After spending a week away from home, we decided that when we got back, we would have some fish and chips from this normally ok chippy. OMG, the fish was awful. Apart from being almost non existent, the batter was like concrete. I wasn't overly hungry, so I just had a piece of fish, and 3 of us shared the portion of chips. Just as well I wasn't hungry, as most of my fish and batter was inedible. As this was late in the evening, and the chippy closes at 8pm, I would have gone back with it, it was that bad. Concrete batter, old hard and tiny bit of fish, which was running with oil, not nice. I wouldn't recommend anyone use this place in future, I would sooner drive further to get the quality I want.

Not been to Cleethorpes for years, fancied some fish and chips and tried to find the chippie I had previously used. While hunting I came across The Fryer. Just caught them before closing at 2.30, and the staff were kind enough to cook me fresh fish even staying open late to do so. I'm so glad they did, not only was it super value - small haddock and chips 3.50 !!!! it was delicious, great quality fish, fresh skin on, nice white flesh tasted fabulous. Chips were also of great quality and quantity. if this was local I would be here every week... an great excuse for fish day Friday !

What a load of tosh the other review is. Found this chip shop by accident whilst on holiday. Lovely couple running it and all fish cooked to order. After trying possibly ALL the chip shops in Derby (LOTS) I have to say this is very close to being at the top of the list. Fish was absolutely gorgeous and so fresh, chips likewise. What I could not believe however was the price, a bargain. Large haddock was £4 and the chips £1.40 a total of £5.40 each. At home prior to going away an identical size fish was £5.10 and chips £1.80= £6.90. these have since gone up to £5.50 and £2=£7.50. It is such a pity we live 100 miles away. Please give them a try

Web-pages for The Fryer show this business being open Fridays, the day of my wife's visit, for business, at 11:30 AM to 8 PM. Entering the premises at 2:35 PM, she was informed that they were closing and would not be serving any more fish and chips. However, they did offer a sausage and chips, which to my wife's regret, were paid for, as she was hungry and did not feel like travelling further, to find something more suitable. On reaching home the chips were found to be adequate and of a reasonable portion. However, the 'sausage' was eaten and digested with much effort, to sate her hunger pains and to not waste the cost of £2.75 p. The 'sausage' was pale white in colour and lacked both taste and texture. How anyone has the gall to sell such poor quality products, just beggars belief. It's embarrassing to find such imitations, of what Lincolnshire can produce well, being sold locally as food!

I went yesterday with my two sons and we were pleased to see it wasn't very busy.i ordered 2 fish and chips and peas which for 15 pounds each i did expect it to be a bigger portion but it certainly wasn't worth the money.my youngest son ordered a pizza costing 14 pounds again very expensive very over cooked and only just warm.we waited 55 minutes for our food my youngest son who is autistic was getting very bored to say the least.after 40 minutes of no food i asked the young girl at the bar how long would it be? She was very sullen and not friendly at all the other staff were nice especially the young lad who finally brought our food anyway she said its frying now and 15 minutes later it arrived.i paid £55 for 2 fish and chips and a pizza plus a glass of coke glass of lemonade and a pint of lager.i wont be going again far too expensive we waited far too long for our food what wasn't anything to write home about.

Chicken and pepperoni pizza was a generous size and had plenty of chips too. Staff friendly, don't remember asked if our meals were OK though. Good overall though.
