The Gardeners Restaurant in Enfield

We popped in for a cup of tea and a bite to eat and decided to try the Welsh rarebit sandwich on the menu. We ordered two portions of Welsh rarebit, a portion of chips, a scone, and two cups of tea—coming to over £30, so we expected something decent. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The scone was heavy on bicarbonate of soda, giving it an unpleasant aftertaste. As for the Welsh rarebit—it was just grated cheddar, heavily mixed with mustard, toasted on two slices of plain white bread. This was more like an overpriced cheese toastie. For the price, the quality just wasn’t there.

Great Coffee, Great Food and Great Team! The Manager Steven, made sure our order was on point and perfect. The coffee was lovely, the food came quickly and was delicious. Haven't been in for more than an year and from what I gather from previous reviews, you can see there's a lot of improvements with the new team. It was a busy day but we still got served quickly and everything was great. Don't normally leave reviews but felt that this one deserved one indeed. Well done, keep up the great job. Will definitely be back again.

I wish we had read the reviews first, we order a cheese and mushroom omelette chips and salad Chips was fine But the omelette is only what I can describe as scrambled egg trying to make into a omelette I would not ever go back staff was friendly and nice and the place was clean

Not our first time here but probably our last. We ordered a "Breakfast Buttie" only to be told there were no eggs - nothing extra to replace the eggs and charged the same price! Fifteen minutes later a lady was served with scrambled eggs!! We also wanted The Rarebit Hot Sandwich to be told again there was none! There was only one person behind the counter doing everything - taking orders, making coffee etc and only one in the kitchen making cooked food. We are visitors to the area and in previous years have enjoyed coming here but not after this.

Lovely little cafe. Staff are lovely and food is good. Coffee is amazing.

I think they must have been short staffed as it was a long wait for food and no tables were being cleared. Ended up with several tables piled with dirty plates as everyone was trying to clear their own tables in order to sit down.

I really like this place and have been coming here for some time usually for breakfast but honestly the food has gone really downhill since George left Heated up deep fried sausages same with bacon and hash brown cold toast and they cannot make a decent cappuccino which cost over £3 don’t mind paying that if it’s good It makes me sad as I love this place I have tried other dishes here and they just cannot cook simple food Except for the male chef his cooking is ok he has been there for some time . Also the cakes are stale and expensive

Lovely atmosphere.polite service but you mustn't be in a hurry Sit back and enjoy the view of their magnificent selection of plants.give yourself a nice hour off sipping a nice cup if coffee.

The worst omelette I have ever eaten. They must buy them frozen and then reheat them as I cannot think how else they could taste so bad. This used to be a really nice cafe but the food has become inedible so will not go back.

It was a little bit dark. Could do with a bit more lighting. The food was nice. We ordered jacket potato £9. Scampi and chips £12 and a soup.£7.50 Teas and some soft drinks £44. It was a bit expensive I felt but still nice None of the food came together It was clean and tidy. The staff were pleasant and helpful

We had fish and chips. They were delicious, good portions and reasonably priced. The place was clean and the staff friendly.

I love to have tea and cake in the restaurant after the children have finished painting pottery in pots of art.

We came here as a group of 4 for lunch. Although the cafe looked presentable at first glance, our experience quickly went downhill. Food: The food was particularly dreadful & the worst part - expensive yet underwhelming. I ordered a cheese toastie, but instead received a plain basic untoasted butterless cheese sandwich after over 20 minutes of waiting (mind you, this item cost £8.50). We ordered a hunter's chicken, which took 30 minutes to arrive & then arrived cold as though it had come out of a fridge. When we ordered a replacement, it arrived a further 15 minutes later without the sauce. The chicken sandwich was bland & disappointing for the high price. The menu did not indicate any dietary information (vegan/vegetarian/allergens/etc) and lacked good vegetarian/vegan options. The hot chocolate was alright, but the coffee was tepid. The jacket potato was undercooked & hard. Atmosphere: Nice enough to begin with, until we settled in and begun the long wait for our food. People were regularly getting up to complain - customers had issues with the mash, with items missing from their orders & many other customers besides us were visibly upset. It seems that the kitchen must have been understaffed or overwhelmed, as the quality of food just wasn't up to parr & wait times were absurdly long, even though we came after the lunch rush & there were plenty of empty seats. Service: The service was ok - the waitresses were doing their best to bring out orders, man the till & serve their customers. However, the strain they were under was visible - between having to field all the customer complaints & repeatedly bring back incorrect orders to the kitchen, they were stretched thin and unable to clear the tables, refill the water jug & keep things running smoothly. Overall, I wouldn't go here again & would recommend trying out one of the several other cafes nearby. To the management: I'd implore you to look into these issues, as we are very much not the only diners that have had such a dismal experience.

I came here to see my grand parents and have a nice lunch. Well I was terribly wrong to even think that the food was edible here. Everything was cold, slimy and rubbery. The service was at the most decent until I met the manager who did not care about the waiting time nor for the food that was given to us. Last time I will be travelling 40 minutes to get here again.

Big breakfast? More like big disappointment. I received one sausage, one rasher of bacon, one mushroom, one hash brown, one fried egg, one tomato and baked beans. The sausage was warmish, the bacon was tough and felt like it has been under a heat lamp. Mushroom was cold and the beans were luke warm. I would suggest not having food here, the coffee was okay.

Don't go here, there are much better and cheaper places in garden centres nearby. The sandwiches they server are stale and incredibly expensive. The service is slow and rude. They do not have salt or pepper for the tables. Tea/coffee is served barely warm.

Says open until 5 pm on the website and Trip Advisor says 5.30 pm but they are alwsys clearing out the cakes etc around 2.30 pm and blocking off seating inside. Told they close at 4 pm. Which is correct?

Zero out of 5. Consistently dreadful food (have had to order food a few times here out of necessity as the soft play is onsite). MASSIVELY overpriced, poor quality food. £3 for a small bottle of iced tea or orange juice. £8 for a dry panini. Avoid at all costs.

First time trying this place as noted how expensive it is in comparison locally. Ordered tuna melt panini and twice it got stuck in my throat, so dry, all bread, the filling is like a thin spread. Can’t believe they selling this for £7. Couldn’t finish it, too scared of choking. Across the road they fill their sandwiches and it’s cheaper. Thought I was treating myself trying here!

Terrible terrible customer service extremely slow service this place is managed like a joke extremely disappointing and £9 for 2 coffee and a cake? Daylight ripoff

Can’t do an egg mayo sandwich at lunch time, ordered a tuna mayo sandwich instead, no butter, no salad, no coleslaw… £5.20! Also ordered 2 Brie, rocket and cranberry panini, played hunt the brie could barely find it let alone taste it. Poor slow service. Will not be eating there again… ever.

Should have read the reviews beforehand. I ordered a sandwich which they clearly weren’t happy to make for me, no butter on the bread, no side salad and no coleslaw, just a sad dry sandwich on a plate… it was £5.20, even with salad and coleslaw this is a ridiculous price. When I went to the counter and said I didn’t have any salad and coleslaw, I just got an ‘oh’ and it was passed to a lady in the kitchen to sort out. My poor mum and grandma were no better off with the panini’s they ordered, ‘Brie, Rocket and Cranberry’…It was basically a cranberry sauce panini, the Brie was just small pieces of rind scattered between the bread. Once again those Panini’s were £6.40 each!! Absolute rip off, no care for their customers and we were not the only ones dissatisfied. This visit ruined a big part of our day out together and for that reason we will never come here again!! Save your money and energy, go elsewhere!

Awful manager. Served a flat white as a white coffee. When I took it back he said ‘that’s how we do it here’. I explained I’d been in a week ago and it wasn’t made like that. I’m not being fussy. I wouldn’t have minded if he just said ‘sorry we can’t do flat whites today’. It’s just the attitude. Jacket potatoes were £9 and were burnt at the bottom and very basic. Sad we won’t be coming again.

If I could give it 0 stars, I definitely would! Food was awful, service terrible, I'm almost impressed with their ability to make a jacket potato taste so disgusting!

Breakfast was a joke. The picture on display is nothing like the plates which was presented to us as breakfast. Every item was as small as a child's portion. 2 adult breakfast with drinks costs near £20. Will not be eating at restaurant again. What a joke. 😂😂😂
