From the start the hostess was unwelcoming. My 14 year old daughter asked why she was angry which was shameful. Sat me where I did not want to sit and I changed eventually as we were literally sat next to someone very ill. Throughout dinner had to keep waving for service and was only served when I asked where the food was as we were clearly forgotten. I was told my card was declined twice with no apology! I asked where the apology was when it clearly went through and the server said he apologised. Please note the apology was to tell me that he's sorry that my card is denied. Upon leaving I told the hostess that she was very unwelcoming to which she said in an attitude to go complain to the manager and I said ok get him. Manager came and told me l've been charged twice!! Upon looking at my bank st I saw I had been charged twice (I would have left if he hadn't been called!). When I was then leaving the hostess muttered something under her breath to which I asked what she said and joking aside she was ready to fight me! Saw her screaming and her colleague restraining her inside from the back door. This is clearly atrocious behaviour.Absolutely horrifying and traumatic experience. My daughter had already run outside in panic and fear. I am utterly disgusted and disappointed to say the least. Horrifying experience. Surely someone must take action! I believe hostesses name was Anji, but at this point who knows what the truth is. Ruined a beautiful evening and night. Not returning here obviously.

On several occasions I have been greeted with arrogance and attitude. I have been coming regularly for 2 years. It’s my fault for returning really but it’s close to where I groom my dog every month. This is the 3rd time they respond with incredulous demeanour as though I should shut up and wait. I walked in without reservation. They said there was a table outside available. Then they asked me to wait for someone to seat me. So I went to the bathroom. When I returned they said they were still waiting for someone to seat me. There was a queue and several guests who arrived after me were immediately seated. Finally I was seated without apologies or graciousness. The last time I was there there were chips scattered in the on the floor outside for the duration of my meal. The food is decent but the maître de and the staff aren’t well managed. He is just simply rude. He needs to remember that the guests are paying his salary. I don’t recommend eating at this Ivy.

I booked a table in the afternoon to celebrate my daughter's graduation as I wanted it to be a special meal for a special day. We got seated promptly to a very nice table outside, in the good weather. We shared a starter of the scallops, which were amazing (and the only reason I'm not giving this 1 star) She ordered a burger (no extras) and I ordered a ribeye steak. The order came and we noticed that the burger had bacon in it, (which she doesn't like) and is also a paid extra. We gesticulated to the waitress that we didn't want the bacon and asked if it could be substituted with cheese, to which the waitress said yes and she'd sort it. So we waited. And waited. And waited. We weren't sure what was happening - were they going to bring us a new burger? (Spoiler alert - the answer is 'no'). About 10-15 minutes passed as she went past us serving other customers and finally a man came with a piece of cheese on a small plate! Really? Does it take THAT long to source a piece of cheese. Anyway, we swapped the bacon for the cheese and even though it was luke warm by this time, she commenced eating it (by this time, she had eaten most of the chips as she was hungry) Meanwhile, I found my rib-eye to be very fatty and full of white connective tissue. I usually have steak at restaurants so know a good one from a bad one. I gave it a chance but it was so tough, I left half and the rest was (excuse the grossness) masticated masses which I had surreptitiously placed on the plate. I summoned the waitress - she apologised and offered me a new one, but by that time I had had enough and just wanted to leave. What should have been a special meal was completely ruined. In summation, ok some steaks aren't good and it's not the restaurant's fault, but 15 minutes to get a piece of cheese? Putting a paid extra which was not ordered? And it being bacon? Good job we're not Jewish, or Hindu as I imagine it would have been quite shocking and insulting. I have since written to them via their feedback form, TWICE, but heard nothing. I have been to The Ivy in Bath and it was a sublime experience, but I will never step foot in the St John's Wood one again.

Starters was excellent, main meal as mine was the black cod, perfect in every way..with a side of Jasmine rice.. Partners sirloin steak was overcooked,as she asked for medium.. It was well done..The truffle chips were good.. 12 year old daughter had the hamburger upgraded to cheese burger with chips she nearly managed it all as she's only petit.. Pudding were apple tart, raspberry and pistachio sorbet and little one had ice cream.. Drinks were value for money.. All in all a fair price of £211..for 3 of us..

One member of staff at the door/reception was less than warm, but everyone else was lovely. Food was good. It arrived quickly, which is great in some ways but also made me feel rushed to leave. There were some not so gentle nudges as well - “would you like a coffee or the bill?” My booking was supposedly for 1h45m but I was being rushed out before the hour mark. It felt like an assembly line, which is what restaurants ultimately are but at least make some semblance of hiding this? Other diners were not being rushed as much and I did wonder if this was a bit of a selective (discriminatory) policy. Go for the food, but don’t expect to lounge for a 3 course meal, unless you look the part (white, rich).

A Delightful Experience at The Ivy St John's Wood , London Our recent visit to The Ivy St John's Wood was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, combining a chic, modern aesthetic with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. What truly made our visit memorable was the outstanding service, particularly from the manager, a wonderful lady whose name we unfortunately didn't catch. She went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and well-attended to throughout our meal. Her welcoming demeanor and attentiveness made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. She skillfully balanced a friendly approach with the utmost professionalism, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. The menu at The Ivy St John's Wood offers a delightful array of dishes, and each one we tried was exquisitely prepared. The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was impeccable. Whether you’re a fan of classic British cuisine or something more adventurous, there’s something on the menu to satisfy every palate. In addition to the fantastic food, the ambiance of the restaurant was enhanced by the impeccable service from the entire team. The manager, in particular, made sure that our experience was flawless, checking in at just the right moments and making us feel truly special. If you're looking for a restaurant in London that combines elegant dining with exceptional service, look no further than The Ivy St John's Wood. We will definitely be returning soon, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in the heart of London.

Everything was beautifully presented and each dish had the wow factor. The Smoked Salmon starter was brought out in a domed smoker. The Linguine was served directly from a very hot pan and the Chocolate Bombe melts in front of your eyes as they pour on the Salted Caramel Sauce. The service was excellent. Staff were very attentive without being obtrusive and everyone was friendly, smiley and polite. The only slight glitch was a long wait for some milk for my tea but other than that it was absolutely perfect. The prices are also reasonable, especially for Central London and given the Ivy brand and unique dining experience. Would definitely recommend booking in advance though, as we were very fortunate to get the last table at midday on a Saturday. Others after us were turned away

Told wait was 15mins-3hrs. Booked there and then for 5mins time online in front of hostess who then huffed. (Plenty of availability online) We left and came back for our reso 5min later. The same hostess seated us at a broken table held up with tape (there were 3 other tables of two clean and available) we then didn’t get served which felt rather deliberate. So left. Worst Ivy we have been too. Staff were the issues.

Atrocious experience.... Horrendous service, poor quality undercooked black cod, fridge cold asparagus, non existent waiter. Waited 55 minutes from being seated to me eventually having to go to the reception desk to ask for a waiter to take my order. My bottle of wine was left in the ice bucket with not one attentive member of staff pouring! Had to pour it myself!! Why have a service charge on the bill?? If this restaurant simply cannot handle the volume of diners, then don't fill your poorly run eatery to capacity. Your team simply cannot manage a decent service including your kitchen staff!!

[2024 Edit: Went again after a long break to see if ay improvements. Sadly the approach and attitude of the staff here (particularly the matre d when it comes to bookings and reservations) remains curiously disinterested and unhelpful. Seem to trade on the brand name rather than the quality of the service being provided. Absolutely no reason or intention to return.] Good Ivy menu but the service at this particular branch is bizarrely so so slow, consistently. Even when they are not at all busy. Just popped in on Saturday lunchtime, very quiet and just left waiting for a menu for far too long. Gave up and left. Another customer was also on the verge of leaving who had been waiting longer than us. Manager really should address this level of disinterest among staff.

Party of six, went to celebrate a civic wedding. Nice location, staff very friendly, food average. Was given three different bills at the end but no problem with that. Had ordered champagne for our arrival, fine. What amazed me was when, at the end, the waiter arrived with a single "celebration plate" which consisted a saucer size plate containing 2 strawberries, 4/5 berries and a spoonful of an ice cream type confection. Even if it was only for the bride and groom, it was very slim pickings! Subsequent edit: From the owners response they're obviously not reading the reviews

I dined at The Ivy St. John's Wood last night and had a mixed experience. The food was excellent, and the ambiance was inviting with its classic look and pleasant environment. We started with delicious starters, but there was a notable delay in serving our main course. A server even asked if we wanted dessert, forgetting our main dishes. When I informed the manager, he simply apologized but did not resolve the issue. Additionally, we had to repeatedly request an empty plate to share food. After asking three times, we were given a tiny plate. I asked for a larger one but never received it, so I eventually gave up. While the food was very good, the service was disappointing. This was unexpected as I have visited the place more than three times previously and experienced excellent service. I noticed a new manager, who seemed less familiar than the regular manager I usually see. In conclusion, the food was great, but the service issues significantly impacted my experience. I hope management addresses these lapses to improve the dining experience for future patrons.

WORDS CAN'T DESRIBE THE UTTER NIGHTMARE WE LIVED. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOMENT THIS SCAM OF A PLACE IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. To everyone reading: DON'T GO. We went this morning for breakfast to welcome a friend who just arrived in London to congratulate him for his new job and welcome him in London. Upon booking there was a question whether this is special occasion. I said yes and it is a welcoming meal to friend who just arrived in London to congratulate him for his new job. I expected that there was a reason they ask this and make you make the disclose the special occasion, perhaps welcome drink. Nevertheless this was never acknowledged by any member of staff with any gift or anything. On the contrary upon arrival staff rudely told us that we need to hurry up to order breakfast because they will soon move on to the brunch menu. Moving on to the food, we ordered two Special Menu English breakfasts (one vegeterian one standard) which includes English breakfast, smoothie and pastries, plus one eggs royal and three coffees. The food arrived before the drinks... It was the morning, we needed coffee first but nope, you are supposed to eat breakfast first? We waited and waited and waited and said nothing. Then we asked and they finally brought coffees. They said there was a mistake making the coffees.... Coffees were just average but breakfast was bad. All three egg dishes were smaller than average and nothing like breakfast you have anywhere else in London. English breakfast had no bread, and non-veg had one piece of bacon and no sausage. The veg had one mushroom and the standard had no mushrooms or sausage. The eggs were scrumbled and no fried as we expected in english breakfast. There was no bread with the eggs...We asked about it and they said that the special menu is like this... Moving on to the service, OMG... all 3 of us got really, REALLY annoyed. Staff came every 5 minutes to ask if everything is ok, while we were eating, so we all had to chew the food quickly to speak to them... Couldn't they see we were eating? Food was IN our mouth, nevertheless they would interupt us from eating to ask several times if everything is ok. Same things when we were talking to each other, and int he middle.of our comversation about personal matters INTERRUPT the conversation to ask if they can take our dishes and cups, even though there was clearly food and drinks which we hadn't finish. More than 5 times we were interrupted. We came there to discuss his personal issues and at the end he said you know what we can't speaknin here we will speak st home...We were so embarrashed bringing him here. He couldn't even speak or eat properly. Then after this awful time, the nightmare happens when our friend goes to the bathroom. Our friend, who had just arrived at London and we wanted to show him a bit of a nice hospitality and food. And what does he tell us? He was throwing up in the bathroom because upon coming to the bathroom he accidentally went to another room just next to the men's room which was open and seemed like a bathroom. It was opposite women's so he thought it was the men's. What he saw there was a sink/basin (place where you wash your hands) full of faeces.......Open to the Public.... So it seems like someone (staff?) did their needs into a basin and then left an open door for everyone to see. In what looked to be a staff's toilet. It was so disgusting went to the men's and threw up. I had to go to Womens to cry because I felt SO embarrashed I brought him there. This was his first experience in this new city where he just came to build his new life and will stay with him for ever. A sink with feaces open to the public. Coming from member of staff who probably served us that day. I left the womens only to find my friend and my husband waiting in the corridor because the staff asked them to leave the table to prepare it for others....... You can't get any of this even in the worse and cheapest restaurant. I am trying to write them a complaint and GUESS WHAT, their "contact us form" on their website doesn't work.

Lunch today . Starters scallops, crispy duck salad , salt & pepper squid . Children ordered breaded chicken with chips . Mains sirloin with spinach and Shepards pie with lettuce . Scallops were a little on the tepid side .otherwise tasted fine . Duck & squid were on point great texture and flavour . One of the breaded chickens hadn’t even reached the pink stage it was red inside . We pointed it out to the waiter, the Manager aggressively jumped In and informed us, it’s the vein that’s making it red .’. We weren’t going to let our 5 year old eat this literally bloody chicken . By this stage he had gone right off the idea and simply wanted chips . The manger’s tone towards us was simply shocking , even the lovely Italian waiter seemed a little embarrassed. Ironically the establishment was only 40% percent filled which for a Saturday was rather unusual . We asked for the steak medium rare it was medium and absolute rubber the Shepards pie was fine . We ordered pudding for the children and called for the bill . At No stage did any of the staff enquire if we enjoyed the food or why only 30% of the steak was consumed . This is our local, sadly we won’t be returning.

Waiters (and waitresses) were really nice and attentive and we (a group of two) even got a recommendation! Food was pretty good (Dessert was the best). ONLY complaint: Like all drawings/paintings, it was creepy that there were lots of drawings or paintings (I don’t really know) with the illusion of their eyes following you around the bathroom. Not the best place to put them really. Overall, pretty solid. Will return.

Sadly the quality of food has dropped dramatically. Sadly the service is not good either - staring from the front door where we were greeted rudely & finishing with forgetting our starters and getting confused with the mains.

I love the ambience here when I find time to visit! It is by far my favorite Ivy in London because of the lovely staff, especially Hannah, the bartender, and the lady at the front, Kate, who always greets me with a smile. I stopped by today for the bank holiday and sipped on a lovely drink made by Hannah. Always a delight xx

Best mocktails we’ve ever had!! Hannah the bartender was absolutely stunning at creating some fun mocktails just ordered based on flavor profile. The first server said she would just surprise us and she did! Hannah made the girls a delicious rhubarb mocktail with tonic and my husband a savory Tajin rimmed Everleaf marine cocktail on ice. So delicious and fun! A mixed experience as we had an amazing server at first, making everything on the menu sound delicious and giving such great recommendations. They switched servers twice during the meal so we were never really sure who was taking care of us but we didn’t let it detract from the experience. Hint: I won the delicious food contest in my family with the monkfish curry - yummmm! My husband ordered the scallop meal but we’re pretty sure the starter came instead but two servers later who even knows what got lost in translation! The desserts were positively theatrical!! Chocolate bombs with hot caramel poured over top, flambéed apple tart. By far the best part of the meal.

Return visit with family for breakfast . The Ivy restaurant chain experience can vary but this one is at the top end. We all had an excellent freshly cooked (and reasonably priced breakfast for the area) and it has a lovely interior . Staff very welcoming and nice outside seating. Keep up the standard!

The food is always good at the ivy - including the children's menu. The ivy is always my go to if I want a nice treat meal out with friends/family. The st Johns wood one is good but I was a little let down by inexperienced waiters (day 1), we were sat opposite their dumping room which was covered with a dirty old drape. It was quite noisy. Asked to be moved tables but I was refused (explained that the sight of bins was making me queasy as I am 7 months pregnant). Anyway not the best experience with this restaurant I won't be returning.

I visited The Ivy Restaurant in St Johns Wood on the Saturday 9th of March at 2pm with my friend. It was meant to be a 40th Birthday surprise with afternoon tea. I had gone into the restaurant a few weeks before in person to book. I asked on the day for an afternoon tea. I wasn't informed at the time of booking that this restaurant doesn't do afternoon teas, but only cream teas. I informed the person booking me in that this was for a 40th birthday and could they do a cake with a candle. I was informed they could. On arrival  I found out this wasn't the case; I spoke to the person at the door taking bookings at the front door she said that this restaurant doesn't do afternoon teas and I informed her of the above and this should be informed to people at booking as I would not have booked it and would have booked elsewhere. I told her this needs to be noted.  No effort was made to resolve the error. No communication with any other managers were made. When I asked further about what we could have she told me to go speak with the servants. She had a very poor attitude and tried to brush me off. I felt extremely disappointed and embarrassed as this was for my friend’s 40th birthday. We in the end had the champagne cream teas. I should have left at this point as things did not improve after this. I ordered the apple tart after the cream tea. I was left waiting up to 30 min having asked 3 times where was my order was and was finally told there was an error in the kitchen with my order. I did notice that our waiter did inform the floor manager who I thought would have spoken with us. There seemed to be no visible management, customer communication or care for their customers. The waiters seemed inexperienced and appeared like they were in training. The waiters despite being so busy were lovely and did their best for us.  In addition, my friend did not get the cake with the candle as was also promised at booking. The restaurant was busy and there were plenty of staff on the floor but we felt abandoned. I asked to cancel this and asked to pay for the bill. For what was meant to be a special occasion turned into a great disappointment. I have been to many restaurants in the Ivy chain and this was the worst service I have ever experienced. I will definitely not be returning to The Ivy at St John's Wood and will not be recommending it.

Right, customer service was terrible. We went for a family members birthday but you are not even allowed to cut the cake. There was a set menu and we requested to change out a starter for a side which were cheaper anyway and the waiter refused. It really felt like a computer says no situation! One of the waiters spilt coke over the family member whose birthday it was and they didn’t even offer to replace the drink! When the food arrived the portion sizes were tiny. For such an expensive meal you really would expect more. However he quality of the food is very nice. It tasted amazing. I’m the end they brought out a free profiterole with a candle which was also delicious. It was probably to prevent us from writing this review. And it definitely did make us put this as 3 stars instead of 2. Overall the food tasted amazing but the portion sizes are ridiculous and not being able to cut a cake is just beyond archaic as so many restaurants are able to allow you to cut a cake. Adding to that the customer service was really bad. All I would say is go for the taste of the food but it’s not the most welcoming experience if that is what you are looking for.

Terrible service. The girls at the front of the house are consistently rude and unaccommodating. I live in the area and always avoid this location bc of the front team here. I’ve never had a problem at any other Ivy. The front really needs an upgrade to mature and experienced professionals.

Excellent service from the moment we walked through the door at this restaurant. Sarah and Kate were absolutely lovely and any restaurant would be proud and pleased to have such kind, accommodating and receptive staff. The place is also very inviting, the decor and comfort has been well thought through and despite so many intricate bits, the place was very clean. The smoothies were disappointing. Frozen blocks of flavour defrosted for serving. Watery and not particularly tasty. Sadly, the cappuccino was not a proper cappuccino. Disappointing as I was looking forward to a good cup of coffee to start off my brunch experience. Only one millimetre of froth, coffee not tasty. Not drinkable. They graciously accepted it back and didn’t charge for it. Food was nicely presented and tasty - see photos. Nothing to write home about. The avocado on my waffles was not tasty. My local high street sells tastier avocados! The best and tastiest part of the meal was the afternoon tea. The scones were warm and fresh and very tasty. The cream, jam and strawberries were definitely a pleasure to see and taste. The tea pot was not fresh tea - a tea bag with the paper part thrown in too! No extra little jug of hot water and had to request the milk and a teeny tiny amount was brought to the table. Toilets are beautifully designed in line with the rest of the place and I would suggest they need to be cleaned a little more regularly, to put it gently. People seem to like this place a lot. It was busy and buzzy, a tad noisy and with that comes atmosphere. Definitely seems to be the trend to breakfast, brunch and lunch here. Maybe we’ll go back some day…

Happy with the service , food was average ! BUT When it came to drinks we asked for red wine not to our knowledge that the waitress suggested the single glass of wine for us which cost us the same as our set menu lunch per person! And was a big disappointment as we were not informed that she chose our glasses of wine from one of the most expensive bottles in the house!!! We were not happy at all and very disappointed all around

My experience at The Garden in Corinthia was a delightful yet somewhat perplexing evening. The ambiance was serene, and the culinary offerings truly exceptional. My dining companion and I indulged in the Za'atar Spiced & Baked Cauliflower and the Atlantic Octopus with Potato Salad, both of which were not only artfully presented but exceeded all expectations in flavor and finesse. Our waiter, Juan Carlo, deserves particular commendation. His attentiveness and gracious manner elevated the evening, attending to every detail with a quiet elegance that enhanced the overall experience. However, there was a regrettable incident that marred the otherwise impeccable evening. The garden's supposed policy on smoking was handled with a lack of tact and decorum by the manager, Joe. While we complied with the request to purchase cigars from the establishment, it became apparent that inconsistency in enforcement—observing others smoking their own cigarettes, we then smoked our own cigars after the purchased one— Joe created an unnecessary and awkward confrontation. Joe's handling of the situation, especially his insistence on removing a lighter from the table, felt unnecessarily pedantic and discourteous, ultimately detracting from the refined atmosphere one would expect from such an establishment. That said, the frozen cocktail Sgroppino is an absolute must-try, offering a refreshing and sophisticated conclusion to the evening. While there were unfortunate moments, the overall quality of the food, service (thanks to Juan Carlo), and ambiance make The Garden a destination worth visiting—albeit with an awareness of potential hiccups in customer relations.
