The Fox & Hounds Hotel & Restaurant in West Devon

The food and beer/cider choices are great. The food was absolutely delicious. My Venison stew was the best taste I've enjoyed in a pub/restaurant in many years. Truly that good. My wife's belly pork was crispy and juicy in all the right places. Very very good.

A bit run down but good food and a warm welcome.

Lovely pub, with a real fire and a large car park. Great steak & ale pie and real ale, with direct access to the moor, Sunday roast is excellent, Fab ham egg & chips too. Beer garden and bike friendly. Great friendly staff Also has a year round campsite.

2024, Very friendly staff , most helpful, food lovely. Good beer, try there, bitters. 2023, Friendly, place , good pub food at a good price. I've never been disappointed all the times we have stopped there over years when we pop down to wonderful Devon .

Dog friendly, good base for walking, clean basic rooms with good views . Staff very friendly and breakfast was very good.

We always eat there when we stay in Lydford. Friendly staff and the cosy feel of a genuine local. Food is good and available all day. We would like to stay there sometime. Very dog friendly (but unfortunately our dogs are too noisy to add to any dogs already in).

Had just Drinks one day and food the next X3 of us + Dog Friendly pub. Traditional style, probably nothing has changed for 40 years but that’s the charm Food is proper pub grub. Good portions, tasty, well cooked and excellent value.

Great food and great service love coming here when in holiday, and a reasonable price as well

Stopped here on our way home and had a delicious home cooked meal, with fresh vegetables, chips all local produce and the best tasty beef ale pie I've ever had. My hubby had a burger and chips which was also delicious. We we're both full but couldn't resist trying a strawberry pavlova to share also delicious. A nice cosy pub and friendly staff.

Recently had a staff reunion party at the Fox and it was great. Service was brill, food was so tasty and good portion sizes. Great atmosphere. Would definitely return 😃

What a find. Lovely old school hotel/pub/restaurant. We stayed in the campsite behind, lovely views and walks. The bar area really takes you back. Beer was superb, food delicious and the ginger sponge and custard dessert a triumph. Can't wait to return.

BUsy monday night, may have needed another server or bar staff, but hexwasx polite and apologised about the slight delay. 2 beers, well kept. Nice food menu, home made , good quality and served hot. Excellent find.

We camped here for 2 nights to attend a birthday party held in the skittle alley. The campsite was basic but we had an electric pitch and the toilet facilities were clean. We had an evening meal which was amazing and so good. My husband had the venison casserole and he went into raptures over it, he loves venison, and they even gave him a bread roll to mop the gravy up. The staff were lovely and so helpful. The food provided for the party was really good as well. We had a thoroughly great time.

Big comfortable room, extremely silent at night, good food and friendly staff, you can directly go out of the door and wandering in Darkmoor.

Camped here a few times while training for ten tors, quite close to nodden gate (one of the main checkpoints). Only thing is all the times I've camped here it was chucking it down with rain. Some amazing walking routes around there as it's on the edge of Dartmoor, not too far from willsworthy

Absolutely amazing food, staff very friendly, prices great. Been there many times, fast becoming a favourite for an evening out.

After a walk over the moor, called in the Fox and Hounds for a Sunday Roast. An excellent meal, reasonably priced and dog friendly. Will be back Gavin.

Stopped off here for Lunch on Saturday we both had the steak pie & chips Mmm very yummy well worth it. Highly recommended

Excellent pub to stay in, also Excellent is the food, and very hard working friendly young lady who does everything single handed, takes bookings, runs bar and serves food 😀 all with a smile.

We ate sunday dinner here. The food was home cooked and very nice, The staff were a bit slow, as it wasn't busy I thought they would be more "on it" We sat outside in the sun which was nice. Dog friendly pub.

Lovely place with amazing scenery.

We had a Cobra monthly meeting here. There were 16 members attending. The service was quick and efficient with everyone very happy with the food. A good venue for our club.

Great pub and campsite. Friendly staff. Campsite facilities are basic but functional. My son and I had a cracking weekend. Thanks! Will definitely be returning😎

Popped in yesterday. Absolutely fantastic food, the sausage and onion baguette was very tasty, with good quality sausages. Ale was lovely and everything was reasonably priced. Lovely traditional pub with a sporting feel which unfortunately seems to be harder to find nowadays. A real gem in the middle of real countryside. I'll deffinately be coming back
