We celebrated my brother's birthday here today, the owner was sound and explained the menu and thinking behind it, was a different but a good experience as we were expecting mixed grills etc like Sheepy in Leeds. Funky Indian doesn't serve traditional currys (dopiaza, bhuna, jalftezi) but that's what they're trying to educate the majority of Indian food lovers that think going to an Indian must include currys. Love the fact it's not halal. Food was very good and filling, tried a variety of different offerings as there were 11 of us and the cost was around £100 between us all and the portions are very generous. The 3 ltr cocktails are banging.......Will be back again without a doubt.

5* all around, Food - massive portions and taste great, really fair prices Drinks - some fantastic deals through the week, coctails, wine beers etc. Vibe - funktastic Staff - friendly and really attentive Also dogs allowed outside! 🩷🐕 Can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back

Hats off to the owner and the staff. Best food I've ever had. They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place. Been there at least 50 times since they opened and always looking forward to come back.

Been here 4-5 times travelling from Barnsley, absolutely stunning food. Great selection of drinks, and a really great atmosphere to chill out with friends. You will never leave here hungry

What a place. The owner was fantastic greeted us and was exceptional with us all the time. The other waitress was fantastic aswell. The food was superb the meat was unreal and soo much flavour and so tender. The portions was huge the rest of it will last me a week 😂😂. The atmosphere in the place was fantastic nice vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Would highly highly. Recommend this place to anyone.

Where do I start x mixed grill was terrible. Cold in the middle. I had the poops for days and had to take time off work. Then naan was soggy. This is a place for non Asians. Those that don’t know better. There’s a take away around the corner which serves average food but better than this place. I was I’ll after this and the main meal was just as bad if not worse. It was like diarrhoea with some chilli’s thrown in. Dark brown curry like in the mornings when you splatter the toilets. Horrible. Ppl. Go to Lyceum bar and grill, international Bradford, Sheesh mahal sat Westgate Bradford. But not here please. This place is the worst curry I have ever experienced and I’m Indian. I know home cooking.

Graet food, warm welcome, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Be warned you need a big appetite to go for the nanizza

Totally different experience from what you would expect. You do not get s curry as most if us know it but get the flavours of curry in the form if a nan pizza or wrap. Started were chicken tikka and tandoori paneer, which were amazing. We also ordered a makhanizza to share. Be warned, one if these will easily feed 4 people. Was delicious and only thing offputting was too many chops and a soggy nan. You had to dig through half a ton if chips to get to the meat and paneer. Discovered masala mayonnaise, what a delight, who knew? Decor lovely and different and you are greeted with a warm welcome. Definitely worth a try

I've had dinner delivered a few times from the Funky Indian and have always enjoyed it. It's good quality food and care is taken in the presentation, packaging and delivery. My personal favourite is the Panjabi salad!

We had an amazing first experience here at the weekend, so good in fact that I’m booking again to take the Mrs in two weeks time. The food was incredible and the service couldn’t have been better. 1000000% worth the visit, there was 15 of us and everyone was amazed with their food and the evening as a whole. 10/10 👍🙏

We came on Thursday for my 40th. The owner was extremely welcoming and talked us throigh the menu and what deals were on. He offered recommendations on what was good and would cater our tastes. Its a lovely quirkly little place and we were all so impressed. All we've done since is rave on about how good it was and arranging to come again. The food was absolutely gorgeous... the meat was really tender and well cooked too. The amount of food blew my mind. We were full to busting and had some left over to bring home. Such good value for money! I will be back and I can't wait! 😋😋 we've definitely been funkd! 🤪

One of the best brunches around! We go at least once a month as the cocktails are amazing! Some of the best we have had: especially the White Russian! Great food and music too! Would highly recommend (and often do).

Staff was rude and I felt they had a issue with me personally and not the people around me. Made me feel super uncomfortable and was expensive for what it was. Food was average at best. Glass was little dirty asked for another one. Got a dirty look. But hey. Won't be goin again. And don't recommend it.

What a gem in Leeds. Finally a restaurant offering authentic non-halal food. This is the only place I know where this is being done - bravo to the team. I will be coming back again and again.

Went last night with some friends, fantastic food, great host and really enjoyable experience. The beast is defiantly a challenge.

First time eating from here after passing a few times. Ordered take out which arrived quickly. One item I selected on the menu wasn't available but they kindly exchanged this for something else. Everything was tasty and the flavours were good. Portions are very generous which is always welcome. Would order again or hopefully visit to dine-in when the opportunity presents.

Ordered through Just Eat, when the food arrived i tried the £5 sauce I'd ordered and it was so salty it was completely inedible (it tasted like liquid salt) I phoned the restaurant straight away and trying to be nice told them there was something wrong with it and they needed to change it before they sent more out, I then started to eat the main meal and the chips were again so overwhelmingly seasoned it ruined the whole dish not that the dry chicken and cheap meat was anything to look forward to anyway. The other dish was ok but not anywhere near worth the prices. I wouldn't of left a bad review if they had refunded the two awful dishes they sent me (less than half the price of the order) but they refused to and I was told that the food was just not to my taste, not sure if anyone in the world enjoys the equivalent of eating spoonfuls of salt but I could be wrong.

Ordered the butter chicken loaded chips, but 1 get one free, couldn’t believe the portion size- way bigger then expected! Would have preferred the cheese a little more melted but other than that it was super tasty and the chicken was lovely!

My partner had been wanting to attend the restaurant for as long as I can remember and I’m so pleased we final found the time to attend. The venue is immaculately presented and our host/owner was excellent as he explained the background of the restaurant and the unique and quintessential service he was honoured to deliver. He talked us through the menu and prevented us from over ordering at a personal expense to himself. We ended up sharing a main and a desert and still came away full. The food was excellent, the host a true gent, the cost far lower than expected. Having only sampled two items on the menu, we’ll definitely return for more. As always, the company could’ve been better.

Just had a takeaway, really nice food. Had the mo fo kebab in my opinion easily enough for two people at least. Also we got 50% off on kebabs which was a bonus. We will go back.

We were greeted by a pleasant waiter/barman. Other than that the funky Indian food did nothing for me. 1. No complementary snacks 2. Soggy salad lacking any flavour 3. 1 hour wait for main. 4. The Maharajah veg share was burnt (I could not cut the naan base). It was dry, lacked sauce. It was a big plate of chips on a burnt naan with a mixture of curry flavours which after 2 minutes all stuck together. 5. Frozen ready made chips? 6. £25 for a big plate of chips + naan! If you like indian food and atmosphere, don't go to the Funky Indian. The food has no finesse, the atmosphere is like a club bar.

If you like wasting your money and time this may suite you . Food is below standard and cold . Waiting times to be served is very long . I won't ever take family in there again gone downhill very quickly. The owner doesn't look after his staff very well seemed sheepish when around him .

We love the food here, it never disappoints. We have ordered takeaway plenty of times, but nothing beats getting it freshly served in the restaurant, with great service. Always appreciate the friendly vibes and attentiveness of the staff. The portions are massive and the food is excellent. There are still plenty of things on the menu we have yet to try, alongside a good selection of drinks. The Mo Fo is my favourite, but have never managed to finish in one sitting yet.

We went for the bottomless brunch, fantastic. The sharing Thali is great as you get to try lots of different dishes, drinks regularly delivered. Super friendly staff, we will be back.

It is such a great restaurant. We visited on Sunday for a family lunch the day after my cousin's wedding (we were visiting from Scotland). Service was brilliant, food was incredible and the wine was lovely. I've never had food like it before. Owner was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Would definitely visit again 👍

We went in for drinks on Friday we had the cocktails in the big 3 litre towers wow they was amazing we also ended up ordering food aswell which we wasn't intending to but it smelt so good and we wasn't disappointed either it tasted as good as it smells absolutely outstanding the wife doesn't eat anything thats got the slightest bit of spice in it but she certainly enjoyed the meatballs and masala chips we will definitely be booking to go again great atmosphere and the staff are excellent very friendly and go above and beyond for customers keep up the excellent work see you again soon 😀

Came as a family, we were the only table in on a Sunday night (6pm ish). The service was friendly but very slow. Has samosas to start which were burnt, the colourful poppudom type snack was nice though. After had the 241 kebab on naan. Very plentiful with lots of chicken but possibly the worst restaurant meal I've had. The chicken was flavourless and it was as though it had been cooked in its juices which were then poured over the nan making it wet underneath. Edges of the naan were dry, sort of like a poor supermarket, although I'm confident it wasn't. Will not visit again

Came from Dawlish to watch the Ashes cricket. The food and service was excellent, great different testes and plenty of food and not expensive at all. Definitely would go again if we come up here again.

Went on a Saturday afternoon for few drinks. The atmosphere was really nice. The owner & staff were really friendly. The cocktails they had on offer were really good. We went for the 3litres for £25 &it was really nice. We got some snacks for the kids which they thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely visit again .

Never been to an Indian like it, it is funky! And the food is incredible, really tasty, large portions and a real twist on traditional Indian dishes. We are here from Australia and will definitely make a trip back up here when we are next in the UK!

Food was absolutely amazing!! Clearly fresh produce & so incredibly tasty. Attended during happy hour (added bonus!) with a party of 8 for a leaving do, the leaver receiving a complimentary slice of cheesecake when management overheard our reason for visiting!! Just had a v good, tasty and filling meal. Reasonable price for the portion. Nice outdoor seating area that catches the evening sun. Staff and music were upbeat. I recommend.

What a fabulous little restaurant. It was our first visit here, mid week to use our Taste Card. The owner was really attentive and explained that the portions are large enough for us to order 2 meals between the 3 of us and get the most out of our Taste Card savings! The food was really tasty, nothing like a curry or anything I’ve had before. A really different eating experience.We had 2 starter and 2 mains between 2 adults and a 15yr old and we didn’t even manage to eat it all ! However the owner packed it up and we took it home! Really lovely setting and we will 100% be back.

Definitely gone down hill. Had the beastizza before and was spot on but unfortunately had it tonight and it was very disappointing, literally 4 bits of dried chicken and an absolute mountain of chips that were over spiced, nothing else on the pizza as advertised . Had a side order of chilli chicken that was so tough and inedible. It’s gone from a good idea selling great food to selling the cheapest food to get as much profit from you. Sorry I will not use again.

Absoulutely amazing experience at the funky Indian. the owner and waiter were both so friendly, really attentive and chatty. service was really good. the food was nothing like I've ever eaten before. it was delicious and really unique - nothing like a typical indian. the menu had so many options it was difficult to choose! portion sizes were massive which is always good. I had the aloo tiki naan'izza. the naan was to die for. really fluffy and light. the filling was amazing!! mocktails also really tasty. the only thing that could have made it better is if the music was slightly quieter as it was a bit loud. but overall, an 11/10! will definitely be returning

One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at! The food was unreal, huge portion sizes and fast and friendly service. We had two of the naan’ izzas which fed 4 of us but could definitely feed up to 6/8. The restaurant itself is lovely and a very cool and inviting atmosphere and a lovely host jaspal who made us feel very welcome and gave us amazing service! We will definitely be back! 😊

Would highly recommend. We were so glad we hadn't eaten all day as we shared the Mo Fo Kebab which was fab. Lovely fresh food with a funky twist - this was delicious - lamb kebab, chilli paneer, chicken tikka, chicken tandoori, masala beef meatballs and masala chips - who could ask for more!

Went on Friday night for the first time, cannot rave enough about this place, excellent customer service, we was greeted by the owner himself who told us the story/concept behind the funky Indian, lovely guy, great character, very honest and genuine man. He recommend some dishes and the food was WOW! We ordered some starters the beast'izza, not 1 bit of grease, start to finish, beautiful. It's nice to go to a restaurant and have a completely unique menu to explore. The food had fantastic presentation and you can tell the food was made with care. The food, customer service and atmosphere was faultless. We will certainly be back, we can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

I travelled here from Middlesbrough after being disappointed with the service I received in your previous restaurant in Sunderland and thought I would give you another chance. Nothing about this restaurant was good, the food was bland and greasy, the wait time to get served was atrocious and I swear the chips are a cheap frozen brand which is not acceptable for the price. I don’t understand your concept… you’re trying to be different then doing a bad job at it and holding onto the failed concept for a long period of time, I respect that being different can work out for most restaurants but yours is atrocious. Sure, a small amount of people may enjoy your fantasy but the majority obviously don’t as your restaurant is always lacking customers and you need a reality check. There’s a reason why your restaurant is nearly always empty, the food and service is lacklustre. After a bit of research I found that your Sunderland restaurant failed as well and there was an incident with one of your chefs which I will not go into, but a quick Google search will explain this better than me. Sometimes going back to a simple Indian restaurant style is the way to go and not these gimmicks that you’ve been keen on for years, I am 100% certain this restaurant will fail as well like the previous two. Sometimes it’s time to move on, I hope you finally find the success that you desperately crave.

Decided to buy a good to go magic bag before I booked a table for the full menu. At one of the most expensive grab bags on the app I was hoping for a variety. Unfortunately for the amount I spent I could of paid for a fresh full meal. Hope they consider lowering the prices of food that could potentially be wasted in the grab bags and use it as a promotional tool to entice new business in

Been a few times , food is good just disappointed with ordering system we were told to order our drinks at that bar and order our food on an app or at bar. Not for me I'm afraid if I wanted to order by an app I would go to Wethespoons. Beware of final bill as well they didn't deduct the £5 per person deposit

We attended on Saturday, a group of 4 of us for bottomless. We’ve tried funky Indian before for a takeaway which was brilliant so we was excited for bottomless. The owner & staff are amazing, and you've got a little gem of a waitress. I can honestly say, it’s the best bottomless we’ve been to both for food and drink.. cocktails are amazing with a great selection and food was beautiful. Highly recommended & we will be defiantly back. Thanks for lovely evening 😁

Very friendly and welcoming staff, mofo munch box was enough to serve me and my friend, chicken tikka was beautiful & the meatballs were very tender and cooked perfectly. Everything else was full of flavour but not to my liking, will be back to try something else!

Just read the news of how friendly the owner and staff were to an autistic child. As a father myself who has a child who is autistic I am very happy that they have been amazing. We need more restaurants to follow this approach.

A had a fantastic birthday meal. We didn't book. (Our fault as we were supposed to be there for 4 ish without booking) and they were super busy with bookings, but they went out of their way to accommodate us (6 people)- last minute as sister had come down from Glasgow. Fast service and food with a great variety of flavours. Sauces are brilliant. Paneer however was cold and hard. Small and intimate space, so good for a cosy meal. If you go be sure to try the masala chips and keema nachos!

I'm afraid this place doesn't do it for me. The meal was mostly chips and not much else. The staff are friendly and helpful, the drinks were ok, but the whole experience was over priced and didn't meet my expectations.

First visit tonight and sorry to say service was slow. Got seated at a table but no one came for 15 minutes ask if we was ok and to ask if we ready to order our food or drinks. However, the food was amazing, piping hot and arrived quickly! The portions were large enough for 2 people to share! We couldn’t finish all of the food and ending up asking for the leftovers to be boxed up! If you looking for a traditional curry house then look elsewhere because this isn’t one! Great food but service could be better. Jaz - don’t take what I said to heart, will be back again!

Lovely food great atmosphere will definitely be going again

Good service and a nice environment. Unfortunately many of the beers / ciders on the menu had been discontinued. The starter was nice but enough food for a main meal really - we barely touched the naan’izza. Looking at some other reviews, customers giving 3* or lower reviews have been told that they don’t understand the USP and need to do some research. Please put up some up to date drinks menus and information about portion size on your website!
