Arrived for a family Sunday lunch and greeted by blank stares by staff. I had booked the dining room as I don’t personally like eating in an area where dogs are but we were taken to a table next to a couple with a dog. Food arrived quickly & was tasty although not very hot and that was the last we saw of the waitress. Tried to catch her attention but she was just standing at the desk talking to a colleague, we waved, called out but we were completely ignored. Eventually hubby got up & went & got her. She was not best pleased judging by the look on her face. We felt so unwelcome & ignored that we left without desserts or coffees and would have spent at least another £50 but their loss. Needless to say we won’t be back despite the nice food. I’d rather go somewhere where the staff are pleasant & friendly.

Terrible. Real decline in standards over the last couple of years. Service very slow, seemed understaffed to me (not the staff's fault) Food was very poor. Pasrty in pie was rock hard and inedible. Looking at other reviews this seems a common theme. Pasta dish was lukewarm. Have had some fantastic meals in here for the last few years, but the last 3 visits have all been progressively worse. Probably won't retun.

Sorry, I hate doing this but the service we received was non-existent. Having booked a table for two we arrived and were quickly taken to our table. And that was it. In 35 minutes no-one offered us drinks or took our order. My wife eventually went to the bar to get some tap water as it was warm and we were thirsty. Another couple were seated after us and their drinks order was taken. Still nothing for us. We complained and were just met with blank faces. So we left. Nothing else to say really.

If you book a table for 6 people /2 dogs, 2 weeks in advance of your arrival, you expect to be seated at your table within a 10 minute window.? You should not have to remind staff you are waiting. But sadly this was the case. Eventually receiving food at 4.55pm Food when it arrived was tasty, sadly the hard work of the chef and team was spoilt by such poor attention to detail. I accept Sunday can be a busy time, but courtesy and attention to your customer costs nothing.

We stay at the Caravan Club site at Long Ashes for a week a couple of times a year and have done for many years. When we do we always visit the Gamekeepers Inn for drinks and normally a couple of evening meals. This time we arrived on the site on Tuesday 19 March and after setting up the caravan we walked to the Gamekeepers Inn for a drink and to book a table this time just for a meal on the Saturday evening 23 March. It was around four o'clock in the afternoon on the Tuesday when I ordered our drinks and asked the Gentleman behind the bar could we reserve a table for the Saturday evening. We agreed on 7pm and he took my name and mobile number. Wrote it down on a piece of paper and handed it to the girl next to him and asked her to do whatever she needed to do with it to reserve us a table. On the Saturday evening we arrived at ten to seven and found it was the same person we had reserved the table with on Tuesday who was at the reception for the restaurant. We gave our name and said we had booked a table for seven 7pm. He checked the list. We were not on it. 'Are you sure ?' was his response. We said it was you who we booked it with. 'when did you book ?' was the next question. We explained that last Tuesday we had been in for a drink around 4pm in the afternoon and while we were there we had reserved a table with this same person for Saturday at 7pm and that he had taken our name and number and handed it tot he girl next to him. 'Not something I would do, are you sure it wasn't the other way round?' was his reply. He wasn't having that we had booked a table with him and there was no sign of any kind of apology or any acknowledgment that it was his mistake. Eventually we were told., not asked politely, to sit in the bar and have a drink and he would find us a table but it would be half an hour. After a full hour had passed we were starting to get a bit fed up. We had been completely ignored during this time even though we were sat right next to the door into the kitchen and the gentleman concerned had walked past us at least a dozen times it was almost as if he was trying to avoid eye contact with us and we honestly felt he was hoping we would get fed up and leave. There was still no apology or acknowledgement for the mistake of not making our booking or keeping us waiting. Eventually I spoke the the gentleman behind the bar and asked who the Manager was ? He was a helpful person and explained that he was the Assistant Manager and that the individual we had been dealing with was actually the General Manager - Great ! I explained what had happened to the Assistant Manager who took things into his own hands and we were sat at a table within two minutes. It was actually the General Manager who then brought us our menus, came back and took our food order etc. and still at no point he still did not acknowledge his mistake, make any apology and still did not even apologise for keeping us waiting. We felt the who atmosphere with him was very tense. We rushed our meal to be completely honest because by this time we just wanted to get out, we dint even bother with a sweet. When I went to pay our bill it was the General Manager again who took payment. Again at no point did he offer any kind of apology for either his initial mess up or keeping us waiting. He even had the audacity to ask me if everything had been OK? I was gobsmacked. My response was that the food had been OK, with emphasis on the word food. I struggle to comprehend that this person is the General Manager. His whole manner and demeanour is not fitting of a person in a position dealing with customers. I work in a customer facing environment myself and have done for forty years and I have never experienced anything like this before. We are extremely disappointed in the Gamekeepers Inn and question if we will ever return because of this. The whole experience was appalling and I feel we completely wasted our money and our evening was ruined. I would also stress that during all the time we were waiting even though it was clearly busy here was an an empty table the whole time.

We had walked down the river Wharfe on a beautiful sunny day and were hungry. Just a short drive from Grassington, set in woodland with ample parking. By this time it was around 2.00pm and some guests were ordering afternoon tea! We chose the fish & seafood sharing platter from the starter menu, topped up with a portion of chips (fries) and battered onion rings. We didn't have too long to wait, when it came all was piping hot. Washed down with a very good Merlot. Cost: £45 with tip.

Sadly gone downhill under new management. Visited for Sunday lunch but unwelcome reception although we had booked, duty manager complaining about other diners in earshot. Young waitress polite and professional though. Meat in steak pie fatty, not worth the money at all. Roast potatoes clearly frozen and bought in. Unsurprisingly we weren't asked how the food was. Really need to improve in all areas.

We took an elderly relative for afternoon tea and it was really lovely. It’s an “alternative” afternoon tea and we had miniature fish and chips, mini burgers, sausage rolls, spring rolls and meatballs followed by scones and cakes. I had a veggie version which was again really good. We really enjoyed it! The service was also good. 5/5! I’m going to note a slight negative- the afternoon tea was meant to come with tea or coffee but we weren’t offered any. I actually asked for a coffee and the others ended up ordering soft drinks, but all of these were charged for. When I mentioned this we were told that an Americano isn’t included- it’s only filter coffee. I do wish we’d been offered the tea/coffee that we paid for. That said, I would go back because we did enjoy our visit.

Stayed at the touring site in close proximity to this establishment. One of the highlights of our annual stay is to have two or three meals there. Went on Saturday night and service was ok ,not up to the standard we had been used to but it was fairly busy so could forgive. Went again on Monday evening and it was to say the least, appalling in terms of customer service. All got off to good start with the waitress taking orders for drinks and a main course which all arrived in good time. Having finished, a young waiter took away our plates but with no offer of a sweet menu. The waitress who had taken our order initially was engrossed in a very in depth conversation with a couple at a table totally oblivious to what was going on in the restaurant. After waiting a further ten minutes we came to the conclusion that this was a business that has totally lost its way and paid and left. Needless to say the next visits this week we had planned will not be at this restaurant.

We were staying at the Caravan Club site round the corner and visited here on the 15th August as it was in walking distance and the menu looked good. Arrived and was shown to our table by a pleasant lad who then walked away after leaving us menus. Again, he was pleasant enough but didn't really seemed interested. After waiting 15 minutes I went and found him and asked for a wine list, he came, took our drinks order and our food order. A girl brought the wine to us and also served our food. We had a main course (no starter) as we wanted a dessert as well. We finished our food, drank our drinks and waited. And waited. No-one asked if the food was okay (it was) or if we wanted anything else (we did). After 30 minutes I got up, found one of the lads and told him we wanted to pay the bill and go as we'd waited long enough. No apology or questions. It's a pity as the food was quite good, but the servers really need to up their game and have a bit of enthusiasm and interaction with the guests.

So settled down on our table and then went back to the bar for a menu only to be told by some bloke behind the bar that walk ins weren’t welcome as they were so busy !!! We looked around and they definitely weren’t busy as there were tables free and not many people about !!! We arrived 2+ hours before the end of service !!! The service we received was disappointing with nobody bothering about the fact we weren’t happy !!! Whatever you do don’t come here on the off chance of having anything to eat or you also be disappointed unless you like crisps !!! How things have changed………….

Probably just experienced the worst ever dining experience ever, total shambles. Steak night at the gamekeepers not promoted had to ask for the menu, waitress not a clue what was happening, only 14 in the restaurant, god only knows what will happen if they were busy, it’s not difficult to see why locals don’t use their pubs. Never asked during the whole time if everything was okay, came to desert we had the cheeseboard, had to ask for knives and plates as the waitress admitted she didn’t know what to offer with it, real shame because there was nothing wrong with the food but the front house staff really need training and that goes for whom I assume to be the manager. Would definitely not recommend

The food was fine, fresh and tasty enough, the triple cooked chips being straight out of the oven cooked bag. We were squeezed onto a table between the kitchen door and the till with the whole conservatory area empty. People having conversations right next to our table made us feel we were sitting in a corridor. Then the serving staff came and had their break on the table next to us, obviously no room in the kitchen or staff area, even Wetherspoons have a staff area, not professional, but that’s maybe what happens on a caravan site restaurant!

We were recommended this restaurant as it was a slightly posher and nicer place to eat. We got sat at a table that was in a quite awkward place, we felt shoved in a corner where there was just enough room for a table. The food was okay. Standard pub grub, like a slightly nicer Wetherspoons. Scampi was not real scampi, more mush flavoured scampi. Fish was a decent size with a nice batter. Triple cooked chips were pretty much just deep fried, nothing to special. The staff were nice and helpful enough but they decided to have their break sat at the table next to us, rather in a dedicated staff break room, it seemed slightly unprofessional. Food was decently priced but the whole experience was slightly awkward. The best part of the whole restaurant was that it was dog friendly and there was lots of dogs in the restaurant.

Prepared by different chefs/cooks, on a Thursday it becomes the responsibility of Alina and she provides lovely lean bacon, poached eggs to perfection with a nice hollandaise sauce, all on a muffin and the flavour and taste is excellent. This is only one of a delightful varied menu and can assure you that looking forward to breakfast at the gamekeeper`s is high on our list of priorities.

On 13th July my husband and I were guests at a wedding, the reception was at The Gamekeepers Inn where we had booked a room for overnight stay. The night before travelling to the wedding, due to unforeseen circumstances, we discovered we had to take our 14 year old son with us . My husband phoned Stuart , the landlord, who had no problem in accommodating our son with bed and breakfast for a nominal fee. On arrival to the Inn, we asked for a taxi number to get us to the wedding service in Skipton. Stuart's wife Verity took us to the wedding in her car to ensure that we arrived on time. As our son was not a guest at the wedding Stuart said that he would help our son out if he needed anything and kept an eye on him while he ate his meals. Our room was lovely, comfortable and clean. We had free access to the pool. All of our meals were beautiful. One of the best weddings we have ever attended, our weekend was made even more special by Stuart and Verity who went above and beyond with their kindness and hospitality. Our son, who never wants to travel away from home even wants to visit again. Fantastic all round. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you so much. Anne, Chris and Ben Gray.

We have visited this place twice for drinks and once recently for food too. The bar area is starting to look like it needs a bit of TLC as the seating looks very worn and at least some of the chairs are decidedly uncomfortable. It also feels a bit sterile and lacks atmosphere. However the restaurant serves lovely food and the lightest, tastiest sticky toffee pud I’ve ever tasted. The carvery meals looked gorgeous though we had something else. Service was excellent.

A weird sort of holiday park concreted over the countryside. Food was nice, but in the lodge they didn’t even bother to provide a recycling bin

just stayed the one night 23/4/19 it was present for me and wife from daughter and son, been many times to the pub but this was the first time we have stayed the night. The pub is nice but the bar area needs new seats, the leather seats have had their days, plenty of beer choices, the menu could do with a new look, we had afternoon tea, which was not to my liking, this needs a fresh look with more of a healthy theme, get rid of the pies and processed meats and cakes, what it said on the menu you did not get. The room we had was a delux room very new and clean, but the bath/shower was very deep and difficult to get into and out of when wet, so some sort of grab handle on the wall is needed for safetys sake. The patio area needs some outside furniture, it would be nice to sit outside in the sunshine, the room was the great whernside,

This is a nice contemporary pub/restaurant/hotel just a stroll from the Grassington caravan club site, nice modern pub with a nice but basic menu, the only drawback is limited seating so I think its advisable to book in advance.

We had a fabulous short break here with a relaxing trip to the Spa, and a superb meal in the restaurant. The dinner, bread and breakfast offer is excellent value. We will definitely be back!

Was this place quirky-Yes In a good location - Yes Did it have outside seating- Yes Drinks good- Yes Is it Child Friendly- No Now don’t get me wrong, this place is great. Sells local Ales-love. The guy behind the bar was friendly. However where this place went wrong. I’ll explain… As a group of 10 Adults & 8 Children, we were out for a walk exploring the local area to our campsite. We’d walked for an hour, so we were all pleased and excited to see a pub with outside seating where we could sit and enjoy a drink. However the wasps! Now no one is blaming the pub, for this, it is what it is however what was not acceptable was when our children got over excited and let’s be honest flappy about the wasps. A couple of them jumped up on the benches/walls. Now I’m not about to justify this, we calmed them down a couple of times so we aren’t saying it was acceptable to stand on the seats, it wasn’t. But what was not acceptable was when the lady working inside came out and quite aggressively shouted at our children, scared the living crap out of them and then very loudly told anyone that would listen that our children (and I quote) were ‘savages’. Here is some friendly advice on dealing with children in the 21st century- come talk to the parents, even shout at us if you like. But what is never acceptable is to shout at other peoples children. I’d have preferred you to have kicked us out, but let’s be honest, they weren’t exactly trashing the place. I consider myself to be a pretty strict parent but they were just being kids, playing games and living a life outside of devices. It was actually nice to see. Your reaction was wholly unacceptable and I’m hoping was you on a bad day rather than a true reflection of you and your business. I have based the 3 stars I have given you to take all aspects on board but my overall recommendation would be, this pub is not child friendly.
