Visiting the cafe on weds 16th November, we had attended the Poppins play group, and I had my little one in tow. Just before the group ended I popped over to the cafe and spoke to a lovely young lady who kindly reserved the table i requested for lunch. My son has sensory issues so I specifically requested a table next to the window and the lego table. As we arrived, I found that the reserved sign had been removed and other customers were sitting at the table. I spoke to another female member of staff and she informs that she removed the reserved sign and seated other people at the table. When I asked why she had done this and what could she do to rectify the situation, she shrugged and informed me it was not her problem. As there were no other tables free, we had to leave. One very upset little boy, with no lunch and couldn't understand why we had to leave. I have worked in hospitality over 12 years and wouldn't dream of speaking to a customer in such a manner. Shocking service from this individual. Would never return again.

Visit this place pretty much every year when I visited friends. Its clean and well kept, a little pricey, £1.50 for a can of pop?!? Its has kids toys which is fab BUT they are disgustingly dirty a d could do with replacing. It's. Nice place, Inclusive working environment which is fab!!! The usual lazy parents and unruly kids which spoils it a bit.

It's hard to find fault with this cafe - its tucked away, private and some may say cramped, but at the same time its awfully charming and welcoming. From a service perspective it's amazing - plenty of smiles all round and cheerful words. Its quick, clean and efficient and everyone gets involved and helps each other, which is great to see. The food is excellent, but the stand out for me is the coffee. Personally I find it to be better then some big well known chains and it is often presented beautifully. Obviously tastes vary but I can't see it ever being a disappointment. Overall it's an outstanding little cafe and well worth a visit if you're passing, or - as I do - make a detour to stop by.

Calling into the Gateway Coffee Shop for lunch today was special. The staff were so cheerful and obliging. The order was a simple one but it was served wth care and good presentation. The whole coffee shop was alive with customers enjoying a snack or cuppa. Although the staff were really busy, they still took time to talk with the customers. The location is ideal, just on the edge of town and close to the old railway track now a nature trail. The Gateway is a good place to have a break while hiking or to finish off your stroll/hike. It is always special to see families enjoying their time at the coffee shop. Do recommend you make a visit and discover this oasis of refreshment yourselves. GlobalNomad37

Some very friendly staff, others need to learn to plaster a smile and get rid of the scowl on their face. Place is OK, quite cramped. Service is quick and food seemed fresh, OK prices, kids meal was expensive. I wouldn't rush back.

Ideally situated between Ninesprings country park and the town centre. The Gateway Coffee shop serves excellent coffee and light lunches and you are guaranteed a warm welcome from the lovely staff. Also there is seating area outside for those sunnier days. If you’ve not been there before I would thoroughly recommend it .... Go on give it a try, what have you got to lose?

Good coffee, inexpensive, friendly atmosphere. A lovely place to chill on the sofas or at a table - simple lunches and snacks made to order. Go with friends go with the kids or go alone - space outdoors too and close to great children's play area and country park. What's not to like

Not for the first time, there was a very limited selection of foods. Some of the sections were bare. Unfortunately the jacket potatoes were not available and the sandwiches were not covered and curling bread did not look appetising. Very little healthy option in the hot food section. We left to go elsewhere as did another couple.

My wife and I stayed for 2 night, expecting evening meals and breakfast as we were visiting Wells and Bath and Yeovil . I think it was a lovely pub at one time but not now. It did no food closed most nights , we visited other pubs for our meals very disappointing stay and would not recommend anyone to stay I think it will possibly close down very shortly.

Had been looking forward to visiting here for a while but was left disappointed. Unfortunately they dont seem to be well adverse with alligies. After informing them of an alligie within our party it's seemed that panic struck and we were told they couldn't guarantee that the food was suitable as the kitchen had various things made in it. We left hungry and disappointed

A great place to stop for coffee, lunch, or tea which rightly seems very popular with the locals. We enjoyed lots of tea and cake after a walk up Herne Hill (recommended) and my OH particularly enjoyed a Manhattan cake which was all chocolate mousse and orange. Great, friendly service as well.
