 10:00 pm. Por este tiempo fue pasado a todo el mundo o harto! El restaurante no estaba preparado para una fiesta de 25 a pesar de la reserva con antelación y no tienen suficiente personal de esa noche para nosotros. Se suponía que era una adorable familia reunirse para celebrar una ocasión especial que se convirtió en un fiasco. Todo lo que puedo ver es que si estás planeando una gran celebración fiesta no reserve aquí! Es una pena como la pequeña cantidad de comida que nos dieron era realmente agradable!

Disfruté del mejor ganado sopa ton que he tenido, seguido por un simple pollo con alubias negras. Mi esposa tenía una sopa de fideos de pollo y pollo dulce y agria y compartimos una hermosa luz arroz frito de huevo. En otras visitas hemos disfrutado hermosos dim sum, todos recién hechos por el chef. Este es ahora nuestro restaurante favorito chino

Decidimos probar el restaurante chino alto sólo fuera después de cambiar de carril de manos de la antigua "Jardín Chino". Nuevos dueños, nuevo personal tanto al frente de la casa y en la cocina. Extenso y variado menú de catering para los consumidores de carne y vegetarianos.

Estaba en la zona un poco de turismo y estaba un poco aprensivo acerca de probar un restaurante chino local como la mayoría del tiempo su decepcionado. Después de haber viajado por todo el mundo un poco de calidad cuando sé que probar uno y este restaurante tenía el terreno. La decoración era más funcional y luego en la cara, pero para un restaurante chino local el ambiente que creó era más adecuado. Como la mayoría de otros han dicho, la pareja que lo dirige son muy bonitas.

Siete de nosotros fuimos para mi sobrino y su novia graduación. celebración Tuvimos el Banquete A. absolutamente fabulosa, el personal y los propietarios son excelentes. Recomiendo encarecidamente este chino. Incluso había desaparecido la molestia de comprar dos tarjetas y algunos dulces.

Tuvimos una comida increíble, tuvimos el buffet del domingo, donde pides lo que quieres fresca en el menú. Que quieren probar todo muy servicial en darnos todo de porciones más pequeñas, que era preciosa. Todos los empleados son muy amables y están dispuestos a charlar, lo que añade a la experiencia. No me puedo quejar de nada. Al final de la noche incluso cantado el feliz cumpleaños a mi madre y le dimos una tarjeta que era un bonito toque. Visitamos M & J recientemente para una comida de cumpleaños. Había 16 en nuestro grupo y todos estamos de acuerdo en que la calidad y el sabor de la comida era excelente.

Restaurante chino local en el pueblo de alta lane. El personal es muy amable y la comida era excelente, aunque un poco más caro de lo normal. Algunas variantes del estándar "agradable Ofertas China". Cambió de manos no hace demasiado tiempo y, aunque no es tomado un mientras se está tornando bastante popular. Recomiendo una visita.

Been here a few times. Owners are nice, helpful and accommodating. If you dont want msg or gluten just tell them. The food is good and as for some of the comments re the China Garden that was very up and down over the years. M & J are a vast improvement, give em a go.

Después de dos excelentes para llevar desde aquí decidimos tomar la zambullida y reservar una mesa. Los propietarios son muy amables, el servicio es excelente, la comida es excepcional calidad. Consejo práctico aparcamiento en la calle. Muy adecuado para los niños nuestros son 7 y 9. La decoración es un poco retro, pero y qué, la comida es lo principal. Muchos extras de galletas saladas para bebidas a muestras de chino tradicional en el desierto. Dim sum hechas a mano.

Fuimos a cenar con la familia para mi cumpleaños de socios. Pedimos cuatro y cuatro platos principales aperitivos con bebidas no alcohólicas. El total era 70 libras un poco caro. Refrescos muy caro, teniendo en cuenta su no de una botella de vidrio o puede. El camarero era maravillosa la camarera era un poco demasiado hablador. Cena familiar agradable.

Esta noche fuimos con mis dos hermanos y Hermana en la ley como uno de mis hermanos vive en Florida y volver mañana. Nunca había estado antes y sabíamos que el restaurante había cambiado de manos el año pasado. La comida era excelente, fresca, bien preparado, caliente y muy sabroso. Uno de los mejores chinos que he tenido. El servicio era bueno, algunos pueden decir que era un poco lento, sin embargo este estaba bien con nosotros, ya que estaban haciendo un montón de hablar. La decoración era muy relajante y buena música. El personal era atento y conversamos. Sin duda lo recomendaría a cualquiera y volvería de nuevo.

Hemos comido aquí varias veces bajo el anterior propietario y familia y siempre tenía comida excelente, tanto en casa y comida para llevar.

I went here after reading other good reviews. Unfortunately our experience was only average. The lady who served us was lovely and very friendly as was the older gentleman. But one waiter was, well, just strange. Hopefully our experience was a one-off

Nos habían dado que los nuevos propietarios tomaron el relevo, así que nos quedamos muy gratamente sorprendidos de la moderna decoración encantadora. Limpia y fresca, pero mantiene sus elementos chinos. El personal era encantador; el camarero es un precioso champán carácter y nos dio un excelente servicio. Julie era a mano todo el tiempo, revisar todo estaba bien y si necesitábamos bebidas, etc. Pero la comida ... era muy, muy bueno. El dim sum preparada a mano en la cocina, no comprado. Los platos principales fueron muy bien presentado con adornos tallados de verduras. El arroz estaba perfecto. Precios? Sopa, dim sum, dos platos principales [incluyendo langostinos, que estaban un poco más caro], arroz y tallarines. £33 por 2 bebidas excluidas las vacaciones. Muy buena relación calidad-precio para este nivel de cocina. Michael, el dueño vino y conversamos. Toda la noche fue una experiencia encantadora

Food was all very fresh and tasty, service was quick and friendly and the new decor has been beautifully done. Highly recommended.
