One of the best chippy's I have ever had. Can't drive past the place without stopping in now if I'm in the area. A+ service and food everytime

Unfortunately the worst chips I've ever had in my life. Mushy peas were pretty awful and the jumbo sausage was inedible. Bad day maybe but absolutely rank.

I have noticed recently that we are getting less and less chips with supper's and it seems to be the dregs Think they need to top up the quality of chips with supper's

Good suppers tae be had here. Tis right on the main A96 so very convenient.

Called in on speck, kept waiting 40 minutes while staff served people collecting telephone orders, eventually got served, left to park up and eat, jumbo battered sausage, batter was rubbery and peeled off like one as well, chips good.

Handled the unexpected late arrival of a bus load of football fans brilliantly. Top marks!!

The fish was quite small and the chips were overcooked. Also the salt dispenser must not have been working because it had no seasoning, but very well packaged

An historic stopping place between Aberdeen and Inverness, has changed hands over the years, but is still iconic. Great service, fresh and delicious food. A rare treat. Highly recommended

My god a chippy that can cook chips. Amazing fish and chips. Freshly battered in front of you. And friendly too. I was so ready for this.

Picked up food for my toddler Grandsons as we were heading to Aberdeen. Bought 2 kids meals, one chicken nuggets & cod goujons, both with chips, and a single portion of chicken fillets to myself. The kids portions were tiny-barely a tattie worth o chips and the fish & chicken pieces really small- so tiny, in fact, that the 16 month old ate the lot on his own-lucky for him the 3 yr old had fell asleep en route! My few chicken fillets were also very small, and I was disappointed that they were the cheap breaded ones from the freezer. With the addition of 2 tiny sauce pots at 40p each, a £1.25 bag of maltesers and a bottle of water, the grand total of £18.40 seemed extorionate for what I received. Very disappointed !

Visiting after 8 years and very disappointed. Food very greasy, fish overcooked with no taste. 8 years ago it was I think best chippy between Inverness and Aberdeen, now not recommended. I don’t know if same owner, but definitely doesn’t taste good

Went here for dinner last night, had a fish supper with curry sauce. Didn’t feel right after I ate it but just thought I’d ate too much and it’ll pass. Through the night had the most intense stomach cramps. Woke up with diarrhoea and now constantly being sick. So horrible.

Not too bad, decent steak pies. Bit disappointed with the chips, more than half the portion was just crispy bits of batter. Not good at £2.35 a go.

So disappointed. The staff were pleasant but the scampi was so overcooked it was dark brown in colour. The fish was fresh but very greasy. The portions were tiny. Fish and chips and scampi and chips for over £17. Not worth it!

Been going for years and it's Great place for food only thing I miss is their battered chicken fillets, the breaded one's aren't as good but other than that it's a great chippy.

Friendly enough staff but always seem harassed better of the 2 chipshops in town but not the best in the area in my opinion but hubby and kids like it more than the place I prefer and its local chips good batter a bit thick and stodgy Coleslaw is fantastic though

Had a fish supper last night and first time iv had fish in ages was disgusting, batter wasnt cooked and it was greasy and the chips terrible and stale, u pay well for this so u expect better, normally my chippie from there really good so very disappointed, dont let standards slip with the cost of things folk for a treat and not good they will stop !!

Fast, friendly and efficient service. Chips were excellent and well priced. The home-made coleslaw is the best I've tasted, anywhere. It's worth a visit for coleslaw, alone!

Went on a Saturday evening about 7ish and was amazed how busy it was. I think some people phoned in their order to save waiting as I had to wait 15/20mins for my order although they are quick to take your order and get you into their system. I had a fish supper and my wife had a single haggis and we shared our chips. Fish was lovely and so was the haggis. Chips were crispy on outside and soft in the middle. Prices good too. May phone ahead next time if I can get myself organised☺️

Plenty teenage employees buzzing around but all a bit disorganized. Had to ask to get my order taken as nobody did for the 5 minutes I stood there waiting. Was well worth it though as the fish supper was braw.

The best chip shop for 50 miles in my opion and I go there every week for my fish and chips all the staff are briiant well worth going there always busy I always say if it's busy it's good must have a good manageress there as staff there well trained that's my opion and I've been a chef for 54yrs in total go there u will not be disappointed ever

Fantastic food, friendly service

Caught this place just before they closed. Phoned in our order so not to get that last minute frosty reception, staff were brilliant. Enjoyed. Will stop here again 👍🏻

Had a smoked sausage, my husband had a white pudding and we shared a portion of chips. Nice but the batter wasn't great. Other than that it was hot and tasty

Absolutely hit the spot! Fairly priced & right portion size. Cooked to perfection. Easily one of the top 3 I've had in Scotland.

Our only mistake with booking this establishment was to choose only one night . The building is full of character, interesting top quality furniture, and a real experience. It has it s quirks, such as the sign warning us that it would take up to four minutes for hot water to reach the bath ( not a problem when one knows what to expect ) . The hosts, Vena and Nick could not do enough to facilitate our stay. Our breakfast was beautifully cooked and if staying there I future we would take advantage of the evening meal, particularly going by the aroma the previous evening .

We stopped here after a lovely day out at Cawdor Castle and bought some some great fish and chips at a very reasonable price. We got a family portion of chips for all 4 of us, which was recommended by the lady serving us and great value! Definitely recommend Strathisla for a fish supper to those in the area👏👏👏

Lovely food and great to be offered full or half portion of chips as usually far too many. Great service and warm welcome. And chips fried in beef dripping....and you could tell as they were gorgeous and really crispy.

The food is fresh, the staff are friendly, and, for me the most important, the price is right 💰

A good chip shop with quality above what the prices would suggest. Staff can appear reluctant to take your order when busy. There is always a "weekly special" with around a pound off. On the main road A96 and an economical safe bet.

Absolutely love this chipper & cafe, best chips ever, battered smokie is lovely & my favourite, my daughter loves the red & white puddings. Staff are friendly & great at their job. Love getting my tea from here.

The Strathisla has consistently been a top choice when travelling North or returning South. Great food, great range, well cooked, top service from the staff. Takeaway or sit in and place and staff spotless!

Best chips in the world, only part of a journey on the a96 which is good.

Great selection of the usual items and a fair few speciality options, a local favourite is the macaroni pie, lots to choose from. Friendly and efficient staff, prompt service and you don't get stung with the price! Thoroughly recommended.

A very handy roadside cafe serving delicious fish and chips. They are friendly helpful staff who cook the orders with great efficiency. There is usually some parking space just outside the cafe.

Chips are always greasy but it’s the best out of a bad bunch.

Would have been 5 stars if I wrote this review 15 years ago! . Unfortunately it's a bit hit or miss nowadays and the quality of food is very inconsistent and largely depends on the staff who are on at the time. A good example is the cheeseburger, sometimes the lettuce will be fresh and nice and crispy, more often than not it's lifeless and brown. Too many times I have received a burger with a single leaf of dead lettuce on it, hardly makes you want to come back for more. In the past, a long time ago, this place was very consistent with nicely chopped, green, fresh lettuce on all the burgers, and the chips were chunky and cooked just right. Nowadays the chips are also very hit and miss, sometimes they'll be fine, other times they are dried out, hard and chewy. A fall from grace of times past, I'd say this place is ok in a pinch but definitely doesn't merit its many awards it won in the past, which is a shame.

Excellent Fish and Chips,very popular, eat in and take-away. Large portions at a reasonable price. Parking available. Card payment allowed. Staff very friendly and courteous. Served quite quickly considering how busy it was. Would highly recommend, will be going back.

Ice cream. We went in for a portsoy ice cream as they are the best. My daughter asked for tub of ice cream with hot sauce which is delicious from portsoy shop. The hot sauce (clues in the name) was just a tiny amount of cold stiff sauce circled on top. Staff need to go to portsoy to see how it's done properly. Sauce should have been melted and poured over. Disappointed that I never complained

Lovely freshly made food and nice people

We ordered fish and chips, king rib supper and scampi supper which all tasted great but I am still starving and could go another one! Not enough especially compared to other chip shops. Also £21 I honestly think the scampi was for kids

Stop putting butter on your rolls, even when you ask for no butter you get it regardless. Food has become very mediocre over the past couple of years.

Was working up in Keith for a week and stopped into Strathisla friendly staff got a fish supper steak pie and mozzarella sticks. Only get one fish with the supper it never looked great but it was very tasty same with the steak pie looked like it crap but it was nice overall food never looked great but was very tasty. 25p for a one sachet of sauce a feel is shocking 3/5
