Took long time to find as not well sign posted but when we did get there the Guinness was well worth waiting for. Landlord polite and friendly and pub very clean and outside space was very nice. I used to deliver the beer there 34 year ago and not changed one bit.

Very disappointed with the service we received for a Sunday Lunch. We were a family of four having a Sunday Lunch, three of us ordered the beef and I ordered the pork. The beef was fine served as layers of beef. However, my pork was nothing like the beef and was made up of scrawny bits of fatty meat! it looked like the end of the joint. The landlord offered to replace it straight away. When he returned the meat was a big improvement and I expressed that, I also politely said I was disappointed that they had served me up the first lot of poor quality meat. At this point the landlord decided to argue that they was no difference in the two lots of meat, his attitude is clearly that the customer is not allowed to criticise his food. I couldn't be bothered to argue back and we just finished our food and left. There's no need to have that attitude particularly when something is clearly wrong, none of us is perfect! Also, the bar staff need to learn how to make Aperol Spritz as this was the second occasion they got it wrong. Just Google it!

Popped over to this hidden gem from Chepstow to discover a beautiful country pub with a fabulous Sunday roast, amazing and friendly staff, all set in a relaxed atmosphere.

Revisted this old haunt after about 20 years or so. Hardly changed at all but that is a compliment. Lovely beer garden and a properly poured pint of Guinness.

Lovely pub with great food and atmosphere

This pub is not the easiest to find and you really have to know it exists and how to find it. It is set in a lovely quiet setting and is well appointed. On entering you are met by a long bar to your right and the rest of the pub is dedicated to a seating and eating area. By the time we left the pub was full, so clearly popular. The staff made us feel welcome and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We were here for an early Sunday lunch. I am told the one she chose was tasty. The beef roast came with layers of beef with a large Yorkshire pudding over the top. The veg is served in a separate dish with the gravy in a jug so that you can choose what you want and how my gravy to use. The veg was well cooked not overdone but unfortunately the meat let the dish down. One piece of meat I could not cut at all and some of the other was on the tough side. I did point this out to the landlady, and to her credit, she did offer to replace it, but I had little faith in the quality by this time and so I declined. Such a shame as it is a lovely pub.

A few regulars standing along the bar when we arrived, none of whom were very friendly, neither was the lady behind the bar. Shame as it is meant to be a good pub, but has put me off visiting again. Can't comment on food, although I believe it is meant to be good.

Lovely food and very pleasant pub

Avoid if you are going out as a family. Was warned by someone that they might as well have signs up saying no kids allowed but thought they were exaggerating. Turns out they weren't. Arrived with our 2 kids to a cosy pub with plenty of tables but were immediately directed to the 'family room' (aka a chillier little room out the back by the loos with no atmosphere, 1 table and a high chair). This is not what we're looking for in a pub. Didn't feel welcome at all. We left straight away. Main pub looked lovely if you are in the target market - old people who don't want to be around children - but look elsewhere if want a meal or a drink with your family.

Booked for 6 in advance for my Mothers 85th birthday. Arrived in good time, 2 people at the bar and as we were ordering another 10/12 people came in behind us. They served everyone in the pub before us and after waiting over an hour we're told there was no beef one lot of chicken and 2 lamb. Dessert was just as bad, most options had vanilla ice cream to accompany them but they had none left. It felt like a click of locals, felt uncomfortable like we were intruding. Very poor service, disorganised food not all that, no apology so upset I couldn't speak. Needless to say will not be returning.

My first visit with a long time friend. We were going elsewhere but couldn't get in. My friend said we should go to the Fox. No regrets was well worth the visit. Lovely food. Owner was very friendly and welcoming. Service was delightful and efficient. I have no reservations in highly recommending the Fox

Second visit here and very impressed by the quality and range of food. Two of us had Steak and Ale pie which had the excellent vote. The other two had the tuna steaks which also were rated excellent. A very buzzy pub with a great range of beer and friendly and helpful staff. One suggestion I would like to make is as follows: The bar area was very crowded and the food ordering section at the end had people perched on stools rather blocking and impeding ordering. You had to rather shout over them to order the meals which is not great for either party. Could this small area be kept clear of stools and people ‘propping up the bar’ so that food ordering is easier for both customers and Staff ? This isn’t a complaint we had a super evening of great food and drink, see you soon.

We had barely stepped in the door when we were turfed out by a local because they don't allow dogs! What country pub doesn't allow dogs?! Not very impressed

Had a pint here last year. Friendly staff and good beer. Came for Sunday lunch today. Wow. Really good. Decent portion sizes and very tasty.

Unfortunately food is not always available...bit the ambience and company make up for that.

Another brilliant Sunday roast. Yorkshire puddings “to die for” large, light and so crispy. Followed by delicious home made mixed fruit crumble. Absolutely excellent.

We have lived in Bristol all our lives and never new this little hidden Gem the fox inn was so close to us, we went with our family they put us in our own family room witch was Ideal as we have a 2 year old the food and service was amazing the pub was cosy, just what you would expect from a country pub, it took me back 🥰 Very welcoming thank you 😊

Food excellent. Nothing pretentious. Just what you would expect from a traditional inn. Primarily a cosy pub serving food with a welcoming atmosphere. Will be going back.

The Fox is a rare breed these days. Proper pub with excellent Landlord and a great pint of Bass among other good beers. However, the food isn’t just normal pub grub. It’s exceptional. Give it a try. It’s well worth the diversion from the A38.

Went back to see what the food was like with the new chef and was not disappointed. Had the sea bass on a bed of herby mash with muscles. Very enjoyable.

We were a group of 6 ladies having celebrated a daughter’s wedding the day before. We needed a lovely place to chat, enjoy a Sunday lunch and relax. The Fox didn’t disappoint, in fact it’s the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a pub ever! The meal was superb, the service friendly and efficient. We’ll be back- thank you!

Absolutely love this pub. It’s one of the nicest, friendliest most welcoming pubs I have been too. But no surprise as it’s not a chain- that said the staff make it what it is. It is truly a wonderful place. Food is always fantastic and selection of drinks good. It’s not a local pub for me but it’s always the place I select if we’re thinking of going somewhere nice.

Tucked away in a little village, it's a little oasis. Nice beer garden to the front and nice bar area inside. Friendly atmosphere and good selection of beers. Foods ok too. Well worth a visit.

What a delightful little pub. Roast dinner was excellent followed by a few drinks in the garden. Tranquil and peaceful and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

We just had the best roast Sunday lunch I have eaten in a very long time. The quality was superb and it was a big meal. Both pork and beef roasts were tasty with Yorkshire pudding and superb crackling. Could have had a bit more of the crackling. The fish pie was also very tasty said he teenager we had with us.

A cosy, friendly, local pub, with a great atmosphere where the landlord is very welcoming. The food is also very good, so I recommend booking if you want to eat, as it gets busy!

This is the best Sunday roast that we have ever tasted in Bristol by a mile and they're are some great pubs here. The presentation of the food, the friendly staff and perfectly cooked beef was all dressed with the most stunning red wine gravy and side vegetables with cauliflower cheese as well. This will now be our local pub for Sunday lunch. I cannot recommend this place enough it's incredible. 10 of us , meeting up with family from Portsmouth . The food was excellent ! Clean plates all around .!service again excellent . Quick, efficient and very attentive . . We had a wonderful evening . Their hospitality even extended into the car park afterwards where I managed to ‘beach’ my car onto the garden boarder wooden barriers , as I was ‘boxed’ in . The landlord plus a couple of fellow diners came to the rescue , I could not of done it without them , so grateful . Lovely country pub and garden .

Not a wonderful experience, very disappointed having been recommended by friends, the service was average and just short of rude. The Mussels left me feeling rough and so will not be returning.

Had a buffet style meal after a funeral. could not have been more helpful and accommodating.

Really good local village pub,worth a visit

Went there with friends having heard there was a new chef. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. A busy time (a good sign), so food a little slow to come, but the wine arrived quickly! Enjoyed the meal; had the excellent special (fish) and good full pastry pies. Will visit again.

A very cosy country pub with excellent food. The staff are attentive and friendly. Dogs are not allowed inside, however there is a sitting area outside that can accommodate dog owners. There is free parking as well. I would not hesitate to recommend it!!

We visited The Fox last night for dinner and both the food and service was fantastic! The landlord and barman who greeted us were very friendly and welcoming. The food and service was faultless. We will definitely be coming back.

To begin with, the staff were rude, miserable, not friendly and unhelpful. I had a pint of bitter, in a supposedly real ale pub which was undrinkable. The place wasn’t busy (Now I know why) and we waited nearly an hour for the food, when it finally arrived it was awful. Very greasy, no flavour and obviously made from the cheapest food available. Such a shame as it was such a lovey day visiting the local country park and ended on an awful pub experience.

Dinner tonight at the fox was outstanding. The staff were so friendly rhe how I mate was so lovely and funny. So we have book for a Sunday lunch in 3 weeks time as tgay are fully booked until then. Can't wait to come back. And thank you all for making as all welcome.

Came here for a meal and a couple of pints with my partner. Food tasted like the oil it was cooked in, there was left over food on one of our "clean" forks, and the table was sticky. The pub is ok if you just want to drink but I would not recommend dining here. To top it off, when we were leaving we saw a rat in the car park.

Fabulous meal,served piping hot and outstanding presented. The staff are an absolute delight nothing was too much trouble for them. Certainly one of the best pubs we know. I would highly recommend a vist to see for yourself, we can't wait to go back again...

Awful experience! Food was bland and tasteless and over priced, grubby tables and cutlery, this pub would benifit from a deep clean and a refresh. The pint of bass was good but staff were unhelpful. Wont be returning unless they get their act together! Also...

Just lovely! We have been to the Fox Inn for 25+ years and our visit today was as good as ever. My Club sandwich from the specials board was delightful and the ham, egg and chips my friend had was gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Food was nice, however I came out smelling of food. I thinkvthey need a new extractor fan.

Lovely pub in a picture perfect location! The staff made all 10 of us feel very welcome and the service was great. The menu offered a lovely selection and the food was fantastic, lots of homemade options and excellent presentation. Would definitely return and recommend!

Sunday roast beef was tough, tables were crammed in like sardines, play area gone, atmosphere less than it was before these owners had it. Owner looked like he didn't want to be there and would only look in your direction when the money came out.

Great meal at lunchtime with equally good beer. This pub never fails to impress.

Great place to go for a nice quiet pint, of quality beer.

Beautifully cooked, well presented homemade meals. We had beef lasagne (very tasty) and steak pies ( great homemade pastry and plenty of lean steak) really delicious! Good selection of beers and drinks. Very clean and well maintained pub (and toilets). Kitchen has a 5/5 hygiene rating. Friendly husband and wife owners. Looking forward to our next visit. We can see why it’s so popular and we’ll probably book in advance to make sure we have a table.

What can I say, always a warm welcome! Especially when Dad puts the fire on! 😜

Always such a warm and friendly place to be. We booked for Sunday lunch for 9 people and the team there couldn't have been more courteous and welcoming. They suggested and ensured that there was full availability of what we wanted from the menu by putting pack enough for our choices seems we were dining later at 2pm. They also customised some Sunday lunches for the kids who decided they wanted Mac'n'Cheese in place of a meat choice. All of the food was hot and tasty. And there was a good amount of it too. The service was amazing, the atmosphere warm and cosy with the large log burner stove, and to be fair we could have all sat there quite happily for hours more. Top marks as always.

Nice Pub. Big garden. Now have a chef again, but no food on Monday and Tuesday. Food not badly priced, and fairly generous helpings. Nice to sit on the verandah if it's warm enough!

Phil and Lyn welcomed in a group of 17 for lovely lunch. The perfect beer garden, amazing fresh food and super friendly service. Would highly recommend to any visitors to the area.
