We stayed in Whittlesey for a couple of days. On Thursday, 7th November I had a lovely breakfast of egg benedict, while my husband had the full breakfast- couldn't fault it. We returned the following day and I ordered porridge. It soon became apparent that it hadn't been stirred as there was several lumps of raw oats. My husband's scrambled egg (on toast) looked disgusting. That hadn't been stirred either as you could see the yellow and white separately. It was rubbery and inedible. It was 8am and not many people in the place, so the chef was not uner pressure. Unfortunately, we were in a hurry to get on the road and so, didn't have time to complain and wait for it to be cooked again. It was very disappointing considering that the breakfast was lovely the day before. Can I assume that it was a different chef on the next day?

Great place 👌 to eat and drink great atmosphere and amazing staff. No gf option on food as far as could see. Unlimited coffee tho so that's a bonus. Will definitely cone again keep up great work guys

Price's are excellent 👌..... Highly recommended..... Pub lunch with a great atmosphere..... Service very efficient..... Plenty of restaurant tables & mobility room for all.... A wonderful experience.....

We have started using this Weatherspoons a lot for breakfast, how can you complain for 2 breakfasts for £13. Can't fault it for quality and price. We are going to start eating there for lunch as well. Staff are friendly and it's always clean with nice decor. Highly recommended.

dinner was delicious with plenty of meat and vegetables,gravy and puddings were delicious too,excellent value for money,delivery man was very polite too.

Service was fast and attentive as always. Due to my disability, I was stubbornly struggling to carry my hot drink to my table. Charlie saw this and offered to help and save me from endangering myself more.

Brill food really cheap great coffee with free refills

Been here many times and the breakfast has always been freshly made and good value. But this time it was bad. It arrived very quickly after ordering, which was surprising and unusual. The beans were cold like they'd just been poured out of the tin. The sausages and bacon were luke warm and the eggs were hard. The plate was cold. It was like they'd got a all the left overs from the day before and shoved them on our plates. Disgusting, would not recommend.

I had American cheese burger 🍔 and chips 🍟 the first time I went there and was delicious 😋 and then the second time I had a shandy I sat outside I would highly recommend it

Decided to visit for my favourite breakfast today and was hugely disappointed. My daughter's pancakes came without the syrup so my large breakfast got cold while sorting that out. The toast and bacon was clearly burnt and I ordered scrambled egg for my son, instead served lumped egg. Bar staff were miserable and rude (what do you want is not how you greet customers). Maybe if the kitchen staff were in the kitchen cooking instead of eating breakfast themselves, things wouldn't have been so overwhelming for whoever was left in there.

My husband sat outside The George Hotel with my little dog in a pushchair whilst I went in to order drinks. A stroppy woman who turned out to be the team leader called Milda came out and said to my husband ‘you can’t stay here with a dog’. We were outside which was empty a long way from the entrance and my tiny dog was zipped up in her pushchair so what the problem was I don’t know. My husband called into the pub to tell me not to order anything as we had to leave. How embarrassing! Horrible experience.

Did not eat here as menu a bit overpriced for standard pub menu. Other diners food did look good though. Good beer and beautifully restored and decorated inside and out.

Breakfast hot please...aka mission impossible... Not for the first a barely tepid temperature for a breakfast, even after asking for it to be hot... It's not like the request would be unusual surely most people would prefer a breakfast that isn't cold .. it does seem consistently not quite hot enough, other than that clean tidy and organised...but it's not a salad ...make it hot...the pancakes and plate come out piping hot...

Typical Witherspoon pub but the staff were friendly and acknowledged me even though they were serving other customers at the time. The meal was served in under 10 minutes by a very friendly member of staff and they checked back with me to make sure everything was ok. The staff were a credit to the company

Clean and friendly place with plenty of room, the breakfast menu is good and portions generous.

Not dog friendly wouldn't let me sit outside with my very small dog

Classic Weatherspoons, good priced drinks, food alright and plenty of seating. App ordering is quick and plenty of choice for gluten free/veggie etc.

As far as spoons go, this one is really good! The food is always served in good time and is always good quality, the staff are always very welcoming and the place is always clean. Safe to say I haven’t had a bad experience here.

Excellent value for money tasty food and drink with quick friendly service .

I’ve started to occasionally pop in here, en route to or from work. For a coffee (free-refills!), or a bite to eat. Sometimes on my own, sometimes with my wife. Food is good honest fare, well prepared, and reasonable priced. Whenever I’ve been in, service has been very. good. And food a drinks pretty prompt. The building, an old hotel, is nice. There’s outside seating out front. And a small garden off one side. I also really like the area just in front of the bar. There’s a glass roof, which makes it light and airy, yet still somehow cosy.

I would give a revue, but me and my dog weren’t allowed to sit outside and get food. He was a chihuahua literally sat on a bench next to me.

The staff are lovely! Happy to serve and professional. Food and drinks served very quickly. Only downside of the place is that there is not much space inside to sit down for a meal. So if you’re a big family, it could be difficult to find space for everyone.

I live nowhere near this place but I took a friend to collect her car after a repair and after a three hour drive there, and the prospect of a three hour drive home, we decided to have a bite of lunch here. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The other customers were very helpful and the staff were very polite and did a superb job in making us feel welcomed. The food was served very quickly and it was really tasty. I had the chicken schwarama which was described as spicey. It was! My friend had chicken with gravy and mash which she said was excellent. All in all, it was a delightful stop in a quiet, relaxed restaurant which fitted our needs perfectly.

On our way into Peterborough we thought we'd take a detour to Whittlesey and pop into The George Hotel for a spot of breakfast. We got there early, just after 8am and the place was empty, devoid of life. We ordered a couple of traditional breakfasts and some pancakes and bacon. The fried eggs were dangerous. Fried to such a state that they were virtually impossible to cut. The yolk was harder than concrete. It was so tough, it was almost dangerous. Contrast that against the bacon and sausage that were colder than a penguin's flippers and the traditional breakfast was hardly what you'd call 'traditional'. The cold bacon went head to head against flaming hot pancakes in the battle of the century on my daughter's breakfast. There was no winner. And my daughter's verdict? 'It's not very nice is is it, dad'. Well, quite.

Wetherspoons is always a great experience 😊 lovely food, great service, good atmosphere.

My partner and I had a lovely time with family today for lunch, food looked lovely and was really tasty, cheap drinks… can’t go wrong there! staff was lovely and friendly, quick service, atmosphere was nice too. Highly recommend.

Food: bland tasteless the waitress that was serving us was rude this was our first visit to the George and is most certainly my last the hole experience has been off putting to say the least

Very busy pub atmosphere. Find a table, remember table number, order at bar, pay for each part ordered. Staff deliver food to table. Drinks - hot and refillables - see below. Alcohol served also at same till. Met a good friend for lunch. Quite a wait in cue at bar to order food and drinks. Went during busy lunchtime. Never been before. Empty cups given when hot or cold drinks ordered and paid for at bar. Guess what, need to get own cutlery and sauces from a place still unknown to me as staff server retrieved for us. After waiting an absolute age to place order to start with, have to join separate cue, totally different place for drinks and self serve through complex machinery. Maybe this could be improved by having staff member assistance at that point as two long cues quite frustrating especially if only want a drink, or revisiting for additional dessert. My experience we cued 6 times, twice for two hot drinks, 3 times for hot food, Starter/ Mains / Desserts. Easily at busy times takes up at 15- 20mins each time, is 90 mins to 2 hrs just to cue. Milk also ran out at hot drink section. Being self serve it looked a mess, bits of rubbish from packets and spillages. If attending as solo diner, high probability that the table once found as vacant, before starting to cue at bar (to place selected food / drink order), could also be seen by new guests arriving and taken again by the time first customer returns to that spot !! No way of marking the table as still vacant, or pending due to need to visit bar cues, or even go bathroom. Could this be improved? Maybe tags or large spoons on each table, so if cueing, locator cant be used again if elsewhere in process. Bar drinks and food combined ordering via 1 till (on the day I visited), so bar staff extremely busy trying to cope. Cue at times I felt encroched spacially, on individuals occupying tables nearest bar area. All that being said, organisationonally, system lets you down, customer experience with ordering could be streemlined. Staff there coped very well, were amazing, in their attitudes and service. Food was totally delicious, lots of varied menu choices. Food hot, servers x 1 and manager fast. Admired their plate handling skills. Well done for managing very busy customer period. Will definately visit again. Take a friend, as they aid by holding table until return from short holiday break cueing.

Family meal outting, very satisfying experience.

Tables need to be cleared not left full of lots of dirty plates and lots of dirty glass It spoils the place and makes it so you have to think wether to go there again

Wouldn’t even give 1 star if I could. 2 mini burger meats in stead of 1 proper one ??? Tasteless food, non existent service. Visited this branch many times before, however this time was the last. No one came to check if the food was ok. No wonder why… big up your game spoons 👎🏻

Always use this pub in the week always excellent food .. but tonight at the weekend food was disgusting.. not same as advertised on menu food had to go back too hard to cut and no flavour what so ever .. must of been a different chef 🤢

For a quick lunch or a cooked breakfast, the price is reasonable. We go there on a regular basis when riding our bikes. It is a good restaurant for breakfast, but skip the coffee. This may not be the place to go if you are looking for a decent cup of coffee. Like many Weatherspoon chains this branch also need updating and a good clean. At least both the hot drink machines are working at this one. The last two Weatherspoon's branches we visited one of the machine wasn't working.

Its a weatherspoons so you know what you expect..some are better than others.

Good food, great price, really efficient service in the middle of the town. What's not to like? I would definitely recommend.

Cheap and cheerful. Good vegan range and good atmosphere. Clean toilets .

Was having a really good time until the servers stopped serving us drinks, not just alcoholic drinks, but soft drinks too! We were only allowed to order water. We weren’t being disruptive or disrespectful we were just having nice conversations and one of the servers with brown hair and blonde tips came to us and told us we weren’t allowed to order any more alcoholic drinks. My friend really wanted some Pepsi and she wasn’t even allowed that, how absurd is that! There are a couple other groups that are much louder than us and I can here them from the other side of the pub. Absolutely fuming, would not recommend. 👎🏼 However, the other server Grace was top tier, so nice great service from her.👍🏼

You know what to expect in a Wetherspoon but this one exceeded. The food tasted great, the service was super quick and the waitresses were friendly and polite. When we visited it was busy and there were only a couple of vacant tables so we were super impressed with how quickly we were served. We are moving to the area in the New Year so this will become a regular place for us.

It's cheap on food and coffees pretty decent ( I don't drink alcohol) But carpets! Sticky carpets. Why have carpets where people spill drinks. The place needs a revamp

Good food you get what you pay for

Met a friend for breakfast here. Unlimited tea & coffee is great, you just help yourself from the machines once you've paid for your mug. We each had the big breakfast - pretty standard fare for a Wetherspoon, that is to say a good size and pretty decent, excellent value for money. Staff all lovely, good for a brief chat and friendly with smiles. Can park behind the pub, it was free on Saturday AM but not sure how long for - there is a sign that tells you so be sure to check.

Delicious breakfast and unlimited coffee on a cold rainy morning. Staff were very polite and brought our cups to us after we ordered online within a minute so we could get our coffees in time for the breakfasts. Could not fault.
