I am GF and Dairy free. We are a family of 4. I asked if there was anything GF on the menu and was told " no we don't do that anymore " . I decided to try chips hoping I will be OK after beef dripping. £25 for fish and chips , 2 kids meals and 1 portion of chips. Locals served before us. We were on holiday. Avoid if you have allergies.

This was an amazing spot for lunch. The batter on the fish was delicate and not greasy and the chips were delicious. Perhaps the best fish and chips meal I've ever eaten.

A colleague and myself popped in at lunchtime and got two spicy haggis suppers. They were delicious and the girl serving was friendly and super nice. Even gave us big boxes so we could eat it better.

Stopped off at The Fry Inn for a fish tea at lunch. We all had the same, set menu if you like, of fish and chips, bread and butter, side salad (we didn't have this), and a pot of tea (or coffee) for £12/pp (July '24). The portion was great, very generous-sized freshly caught fish fillet and plenty chips. Bread, white sliced, and very fresh. Lovely pot of tea. The service was great and the food excellent. There's a restaurant which we were in, sit in, or you can take away. The menu's quite limited but what they do, they do exceptionally well. Definitely worth a visit if you're up that way.

Decided to have a sit in fish supper at this place and really enjoyed it. A little confusing to begin with, as we weren't sure how to sort the seating part out - do we go for a seat or do we wait but after that, everything went swimmingly. The food arrived quickly, large portions and was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful and it is obviously very popular as the sit in area was full.

Had a fish supper and a macaroni pie supper. The pie tasted off and the chips were mostly scraps and the larger ones were mottled with black. My husband’s fish was small and his chips were also substandard. We have also enjoyed tasty food here but tonight’s food has put us off for life !

Dined in just before lunch service ended. Faultless! Perfectly cooked haddock and chips. Crispy non-fatty batter and gorgeous chips.

Arrived here on 11th June half seven at night after driving from aberdeen back to Inverness we took a detour we stopped for some chips noticed they had a seating area and asked if we could sit in as my kids make some mess in my car I didn’t think it would be possible as a young girl was cleaning the area for closing however when asking a young lad he said no problem the staff all young teens bar one lady went over and above it serve us engage with my kids and just generally be nice people, the food was delicious generous portions and they way we were treated was a added bonus I worked in hospitality for 7 years and I no how annoying it can be when you want to close us and customers come in and make a mess. If in the area again will be back, the fish was amazing could tell it was fresh off a local trawler

I like their fish and chips but love their Southern fried chicken! Only trouble is it sells out fast. It's a great chipper but can be expensive. Could also be more generous with their chip portions.

Our haddock was dry and hard, certainly not fresh. Chips were soft and soggy. Wouldn’t go back that’s for sure

A busy Saturday night, nothing unusual. Not a large order 4 adults 2 kids. 15-20min wait. But front the order going from the till to the fryer they had forgotten to read one of the items. So all the remaining orders went back into the heating cabinet (wasn’t even being served fresh). When then took another 12mins to be cooked ( I estimate the fish was 20mins in the heating cabinet). Overall 35mins from ordering to getting the order no apology from staff when I commented on the poor service a shrug of the shoulders and a “tough”. I think this would have been nice but by the time we got ours the batter was soft and stuck to the box. The curry sauce was tasteless, the young lad that packed it was throwing them in the bag sideways / upside down, ripping the bag and not replacing it. Poor staff training and attitude!

Après avoir cherché pendant plus d'une heure où dîner dans Buckie et vu des restaurants qui avaient franchement l'air sales, on s'est dit que l'option du fish and chips était la plus sûre. On a bien mangé, c'était correct.

We sat in for a fish tea. Couple opposite told us of a smaller portion, "the senior's special " and for 4 of us this was adequate. Good well cooked fish supper. No frills just a good plate very competitively priced.

A real treat for a weekend away to Spey Bay to have delicious fresh fish & chips just a short journey away. Worth the wait for the takeaway. Seating available in the restaurant was well subscribed to. The takeaway was amazing and still hot when we got back to camp. Looking forward to going back!

Given the limited options for places to eat in Buckie, we ended up here for dinner after completing our pleasant walk along the Speyside Way, our third evening of fish and chips. Reasonably good value and service, and acceptable food, albeit nothing special.

The food is lovely, the place is clean and tidy but the staff really need some lessons in how to smile and actually how to treat a customer. If the food wasn`t so good no one would visit this place because of the miserable staff.

Now, there are various things you have to take into account when you go to a fish & chip shop. What time is it? (Are you going to get food that has been waiting around for a bit); is it busy (are the fryers going to be rushed & therefore alter their timings); what are you ordering?

This is a good no-frills fish and chips cafe and takeaway. I had a pensioner's portion of fish and chips which was excellent and still a generous helping. Lots of other thing on the menu too. And friendly staff.

Went in for lunch and ordered then sat down and waited, the staff were not overly welcoming and i found a hair in my bread, I was gutted but had no time to mess about putting it back to get another. I will not be back in a hurry. Staff had baseball caps but long hair hanging down and all the ladies with long hair had no hairnet.

If you are in the Buckie area you MUST call in to the 'Fry Inn' for the best Fish and Chips in Britain fried in dripping, the staff and indeed all the locals are ultra friendly and you won't have many minutes to wait for the tasty fare. If you return a second time your face is remembered and you are treated like a local. The Missus and I travel 50 miles each way every Tuesday for a fish dinner there, it's the only place where we will eat Fish and Chips so do yourself a favour and call in to Buckie and The Fry Inn.

Best fish we've had in years. Scampi is very good too. Mushy peas are excellent. Came back the next day for more, so must be good. They even prepped my order while I popped down the street on an errand and had everything ready for me to collect and pay for when I returned.

Ate here today. Quite disappointed with the service. The staff member was quite abrupt, we waited ages to be served. Another couple waited around 20 minutes to be given a menu, the staff member never came back to take an order so they just left. I couldn't blame them for that. The must have been in the shop for around 40 minutes. It wasn't even that busy. The food was hot and edible. Iwas also quite disappointed to see a dog in the shop. I wouldn't have thought that was very hygienic.

Credit must be given to Elgin's Mc-D's as their milkshakes etc menu's have been accessible every time whereas others around the country including Forres, Inverness - give you the famous "temporary out of order". Well-done to the management and staff at Elgin!
