Pear Tree in North East Lincolnshire

Having given The Pear Tree a wide berth for a while following a previously unsatisfactory meal, I was encouraged to return and things have visibly improved. The Staff were friendly & proactive and it was easy to use their online table reservation service. I had the Turkey Roast, which came well cooked and the portion size was adequate. It was possible to order a larger portion meal if you wished. I enjoyed the meal which, given the price, was good value. I will certainly consider a return in the not too distant future. 😊😊😊

What a lovely experience there was 5 adults and 7 children we asked to be near the play area and away from other people dinning as the children can all be a little bit loud and you placed us perfectly out of the way of other dinning guests nothing was to much trouble for the 2 allergies we had all food came swift and all at the same time allowing everyone to eat at the same time all staff cheerful pleasant and polite nothing was to much trouble - thank you we will be returning x

Had the mixed grill, wasn’t too big and not too small. It was hot when it arrived and very tasty. The staff throughout were welcoming and friendly thanks for a lovely meal.

Very poor menu choice, everything was with chips, alternative only sausage & mash nothing else. Tried to order by phone, didn't work so had to go to the bar. Nearly a fight between two parents over children playing outside as we were leaving. Not the best place to visit

Would not recommend the Fish, it was very small, dry and expensive

Went for a family meal and they couldn't do enough to make it a special. The children had their own menu and with an outdoor play area they were happy.

Lovely food and super attentive staff. Only let down by the kids running around screaming and blowing whistles which was not pleasant. We will come back another time though.

Service was excellent, the food was lovely, i had the surf and turf and my partner had the rump steak, both were presented beautifully and tasted perfect, i had the cherry bomb for pudding, well what can i say, i was in heaven, well done.

Tasty food, not too long to wait and was piping hot too. Friendly service with a smile.

Whatever you do, do not walk here from the town centre, it is worth it at the end, but it's one heck of a walk. Pear Tree is like the tardis, does not look very big, but you may need a satnav to find your table if you go for a little walk🫢. Great welcome, a good selection of beers. The food was great, quick service, and hot when it arrived. Conor made us feel very welcome and gave us great advice on how to get back to the centre of town. Will definitely go back, by bus. A number 10 takes you right outside.

The food is always amazing and the beer (neck oil!!!) is superbly looked after. But the real stars are the staff that you employ. Each & every one of them are a credit to the company. Nothing is ever to much trouble for them!

Enjoyed a lovely family meal with 15 of us, they did amazing and fed us all more or less at the same time 😃

The atmosphere was good and the food was delicious. There was a music act on that we weren't aware of and the high volume meant conversation was not possible, so we left earlier than we'd have liked.

This pub is a lovely place to come and have a nice meal, staff always lovely and helpful and the service is always good .

We attended as a group of 4 adults for lunch. We were impressed with the menu selection and the premises were clean and tidy. The staff were efficient and polite and the food arrived quickly. The food was really nice and hot on arrival and we all enjoyed it. We each said that we would like to return in the near future.

Staff always seem to be ‘stand off-ish’ unwelcoming and not very friendly. I always feel like an inconvenience when I go there. Ordered the chicken tikka and it was cold, couldn’t be bothered to dispute this, I just knew I wouldn’t be going back there again.

This establishment once was a very nice place. However myself and the family have recently eaten here for Sunday lunch. It is fair to say, this place has gone down hill massively. The Sunday lunch was pittafull. Over priced, lack of taste, 80% of the lunch was frozen ( vegetables/ cauliflower cheese/) stuffing balls was halved cooked, the beef was tough. We was clutching at straws to find a positive , just a single one. Even the staff felt like they didn't want to be there. Honeslty for £15. Per Sunday dinner The quality & quantity, I wouldn't have given £5 per dinner. Avoid!!!

It was really busy and loud. We prefer quieter. The bar service and bringing out the food was fairly fast, but not really service with a smile. The food was smaller portions than previously had and not as nice. I find it expensive even with 30% off mains. Won't be coming back for a long time.

All good but prefer table order service to customise our order. Cannot customise order via the app. Have to customise at the till which is a problem remembering everyone's order when there's a group. Otherwise our visit was very good. New menu is a winner.

Changed the personal ordering there was 7 of us the food came and we were disappointed had the send 2 roast back was cold and the other said it was warm not hot I always rated the peartree I'm sorry to say won't be going again

The staff where very friendly and helpful, we had a party of 12 and the food all came together and was great quality, when we made a mistake with 1 of our orders they experdited a new order immediately at no charge. Would definetly recommend a visit 10/10 thank you again

It’s really disappointing when you get your hopes up after a few good experiences. Today, unfortunately it was not good. Now having to order at the bar or via an app takes away the real customer service of a restaurant. We waited longer than we should for starters to be cleared, I had to chase someone, Eventually someone came out of the kitchen and assisted with my query. There were 3 members of staff working and no one came to check on us throughout 3 courses! Even when plates were cleared no one asked if everything was ok. Which it was not. The veggie burger was crunchy and cheese sparse along with over cooked cauliflower. I had the burger which had crispy beef patties and a dry over done bun. The sticky toffee pudding was chewy and I got a refund because of this. The apple crumble didn’t have enough custard to cover it. We ate it but it was disappointing. We won’t be returning.

The food was excellent and the young man who served us all evening was very polite, knowledgeable and friendly. We were very happy with all elements of our visit.

Ordered for first time online using the QR code, I wanted a starters as a main but it never gave me an option to request this. However I did let our waiter know and he sorted it for us! Love the grazing menu too. There is a tall thin gentleman who is a waiter there, very efficient, very professional and amazing customer service everytime we visit!

We were a late booking but still managed to get booked in. Shown to a booth table which was nice and told we could order at the bar when ready or using the qr code at the table. Food arrived and it was fabulous, hot and delicious. Was asked if the meal was all OK half way through and if we needed anything.

It's just average pub food. I ordered a burger which when I arrived you could tell it had been under a heat lamp for quite some time, it was dry and starting to shrivel. The server didn't bring my order with the rest of the table and I had to go ask for it. Then my mum ordered a pot of tea that never arrived. This might be a one off and caught them on a bad day so I would give it another try so see if it is better.

Love the Pear Tree , Met up with a friend for lunch , the whole experience was great from start to finish From calling them to book a table , very professional and polite we arrived and our table was waiting for us. We were asked if we wanted a drink and to take our time looking over the menu , very pleasant helpful staff. We both had burgers & I can positively say they were delicious , well presented , I would definitely recommend them , and obviously will be returning for another lovely lunchtime experience thank you.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. When we arrived a member of staff was out in the car park litter picking, which was nice to see. The place itself was clean, warm and welcoming. The food was very good.

When it was pear tree 2 for 1 the food was so much nicer, the visit yesterday was poor the food was warmed up and over cooked - the portion size for kids mighty meals was very poor literally a table spoon of peas and about 10 chips for 8.95 - the plate came hot for a child with Sen needs - thankfully I bought a spare plastic plate. The cheese and leak pie I had was ok but again peas was very small portion - the gravy didnt even cover the pie never mind the chips and pathetic peas - I paid 72 for a meal of 3 adults a 6 year and 1 year old and I think the trawl would have been nicer or even weatherspoons - honestly the food was so much better when it was ran before on 2 for 1 - it was a meal for my adult daughters birthday and thought it would be a lot nicer than prior due to full price meals. I won’t be going back it really was a dissapointing experience - shame as the venue is ok but clearly the food has taken a massive nose dive

The food was ok the drinks I found expensive What I didn't like was kids running all over the restaurant and bar. Staff should ask parents to control their children not just move out of the way. Our server was attentive to and very polite

Been for dinner again today with my parents it's such a lovely pub with truly lovely staff the manager is kind funny and definitely makes you feel welcome top marks because it's truly deserved. The food is also lovely and your not kept waiting which is great too so well done everyone keep up the good work 😀

Delicious and good value food and drink, however, the switch to app / bar ordering instead of table service created an awkward experience, so will try another restaurant next time we go out for a meal.

Visited this establishment on christmas eve for dinner with family. The biggest mistake of our whole trip to the UK!! After being show to our table we sat down on very mucky looking chairs. We immediately noticed the table was slightly sticky to touch and as we looked around noticed everything looked very dirty and worn out. We immediately tried to make reservations elsewhere but due to the time 5pm everywere was fully booked. Decided to bite the bullet ( probably would of been better than the actual food) we ordered some main coarses. Well... I have never seen such dismal looking food, literally everything looked like it had been taken out of a waste bin. The presentation was enough to put you off the meal before you even took a bite. Genuinely terrible tasting food and at prices that seemed to be expensive for the area. We ordered basic food.. Burgers, pasta and nachos but even these dishes proved to difficult for whoever they have employed in the kitchen. Fries that were burnt on the outside and raw I the middle.. how is that even possible ? Burgers that were comprised of a cheap patty in a dry bun.. no salad, no sauce just plain and dry. The food came out one plate at a time, we were a party of 8 so this took 10 minutes before everyone had there food from first to last plate and service with a smile was no were in sight. Even the staff seemed very miserable and spoke very abruptly and sturn voiced. All in all the whole dining experience was horrendous from start to finish. I would not recommend this establishment at all.

Was asked by a staff member walking past, if everything was OK with my meal, I responded that I wished I had gone to The Grosvenor. They carried on walking and asked, from a distance, "Why?" I said that the food was bland. No further follow-up was made. It seemed that every ingredient was the cheapest available frozen product. I enjoyed the fried egg, though.

Interactions I had with staff were great and across 13 of us the food overall for the rest of the party was decent. It loses a star as my steak was one of the worst ones I've ever had. It was actually cooked to how I wanted but the actual piece of meat was overly tough, and just nothing like a good sirloin should be. I raised it with the server who told me it was passed on to the management but I heard nothing else after which was disappointing.

Been here a few times before and meals have always been excellent. Called yesterday 2nd January and the food was awful, whoever was in the kitchen needs the bullet, the rump steak I ordered (a surf and turf) was supposed to be 8oz medium. It turned up about 6oz, dry and well done, chips were awful bits. I won't go again a place is only as good as your last visit.

I and the family come every year on Boxing Day. We love the food, love the staff all super friendly and bring the food out quickly! Love the added touch of the gift bags to keep our little one quiet!! We will be back next year :)

Good mix of regular, specials and children's menus. Didn't feel rushed. Food good, a very family oriented place. Outdoor playground is well maintained. Staff helpful. Only negative is that if you sit adjacent to the indoor children's activity area then it is not very relaxing - lots of loud and lively kids running riot!

Group booking for 8.30 andfelt like we was rushed ask the server to take a photo of our group to be told he didn't have time has he had to do the orders cause the kitchen staff wanted to go home why take bookings for that time if it's inconvenient

Came for a staff christmas meal out booked for 20.30 due to staff finishing work at 19.30. We got out starter then was told to hurry up as kitchen staff want to go home. This is very rude and should never be said to customers. I will not be returning. Don't have pre booked tables if your gonna be rude

We have been going into the pear tree regularly for the last 3 yrs normally after a shopping trip as we live in one of the surrounding villages, and this saves us cooking when we get home, never had a bad meal food has always been spot on staff friendly, food available all day so you are not trying to time your day around a 12 till 2 serving window which many eateries have. I normally have a steak which has never disappointed.

Had yet another meal with friends on Saturday the service as always was first class meal was great and even had time to make friends with my friends small dog Stunning service, great staff, food excellent and the pool table is great and very friendly area THIS IS AN OLD REVIEW FROM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I ASSUME THE OWNER DID NOT LIKE THE CURRENT ONE I POSTED !!!!! Don’t waste your time with this place food is awful

expensive now, especially drinks. The restaurant has been modernised with a nice atmosphere. Was very shocked to see a can of pop for £2.55 though. Food was good quality.

Visited today for festive fare that was pre booked was shown to table and told bar service only for drinks😬prawn cocktail arrived with freezing cold bread and butter and 5 prawns in glass🙄The mains arrived turkey roast looked lovely but on tasting carrots and roasties were covered in pepper we left most of meal and I did mention to waitress who came up with they have to season food now but maybe in future should ask if you want your dinner covered in pepper seasoning first it wasnt like that the past few years we had eaten there.The dessert was only thing I ate all off 😋wont be going again next year☹️

Lovely pub, great staff and great that they have a gluten free menu. Never had any issues with the food. Very disappointed that they have stopped table service. They said use the app but because I am gluten free it means I have to queue to order meals.
