The Golden Larches in Stirling

Delicious freshly made food and very friendly service . The shark toilet was very amusing and all constructed by the host. Dog friendly, George scored a bonio, ( or 2!!) the hosts are very welcoming and kind and could not do enough to ensure our comfort and needs met. Highly recommend. Easy access and parking.

I cannot ever remember a more friendly and hospitable café/restaurant in my long life of nearly eight decades. Andrea went out of her way to welcome us and make us comfortable and cared for. We had booked as a party of 4 (a good idea as the cafe was already busy at 12:30 on a Wednesday) but in fact 5 of us plus dog turned up from Argyll, Aberdeenshire and Cumbria! No problem, we were soon ensconced in a cosy corner. The food was simple but quick, hot and filling. The toilets were clean, unmissable and only mildly terrifying. The more mundane one was amply roomy for one of the party with a disability. We’d love to go back. It’s a lovely part of Scotland too - well worth exploring.

We called in here to break our journey and were very glad we did. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and the log stove added to the atmosphere. The food and coffee were excellent and very reasonably priced, and there was the added bonus of the amazing shark- themed toilet! A great place all round.

Having driven many miles on the A84 looking for a suitable stop, we chose The Golden Larches, mainly because of its convenient parking and bright/clean look. We weren't disappointed; warm, welcoming, nice staff, nice food and spotlessly clean. Recommend.

From the moment we walked through the door until we left, my friends and I were made to feel so welcome. The hot drinks and food were exactly what we needed to break up our journey and the surroundings were fantastic. The owners are wonderful hosts and the whole experience felt very personal. Can't recommend this little gem enough.

Stopped for a quick bite; husband and I had soup which was delicious. I am gluten free and the bread was also delicious. The best I've tasted. My husband then had apple crumble with custard and said; just the way he likes it, really crumbly. Will definitely be back and will be spreading word

Great place. We stopped for a coffee on the way to Callander drawn in by the ‘world famous shark toilet’ sign. Nice friendly staff, great coffee and cakes. The shark toilet was brilliant and doesn’t disappoint. Kids loved it.

Stopped into this beautiful establishment with my partner, for coffee and cake. Beautiful surroundings, very clean and tidy. Attentive, courteous and contentious owners which greet you with a smile. Nothing is too much bother for the staff and you instantly feel welcome. I observed the owner brining water for some thirsty dogs owned by another couple without being prompted. It's little details like that which makes a place like the Golden Larches feel homely. Its in a wonderful location and is a welcome break while on the road. There was landscaping improvements going on, which will no doubt make the Larches even better. The cappuccino was perfect and we both enjoyed the reasonably priced cakes. I look forward to returning the next time I am passing through, well worth a visit. Keep up the good work gracious hosts!!

I had visited here and stayed in their B&B in March of 2023. While driving in Scotland, I suddenly realized where I was and we pulled in to visit and have a bite. My friend had a scone and after many scones throughout Scotland, she said the scone at the Golden Larches was the best one she had had. I had the Carrot and Leek Soup and it was indeed delicious. You have to check out the clever bathroom while there !!!! Andrea and Tim make the experience worth it.

Lunch meet up with my cousin and family. Food really nice, great presentation at a reasonable price. Service so friendly and welcoming made it all part of a super day out. Happy atmosphere.

We popped in for breakfast after leaving a nearby holiday lodge. The cafe had only just opened for the day and we were given a friendly welcome by the owners and shown to a seat in the cosy conservatory next to a roaring log burner. The menu offered lots of choice and when our food came after a very short wait it was freshly cooked, beautifully presented and, above all delicious. The full Scottish breakfast is highly recommended by my husband. The hosts were attentive and very friendly. A great little place as a stopover if passing or staying nearby. Lovely surroundings, delicious food and great value for money.

First visit back here after a few years and will be happy to return again soon. New owners took over 18mths ago and continuing to make improvements. We had toasties, soup and chips and really enjoyed them after a long cycle. Friendly and welcoming staff, restaurant and toilets clean and warm. Great location just off route 7 cycle path.

What a lovely lunch we had here. There were three of us (my partner, my baby son and I) and we needed to stop en route back south from a wedding in Glencoe. My son was due his milk and when we saw the sign for the shark toilet we had to check it out. On entry, we were given such a warm welcome by a chap who offered us the conservatory or the other side of the cafe advising it would be a bit warmer for our baby there. We really appreciated this thoughtfulness. After sitting down our order was taken promptly and we got the warm water howl we requested in record time to warm up our baby's milk. When our food arrived we could see it was topnotch and devoured it pretty quickly! The soup was delicious and the sandwich and toastie were exactly what we needed. The lovely staff checked in with us so kindly and made us all feel so welcome. The changing room/bathroom was absolutely ideal as it had a seat to put baby in whilst I got all his changing bits and bobs organised and out his bag. I even told the staff how wonderful this was as it is often such a juggle holding my baby and getting everything sorted! The shark toilet also didn't disappoint and was such a unique setup. Our son loved it. All in all, a great experience and we hope to be back again soon. Highly recommend for the warmth, kindness, lovely staff and of course, delicious food. Visited twice while we were in Scotland for a week. Very friendly staff and very good with any doggy visitors. We really enjoyed the food, especially the full Scottish breakfast. They were very considerate as regards dealing with the allergies that one of the party has. Called again today after a walk in the rain to have coffees - I shared a scone with my wife and it was lovely. When we are back up this way, we will certainly visit again. Would recommend and the Shark themed toilet brings a smile to one's face.

First of all a massive thank you to Tim and Andrea for being open yesterday in what was probably the worst day of the year weather wise. Also for their hospitality during the two plus hours I was there waiting for the conditions to get better. I was trying to take my grandson to Tyndrum but had to turn back just north of Lochearnhead. The road was bad with snow and a lot of standing traffic. Looking for a place to get something to eat and drink I came across their cafe heading south slightly. It was the only one open in the area. Our time there gave my grandson and I time to sample the menu on offer. Great choice on the menu of cooked food and nice cakes and coffee on offer as well. My grandson was also quite taken with the shark theme in one of the bathrooms! If you are ever passing through Balquhidder Station I can’t recommend this cafe highly enough. A friendly couple running a friendly cafe. Thanks again guys. I will be back during the summer months!

This is a warm and comfortable cafe and excellent respite from a long journey up the A84. Easy parking for cars and motorhomes and dogs are welcomed with a biscuit too! Andrea and Tim made us very welcome for a delicious breakfast generously accommodating my gluten sensitivity and special preferences expressed by friends in our party. Enjoyed it so much we’re going again tomorrow - the lunch looked lovely 😋😋😋😋

We had the pleasure of visiting the Golden Larches on Sunday, the 28th. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owners, Tim and Andrea. The hospitality and service was brilliant. We enjoyed our lunch – I had the delicious homemade soup, followed by freshly made ham salad sandwiches. My husband couldn't stop raving about the homemade smoked fishcakes and plans to order them again on our next visit. We're already looking forward to returning in the summer when we pass through Balquider. The Golden Larches is a gem that we'll surely visit again.

We arrived at the Golden Larches in the torrential rain that brought much of Scotland to a standstill on the weekend of the 7th October and were greeted by Tim (one of the owners) in the car park with two umbrellas for us! The cafe had a lovely stove fire burning which we sat by to dry out a little. Tim & Andrea have worked hard to make a cosy cafe/restaurant and they are friendly and welcoming. Food was so tasty, we had a Full and a Small Scottish breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend stopping by if you are passing. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. It has been under new management for 12 months so disregard any negative comments you might find prior to this! Good luck for the future Tim & Andrea.
