The Garden in Wiltshire

Was meeting for a work reunion, 10 of us in the end after a couple of cancellations. Had to pre-pay £10 each, which seemed a little steep. Once arrived and sat, drink orders were taken. Oddly, before getting drinks, our food arrived after we had to pre-order our food. This was about 10 minutes after we sat down. We were an early booking and understand prepping, but the food had clearly been pre-cooked. Chips were hot, but not crispy. Sweet potato ones were very dark in colour, edging on burnt. Mine tasted ok, but one of my friends noted some of hers tasted burnt. They were at least homemade. Burger itself was very underwhelming. What seemed like a bought in patty, bog standard bun, with harissa mayo that was not strong in flavour. Accompanied by a bit of little gem lettuce. All tasted ok, but very basic for the price of £15.95. Overall, most of us were underwhelmed and although not bad, would not be returning. I have no issue paying out for food, but expect good quality and mostly homemade if charging that price. It was not busy and most of us had burgers, so should not have been an issue to prep fresh and allow us to actually sit and relax ahead of eating. Overall just disappointing. Felt like overpriced fast food.

Second visit here... Last time my partner had the chicken Kiev and I had serious food envy. So we returned and that was my order. It did not disappoint! A fabulous delicious well presented plate of food. Great service and great atmosphere too. Lovely to watch the chef preparing the plates to perfection on the pass

Went to the Garden today as the Gladstone was closed and it was such a lovely surprise! I had the steak and it really was one of the best I have ever had, I can't wait to come back again. It was perfect! The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because of the chips, they were great but not as good as the steak and the tasty sauce. Will definitely be back!

My wife, dear friend & myself visited for the first time, after looking for a 'pre-show' meal at the Neeld Hall. Looked at multiple places in Chippenham & the menu choices really stood out to me as being something different than the norm & all the others I had looked at when searching online in the Chippenham town area. A full review of website along with menus built a positive image for me. I had phone call in well in advance of booking discussing seating & I took the opportunity of seeing if I could move booking forward 30mins, which was kindly accommodated. We all liked the ambience as soon as we walked in. Everything else was spot on & lived up to the image my mind had developed from booking. When reality equals or exceeds expectation/image built, result = very enjoyable meal & evening! We all had a lovely 2 course meal, which was cooked & served to perfection. Compliments to all concerned at the The Garden. I was impressed from start to finish & rest assured, we will be back!

It's rare to encounter the freshly handmade Coronation Chicken Sandwich, which is fresh and soft. Enjoy a simple and enjoyable lunch on the wooden table in the side alley of the restaurant, enjoying the warm sunshine.

Nice welcome. Friendly staff. We ordered the cauliflower starter followed by Pork Belly. The drinks and food service was quick and efficient with the waitress being very attentive. Food was delicious. The tempura cauliflower in hoisin sauce was fonger lickin' good. I have one very minor criticism. The pork came with a lot of carrots - it would have been better with fewer carrots and compensated by another vegetable. But it was superb - we will be going back to try other dishes.

Absolutely incredible food served and presented with pride and passion . The atmosphere and setting was excellent. The service was genuinely pleasant and truly attentive without being intrusive. We would certainly recommend this.

Visited Chippenham today & wanted to find somewhere for a couple of cocktails, found this little place, very quirky, nice friendly staff, cocktails delicious, would definitely return & recommend.

Hidden away close to the centre of town. A nice dining experience with friendly staff. Inside area air conditioned which was welcome on a hot day though we were told (as 15mins later than booked) that we’d have to be quick as a big group were due to be in. Falafel salad & wrap ordered were tasty & big portions but falafel was not as typical falafel should be. Lamb burger was enjoyable and again decent portion size. Extra chips were served though not ordered so thought was part of meal until charged for. Bit pricey at £5/portion. Overall a good experience with a few watch outs.

Shortages of staff are understandable but how a restaurant handles it is a measure of its quality. The Garden a) blamed a junior member of staff b) acted surprised that we were disappointed about an hour wait for a starter c) didn’t attempt to apologise. A real shame as used to be a stand out in Chippenham

Chose this venue to meet up with a friend halfway between Bristol and Oxford. Service amazing. recommend pint chocolate milkshake, wide menu choice. Butternut squash, delicious. Toilet facilities very clean always good sign of overall cleanliness and food hygiene. Has outside as well as indoor space. Would highly recommend the venue for lunch.

Very happy each time we have visited The Garden most recently for a birthday meal. When booking online in special requests I asked for a birthday balloon and to add cost onto the bill - I wasn't expecting them to be able to do so but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see a helium balloon and some other birthday table decorations! This was much appreciated, and along with delicious starters and mains we had a lovely evening. I recommend the piña colada too - delish!

Had the most amazing lunch yesterday with my husband. There was a bit of a wait but you expect that when the food is freshly cooked to order. I had the hotdog and my husband had a burger, both were very large portions and hot, the portions were so large that we both didn't want any dinner which is unusual for my husband! I would recommend going there. Amazing

We were staying in Chippenham and decided to book The Garden as we liked the look of the menu and were not disappointed. I had the prawns and my wife had the tempura cauliflower for starters followed by the salmon and risotto and the pork belly . All the food was very well cooked and presented and the portion size was massive , certainly not enough room left for dessert. Staff were excellent and it was a lovely evening all round . I would certainly recommend The Garden to anyone visiting Chippenham

We popped in at just gone 2pm on the off chance they had space for two of us - which they did. Not many tables spare but a lovely table by the window for us. We ordered the house white wine - thoroughly recommended and the fish “finger” sandwich. Lovely to be able to select granary bread and not “just” brown bread. Delicious green salad accompanying the sandwich. Friendly staff and a lovely chilled atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will be back again soon.

What a great restaurant. We visited on a Wednesday evening without a booking and the staff were amazing, looking after us from the outset with attentive and excellent service. The menu is comprehensive, without being overly complicated, we all (4) had steaks which we all thought were 5 out of 5 for presentation, taste and value for money. Service as mentioned was excellent and discount was applied for individuals holding a blue light card. All in all a great impromptu visit.

This is our favourite place to eat in Chippenham , proper homecooked food just how it should be done. We have been here on numerous occasions and we are never disappointed. Today we stopped by for lunch and although very busy , they managed to fit us in . Service was prompt and delivered with a smile. We had a Coronation chicken wrap , a Coronation chicken sandwich served with chunky chips . Both came with a pile of mixed lettuce in a lovely dressing . Highly recommend this place for great food and service.

Huge thank-you to Cate and the crew for their brilliant service at The Garden for our recent bottomless brunch visit. Cate was super helpful in organising the event. The prosecco and wine was continuously flowing and the food was amazing. Thoroughly recommend this for a good girlie catch up or any other event.

£3 for just soda water ?! Shocked to see £3 for just soda water.. I mean who charges that much for fizzy tap water ? Burger was ok but everything was bit burnt/overcooked sweet potato chips were burnt yet soggy. Wasn’t very nice for the price.. only bonus was they offer blue light card discount but wouldn’t go again

What a fabulous place. The staff were warm and friendly. The belly pork was without doubt the best belly pork I have ever had and it was excellent value for money.

One night in Chippenham and been to The Garden based on Trip Advisor ratings and reviews. What a fabulous place! The food was amazing, folk that work there were just lovely and the prices very reasonable. Well worth a visit of you’re in town.

We had an absolutely stonking meal here…the food was so so good, service was absolutely spot on, and even the choice of music playing was just my cup ‘o cha! I can highly recommend the steak…it was cooked just perfectly! My wife and I had a great evening and will be back very shortly! 10/10!

Cracking find in Chippenham. Very friendly professional staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Very good menu and wonderful home made cakes. Food was exemplary. Was a bonus that the Garden is very dog friendly which is sometimes hard to find if not visited a pub. I am visiting the area again in January and will definitely be paying another visit to the Garden.

We dined in the Courtyard at this restaurant for my Son's Birthday a couple of weeks ago. The service was pleasant, efficient and the Waitress knew all about the dishes on the menu. 4 Steaks and 1 chicken ceasar salad Burger were ordered.. The food looked amazing and was plated up well. There was plenty of fries, peppercorn sauce and salad etc. Our only negative feedback is that all the Steaks were as tough as old boots! The steak was cut into generous portions, but it was just so difficult to chew, so unfortunately we've had to drop a star, but we still recommend this restaurant.
