We had a super time yesterday with friends at the Fine Dining Evening at The Gallery Restaurant in Stamford College. You have to book up well in advance by email or phone as it is so popular. The ambiance of the restaurant was excellent, it’s busy but not noisy. The students who provided the table service (I think working for their for nvq level 2) were very professional and friendly. The food (I think nvq level 3 students) was excellent. Up to the standard of a very expensive and exclusive establishment. The Gallery Restaurant is a credit to the hard working students and staff. We will be back! We wish all the students very good luck in their future careers.

Went for a family meal at lunchtime, as a former head chef I was amazed at the service and quality of the food . It was all delicious and beautifully presented, extremely good value will definitely be back again

We have eaten here a couple of times and it was fantastic, do not know what happened this time, the venue was nicely laid out, nice meet and greet my order was fan of melon with coulee top, Christmas lunch and tiramisu, the melon was not ripe it was green and hard, sent back and tried the filo parcel this was okay but it had been over cooked, turkey was so tough I could have used it to sole my shoes vegies were fine, so this went back and I tried the pork in pastry this was very nice, the pudding was lovely, out came the mince pies they were well over cooked and burnt, one of our party said if we were having another meal at this venue he would not be coming, it is such a disappointment there were problems with the food as when we have visited before it was great, the young staff did very well as they are in training, very polite and well turned out

Absolutely fantastic restaurant, service was brilliant, food was great, the student's do a superb job, this restaurant is highly recommended

We have eaten in some of the best restaurants and The Gallery is one of them. The students ALL work so hard. The food is fabulous, and although Fine Dining we never leave hungry. The addition of the new book shelves assists in creating a nicer more intimate atmosphere. There are of course small ‘blips’ for example a student might forget a tables request or drop a plate but these things happen in the best restaurants. A lovely touch is the Chef comes to the dining tables at the end of the night so you are able to ask questions. Patrons can also thank the chef personally. The Tutors should be commended for all their hard work during the evenings as they quietly monitor and guide their students. Well done again to all the students for our stunning meal. As usual the food was of the highest standard, presented beautifully and tasted superb. We are definitely so lucky to have this on our doorstep. I finally remembered to take photos !

My husband and I are regular diners at The Gallery and try to visit at least once a month, this alone speaks volumes! We have always been extremely impressed with the quality of food and this visit was no different. I always forget to take photos of the food, probably because it always looks so delicious that we tuck in straight away 🤗. The food serverd is of the highest quality and the standard beats many restaurants that we have eaten in. Keep up the great work guys, you are all amazing

The meal was out of this world, this is the best meal I can honestly remember having, the service was fantastic, the flavours were clean and fresh this is my first time dining here and I can’t wait to return again the presentation of the food was brilliant well done to all involved you did a great job. Top marks to everyone but especially our waiter Charlie on the night.

Excellent evening out hosted by the catering students at New College Stamford. Tonight's menu was by Level 3 student Raymond Mumby, who was assisted by other L3 and L2 students in the kitchen and front of house. Had a tasty bit of sea bass fillet, which was cooked to perfection. I'd thoroughly recommend anyone who wants a great evening out to visit The Gallery Kitchen at New College Stamford. Well done Raymond and team.

Food was great, restaurant was spotless, atmosphere was there but subtle which made talking with friends easy and not to loud. Would recommend for business meetings.

We absolutely love the Gallery restaurant. It’s always a super experience with such a pleasant convivial atmosphere. The food prepared by NVQ 3 students is always top class and the service by NVQ 2 (I think) students is very professional. Last night Josh was in charge of our table, a most employable young man with excellent customer service ability. We would like to wish all the students who contribute to the Gallery Restaurant very successful futures.

Five courses of fine dining in a pleasant environment, served by extremely willing and helpful smiley staff all for £25. Yes really. The Gallery restaurant is on the premises of Stamford College, and is where tomorrow's award winning chefs learn their fine dining trade. The consequence is that lucky locals get the chance to sample their efforts in a properly run and managed restaurant set up. Last week we started with a fishy 'amuse bouche' went on to a meat terrine starter, followed by an interesting mousse, before the triumph of a main course, that unusually was a mixture of beef and lamb served on the same plate. If there was any criticism to be made, it was the lack of vegetables, but this seems to be a fine dining problem, rather than a Gallery Restaurant issue. The pudding choice was panna cotta or custard tart, followed by coffee and petit fours. The house wine is perfectly acceptable, and there is an extensive liqueur menu. There were 12 of us, which makes it fun, but one person chose to come alone, and seemed perfectly comfortable with her book. Other parties were of twos and fours. I can't wait to go again.

We absolutely love this restaurant and everything about it. It has never been disappointing and we look forward to every visit. We try to book the evening Fine Dining but the lunches are equally good. You have to book in advance getting the details from the Stamford College website, as it run for NVQ training for the students. The food is amazing and exciting, all cooked by students. The service is attentive and an enjoyable atmosphere is created by the students. The wine selection is always good and at a reasonable price. A massive Well Done to all involved in this project! I would throughly recommend this restaurant.

We visited on a Thursday night for the fine dining set menu at £25 a head. There were options to choose from and all sounded nice. Good value as you get three good sized courses plus canapés, a sorbet/granite, petit fours and tea/coffee. Everything was made there and very tasty.

The Gallery Restaurant is run by local catering students at New College Stamford. The service is very good to say that the staff are learning everyday. The more customers, the better these students can learn. Prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Fantástica experiencia última noche en el restaurante Gallery última noche por su "Mejor de lo mejor escaparate": 7 campos por 25 libras!!! Soy celíaca y nos llamó por teléfono con antelación sobre este y fueron fantásticos sobre sin gluten. Tenían pan sin gluten para mí, mi propio conjunto de canapés y sólo tuve que modificar unos cuantos platos para mí. Estaban muy bien informados. La comida era tan, tan sabrosa y el servicio era fantástico. Todo el personal parecía estar entusiasmado con lo que estaba haciendo, y era muy atento y muy profesional. Una fantástica experiencia de increíble valor, en un entorno relajado. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomendaría a cualquiera!

Visité La galería con amigos para el almuerzo. Nos recibió una señorita muy sonriente que nos enseñó a nuestra mesa. Hay un menú fijo con una selección de entrantes, platos principales y postres.

Fuimos a cenar, la hora del almuerzo con mi marido y amigos hoy en la galería y en la entrada nos recibió un estudiante muy servicial que nos enseñó a nuestra mesa de una manera muy eficiente. La comida era excelente y todo servido por un personal muy amable. Así como la comida, la mejor parte para mí fue el hecho de que nada era demasiado problema para los estudiantes, lo cual creó un ambiente muy agradable y para un almuerzo encantador. Bien hecho La Galería deseando volver a comer ya.

This is my 4th visit to The Gallery @ Stamford College, and it's as good as ever...just a lovely place to "fine dine", perfect food and perfect service. It really is Stamfords "best kept secret"!!

The food was amazingly good the sweet chilli sauce was equal in sweet and spicy beautifully seasoned and the minute cooked steak was cooked to perfection The service was nice and polite

An extremely enjoyable evening, the ambiance was relaxed, the waiters and waitresses were happy and smiling yet professional they couldn't have been more helpful or polite. The food was presented well and delicious everyone enjoyed their choices. We had a set menu with a number of varied courses and the portion sizes were perfect. All in all a experience to be recommended and great value for money

Visited Weds 20th Jan with Friends who had not been before. Excellent meal, service and overall experience. The Establishment seems to have lost their 'Matrie de/Organiser' but the staff still excelled. One thing that was missing from previous visits was the Chef(s) coming round asking how the food was. Otherwise - excellent. Reccomended to those who have not experienced.

Visited with parents to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Food superb and service very professional yet friendly. Our waiter made our evening - an absolute joy. Gluten Free/ Coeliac meal for my Dad catered for excellently, special canapes and bread organised. (He will forever be known now as the Celeriac though !! Lol !! Thanks James :-)A wonderful evening, lovely restaurant surroundings within the college, superb food and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

The meals are just wonderful. They are well presented, taste amazing and the service is excellent. We had a 3 course meal with wine and coffee for £14!!! Definitely worth a visit.

We visited The Gallery this evening for a fine dining experience of 5 courses. Absolutely superb. A very well thought out menu with fantastic flavours throughout and all immaculately presented, a real credit to the chefs. We had a very attentive polite waiter too, as were all the waiters/ waitresses. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I highly recommend this hidden gem in Stamford.

Exceptional value, wonderful menus, and a great experience. Cant recommend it enough. A must visit if you are in Stamford.

A hidden gem in Stamford!New college Stamford's training restaurant for the kitchen and front of house staff of the future.The place is bright and spotlessly clean.The young people friendly and attentive and the food is beautifully cooked and presented and excellent value for money.I'd go again for sure and certainly recommend it

Visited for lunch with friends. Most impressed by the quality of the food and good service. The students did us proud. Good choice of dishes to accommodate all tastes, reasonable prices for both the food and wine. The menu changes every couple of weeks and you can view them on line. Would certainly visit again.

A visit to the Gallery Restaurant is a intense taste experience and truly deserves its "finest gourmet " description.The college students in both kitchen and restaurant are enthusiastic and interested in the service they are providing, which is carefully and unobtrusively managed.We have visited many times and will continue to do so - the price is so good.The Gallery has become our "benchmark" by which we measure other gourmet restaurants and we haven't found one comparable.

Visited on Wednesday 3 June 2015 for the buffet lunch . Choice of fruit juice, three delicious courses and tea or coffee to finish , all for the total price of £8·95 each ! Welcomed and served with a smile by extremely pleasant and helpful young chefs of the future. I'm saddened only by the fact that this delightful experience is limited to term times at the College . Very well done to all concerned. My advice , when this is available , forget all the rest !

I always enjoy visiting The Gallery, the food and service are always second to none. The previous reviewer who wrote the bad review needs to remember this is a training kitchen and needs to consider whether it would of been better to complain at the time so the situation could be rectified! The value for money is also excellent, two chef standard courses for £8.95! This can't be beaten in Stamford. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I am keen to visit again soon.

Food was most disappointing. Fish starter was fine, dessert was good but the main course (mixed grill) was awful. Chips were appalling, chop was raw inside burnt on the outside, cauliflower had 'split' and offal was running with blood.Students waiting at table were good, particularly the Manager, although 'attention to detail' was missing.

Visited here for the fine dining night and was not disappointed. The standard of food for the price was fantastic and enjoyed every one of the 7 courses. Could not find a fault and will be back.

I phoned up and book a table for 10 then had to alter to only 7, the staff/students couldn't have been more helpful. When we arrived the restaurant was busy but we were seated and drinks sorted out immediately. We had 7 courses to enjoy all were beautifully presented and very tasty, fine dining without the normal fine dining price.The restaurant is run by students of Stamford College having the opportunity to cater and to a very high standard

We had a wonderful meal on Thursday evening, the service was fantastic, very attentative and young polite staff .[but not too clingy] The menu was inventive and exciting to eat. I have to say I think they were the best canapes I have ever tasted and I really liked the deconstructive carrot cake-so light. I am not a lamb fan but as that's what was on the menu i had no choice and I'm glad to say I didn't - it was delicious. There were 7 of us enjoying celebrating 3 birthdays and what a super way to spend it. Unfortunately a few couldn't make it and they missed a real treat. However I am sure now we have found this gem we will go again.

Blimey...cant stop telling people about the Gallery!After talking about trying to get in at the New College training restaurant we finally got round to making a reservation for Thurs 5th Feb....wished we had done it sooner.Charlie "Chuck" Wallis was our chef for the night, and a true talent.He explained that he had managed a team of over 7 for two days in the kitchen to produce an absolute cracking menu on the night.Wild mushroom & homemade tortellini - delicate but taste smacking with the rocket & parmesanSkate wing - with a complimentary artichoke puree, exquisite with the white wine.Mint & cucumber sorbet....the best palate cleanser we can ever recall having.Duck breast - thyme, red cabbage sweetened with parsnip & juniper reduced jus....this was a clearly a result of two days stock reduction and pure chef's hard work.Finally Vanilla with sweet honeycomb but a tangy blood orange was a burst of tastes on the one plate.The team from front of house right through were diligent and attending without being oppressive....so the whole night was an experience we will be back for and recommend to anyone. The environment was surprisingly charming & cosy, suiting small or larger parties.This menu demonstrated the attention to detail of any Michelin star restaurant, which is a real credit to the college and all the teaching staff...these young people will go far.Keep it up....we look forward to returning with family & friends.

We are experienced bon viveurs who had heard much about the Gallery and we were keen to sample it at first hand. First impression -good ambience, soft music and a warm welcome from the front of house. A very pleasant setting which belied its college setting. The young Staff were smart, enthusiastic and very attentive. The food, almost a Taster Menu of many courses, was extremely well prepared, cooked and presented - even the late Michael Winner might have been moved to a satisfied smile. The Chef joined us after the meal and his unbridled passion for his vocation overflowed. Unsure of the availability of wines, "Sir Basil" treated us to a couple of suitable vintages from his cellar, so I am unable to comment on the wine, save the list looked well constructed and came at a very reasonable price. Overall, an excellent evening which we will repeat ere long. Many congratulations and thanks to the Chef and his Staff, and of course the learned tutors in the background who have trained and motivated the Team so well.

It's been some years since we were at this restaurant,which as has been mentioned is part of the Stamford College campus.Students prepare,serve and manage the running of the restaurant ,in smart,named uniforms.The decor has improved since then and it now feels like a smart,modern business.Our three course meals were all presented well and tasted to a high standard....the quality and quantity spot on. I applaud the way the Gallery is run,giving the chefs,front of house and managers of the future a chance to experience the real thing in a controlled and professional setting...I would visit again without question.

Great service, and good food.....amazing value for money........you feel really well looked after and all the students working there are very professional. They seem to really care.......unusual in so many restaurants.....it just feels like a great team effort with great food.

Hi, a group of 11 people sat and ate @ the gallery, every one agreed, the food and service were nothing short of excellent!

This was our first time at the fine dining night and we were not disappointed. The food was visually very appealing and tasted fantastic. We would recommend everyone to try one of these nights.

I have eaten at this student training restaurant with friends on many occasions and each time we are impressed with the level of service and the high standard of the meal.. Staff and students are always friendly and professional and provide a great service. Both lunch and dinners are excellent value.

One of the best meals I have eaten for a long time. Visited for one of the fine dining evenings which get booked up quickly and rightly so. 7 courses of sublime flavour combinations, beautifully presented for only £25! Service was also good and with perfectly timed breaks between courses. It's difficult to pick a highlight as it was all fantastic but I especially enjoyed the artichoke veloute with it's lovely mixture of creamy soup, salty bacon, almonds and apples, the ideal pairing scallops and chorizo, perfectly cooked and the ginger icecream which came with the tart - amazing. I almost didn't write a review as I don't want it to become impossible to get in but the students deserve the praise. Look forward to going again soon!

The Gallery restaurant is a training kitchen for Stamford College, run by an experienced chef and giving students the chance to try out their dishes on the public.And you will be amazed by the results - not just because it is such great value -- but because the food is really very, very good. More time and more resources that the average time-strapped commercial kitchen means that some quite beautiful dishes can be created.Try it, you will not be disappointed. What you might miss in service refinement is more than compensated for in knowing that you are helping support the culinary stars of tomorrow.

We went here for lunch and they had just started the Xmas menu. We both had the Game Terrine followed by the SeaBass, both very enjoyable especially the SeaBass which was cooked to perfection and the veg that came with it was delicious. The desserts were flawless. We enjoyed it so much we are going back there again with friends in the next week. Would totally recommend!

Well that was a lovely lunch. Excellent food and super attention by students who had only done two services before this. Most restaurants could and should learn from the students both front and back of house.And a charming restaurant supervisor/tutor who handled the students and clients just right. Lovely.We're booked in for a birthday fine dining dinner later in the month. Can't wait.

Visited for both the Evening Dinner and the Lunch, have to say both were very good. The Food was very professionally prepared, and the service was very good. How nice to see waiters 'come back and apologize' if they got something 'not quite right'. Many so called 'Professional Establishments' simply have that 'take it or leave it' attitude.Well done the the Students and their Tutors. Will certainly be going again

What a hidden gem!..went here for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it... service was impeccable, food delicious..wine not bad ether!..not many places you can go for lovely 3 course lunch for £11.50! well done everyone at Stamford New College.They also sell pastries and puddings at very reasonable cost..sausage rolls to die for!!

I absolutely loved my meal here, I visited with my family, the food we had was cooked to perfection, we all loved our meals and the service was fantastic. In my opinion it is the best place I have eaten in The Gallery Restaurant and I have already booked for return visit, I would happily recommend eating here to anyone.

Not only is the price very good, I have to say that the food is absolutely first class.I could not believe it. Every dish was superb.Well done, we will be back.

I had been looking for something special to compliment a trip to Stamford and came across these reviews for the Gallery. Ideally, I wanted to book for one of the fine dining evenings, so when they weren't available for the day I wanted I was a little hesitant to 'make do' with lunch. I needn't have been. Quality of the menu and cooking was first class. Each dish we had was excellent and of course wonderful value. The service was good - friendly and efficient, but bear in mind these students are inexperienced. Will be returning to try the fine dining!

I would rate the Gallery Restuarant on the way up to being on a par with the big boys with their Michelin Stars! The food is beautifully presented and the menus imaginative and adventurous. I would recommend the restaurant, particularly the fine dining evenings to anyone who really enjoys good food.

I have visted the Gallery Restaurant on many occassions and always found both the staff and students extremely welcoming. The food is outstanding and excellent value for a training restaurant. It is well worth a visit as I am sure you will be tempted to return.

I have visited the Gallery restaurant on a number of occasions, with friends and also work colleagues. On each occasion I have been extremely impressed with both the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The students are an absolute credit to the college. They work unbelievably hard to create a very pleasant and welcoming environment and the food is superb. It is hard to believe that food of this standard is created, presented and served by students rather than professional chefs and the value for money is incredible. I would recommend visiting the Gallery restaurant to anyone and I look forward to attending a Fine Dining evening in the near future.

I have been fortunate to dine at The Gallery Restaurant on several occasions and it truly is a wonderful experience. The students are all studying at the College and the service is exceptional from arrival to leaving. The food is delicious - the presentation and flavours are what you might expect from a 4* dining experience. Well done New College Stamford and it's students, I will certainly be back very soon.

Having visited for the last 2 years, once a month i could highly recommend this resaurant. The food and service alike is amazing. Both lunchtime and evening meals should not be missed by anyone and the cost is so reasonable. Lokking forward to Februarys evening menu.

This may be a college restaurant but the staff and students ensure that the experience is truly professional. If these are the restaurant staff and chefs of the future there will be a lot of lucky diners out there.

The service from the staff and front of house is excellent - very happy professional people! As for the food - it is excellent and definitely good value for money. I would and have highly recommend to all to give it a try.

I recently took my nan to the Gallery restaurant for a spot of birthday lunch. She was absolutely delighted with the quality of the food and service provided by the staff and students. The restaurant is beautiful and light with attentive staff. The food is presented to a very high standard and is excellent value for money. The restaurant also has a shop which sells treats made by the students. I purchased a coconut tart to take home for later and enjoyed every last spoonful. Would highly recommend the restaurant and the shop.

My lunchtime dining experience at the Gallery Restaurant was very pleasant and, most important of all; the food and service were excellent. My main course of Mushroom Risotto was presented well, tasted great and had just the right amount on the plate. I regretted not ordering a desert as my colleagues had, as they looked amazing!

I have had the pleasure of dining at The Gallery on two occasions (so far) and have been absolutely bowled over by the quality of the food. As a coeliac, I require gluten free meals and on both occasions have had my menu adapted superbly. Quite often when I eat out, I miss out on some of the nicest aspects of a meal, but not at The Gallery. With a bit of notice to the chefs, they will happily accommodate my requirements. I most recently visited on Burn's Night and had a lovely meal. I even tried haggis for the first time in my life; it helped that it was presented so well and didn't look like a traditional haggis! Every one of the seven courses was prepared and presented with care and served by highly attentive and friendly waiting staff. The students deserve to be highly commended for their service and food. For £20.00 per head for a 7-course fine dining menu, it is faultless! I will definitely be returning.

I visited the Gallery restaurant for the first time recently, for one of their very well-regarded Fine Dining experiences. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and the tables are beautifully set, with thick linen tablecloths and sparkling glassware. The food was delicious. From the first beautifully-presented plate to the very last. The students and staff were very attentive and the service was first class. I will definitely be visiting again.

Having enjoyed lunch at the restaurant a few times and seen the evening menus, I had very high hopes for our ‘fine dining’ evening experience. That is until I realised I’d booked us for the ‘Burns Night’ menu and all three of us were, to say the least, wary of the haggis course!But it was all incredible. The highest quality ingredients, beautiful presentation, delicious combinations of flavour and excellent service. We somehow worked our way through seven courses and we cleared our plates every time. Each dish was sublime, with my personal favourite being the ginger ice cream, or maybe the Cullen Skink, although the Dundee cake was gorgeous too…..We also had a bottle of Chardonnay – only the house white but very good. £25 a head all in, we will absolutely be back.
