Party of three, excellent main and dessert, prompt service. Rated atmosphere as a 4 as it was a Sunday evening and rather quiet.

Gotta say hand made chips are the future. What a nice little pub we'll done.

5 of us went for a meal on a Wednesday night not knowing it was quiz night, was absolutely brilliant from the outset. Highly recommend you too visit anytime soon. Will be going back next time in the area, its a 300mile drive to get there so it's not something we can do often.

Stopped here one lunchtime on our way to north Essex. The food was freshly cooked and excellent value. Being the only people there it's difficult to measure the atmosphere

my daughterbrought me here with her mother-in-law& her mother so 3 generations of us for mothers day,we had never been before & the food was delicious couldnt fault it definitley be back the only thing that spoilt it was the karoke singer they had was far too loud couldnt hear myself talk but definitley be back.

Came here for Mother’s Day lunch, unfortunately it wasn’t the best. The food was nice but the service lets it down. Landlord is very stern, waitresses don’t have any personality. No wine list just told red or white and to go up to the bar to see what one you wanted. Chicken supreme which I’d expect to be chicken in a cream sauce is just chicken on the bone (no sauce). We came before and it wasn’t the best but we thought we would give it another go as it had just been taken over the first time we came. Also run out of desserts we wanted which is annoying as you’d think they would make sure they had enough of everything as we booked it weeks before. Let’s put it this was we will not be returning.

Came here for my mum's 83rd birthday there were 10 of us for Sunday lunch. Booked 3 weeks in advance. No deposit required. A very positive experience from the time of booking through to leaving the pub. A nice Sunday roast had by all. Starters and puddings were generous sized, the main could have been a bit bigger for some but was enough for me. The weight staff were friendly and helpful and the meal was good value for money, although the choice of beers at the bar was limited as they ran out of at least one type and there were some substitutions made to the menu which suggests a lack of planning by the staff in charge of stock control. The pub was not very busy and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere so we were not rushed along and had a lovely afternoon to celebrate with mum. Despite the small hiccups still feel they deserve 5 stars.

Went for the Sunday Roast, and was most certainly not disappointed, The portion size was perfect, Tender and tasty Roast Beef, great vegetables and gravy, with cauliflower cheese on the side at no extra cost, Very friendly staff, in my option one of the best roast dinners in the area at very reasonable prices

Went for a meal for the first time for a friend's birthday, the food was excellent as was the sevice, it was busy for a Tuesday lunch time so had nice atmosphere.

This has to be the worst Christmas dinner I have ever had, frozen veg was all soggy and roast potatoes were like bullets, the meat was vacuum packed and the fruit on dessert was like mush after defrosting, I will never set foot in there again, disaster

Wow what can I say. Me and my other half come here for dinner. All the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, the owner mark recommended ribs well my other half said they were the best ribs he has ever had! (And he has had a lot) All the food was brilliant and not one bad word to say! I will be coming back and bringing all the family! If you are thinking of going here then please do you will not regret it!

Took my parents here for pie & mash. Both parents being Londoners were really impressed. I opted for the mussels and I can truly say the best I’ve ever eaten. Would we go back ….. definitely 👍🏽

First time at this pub and very disappointed Greek salad had no olives and no olive oil and very pricey for what we had no atmosphere and service not great we won’t be going back unfortunately

Specially went in for the game pie but had sold out..Had the burger & chips instead which was really nice..Hopefully I’ll be able to get my pie next time.. Under new management & still great staff. Just had the monthly pie mash & liquor & I’ve got to say we all loved it definitely recommended.

Nice pleasant village pub with good beer

Three of us went for lunch on 28th March. We were greeted by friendly staff, asked what drinks we would like and invited to choose which table we preferred to sit at. There was a good choice of starters available and despite myself being wary of coarse Pate we all ordered the Farmhouse Pate which was served with granary bread, butter and sweet pickle. At the end of the course there remained nothing left on any of our plates and I am converted to coarse pate, needless to say it was excellent. For mains two of us chose Ham egg and chips and the other chicken Caeser salad. The ham came in thick slices and the eggs were slightly dippy just as we like them. Our friend told us the salad was lovely too For dessert we all ordered strawberry and cream cheesecake, it was just as decadent as it sounds and probably the best cheesecake I have ever eaten. The three of us left, perfectly full, happy with the whole meal, the service and for such good value. We most definitely will be returning.

Being honest, the pub area as we first walked in was very empty and plain, but I can say the restaurant area was a much nicer area to relax and sit, although the meal was acceptable for all three of us we felt the menu was a bit limited and lacked flair as it was all based around simple food options maybe a chefs special board would life the food offer and consequently make the pub a bit busier

We have been to this restaurant several times over the last eighteen months after we found it whilst on one of our walks. The food has always been good both in quality and quantity, the staff always friendly and helpful.

We booked up for a Christmas meal for 8, they were unable to deliver. Had to settle fir the usual Fusilier menu. They apologise, but whe you go out for a Turkey dinner, and end up having fish and chips it is not the same. .

Was booked in for eight people for christmas dinner was told prices 2coarse or 3 coarse.when we arrived they said they weren't doing Christmas dinner but produced a very dull menu did give two bottles of wine.wasant the point couple of group live on their own that was gonna be her only Christmas dinner the waitress tried very hard to. Hard very false wont be going back I had seasonal burger cold hard turkey 2 underdone sausages under cooked bacon whole meal was hard tastless £52 for 2 people very very poor wont be returning

Coming back from Colchester fancied a meal, it’s off the main road but worth checking it out,Lovely place and the person that served us was fantastic, so friendly and made a lovely Irish coffee, the food was good with good portions and very reasonable prices, I will definitely be returning and would recommend paying them a visit

Came into the restaurant with my dad, brother and nephew, had the trio roast, easiest one of the best roasts I ever had, also had a chocolate fudge cake for dessert, that was superb as well, lovely looking from the inside and beautiful outside, very friendly staff, couldn’t fault it one bit and would highly recommend.

Another great meal at the fusiliers, we visit often food is always great especially the Sunday roast, all cooked fresh ,desserts are made on the premises and really nice, staff are always friendly and prompt with service even the dogs are welcome 100% worth a visit well done keep up the good work

Plenty of good food at a good price,

We love the Fusilier at Great Bentley as it never fails us on all fronts. Food is amazing (thank you Molly and kitchen brigade) and front of house great service (thank you Abi and team). We returned for yet another Sunday family lunch and splurged out on 3 courses. The quality of the food is fantastic and super tasty. The portions are really generous so wear your eating pants!!! Great choice of wine and drinks and they do not overly mark them up which means you can have more! We look forward to visiting again soon and spending yet another Christmas Day lunch on Christmas Day this year. Thanks Abi, Molly and Everyone at the Fusilier:)

First meal here. Had the gammon, egg, chips and peas. Beautifully cooked. The restaurant was not busy, plenty of room.

We went for a meal to celebrate our anniversary and decided on here as it always looks lovely however I was disappointed. The service was acceptable not super friendly but also not unfriendly. I had a roast turkey which I forced myself to eat half my plate seen as I had paid for it but it tastes like yesterday's dinner reheated. Stale and dry Yorkshire puddings. Disappointing hard Potatoes. Cheap tasting slices of meat. I wish we had just gone to a Toby or somewhere like that which would have been much cheaper price for a much nicer meal. My partner had chicken strips which were fine to eat but for almost £13 it was pricy for a regular sized meal that tasted like something you'd buy from a supermarket chips included. I'm not one to cause a fuss so I didn't want to complain in there as it's the food they serve so nothing they could of done but I just left disappointed and wasted my money and put a downer on our day.

The lack of vegetarian choices was very disappointing. Vegetarian burger or a margarita pizza, have you not heard of plant based protein alternatives? Really guys this 2022, you've got to try harder! My companions were not too impressed with the lamb shank either. Weatherspoons quality at 3 times the price. Definitely won't go back.

Only the second visit . First was good , but yesterday was very good . We had starters, which were very tasty , but a little filling. My friend and I , both opted for the pie . Served with a large assortment of vegetables , all freshly prepared . Delicious pastry , filling and sauce/ gravy . The service was excellent . Although it was quiet .

Christmas dinner here was 10/10!

It's been at least 10 years since I last visited this pub. I can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat there, though the menu on the blackboard looked good. The bar, however, was very comfortable and the bar staff were welcoming and friendly. Hopefully, the management will consider getting a decent guest real ale in on occasions. This pub used to have an excellent CAMRA entry, but that was a while ago. That said, we still enjoyed ourselves.

First time we had been, friends had been there the week before and really recommended it. Lovely home made food and amazing home made desserts, dont go if you are on a diet! Not a great choice for vegetarians, but they do great homemade pizzas which my mum whos a vegetarian really enjoyed.

Revisited on the first day of opening up from lockdown 3.0. We were so surprised as we were the only table occupied for lunchtime food, however the lack of atmosphere didnt spoil our visit, as the homemade steak pie and the fish & chips were fantastic ! Thoroughly recommend this hidden away gem in Aingers Green !
