The Glassmaker - JD Wetherspoon in North Somerset

I have reviewed this JDW on many occasions ... It is a busy pub in Nailsea and has a good range of drinks and the menu you expect from the chain ... Love them !

Stopped here for some food with the grandkids on the way home from Bristol ( didn't eat in Bristol because, being a Saturday night , was far too busy) Nicely busy with a friendly atmosphere. The food was enjoyable and I thought the portions were a bit more generous than some of the Witherspoon's I have visited. Staff were friendly and the food arrived promptly - would go again.

Only 1 member of staff serving when we attended the establishment. Had a very long wait to get served due to this.

The J D Wetherspoon's 'Glassmaker' pub, on the edge of Crown Glass Shopping Centre, in Nailsea, is a large watering hole offering good value meals and drinks. It was warm and cosy today even though it was a chilly autumn morning. The member of staff that served us was pleasant and friendly. Edited 04.04.24 to add - the pub continues to offer a good value service.

So after eating at the Glass maker in Nailsea town well over 10 times I think I have a fair experience of the establishment to write a review on it. Overall good experiences here, food comes out very fast even in busy periods which is impressive as they usually only have about 5 staff on duty in a medium to large restaurant/Bar. The setting is good with windows all around the restaurant viewing Nailsea centre, the open fire in the centre of the dining room is a nice feature which they usually have burning throughout winter which gives the place a really cosy, warming feel although can be a tad hot when sat on a table right next to it, I am a sucker for open fires and wood based features so this is something I love about here. I can never complain about the food quality and portion sizes for the cost here, value which is hard to match these days. I often come here on a Saturday to have a cooked breakfast or lunch. The large Breakfast is very good value and good quality with free coffee refills for a tenner or maybe less... When most places charge almost four pounds per coffee and then twelve for the food that can be far worse quality that this it is hard to go wrong here. The pizzas are really good, try them you will be pleasantly supprised as for the curries and the new ramen chicken noodle bowl is incredible for around £7 it is huge and very authentic and is my new fave option on the glass maker menu. The one dig I will have (as I am a natural critic and have to find something) Is that the staff could be friendlier, most the time they are but I have had instances where a few of them can be grumpy but I can understand to a degree as weatherspoons massively under staff them here and they are always very busy. One other issue is that there should be downstairs toilet. The toilet is situated above two steep staircases and after a large meal it can be daunting and I have often seen the elderly struggling up the stairs which are thin and single file resulting in walking half way up, someone coming down so then having to walk half way back down which can be potentially dangerous also as the door at the bottom also has staff whizzing through with plates ect and have almost had near collisions with them. This is quite an issue although apart from this, food quality, service time and value for money are all 5 star and I will continue to eat here and would recommend it.

I know it sounds weird but my fish n chips didn't taste of fish, burgers, beer, prices are great

One of our local spoons it's popular, staff are friendly and attentive, service is reasonably quick. Only down side is the number of parents who bring small kids in and pet them run riot screaming and shouting, running around. Really spoils a meal out. Not the staffs fault have often heard them ask parents to keep kids under control, only to be abused in return.

Had some of the best nights of my life here!!!!

Feels clean and spacious. Food came quickly and good value for money

My burger was pretty disgusting there was a massive tomato which hadn't been cut properly and the coffee machine was boarded up #freethecoffeemachine

Always a good choice of food promptly delivered. And the as much as you want drinks machine is a big draw.

First time in this wetherspoons Very nice one indeed Food was good and Otter ale was perfect .

Food was typical for a witherspoons but the staff were very friendly and helpful always seems busy

Popped in for a snack and a quick pint. Service was quick and the new Xmas menu was really tasty. 3 Cheese Chips with Mozzarella Cheddar and Brie with blue cheese sauce was REALLY good!!

Went here for breakfast. Service was good and the pub had a nice relaxed pleasant feel to it

It was a bit disappointing. The place was cold. The chicken wrap I ordered had hardly any filling, it was pathetic. I wouldn't of had the front to send it out from the kitchen. Not the best of visits. On a plus side, the staff girl behind the bar was pleasant and friendly enough.

Great value, nice staff and not rough like some other WSpoons.

A great place to chill and enjoy the food and drink. Had the veggie chill and beef lasagne. Very tasty and filling.

Generally good food and beer. A good place to see friends. Very relaxed. Using the Wetherspoons app has the benefits that you can continue chatting and your food and drink are delivered to your table.

The steaks for two of us were tough and inedible and were sent back. The replacements were not much better. The premises are very echoy and the restaurant is like a big gold fish bowl.

I ordered a steak asked for medium, and when it came out to me, I cut into my steak, it was raw, after I complained they took plate away and then they brought it back another steak and it was tough as old boots, I will never go back in there ever, one of the staff had an attitude problem.

Just need another coffee machine to help with the number of customers

I’ve always had a good experience here! The food is always exactly what I’ve wanted - definitely one of the better Wetherspoons and worth a visit if you’re after good quality, good priced classic pub food!

This has to be the dirtiest Wetherspoons I have been into ! The tiles on the wall the muck under the tables the stairway to the toilet ! Cmon Mr Spoons get a deep clean done in your establishment

Love the Wetherspoons app, saves SO much hassle for patrons n staff . Got exactly the food we were expecting , served by smiling and professional staff . Hint : if the plates we’re warmer to start with the food won’t go cold by the time you’ve got round to eating everything you ordered. Bar that , I’d thoroughly recommend this eatery and will def be back . I had to find the waitress to tip her , perhaps that could be added to your app ?

This pub had no atmosphere at all.neven for a weather spoons..the only good thing was the staff. They were lovely helpful and polite.

I visited while my car was having some work done at a garage locally. Very busy on a Saturday morning around 11.20 we ordered the traditional breakfast and everlasting tea and coffee the breakfasts arrived very quickly and looked very appetising and were freshly cooked and eggs were spot on well done staff.

Had breakfast here, great food, great prices, kids loved it as well, very friendly staff. Have eaten here before and never been disappointed.

Quick place to have tradicional breakfeast. Not the best quality but will do for a fast service if you are in a hurry.

A person cannot view the menu online, the website just goes round in circles. Not very helpful. The food looks unappetising and it is obvious they use the cheapest food going hence the prices.

I like this Wetherspoons, it's nice on the outside, it's nice on the inside, but I thought it was very over the top telling my son that he couldn't eat his crisps in there, just because they didn't sell them, it wasn't like we didn't all have drinks. I'm surprised she didn't complain about me giving my baby, baby snacks too!

Pretty standard Witherspoon's experience but the staff team there seemed great with a good atmosphere it is one of the more interesting and busy Witherspoon worth visiting.

A dependable well run Wetherspoon's outlet with exemplary service and engaging staff.

Very pleasant meal, interesting decor, tables not too cramped together, staff very pleasant, excellent garden area with covered smoking section, ales a bit limited but found one I liked. Overall one of the better JDW venues in Somerset/Avon unless we just got lucky that day!

Not the usual 'Spoons - mostly noted for the resurrection of older almost rundown establishments, this place looked like it was custom made - enquiries to young, colourful and amorphous staff, elicited scant verification. However, the place is on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, as most 'Spoons are, so deserving a visit. The Abbot was passable.

One of the worst wetherspoons I have been to recently. As always the food, and drink is affordable. However, the kitchen staff really need training. The burger we ordered was so burnt that we could have taken it home to use as a hockey puck. The chips were clearly cooked in the same oil as the fish. Luckily, none of us were allergic to fish! The all day brunch... More like the all day crunch! Bacon was burnt. Beans were cold. The sausage was probably microwaved. The venue is really nice, and it's a real shame how disgusting everything was. Tables, menus, and the floor are sticky. Staff clearly need a new cleaning rota or a better sense of direction of doing their job. You couldn't order from the Wetherspoons app, so that probably doesn't help anyone either. It's a great looking venue, and it's a real shame how poorly managed it is.

I had a nice breakfast here, not much different to any other JDW really.

lots of ingredients missing so alot of the breakfast option where limited and being 15 minutes past 11 we could not select anything off the lunch menu

Food served quickly. However the oil they cook with made my chicken burger taste odd. The chips n onion rings were grand.

Breakfast is not very good Most of the food cold can't even finish as it all stone cold before im even hafe way through will not be returning

Terrible food and customer service avoid

Some good meal deals available during weekdays, price includes a drink. The Wetherspoon app was helpful too.

There was a girl called Chloe she had short black hair and was very professional and kind, I really think other staff members such as Libby (she had really long dirty blonde hair and had a baby face/ looked about 19/20 although she was saying about how she goes to uni in Manchester) should learn from the nice waitress, Libby was drinking vodka behind the bar straight from the bottle and refused to share, she was beautiful it’s a shame her personality didn’t match her looks!!

It is what it is. I like it and have been a few times now.

We popped in to go for a lunchtime anniversary meal. We saw that husbands beer on offer he bought IPA 99p .Good 46 yrs present ! We went 1 3 .30 ish to avoid lunch- time rush .(we popped in for bottomless hot chocs earlier in morning ; lovely waitress told us best time for our celebration ,bit quieter.) Had excellent service chose a steak with sauce meal and a large mixed grill. I chose an apple and raspberry J20 and a lemonade for the 2 free soft drinkd. so I could mix it as I wanted. We divided up the meats equally ,shared my extra onion rings,half the fried egg and started our special meal ,which arrived in barely 10 minutes with a lovely friendly lady waitress, There was still a good atmosphere and we loved all the meal .The larged steak with jack daniels sauce was perfect medium rare .Too full to eat another morsel ,we took home the 2 sausages ! We waddled to the car replete. I have a mobility issue couldnt climb all those stairs; but was able to use the downstairs disabled toilet which made life much more easy for us .On the whole we find the Glassmakera really great local food and drink venue and would recommend it heartily.

Visited today as a party of 3 adults, 2 children. Pros Accessible facilties Plenty of tables Reasonably priced dishes Friendly service and plenty of staff around Highchairs available Colouring crayons available for kids Cons Almost everything I touched was horribly sticky including the highchair, our table, salt and pepper shakers, menus. Cutlery had food left on it. Really needs a deep clean of everything. We will come back but will be bringing sanitising wipes again. I did see other people requesting spray to wipe down their tables, so not just us noticing lack of cleanliness.

Drinks were prepared quickly and to a high standard and the 'order to table' service using the mobile app also worked well, with drinks being served quickly.
