We love to pop in here for a freshly baked sausage roll and coffee. Occasionally a slice of delicious chocolate orange cake! There is always a friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. We really missed our regular trips here when we were locked down and are thrilled that we can now visit again. A little bit if normality has returned.

Can definitely recommend the scones quite often there are specialty ones, last week were blackcurrant and apple very tasty. Very warm welcome. All precautions in place at the moment. Booking available and well behaved dogs welcome although we shop in town so haven’t taken ours but have seen dogs are welcomed.lots of delicious drinks available. They also do bootable take away picnics or afternoon teas.

Although small and often busy, this small coffee shop is great. Very friendly helpful staff, quick service even when busy. Homemade cakesmp, scones etc and even homemade gluten free treats too. Delicious coffee. They have useful kitchen items for sale too.

This is a lovely little cafe/tea shop with nice cakes and coffee but as a regular customer it does feel like the staff all gravitate into the kitchen area so getting service and paying can be a little slow. It is a shame because when they are there they are very friendly and pleasant. So I would ask the cafe to think about always having someone front of house and I would recommend it as a nice place to stop for a coffee to everyone else.

Today we had the most amazing time eating, drinking and chatting at the Galley Cookshop. The cheese scones were so delicious and the blueberry and lemon scones were the best thing we’ve ever tasted. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t be more accommodating, couldn’t recommend it enough.

Small and friendly, delicious homemade Cheese and Fruit Scones, best in the world, must go again soon, I have been twice this week, Cappucino Excellant with freshly grated Chocolate Sprinkles mmmm.👍

Our first visit to Beccles and so where to go for a cuppa! We were lucky to find the Galley and meet the very friendly and helpful staff. We had tea and cake and were spoilt for choice. The tea room is smartly furnished abd very clean. Definitely worth a return visit.

This is a place I often take friends as well as my Mom whoi is turning 87 soon, Not too noisy, no loud music of clanking of dishes. Last Saturday after slimming world weigh in I once again visited with a friend. I stared at all the goodies, as not wanting to have anything too fattening. The lady was so gracious and explained how many syns (used by slimming world) in each product.. The hot drinks were served with a small slim line, home made cookie.. most enjoyable.. This place is quite central, but away from any loud noises.

Go there a couple of days a week to get my black coffee to take away staff are always happy and friendly and very polite, and the coffee is to die for and always is a great and happy service thank you so much will always recommend people to the shop thanks x

We come here every week with our grandchildren. The brownies are excellent so I'm told, but I have a warm Danish which is lovely. It's clean, welcoming and the staff are friendly and believe in good service! Recommended to all!!

For the first few years after it opened, this was a brilliant cook shop with an enormous selection of kitchen gadgets, utensils etc. The staff were more than helpful and would spend ages searching catalogues if they didn't stock what you were looking for. Since it changed hands it has become a coffee shop with a very limited stock of kitchen ware. The tables are almost piled on top of each other. On a visit today to look for a kitchen item, nobody took any interest whatsoever. Never going back again.

My wife and I were in beccles for a little shopping and needed a quick lunch. We both went for hot home made food which was well made, tasty and nicely presented. Service was prompt at all times but never over bearing. All in £12 for 2 hot lunches and 2 coffees. Would certainly go here again

Such a bubbly place with great coffee and amazing cheese scones. The staff are great fun and efficient. I love relaxing there after a game of tennis or just as a place to relax and pass the time.

A gem of a cook shop with every gadget imaginable, even those you don't really need but can't live without!The tea shop is well placed amongst all the stock and shelves and serves delicious home made goodies. The range of hot drinks is good too, the coffee was excellent. Good pricing too and waitress service.

We have visited this cafe (within the Galley kitchen shop) several times this year. The flat white coffees are excellent and the homemade scones and cakes are to die for! Very friendly and attentive service too. What more could you ask for!

This is a very friendly cafe with excellent hosts who make you welcome. Gluten free cakes were available as well as the usual snacks. A very well stocked shop full of a wide range of kitchen equipment and gadgets. The grandchildren love it.

Wow what can I say who knew that Beccles had such an amazing hidden gem called The Galley Cookshop, not only is it filled with brilliant cookware that every household should have, but the coffee shop is the best that I've ever been to. I visited the Galley with not very high expectations due to the recent review that I had read stating that the staff where very dismissive, unfriendly and overall not very helpful, well who ever you are you couldn't of been any more wrong! Makes me question whether you reviewed the right place! The service that I received was above anything that I have had before, not only where the girls helpful and full of knowledge of the cookshop, the table service that I got in the coffee shop was phenomenal, plus the scones and coffee that I had where the best that I have had in a long time and reasonable prices too which is always an added bonus! I was delighted at the fact that I got to meet both of the owners who were more than happy to give me some of their time, so I could praise them on what a wonderful place that they have! Well done Lynn and Lucy, you should feel proud to call the Galley yours as you are both doing an outstanding job and I will definitely be coming back and recommending you to everyone that I meet!

I LOVE this place, my partner and me visit often for one of their delicious scones and a cup of the best coffee in town (and certainly well worth the price) but this is the second visit where I have faced with what I can only describe as a rude and dismissive attitude. I can only assume this is the manager or owner, no smile and a very frosty reply when I asked if they were open (well you don't expect to find someone sitting at at table counting money with one hand and holding their mobile phone with the other, with their shoes of) she could barley look at us and didn't even bother to smile or stand up when we entered, just shouted from someone in the other room to come out. I took my friend in for coffee that day (she had never been and I insisted it was the best place to go) and I'm sad to say we left very quickly after finishing our drinks and she wont be returning!

Best coffee shop in town. Always quick friendly reliable service from Lucy and co. Cheese scones to die for! But don't tell too many people as it's not that big and already hard to get a table sometimes!!

The Galley is hidden away from the centre of town but you should definitely seek it out! It shares its space with a fascinating cookshop of enviable and desirable gadgets and kitchen 'must haves'! The staff here are always friendly, the cake selection looks amazing but I opted for a cheese scone today which I rate among the best I've ever had, flavoursome and cheesy. Will definitely return to try some of the other tempting goodies.

We came across this lovely dog friendly cafe yesterday, the owners were very welcoming, we had a lovely lunch and chatted with other customers, it was a very enjoyable time and highly recomend this little gem. A big woof from Skyla.

A small coffee shop adjacent to a kitchen shop run by lovely owners; a destination if ever there was one! We've been back several times and have enjoyed their scones and jam each time. No complaints, especially since it's so friendly, clean and cosy.

Neville and Carol are such genuinely friendly people and always find time for a bit of a chat. The coffee shop staff are equally friendly and cheerful even when they are clearly busy.There is a sense of good old fashioned "customer service" when ever I visit and thoroughly recommend the shop for all your catering needs or just a cup of coffee.

Usually our first choice in Beccles for coffee and a scone, which are baked on the premises each day. If I manage to resist a scone, coffee always comes with a tiny delicious home made buttery shortbread biscuit. The only drawback of the Galley ( not a criticism), is that it can be noisy due to the coffee machine, and chatter, in the small space which isn't softened by any soft furnishings. Always friendly with many regulars.

Visited with my two young children in tow. They ordered two cheese scones and a sausage roll. The food was home made, served warm and tasted lovely (a good amount of cheese in the cheese scone!). My daughter had the hot chocolate (without the optional cream) and was delighted with it! Service was prompt and friendly and I will definitely return.

Excellent selection of fresh baked cakes and scones a real must with a great selection of coffees and teas.

We've been visiting The Galley for some time now, the cafe is excellent, scones are to die for! All food is first class, the service is very good and everyone is very friendly. The cook shop is amazing, a real hidden treasure, it looks expensive but isn't at all, well worth a browse.Our only 'complaint' is that the coffee machine is very noisy, lots of loud 'whooshing', as the cafe is small I suppose it's more noticeable, it doesn't stop us going though!

I go here often with friends good coffee lovely cakes friendly staff as wellalso take the grandchildren which one of them is gluten intolerant which is catered for with a nice range of cakes fruit bread and crumpets spoilt for choice and homemade too would recommend to anyone and have done well done all at THE GALLEY COOKSHOP xx

Well, what a find. We were up from Somerset on our first visit to Beccles and after a nice pub meal fancied a coffee. We saw the Gallery and as we had a dog enquired as to whether we could come in with him, expecting the usual no. He couldn't have been more welcomed! The staff made a complete fuss of him as we enjoyed great coffee and cake. We'll definately be back next time we are visiting!

Popped in here for a quick coffee and cake, was pleasantly surprised with the friendly service and quality of cakes and coffee.

We visited the CookShop but ended up having a very enjoyable coffee stop. We had a flat white and a cappuccino which had dark chocolate flakes on top instead of usual cocoa- yummy. Toasted teacake good and fruit scone delicious with choice of jam. All very well presented and excellent customer service.

Yes the scones are really good. I had the cheese my husband the fruit . Fresh from the oven and delicious. Would highly recommend. Friendly helpful staff too.

Friendly coffee cake light lunch stop within a shop. Some daily specials and gluten free choices. Papers to read, which belps to relax the single diner. Stzff abd owner couldnt do enough for me. Delightful experience. Only a few tables

My wife and I visited this café/cookshop with friends because we enjoyed the tea and cakes so much on an earlier visit. It is even better! Room has been made for extra tables - which was needed - and it is more spacious and comfortable. The service was excellent - served with a big genuine smile, the tea was still lovely, and the cakes were still delicious!Highly recommended.

After seeing other members reports we tried The Galley Cookshop and we were not disappointed, Sausage Rolls were delicious, my wife had the best Cheese Scone she had ever had, Tea and Coffee also excellent (no T bags here)

Not sure the negative reviews are justified, cannot see anywhere that it says its a restaurant, not their fault if someone assumes it is and is then disappointed! Certainly the best cheese scones I have had staff friendly and attentive child friendly and good value. Regularly go with the family and friends.

I was first introduced to the cafe by a friend and although I live in Beccles and shop in Beccles I have never been inside the shop so didn't know there was a cafe hiding inside either! What can I say . I love it! It's cosy , staff are friendly and the food is delicious. Have been 3 times now since December 2014, and have had the same , cream tea which is a fruit scone with jams and cream etc , a choice of cake and choice of drink, very well priced. Coffees come with their own baked vanilla biscuits too which are tasty .

Let's get one thing straight this not a restaurant and doesn't claim to be but where else do you put it on tripadvisor?It is however a brilliant tea shop in a cook shop and it has not only possibly the best Cheese scones in the Universe but waitresses to match. No, I don't mean cheesy, I mean friendly welcoming and polite and happy to chat. It is obviously popular and people must keep going back because it was clear that the waitresses knew the names of about 75% of them.It was the second time I have tried this excellent facility and parking at nearby Tesco is a doddle.If I have a complaint it is this. The cakes on offer look as though they might be delicious but I will never find out because I am hooked on those cheese scones that are made daily by the girls themselves. Awesome!

After a visit to Beccles i fancied a coffee and cake before driving home. Nearly went to Costa but thought it wouod be full of noisy children. Looked in and there were people in the shop, but then got a fantastic welcoming smile from the waitress...who could then resist. I had been here before for a light lunch, so knew the coffee was good. The wall display had 3 gluten free options so i was smitten. The toasted tea bread was recommended and came with large pots of butter, jam and apricot conserve. Delicious. The coffee even came with a large 3 chocolate biscuit that i was assured was gluten free too. I took home 2 pieces of the delicious homemade brownie for later. The delightful owner also invited me to take home the papers to finish as i had asked to take home an article for reference. At no time did i feel rushed to finish, even at so close to closing, if anything i stayed longer chatting. I shall return ti get more use of the loyalty card. Great surroundings service value food and drink

When in Beccles this cafe is my favourite haunt for a coffee & fruit scone. The staff are uber friendly to humans & well behaved dogs! Delicious fruit or cheese scones, good selection of jams aswell. There isn't a massive array of food choices but what more do you need if it's a piece of decent homemade cake or, my fave, a decent scone. This is a welcoming bolt hole in a pretty market town, don't just take my word for it try it and see for yourself. Oh yes & forgot to mention very competitively priced:)

The Galley Cookshop recently supplied our office meeting with a tray of delicious scones! They were baked fresh that morning and went down a treat! A great shop for all cooks - as a lover of gadgets there is a lot of variety as well as the more practical items for a kitchen. The coffee is great - and the cheese scones are out of this world. A great place to visit.

We originally went into the Galley to take a look around the kitchen cookshop which has everything you could ever need for a kitchen! We then decided we fancied a coffee but there were no tables free. The staff then said if we were happy to wait a few minutes then they would save the next table for us, no problem at all. We had a more detailed look around the shop for a few minutes and then were told the table was ready. I had a lovely Cappacino and my other half had a coke, I also had a cheese scone which was lovely and came with the coffee as part of a deal. All in all, a very nice place to catch a quick coffee and a cake with very friendly and attentive staff.

I was introduced to the Gallery by my Mother.. what fantastic scones, cakes and biscuits. Tea and coffee was freshly made and HOT.. Having been there many times now I have never seen a dirty table or a grumpy staff member.. The actual shop if fantastic. Makes you energized again to start cooking

Went to the galley cooks shop assuming that it was a restraunt and i was very disapointed because they only had 3 cakes and a few scones cant understand why people say its a restraunt and its really not will definitely not be going again!!

If you haven't visited 'The Galley' you Must! The selection of homemade cakes and scones is amazing (the cheese scones are the best I've ever tasted), the staff cannot do enough and create a lovely atmosphere. The selection of drinks are endless and then there is the fantastic range of cookware to browse & buy in the shop afterwards. I would definitely recommend!

Wow!! What an amazing coffee shop, the coffee was superb. I ordered a flat white at it was just perfect. I genuinely cannot understand the negative feedback left by Emzcharlie, maybe they are competitors?? The cheese scones are second to none and if that isn't enough The Galley Cook Shop offers real value for money. I enjoyed sitting next to the quirky wall covered with random clocks. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly....what more can I say apart from....I'll be back!

Yes it is in a cook shop lovely place lovely staff lovely scones hot choc was ace, only thing jam should of been local or in a pot rather than tesco but still enjoyed the rest :)

When out shopping in the lovely town of Beccles with my son. We called into this cafe. Staff were very attentive if a bit slow. But can't really be called a cafe. With a choice of 3 cakes, t-cakes and croissant plus toast. Found it a huge disappointment! Coffee was adequate but nothing special. Certainly not my fav but helped by the staff

We have found this excellent coffee and cake shop. Tucked away but it is great. You are greeted by the owners who are wonderful.It is busy so be prepared to wait a few minutes. The coffee is fresh and well made and the cakes are great. We have now become regulars and enjoy our Saturday shopping with a break here. The other staff are well trained and great at doing what ever you ask for.

We live locally, so are familiar with all cafes, and restaurants in Beccles. The Galley is our favourite. Very friendly, and helpful service from all staff. Good coffee with refills for an extra 80p - beats everywhere else for value, and delicious scones. There are only a handful of tables as The Galley is primarily a kitchen shop, however the friendliness is catching, and you are likely to happily share a table with a stranger!

I have just telephoned The Galley Cookshop and spoken to Neville. I explained it was my mother's birthday and she was due to be visiting the cafe for afternoon tea at 3pm today with a friend, and how lovely it would be if he could arrange a surprise for her with a little cake or something and wish her a happy birthday from me. Neville completely embraced my request and said 'Leave it with me Clare....' I cannot fault his customer service, he seemed genuinely pleased to help me make my mother's day special for her. Thank you very much. I shall come and visit you very soon.

We have discovered this super little cafe, and will never go anywhere else now when we visit Beccles. The staff are so helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The scones are superb! I had a cheese scone and my partner had the fruit scone with excellent conserves served with it. The prices are very good indeed. As there is limited space you may have to wait for a cosy table, so look around the wonderful shop which suplies fantastic range of cookery items such as Dinosaur Sandwich makers!!!!! The coffe is high quality and served with REAL chocolate sprinkles on top at almost half the price of other cafes in the town. Daily newspapers are also availlable to read. They have thought of everything.

Staff went the extra mile. I loved their soya milk cappuccino. Waitress went to get special milk even though I ensured her I'd be just as happy with a black coffee. Wide range of cakes and pastries.

We four had four different coffees, a tea cake and two scones with butter and three different types of jam for under £11. Very friendly and caring staff in a cafe hidden inside a super cook shop.

Whilst on a visit to friends in Oulton Broad we spent an afternoon in Beccles and stopped here for a cuppa.It is an unusual mix of a cook shop and a tea room which works very well. We had a pot of tea and some cake, both of which were delicious.If you are looking for somewhere a little different and fun then this is the place.Worth a visit.
