We have just come home after having a Birthday meal. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the staff and had a fabulous time with the most amazing food. The BBQPulled pork loaded fries are to die for. Great atmosphere and a full house(recommend booking)plus the most attentive staff, this place is a hidden treasure and we will be back.

My husband and I celebrated my recent Birthday with tapas and drinks. A lovely, relaxed time, although the restaurant was clearly popular and rapidly filled with other happy diners!

Great little local independent restaurant. We had Vegan tapas, everything was delicious and interesting, different food obviously made my someone who really knows how to cook. Front of house charming, a nice place to spend time, all-round 5* experience.

With my Partner away visiting family for a few days, I offered to treat my Son to dinner here. Both my Partner and I had waxed lyrical to him about the food that we have enjoyed here on previous visits. So-much-so, that my Son had expressed a wish to visit to try some of the plates for himself. My original intention was to make a reservation for lunch on the Saturday this week, when my Son was over here for the day. Sadly, today the restaurant was not open until 18:30, so that was that; and I made our reservation accordingly. The food menu is broken-down into broad-brush sections: ‘Vegan’, ‘Meat’, ‘Fish’, ‘Sides’ and ‘Desserts’ and as we studied them, our soft drinks arrived – a ‘J2O’ for my Son, whereas I had something less calorific; being an excellent ‘Fever-Tree Elderflower Light Tonic’. It was excellent enough to have a second; so I did halfway though my meal. After several minutes deciding my Son ordered a side of ‘Bread and Oil’, and plates of ‘Sautéed Chorizo’ in red wine and honey, ‘Loaded Fries, Pulled BBQ Pork Shoulder’ with chilli, Cheddar and Mozzarella, and ‘Hereford Cross Dry Aged Beef Brisket’ with mustard mash, oyster and maple sauce. I fancied fish, so I ordered the ‘Salmon Fishcake’ with Miso cream cheese and lemon pickled green beans. Then the ‘Loaded Fries’, the ‘Hereford Cross Dry Aged Beef Brisket’ and a side of ‘Sesame and Soy Roasted Tenderstem Broccoli’. We both ate everything that was on our plates and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The salmon fishcake was probably my least favourite, it was a bit bland and the texture was not great; it needed a foil to make the plate more interesting, e.g. crispy veg or salad. Both the ‘Brisket’ and ‘Loaded Fries’ plates were excellent, particularly the ‘Brisket’ which was better than excellent. My Son enjoyed his ‘Chorizo’, and his side of ‘Bread and oil’. My ‘Broccoli’ side was excellent (broccoli is my favourite vegetable and I eat it 4 or 5 times a week). As I hadn’t eaten bread I decided a dessert was due reward, so I enquired (as invited on the menu) about the ‘Desserts of the day’ (note the plural form). There was only one dessert, a ‘Lemon Posset’ with shortbread, dressed with a raspberry and a slice of lemon. I do like Posset and this one was very good. It was mostly a very good meal, that was very much enjoyed. I would say the ‘muzac’ was far-too loud, was not particularly to my taste. Also when the cocktails were being made the liquidizer was incredibly noisy. Service was very pleasant and efficient.

Absolute gem of a place. Lovely atmosphere, tasty freshly cooked tapas and the owner Jack was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Staple Hill's best kept secret. No pretentious frills, just great tasting food in a chilled friendly space. All the tapas we tried were incredibly tasty, served fresh and hot. The cod and asparagus was sublime, just cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and attentive, definitely has a family run feel. Highly recommended.

My friends and I came to JK'S for the first time to celebrate our friends birthday. The service and food were second to none. The food was piping hot and so tasty and the staff were very attentive. We can't wait to go again . Thank you for a lovely evening 🙂

Food was superb, quality and presentation fantastic. Having had the owner greet us made us feel extremely welcomed. Big ups to the bartender mixing awesome cocktails. I would highly recommend visiting here for pre drinks or to set the vibe for a good night out.

We discovered this Staple Hill culinary jewel this week and can't wait to go back! The food was absolutely beautiful and good value, especially with the Tuesday to Thursday deal. It was great to see the vegan choices rivaling the non-vegan in both quality and quantity. The cocktails were similarly delicious. We ate in the rear garden on a sunny evening which had a lovely atmosphere which was complemented by the friendly and attentive service. We can't recommend JK's too highly, you won't be disappointed.

Jack has gone above and beyond to ensure there is nothing but the best atmosphere and ambience in his humble abode. The food was to die for, as are the cocktails. Amazing vegan options. My 7-year old loves the flavours of the food as there were more flavoursome options than spicy. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff….. will come back in the summer when the gardens open as the dog can join us then

Great date night tapas for two!

Nice cosy neighbourhood bar with a good range of food options. Friendly, helpful, attentive staff - without being overbearing at all. All really fairly priced.

Lovely asmosphere. Cocktaisl were superb! We had a bramble and a frozen classic margarita. Stunning! We ordered chorizo, the cauliflower wings, sourdough bread with oil, brisket, and the vegan meatballs. Great vegan selection. Great service. Would definetly go again!

I didn't eat here when I visited with family but I can vouch for the service and atmosphere. All of the service was fantastic and everyone is so friendly. We had a great party!

Realised there are very expensive and food are nice but i noticed some of them were cooked in microwave. Not impressed.

Nice food, good service, good drinks menu and a nice atmosphere. The only downside is the window seats are too close to the tables. If I came again I would request a different table. All in all a good place.

We finally visited JK's on Friday after promising ourselves to go since it's opened and we are so glad we went. Delicious food, great cocktails and very friendly staff. The food was fresh and well prepared, a great choice of veggie options too. Every table was full, we were glad we booked in advance, we can't wait to go back, a great local hidden gem.

We booked JK's based on TripAdvisor reviews, not realising that it was a little way outside Bristol. It was about seven miles from where we were staying in the city centre, which some of the party declared "way too far", though it was eventually agreed that since we live in Jersey anything more than a couple of miles is a marathon to us. And hey, that's what Uber is for. The restaurant is in a residential area in the kind of location where the local chippy might traditionally have been. For all I know it might have been a chippy - what was true is that from the front it looked a bit like a greasy-spoon cafe. Happily, that was most definitely not the case. We were greeted cheerfully and shown to our table. It's a smallish restaurant, with only a few tables, but it was clear we'd been lucky to get a table as it was pretty well occupied. The staff (including Jack, the owner) couldn't have been more helpful, and drinks were forthcoming very quickly. Our party was two veggies and two carnivores, and Jack advised that five dishes per pair would probably be about right - and he was pretty spot on. The menu wasn't super-extensive, but that's a good thing in my book. There were four meat dishes, so we had one of each, then I added a fish dish and the veggies went for things including spiced tofu, spicy cauliflower and loaded fries. With the exception that one person found the cauli a tad spicy (which I didn't mind - meant there was more for me) we polished off the lot in short order, washed down in my case with a couple of glasses of Malbec and in my wife's case a glass of Sav Blanc. JK's turned out to be a really good choice. The location wasn't a problem given the abundance of Ubers, and the initial impression of the look-and-feel from outside was quickly dispelled by the staff and the service. And at about £30 a head we were a very long way from starving or dying of thirst - pretty good value. My verdict, then: first impressions can be wrong, so don't be put off by them. It's a great little place with very decent food and wine.

Excellent tapas bar just off the main high street, offering up a beautiful selection of dishes and cocktails including Bristol’s best Pina colada. The Beef brisket was perfection and the chicken wings were fantastic. Great atmosphere and the staff were absolutely lovely, will definitely be returning soon!

A little gem! I've had both the food and drink here and I can confidently recommend. It's intimate, inviting and a pleasure to be in. The staff are lovely and accomodating , the drinks are beautifully prepared and food is tasty (I recommend the beef brisket). If you haven't had a chance to visit JK's then your missing out.

Consistently tasty plates. Very good service. Is a great option in this part of town. Offers something different to most places in the area. Shall return soon.

Amazing food and Cocktails. Service superb

The food and service was impeccable. All the dishes were of a high quality. Jack (the owner) was very down to earth and attentive. The ambience was an added factor for an intimate dinner. When we’re in Bristol again, this will be our go to for tapas and cocktails.

Our 3rd visit to JK's,and once again completely blown away by the amazing food. Every plate we had was delicious, especially the chowder. Cocktails are fantastic. Jack and the team,couldn't be more friendly and welcoming,made our evening really special.

I went here with a group of friends on the weekend. The service was really friendly and welcoming. The cocktails were tasty and tapas options were creative and flavourful. There is a decent selection of vegan and meat free options to choose from (more than I could order/ eat in 1 sitting). I will definitely be coming back to this great addition to the Staple Hill area.

We had an incredible evening here celebrating our anniversary last night - the food and cocktails were incredible, but the thing that sets JKs apart if the friendly, warm service and personal touches. It was so nice to chat to the owner about his vision for the place and how clearly passionate he is about making it as good as it is. Just go! And we will be back.

Went here a few months ago with a friend and we ate some very tasty food. We ordered all the vegan options which was a decent selection for 2 people. Looking forward to returning in the near future, it's great to have this place in the local area.

Service was great and the venue is nice and lively. Food was delicious and the cocktails were nice but we left thinking it wasn’t £50 a head nice. The menu is quite small which is fine but they had run out of a couple of key dishes early so you’re not then left with a lot of choice.

What an amazing dining experience. Food was outstanding, cocktails are simply the best and service is outstanding. Atmosphere fantastic and have been raving about our visit to everyone. Due to unforeseen sickness at jks the restaurant unfortunately had to close for the afternoon, so we were unable to have our 3pm reservation. However, we received a phonecall that morning apologising that our booking would have to cancelled. Totally understood and was sympathetic to the situation the resturant was in. We were luckily enough, to be in a position to change our reservation time and pushed it back a few hours. Considering the issue with staff absence, the service as always was 5*. The remaining staff obviously all pulled together and provided excellent customer care. The food as expected was fantastic, and cocktails amazing. Always happy to leave a great review as this resturant definitely deserves it. Thankyou Jack for another lovely visit.

We'd booked a table for 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately due to illness, jks were unable to open during the daytime. I received a phonecall from the owner that morning , extremely apologetic and genuinely feeling bad that they'd have no option but to cancel our reservation due to resturant being unable to open. As i had no other plans for the day the offer of a later booking was no problem. As always, the Tapas and cocktails were fantastic. Never had a bad visit here. But, what makes this independent restaurant stand out is how individuals are treated. I didnt receive an email cancelling my booking, but a personal phonecall. An apology was given in advance. An offer of a different seating time was given, and compensation offered. And this is just one of the many great reasons for visiting this restaurant. They care about the customer, the food, the dining experience. Your not just a bum on seat here, your treated as a valued customer/friend.

My Wife and I have known about JKs for a while and decided on an impromptu date night to try it out. Inside was busy, Thursday too..always a good sign. As we had the dog we had to sit on the terrace which is accessible around the back. Beautiful outdoor seating area, plenty of light and the dog was happy. Cocktails flowed nicely and all the food was freshly made/cooked, so with a few missing items because of the above, we didn’t mind at all. Nice touch as Jack served us himself, chatted regularly and to top it off, the food was fantastic. Eating out these days is a lot, costs a lot, and isn’t always doable. But 2 Long Island Iced Teas each, MORE than enough delicious food and brilliant service, well worth the £32 each with a well deserved tip! We will be back and spreading the word. We've been for a date night tonight and can't fault it. Quick service, great atmosphere, lovely refreshing drinks, amazing food.... The beef brisket and gravy is to die for, and the chorizo was so tasty! Highly recommended.

Have been to jks a few times now and had a wonderful experience each time. The food is absolutely delicious, with a very welcome focus on interesting and varied vegan options, but plenty of meat and fish dishes to add in to the mix too. The atmosphere is relaxed and super friendly and there is a good selection on the drinks menu to choose from. It also has a lovely garden. Its a real hidden gem and definitely worth a visit.

Brilliant food, great service, reasonable price. This is like a city centre experience in Staple Hill! Being plant based, the vegan choices are incredible and the home made desserts are amazing. I learnt from last time not to order too many dishes so I had room for dessert lol. Oh and lots of non alcoholic options of drinks, a great place for food with friends, would thoroughly recommend
