Spent £38 on a selection of grub, king prawn chow mein, special fried rice,bean sprouts, chips, 2 cartons of curry and salt & chilly ribs Poor Quality ingredients with no taste across the lot ..... chips white and undercooked, but worst of all the ribs, if they were ribs at all, cooked in batter they are rank!

Lovely choice of Chinese food. Really ample servings. The shop was impeccably clean and tidy and the staff were lovely.

we were staying out of town, easy to order over the phone for collection and decent quality would go again and reasonable - cash only

First visit to this Chinese it was really nice very fresh and hot and proper chips definitively going back, would highly recommend to anyone , we also got free prawn crackers

We had an excellent takeaway from the Gold Swan. Good sized portions at a reasonable price and ready when they said it would be. Would recommend.

Unable to get a table in our hotel we happened upon this place,the staff were so friendly & helpful & the food superb!

Not bad prices, good selection of veg used but very disappointing, bland tastes to all three dishes. It was hard to tell the chop suey and the chow mein apart and even the sweet and sour dish was really only different in taste due to the chunks of pineapple.

Stayed at the nearby premier inn so used these with it being the closest, food was very disappointing especially the ribs were by far the worse I have ever tasted, they weren’t busy so we didn’t understand why the food wasn’t better

Don’t normally write reviews but this was so bad I felt strongly about warning people to avoid this place for a Chinese. We had 4 things and each one was disgusting.

On a very wet and windy night (thanks Storm Dennis!), I needed some food on my first night staying in Ulverston, and this was the nearest place to my hotel. A substantial portion of Sweet & Sour Chicken, lots of battered chicken, big pieces too, fresh chunky veg and pineapple, and a tasty sauce that wasn't thick and gluey like it often can be from a takeaway. The Salt & Chilli Chips were the best I've ever had, and I'll definitely be returning here when I'm next in the area.

We have lived in the local area for a long time and have never been here so thought we would try it!! Never again 3 meals along with side orderes it was awful. The portions were tiny,one of the dishes we ordered was sweet and sour Cantonese we got 3 prices of chicken. We ordered crispy beef with garlic and chilli and that was just like a small sticky clump of am not sure what..... The curry was like water, £37.00 later feeling disapointed and ripped off. Think we will stick to what we know.

Would definitely recommend. Great selection of real ales and knowledgeable staff. TV and jukebox would normally put me off, but this place was so good I didn't mind them.

Me and my family love it here. I don’t no what the other rating with 1 star is on about. Garlic and chilli isn’t even on the menu and the chips are brilliant. Service is always polite. We usually ring up before and it’s always ready on time. They don’t accept card but there are plenty of cash points in the ulverston about 5 minutes walk away.

I’ve been going here for a while now and all my dishes have been excellent, i’ve had both English and Chinese dishes and it’s been a pleasure buying food, especially from the lovely staff who work here, not a bad word to say about the place, great service and lovely manners, definitely recommend :)

This is a lovely Chinese take away in ulverston very clean delicious food services very quick and the Swan pub right next door makes it very appealing after a night socialising pop next door and pick up your Chinese

The food is great value for money and the service is great. A warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Very much recommend.

He viajado a lo largo y ancho y probado muchas comida y tengo que decir que este es en mi opinión el mejor llevar he tenido primero intenté que en vacaciones quería más. Yo vivo en Newcastle pero llegar felizmente para mi felicidad semanal. Así como la comida era excelente, el personal es fantástico! ! ! Siempre me recibió con una sonrisa e incluso los chicos de descarado en el pop y decir hola. Excelentes precios y muy limpio. Un verdaderamente excepcional china! !

Mi favorito para llevar en la zona, no hay muchos para llevar chino en el ulverston/distrito/zona de barrow que sirven comidas lago chino también como pescado y patatas fritas. He estado visitando aquí durante muchos años. Después de leer el comentario anterior sobre patatas fritas congeladas de verdad creo que esto es una crítica a alguien malicioso. ¿Por qué un sitio que vende pescado y patatas fritas patatas fritas congeladas posiblemente vender?! Mi pareja siempre tiene el Singapore chow mein desde aquí y pide que sea extra caliente, la señora que sirve detrás del mostrador es siempre muy amable y atento a nuestra orden, la salsa curry es tan sabroso de probar con esto. Para mí no he encontrado una mejor cocina cantonesa arroz frito de la zona, siempre me dan con la sal y la pimienta, patatas fritas (estas están hechas con patatas fritas propiamente chippy) Estas son una prueba, son muy sabrosos. Sentía que necesitaba para escribir esta reseña después de ver la anterior como lo creí era cierto después de que he estado visitando aquí por un número de años.

We ordered a takeaway for us and the children earlier this month. The food was delicious and succulent (especially the chicken chow mein,) as well as fairly priced for the huge portions you receive. The atmosphere appeared professional, hard working yet incredibly friendly. I would definitely recommend this takeaway to friends and other families.

Evita este lugar a toda costa. Mi pareja y niños dieron comida para llevar desde aquí durante su estancia en el paraíso. Nos dieron especial arroz frito, patatas fritas y el chili y ajo especial con arroz frito. Las patatas fritas eran congeladas y theyd barato ha cocinado en aceite repugnante muy antiguo. Eran incomibles. El arroz era el mismo, tenía un sabor extraño, extraño que era muy desagradable y el arroz frito estaba todos juntos como arroz glutinoso clumped tailandesa. La salsa era aguado y de nuevo, horrible. Me paré a los niños comiendo su comida que lo hablaras intoxicación de la horrible de arroz. Esta es mi primera experiencia conjunta, peor para llevar.

Supongo que es una de esas tiendas que vas a después de que has estado en el pub. Aunque la comida es siempre fresca, sin embargo nunca he sido recibidos con una sonrisa o una cordial bienvenida. Es lo que es - Comida para llevar, aunque un poco caro.

Pedimos desde aquí basándonos en las buenas reseñas. Nos decepcionó profundamente. El servicio fue muy bueno, pero por desgracia la comida era insípida y viscosa. Pedimos un pollo chow mein pollo foo yung, arroz frito, patatas fritas y galletas saladas de gambas. El pan de gambas sabían como seres supermercado. El arroz y las patatas fritas estaban bien, pero nuestro platos principales no eran buenas. Lo siento pero no volveremos.

I always telephone in my order, it is always ready on time and I have never had a meal that I haven't really enjoyed, their curry's are first class. The Staff are very efficient and Friendly

This has been our "local" takeaway for many years. We don't live in the town and must cross a moor to get there but it is worth the effort. They are friendly and helpful. They know their regulars and there is always a welcome smile and asking about the family.The place is spotless, I don't know how they do it with all the customers they get.The food is excellent. Generous amounts and never had a duff meal. Even though only a few of their customers eat the cheese and onion fry-its (kids love them) they keep stocking so they don't let us down. So different form "not enough people were buying them" attitude you often meet.I would highly recommend a visit.

This is our favorite takeaway, and we always use it. The shop is spotlessly clean, inside and out. The lady and her staff are very friendly and polite. The food is always tasty and well cooked, ingredients are always fresh. I`ve lost count of the number of times i`ve eaten stale, day before food from takeaways. Prawn crackers that are cooked days before and then sealed in plastic bags, so when you finally eat them, they are like polystyrene, chips fast fried again from the night before. Ingredients badly stored so they taste stale. This never happens at the Gold Swan. It is`nt the best meal I`ve eaten in a restaurant, because the Gold Swan is`nt a restaurant, but they are the best meals I`ve had from a takeaway. The prices are fair too, and there is a nice variation in the menu, and they will change the dishes if you request it. As I said before, very accommodating.

Very nice Chinese takeaway on the outskirts of ulverston town centre just off the a590. Food was very tasty and great value for money. I phoned up my order and my food was ready for me to be collected which was a good thing. I would highly recommend the satay dish. The salt and pepper chips were lovely too. Quite a change from a regular Chinese as they also sell fish and chips so they use "home-made chips" which just made it that extra bit tastier. Would highly recommend.

I've eaten nearly every meal on the menu in the last 13 years of going here I have never had a bad meal it's really nice loads of food tastes fresh it's clean and very friendly staff excellent

My, husband, mum, two daughters and myself got a take away from here on our way back home from seeing the illuminations in Blackpool. It seemed handy and there were a quite a few customers waiting.We were really hungry by the time we got home and were looking forward to our Chinese 'feast'.Most of the meal went in the bin after only a few mouthfuls. The rice was greasy, the sauces tasted powdery and very 'samey' despite being different types. There was a strange after taste to all the food which we all noticed.My daughters who are both under 10 years old and are by no means connoisseurs said the food was 'horrible'. I would never order food from here again.

i live close to this takeaway we have never had poor food or felt terrible the next day. this place is spotless the food is good the staff are friendly the service is quick. try the salt and chilli part of the menu most more'ish.

I have been a customer of the Gold Swan for many years and haven't a bad word to say about them. The place is always nice and clean and has a 5 star food safety rating. Their curry and fried rice dishes are excellent, by far the best in town. Service is always good and the staff are always friendly and will go out of their way to help. Very reasonably priced compared to other Ulverston take aways and much nicer in my opinion! All in all top notch!

I have just returned from visiting a friend in ulverston. i noticed the gold swan chinese from the A590 soon as i arrived in the town. I was very happy with the quality and quanitiy of the food. the prices are very reasonable compared to where i live. i had a mixed meat satay and special fried rice, this was lovely. the lady behind the counter was very friendly. the takeaway did not accept cards. the lady said it was fine for me to go to the cash machine. my food was ready for me on my return. i would reccommend this takeaway to my friends/family and will be returning when i visit the lovely town of ulverston again in the future.

I do feel awful leaving this review as the service is so lovely. But after my boyfriend had a curry and myself having a portion of chips we were left feeling ill for the rest of the night. I certainly won't be returning again for food, terribly disappointed.

The worst Chinese takeaway in the UK, in this day and age it’s unforgivable to serve up food that belongs in the bin, all we ask for these days is good quality and value for money; none of which you’ll get at this takeaway. In our case we got several dishes of ‘Salt’. The amount of salt used was unbelievable and total unnecessary. I just don’t understand why anybody would eat food that is not only really bad for you but is inedible.

Very friendly and the food is amazing! This place is always busy and. Volume speaks words, the best thing is there is a pub next door so you can have a drink while you wait just make sure you let lisa know and she will have your food ready on your return.
