Perfect spot for a late night drink. Unpretentious, great staff, delicious cocktails, and music that’s not too loud!

The Pub is an excellent option in the heart of Manchester. Pub food, good and cheap beer options and the atmosphere is very beautiful and welcoming to spend time with your friends, family, partner or even alone.

Small Pub appears on a basement, no wheelchair facilities, old Pub and no good facilities.

A really great place for a quick pint in town. Good selection of beer, lager drinkers: go with a blume.

Tidy little basement bar with a great selection of beers and great staff. Any place with a proper menu for the drinks gets a thumbs up from me.

Visiting Manchester for the weekend, discovered this bar on the off chance, was hoping for an intimate, hospitable and unique experience compared to the franchises dotted around the city centre. It's nothing special compared to the rest. Staff attitude was terrible, came across that they didn't want to be there. Asked for a Mojito but they couldn't make it as it wasn't on their menu, strange as any cocktail bar should be able to make the classics. Asked for their recommendation instead on beers, couldn't give one nor when I asked what the punters drink, they couldn't remember. Asked for a light golden IPA, was given a citrus fruit pale ale. Left rather promptly.

Cracking bar you walk downstairs to. Some great history about the place if you look at the stuff on the walls. Staff very friendly. Great choice of craft beers

Fabulous whisky, solid beer offering, friendly service. It's one of my favourite hidden gems, pity I'm not over in that part of town super often.

Character basement venue selling a a good range of ales.

Always an interesting choice of ale on sale in here especially those brewed by Pomona Island. The Cask Pale was really fresh and of excellent quality - pretty cheap as well as far as city centre prices go. Terrific bar staff seem to be able to keep on top of everything as this bar fills up really quickly with the after work customers.

Bloody nice pub, this. Had a couple here on a Saturday afternoon. Really good selection of beers, Nice atmosphere. Fills up quickly in the day so if you're looking for an idle afternoon here, get in early.

This was my second visit and won’t be my last. Lovely hidden away bar with a great selection of beers (mostly from local brewery Pomona, lots of vegan options) at a reasonable price (for Manchester anyway). Really nice atmosphere, helpful staff. Dog-friendly.

Brilliant, atmospheric pub. It is located in the former kitchens of a children's mission house. Enjoyed our drink, and we'll be back!

Great little hidden gem off Bridge Street going towards Salford Central. If you are into history, this is one place to visit. This was the old soup kitchen that used to feed the children at Wood St Mission. Good selection of ales, spirits, and non-alcholic drinks Reasonably priced too for the city centre. Less than £5 for a pint.

Extremely attractive basement bar with beautiful tiled walls. It's in what was the kitchens of a former mission hall, feeding the poor in what was a very different Manchester in Victorian times. Very good selection of different ales. The only drawback is they don't accept cash. I don't want to have to use a credit card just to pay for a pint of beer.

Very very nice pub out of the way of the tourists in the centre. Downstairs, GREAT beers (Factotum is my new all time favourite) but the brewsmith oatmeal stout also delicious. V reasonable pints circa £4.50. More seating at the end of the pub past the toilets. Highly recommend!

UPDATE 22nd October 2023 They do a superb Negroni here, terrific value at £8. Their choice of vermouth makes it special. Great music, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great selection of craft beer

Not friendly to disabilities. Asked to use their toilet, bouncer refused and turned me away.

This is a rather unique basement bar and a great beer venue. Descend the steps to rooms covered in white tiles. Albrecht loves this bar. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Four real ales available. On this visit from local Pomona Island ( pint of Olinger pale 4.3%) and Chapter ( pint of Blindfold off 4.2%)breweries. Also a super discount for CAMRA members..so join up and bring your card.

Bar manager miserable. Few people in when we got there then 6 lads walked in 20.55 and the manager said you can't have a drink I'm closing at 9pm. Great example of hospitality working in the industry myself id of served them after all you were mad busy. NOT. Sunday 10th September.

I would say this is a place for winter due to it being underground. Love the old tiles and the atmosphere. Even tho on the edge of Spinningfields there are no posy people which is good. It’s definitely quirky and I would bring people who haven’t been to Manchester before here. Great range of gins I was spooky for choice and it’s a good idea to have a gin of the week as it was difficult to choose.

Lovely little tiled cellar bar in and amongst the busy restaurant area of spinningfields. Lovely and cool in the summer, and warm in winter. Great selection of beers and with an enormous selection of gins and whiskies. Always try to call in here if passing.

Thankfully a cool cellar bar on a hot summer's day. Pomona Island brewery run, so their lovely beers feature as well as those of other local brewers. 12 different beers, 7 from Pomona . Definitely worth coming to!

The place is ok, the novelty was just lost on me. It's underground & used to be a laundromat so it's dank & smells slightly musty. They have an excellent & extensive gin collection! & The service was good.

Small and quirky pub, fair amount of seating spaces, vast menu with some pricey drinks. The customer service is pretty standard. Nothing outstanding. The menu is quite vast and has craft beer options, The interior design could use some sprucing up, there isn't much to look at. I didn't see any food menus or any food being served at all. This includes simple starters like French fries, onion rings, etc.

Hidden Gem! Great underground bar, stocked with an excellent range of Gins. Staff are wonderful, knowledge and love to be personable. Last visit we met barman/manager Tom, who was so wonderful that we will be making this place our regular. Had a great range of beers and such a chilled out vibe.

Just popped in for one for the first ever time but will definitely be going back ! Lovely underground place with a Victorian feel some fantastic draft ales - will be back !

We came across the Gas Lamp a few years ago and always revisit every time were in Manchester. The beer selection rotates regularly so there's always something new to try and there's a huge selection of spirits as well. Make sure to visit here, you won't be disappointed

The Gas Lamp is an incredible bar, whose staff make it feel like a home from home. A fantastic selection of Whisky, and whiskey, and beer too. Very knowledgeable team , who guide your drink selection and evening overall through the desert of a poor night out to an oasis of a good time. 11/10 would recommend.

Great selection of drinks , more of a lads bar in my opinion and smelt a bit stale. Incredible whisky options though and quite unique decor , not a date kinda place but worth taking quests for a different experience, worth having as part of a pub crawl or a few quieter drinks on a week night

The spirits, specifically the gin selection is what drinking at a bar is about. You can try wonders from all over the world. You can have a taste of a bottle you never would buy yourself. Love classic pubs like this that have a great range of craft beer. We sat admiring the deco, history and culture of the pub. Great beers as well, will definitely be back.

I had a very lovely evening of drinks with my friend. Exactly what an evening drinks before dinner should be like. The ambience was lovely, staff were helpful and considerate and the drinks tasty and well-themed. I focused on the boozy gin drinks, had all three, and liked each one. Would come back.

Terrific venue. And see if you can catch the Sunday folk singaround. Rousing choruses; songs about grizzly deaths; funny songs. (7pm, usually the third Sunday of the month)

Lovely place this, such a unique venue. Gives you ww2 blackout vibes. Nice mix of ales too if you're into your ales.

Very quirky establishment some great craft beers on tap from local breweries and beyond. Massive whiskey options also and a nice visual history on the walls of what it used to be before a bar.

Quirky place filled with history. Worth a visit. Usually a couple of real ales on for good measure.

Has a great low key, back in time, sort of feel. Really chilled out, despite having hundreds of different sorts of gin, it still manages to avoid being pretentious. Gets a little stuffy in warm weather though. I visited again and it still is a great place. Not able to find a decent pint of bitter though and the closest was a Mild but this was 7.4%!

A favourite of ours since moving to Manchester. Friendly staff, chilled vibe and great selection of beers in an authentic, vintage environment. It's a hidden gem, down some stairs in a basement and stands out from the usual garish, chain or flashy cocktail bars of Spinningfields.

Tuesday 22nd November 2022 We visited this real ale pub in Salford on this day this cellar real ale pub had 2 real ales on good friendly interior with nice bar staff but when only 2 of the 4 hand pumps in use sadly reason why today I gave it only 4 stars

Top little place.. had some nice stouts!

Easily the most underrated boozer in Manchester city centre. Fantastic array of beers and stronger stuff if you're in the mood. Maybe more important is the consistently great staff and absolutely killer and varied soundtrack. Cosy, wonderful - there's everything to love about this place. I'm having a great seasonal pint right now, and have been listening to ace soul, Kate Bush, rhythm and blues, Solsbury Hill and more. Magic. Love this place.

It's just a wholesome, lovely pub. Great beer and great staff

One of those bars that are hidden in plain sight. Just a few doors up from the masons resteraunt, there's a great big sign above the door way down the steps to this Victorian drinking den. Plenty of cask ales served as well as some favourites. The tiled rooms probably original are timeless which gives it the Victorian feel. Just imagine how many people have frequented this establishment over the years.

Some great beer kept really well. Plenty of choice on both cask and keg from Ponoma and other breweries. It's the other side of town for me but if I'm over that way I will definitely pop in.
