I really liked their apple pie, had a pot of tea with it. Islandmagee is well worth exploring, from the stone dolmen to the beach at Brown's Bay, to Portmuck Harbour or the views north of the glens. Having a café is vital for tourists who need a pit-stop. Locals love it, too, the play park outside is very popular. Lots inside, a museum, shop, the café, toilets, and a big hall for events.

Brilliant breakfast a really authentic Ulster fry with proper potato and soda bread ,staff all excellent ,replaced my daughter in laws full fry as it had gone cold as she had to take an urgent telephone call. Spacious ,airy ,plenty of room for the young grandchildren to play and also educational ,wonderful morning. Could not have made a better breakfast myself . Lovely play park outside and some beautiful art work in the gift shop.

I’ve been back, taking pots of tea with different desserts. They do all sorts of food, but our group dines here while taking a break from painting. We’re artists, not decorators. We like the café. You place your order, then sit and relax, and they bring it to your table. The interior has been repainted recently. Very big dining area. Choice of chairs or couches. Service very good. 5 out of 5 hygiene rating. Big, free car park right outside. Big walled outside dining area. Children’s play park. Good toilets. Its great to have a café at the Gobbins Visitor Centre. Very appropriate, too, on account that 12 decades ago the railway engineer Berkeley Deane Wise liked building paths and trails and building a tearoom for the visiting tourists to enjoy their day even more with a tea break.

This time I had some of their carrot cake and a pot of tea. Carrot cake? I joke with people that it counts as one of the government’s recommended 7 portions a day of vegetables or fruit. I liked it, it was great. If you want more, they have all sorts of paninis, toasties and sandwiches to choose from. Their menu says there’s gluten free choices available. Great, spacious dining area. Lots of light from a huge bank of windows all along one side. Service was very good. They score a perfect 5 out of 5 for their scores-on-the-doors hygiene rating. Big, free car park right outside. Tables for outside dining. Good toilets. There’s loads to see here, a corridor of original paintings, a shop full of artisan-made gifts, outdoor kids’ play park, a museum about the Gobbins Cliff Path, and the plaque commemorating the people condemned in the 1711 witchcraft trials on the roadside verge outside.

Nice iced lattes and little treats from the Gobbins Cafe during the summer heatwave this weekend. Iced Cold was what we all needed and the lemon drizzle cake was very sweet and creamy. The only issue I have is that I believe if you ordered the same in a cafe in Larne or Whitehead nearby you would probably save £1-2, but i guess the fact that it is a tourism site for the Gobbins Cliff Path probably justifies the higer price.

This was a big disappointment I do not wish to repeat. The meal was ok, average for a cafe but the staff were rude and incompetent, particularly the very cheeky boy behind the till who took our order wrongly and then argued with me when I tried to correct it before he rang it through the till. There were three staff and the manager gathered before he finally accepted that I knew what I wanted. It was a ridiculous fiasco in a busy cafe.

I had a meeting here with the volunteers from The Sewing Surgery who were being given an award by the mayor. They had made great amounts of personal protective equipment in the early days of the 2020 pandemic. The restaurant is a very clean place. A big, sunny bank of windows make it seem bright and airy. The dining area is very spacious. There are books on shelves. You can buy fruit, chocolate bars, the soup of the day, porridge, stew, sandwiches, a salad, sausage rolls, coffee and more. I had a pot of tea. It was good. There are toilets, in a corridor where local painters' artwork is hanging. There's a play park for the kids outside. Lots of free parking.

We used the cafe for lunch after completing a walk along The Gobbins. The food is homemade, fresh and wholesome. We enjoyed a soup and sandwich combo. The cafe is clean and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long as the sandwiches are made fresh. There are free jugs of water available. If I was out that neck of the woods, I would call in again.

Staff are always very helpful and friendly, and very attentive to all the customer’s needs. There’s a lovely outside seating and outdoor play park. My husband and I went here for the first time to have breakfast. The cafe was bright, clean and welcoming. However, we ended up with toasties which were expensive (£5.95) for what we got. The filling was sparse and the small amount of lettuce, tomato and red onion on the side needed a dressing to give it some flavour.

I visited here on a bank holiday. On one the the busiest days of the year, you would expect plenty of staff to cope with the crowds. Nope. Two young girls serving (who were fantastic and were doing their best) and apparently one in the kitchen. Shocking management. I live relatively local and brought family from abroad. I was embarrassed about the poor management of such an iconic attraction. If this is publicly funded, questions need to be asked.

I visited this cafe one year ago and had to wait 15 minutes before 2 cappuccinos were brought to our table without saucers. When I asked for 2 saucers the waitress seemed surprised that I had asked for them. I wasn’t impressed that something so basic had not been provided. I give the cafe the benefit of the doubt and visited it again this weekend Again the cappuccinos were given without a saucer!! Our table was cleared from the previous customers but the waitress failed to wipe the coffee stain and crumbs! The cafe wasn’t even busy. Coffee was nice but not sure if I will pay it another visit.

Mum and I had a lovely time. Would recommend the cafe as they do a super breakfast and lovely cakes too.

A great selection of traybakes a a good cup of tea. The staff are great as well. It's a limited seating café so later afternoon was easier to get a seat than peak lunchtime. I wish I had taken a pic of my cookie pie with candy cane on top. So sweet, I couldn't finish it. Rare for me..

Carriages Bistro, Larne 4th August 2024 There are a number of conflicting reviews about this place. When we ate there, the previously-mentioned problems were very much in evidence. The service was lackadaisical, with waitresses too busy exchanging local gossip to pay attention to guests. At the end of our meal, I had to stand up and find a waitress in order to pay my bill. (We’d finished our meal 10 minutes earlier). The food: I had Scampi and “creamed potato”. Creamed potatoes were mentioned before in this review site. Mine were barely warm, and lumpy. I have known how to make creamed potatoes since I was 10 years old. It’s hard to believe that anyone on the island of Ireland does not know how to prepare this simple potato dish. I asked for carrots and peas as my vegetables. The carrots were at room temperature. The peas were tinned processed peas – almost unheard of in this day and age. They reminded me of school lunches in the ‘60s. I must say, however, that my scampi was delicious. I’ve seen some good and bad reviews of this place – an equal balance between hit and miss. Our night was a miss. Maybe a manager or a team leader was missing, or (and) maybe a head chef was missing. Poor service; poor food standard.

We recently visited Taste Coffee and Restaurant in Larne, and it was such a fantastic experience that we completely forgot to take pictures! Thankfully, I found some on their Facebook page, but they hardly do justice to how great this place is. The food was incredible, with so many delicious options to choose from. Everything we tried was bursting with flavor, and the chips and shakes were an absolute must-try! The service was super fast, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. A special shoutout to Joanne, who was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. If you’re in Larne and looking for the best cafe in town, Taste is a must-visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and can’t wait to come back!
