A party of 8 ladies, we visit Foxhills every year and have often been disappointed with food (to the point that we have started eating out in recent years) This year however, following news of the refurbishment we decided to try the Fox Dining Rooms again. It was fantastic. Everyone in the group really enjoyed their meal and wine, great menu options and good portion sizes. (Lamb was undercooked for some people's taste - maybe you should ask how the guest would like it?)Overall a really nice meal and good atmosphere

We stayed the night at Foxhills and our room was like a mini suite greeted with a- welcome note from the general manager and a bottle of wine and a plate of sweet nibbles. As the main restaurant is closed for renovation we dined at the golf bar and restaurant which exceeded our expectations. Well looked after by the lovely Ana and her colleagues we started with the small antipasta, a generous well presented plate. Apart from the nice menu there was as list of specials. It was a busy night and the small kitchen Performed really well.food quality and presentation was top notch. We will be going back.

Food is tasty, but minuscule. Don't go there if you are hungry and have a small budget. The best things are the rolls and butter. It is expensive and not really worth the costs.

Upon arrival we had a warm welcome at the reception, but then got a wakeup call trying to book a table at the main restaurant (*fine dine). We ask Johanna who was on duty if they have a table for us. Immediate reply was no table tonight without asking us about the time and if we are guests of the Hotel. We ask her to speak to the manager she replied this it is me, so we ask to speak to her boss. I overheard than a conversation between her manager and their guest relations manager where she was telling them (* If they get a table, I will not serve them). We got finally a table at their restaurant at 6:30pm we arrived at 6:30pm and at 8:25pm there are still available tables in our section available. • This is discrimination which is not acceptable. • In any prospective you cannot judge by appearance (*sometimes appearances can be deceiving) which is unprofessional. The first night dinner was amazing, and we really enjoyed the meal despite the high cost (*192£ bill). The second night we decided to eat at the same restaurant as this was our anniversary. • What a disappointment, my starter was not eatable (*white pork) to dry. • The main course of our daughter was simple pasta with mushrooms and parmesan cheese. • The first plate was raw pasta no cream and neither parmesan cheese. • The second plate came (*25 min waiting we finished already our main courses) and again it was not eatable, what can go wrong with cooking pasta?

Incompetent, unprofessional and pathetic.I booked a three day break over New Year for my young family. We found an unrefundable offer here for a junior suite with breakfast in a room that slept four.I never like unrefundable deals but given the five star hotel I thought what could go wrong. How wrong could I have been.Shortly after I completed the booking I contacted the hotel to ask for a New Year’s Eve reservation in their dining room, and was told that they had a special dining option on New Years for families with the celebration at 10.00pm so the kids could go to bed. They also told me that we required two extra beds in the room at fifty pounds each, per night, totaling a further 300 pounds. Making our overall booking cost in excess of 800pounds.Not such a deal now.The NYE celebrations were also 60pounds a head, again not so cheap. But it was non refundable so we were stuck. Then, three days from NYE we received an email asking us to book a NYE event as many were fully booked. When I replied to say we had booked already I got a response to say that event was no longer going ahead because of a maintenance issue and they could only accommodate us early evening in their restaurant. We cancelled this booking due to the incompetence of the organization. We were lucky that we were able to stay with family but the hotel made no effort to accommodate us following their own failings.

We had a disappointing lunch today. Arriving at 2pm there were no other luncheon diners, and now we know why. Two of us ordered the beef fillet and the portion was tiny with only two medallions of beef of our plate. The starter of burrata was watery, very cold and lacking flavour. We understand this was a fine dining restaurant, but the quality was not up to fine dining standards. We will not be returning for lunch or dinner. Maybe we stick to afternoon tea which we know is very good.

As we were close to Christmas I thought it would be nice to go some where special so I booked The Manor House for four of us. When we arrived we had a warm welcome. The restaurant was almost empty at 8.15pm. We thought that two weeks before Christmas was not a good sign. However we now know why. It was pretty cold in the restaurant. The food was extremely disappointing. My burrata cheese with tomatoes and pesto was very cold and watery, I did wonder if it had been frozen! I kept this to myself. The Foie gras was tiny. Three of us ordered Halibut which was tiny and dry! Certainly a rip off at £25 each! My husband had the beef a tiny portion too with only two medallions. We complained to the assistant manager and she explained this was because it was “fine dining” we told her that we would not be paying the full price for the food as the standard was poor. We felt that fine dining may give smaller portions but would be succulent, tasty and superbly cooked! The bill was adjusted to reflect our dissatisfaction!

We had a 2-day business conference at Foxhills. The hotel is situated on a large golf and sporting complex. As a result of our conference we had little time to enjoy the facilities - 2 golf courses, award winning health spa and gym, par three 9 hole Manor golf course, tennis and squash courts, and more. We ate and met in the historic Manor House. The food and overall service was excellent. The bedrooms are reasonably large with modern luxurious touches. Unfortunately there is no air-conditioning nor any plug points in the bathroom (in fact few in the room itself). Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided throughout the resort. A great weekend getaway venue.

Following a visit a few years ago we needed a venue for tea for 8 people at late notice and Foxhills was the only option. I was plesantly surprised to find the lounges had been re decorated which gave the place a much better feel and indeed the tea was very good, but ... and there's always a but, the service was very poor, you almost feel that the staff feel that once they have given you a cup of tea and a platter of sandwiches and cakes that their job is done ... or may be that's what they have been instructed to do?

We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Foxhills. We scheduled a round of golf the day prior to our party. We were a foursome with a tee time on the Longcross course. There was a drought for 9 weeks prior to us playing. On our day we played in a downpour. We rented equipment that was very serviceable. We also rented golf carts. We had a major problem with the Marshall when he told us we were 16 minutes behind schedule when we were on pace with the group ahead of us. The starter allowed twosome match play to start behind us. Someone clearly did not know what they were doing and used their position of authority to intimidate us. Service in the hotel was very slow until it was brought to a manager's attention. We had a party of about 40 people. After some minor incidents, the cocktail party and party were superb. The food was served piping hot with a very nice presentation. It was delicious and appealing. Our servers for the night were very responsive to making us happy. We used the hotels recommended florist and cake shops and both were very good. My wife planned and coordinated this event from the USA and we would return. The rooms we stayed in for 4 nights were very nice. The Manor could use some refreshed decorating.

We visited the X1X on a lovely sunny day. Have been here before and not been disappointed. It is not fine dining, and, I have read some of the other reviews. If you wish to have a ‘slow time’ experience and enjoy the surroundings, then this is a good place. They do not provide an extensive menu, however, what I have had in the past has been more than acceptable. On this occasion the staff were helpful and pleasant and I have no complaints about the service or the food. Like all reviews, it should be based on ones personal experience, and, proportionate to the level of cuisine and service offered; I say this, because I think some reviews are not balanced and are not measuring apples with apples. I use this place regularly for low key meetings and informal get-to-gethers.

Apart from these 2 points the food and wine were excellent. We arrived at 8:20pm and were seated in the side room, eventually around 9pm we had to summon waiting staff to take our order. We had the 6 course tasting menu, the amuse bouche was lovely, there was plenty of bread but several items in one of the starters were either missing or so tiny as to be pointless - truffle, salt baked crust. The other course were good, the exception being the main course of Chateaubriand to share, it was about the size of a steak for 1 person. It was too well done for my liking and it was not warm enough to melt the butter. Really it could have done with a sauce or jus of some kind as it was all a bit dry. When I booked they said they wanted the table back after 2 hours, at that time we were only on the starter and the meal wasn't finished until well after 11pm. However, the desserts were lovely and they brought out a place of chocolate and fruit with happy birthday written in chocolate which was a nice touch.

Afternoon tea should be a pleasant relaxing experience, and a bit of a treat. Sadly not here. The service was terrible. We were completely ignored for 15 minutes and then the waitress said "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice you. " A pot of tea finally arrived followed by another long wait for the food. The sandwiches were dull, the scones very nice but could have done with more jam, and the cakes were not very nice at all. Shop bought? Possibly. Finally, after precisely one hour, we were asked if we would like another pot of tea. Don't waste your money here.

We came here to celebrate a friend's 'big' birthday with a champagne afternoon tea. I had researched different places and the reviews for here seemed really good. I phoned to book and was assured everything was fine. No email confirmation was provided as with other hotels and so I confirmed again on the day. The drive up to the Manor House is lovely and the house itself is stunning. We arrived a little early and the reception staff were so lovely and helpful and were taken through to our reserved table and that's where I started to become quite disappointed. We were seated in the small bar (not a room for afternoon tea) on sofas that were really worn at the arms and quite old (but not in an antique way). I was also a bit put off by a group having some sort of a meeting sitting next to us who were quite loud and having beers, (we were in the bar after all) and so we carried on trying our best to ignore them. The music that was being played in the background was some sort of hip-hop rapping - not really what we had been expecting for a nice, sophisticated birthday celebration. We were asked if we wanted a drink but there was no list of teas on offer as I have had in other establishments and the waiter didn't really appear to know what actually was on offer. The scones and cakes were nice enough but the sandwiches were quite dry. No-one came to offer us champagne and I had to ask someone to do so even though that is what I had requested in my initial booking. I also had to ask whether we could have a top up of our teas which is usually an automatic where there is a good and attentive service. As the afternoon went on I saw other people being taken into another, much nicer room opposite which looked more like what I was expecting with much nicer seating and it certainly looked a bit more elegant. In other places I have had afternoon tea the staff have really made an effort when it was a birthday celebration and have done a little 'special' something such as a happy birthday message written on a plate, without being asked for. At Foxhills we got nothing like this and sadly, on this occasion we all did feel a bit like an inconvenience and, for a birthday treat was really very disappointing. Even the toilets were not particularly nice. I do not think I will be returning here in spite of its beautiful location.

Firstly, there were a number of persistent flies that were very irritating. The waiter, although very sweet didn't quite know how to take a pre booked afternoon tea order. My colleague asked for a glass of water and well, we are still waiting for it. The sandwiches were fine but the bread a little dry, the clotted cream hard and almost unspreadable! the scones were fine but again a little dry. The service was shocking. We've been coming to Foxhills regularly since we had our wedding reception there nearly 25 years' ago. My parents were long-term members. Our lunch today was very disappointing with service slow and shambolic. No-one greeted us when we arrived, we had to ask for bread (although butter was on the table), we waited an hour for puddings and several of us had items missing from our meals. A £8 charge for cheese instead of a pudding on top of £32 for a set three course menu, excluding coffee, seemed excessive. The restaurant wasn't busy, so the lack of care wasn't down to that. We also missed the touches we'd previously enjoyed, such as the savoury snacks with our G&T; and the buffet. We won't be back.

When booking a Tasting Menu, it's not unheard of that the start of the meal/experience is a little awkward as quite often you're seated without a menu and so you're never fully sure what will happen. This was the case here. We were offered water but no drinks when seated. We had no menu but were interested in the Wine Flight. In the end, when the bread arrived we had to ask for more information about it. Instead of an overview i.e cost, number of glasses, range of wines to expect, the Waiter tried to memorise the wines per course - which didn't mean a lot without a menu!

We ate in the restaurant on a saturday night. We arrived a little late, but the staff didnt even flutter about it. They made us feel like time was not an issue and we could take our time on pre-dinner drinks. Great drinks, great bar staff. The guy in the bar seemed totally and effortlessly in control all the time. We went through to the restaurant, which is a classic style country house restaurant, very nice design, a littlle cold but nothing to worry about. We had a great table. Having ordered in the bar the bread arrived. 10/10 for the bread, great flavoured butter, hot bread, good selection, great start. We picked a wine and the waiter checked it, as did I and we had a chat about it. Great attention to detail and again great staff. The starters arrived, Pork many ways and a raviolo. For both of us we were niether disappointed or blown away. The pasta was nice enough and cooked well but the filling had a mousse like texture and tasted of egg when i expected a rich gamey Gineau fowl taste. The cream sauce over the top killed the taste of the garnish which was a shame. I think it would have been better with something lighter and less cloying. The other starter again was ok but the pork cheek was dry and the arrival of curried flavours was skillful and welcome but a little to much. Main course wise was a lamb selection with a small pie and other bits. We both thought it was great, real modern cooking without going over the top. I had the beef which was a great collection of things that married well. My only view was the size of actual meat on the plate did not reflect the cost (not a grumble about cost as good food costs money and thats ok) at all. It was a small main course and whilst the main part of the beef was the show stopper I didnt get the rest. Enjoyable, very enjoyable but I would'nt remember it in a weeks time. Dessert time. Chocolate and pistachio slice. I thought is showed skill and thought in the whole dish. It was very neat, tidy, creative and again modern food. Our only thoughts was the garnishes on the dish were more of a standout than the main part of the dish! I am sure thats not meant to be the way. They were great and i could have just eaten a plate of the garnish! I had the caramelized banana. I have to say it was a massive dissappointment for me. It was not caramelized in any way at all. A real real shame. It was just a banana that had sugar on it. Not even a hint of colour. A massive shame. Again thought i could not fault the garnish. It was great, the small cubes of pate de fruit were the highlight of the dish. All in all a great restaurant experience and we will go back for sure. I think some dishes are trying to had to be stand out when they dont need to be. The staff were 11/10 all the time. Whoever coaches/mentors/trains the staff deserves huge praise. Exceptional

We arrived at the hotel and was delighted by what we found. The rooms were large, cosy, well equipped and the facilities were endless. The two girls aged 10 and 12 had a fun time in the swimming pool, adventure playground and after games room and after we all enjoyed a late lunch in the summer house restaurant that was really well presented and tasty. With such a good first impression and a busy day we were all really looking forward to dinner the The Manor Restaurant.

We had dinner here twice whilst staying at the hotel. The menu is quite small, the first night all three of us ordered the beef with minted potatoes. The beef was delicious but it was barely warm. We advised the staff of this and we were offered a free drink. We advised them that is not why we told them, we did not want a free drink, but we would be back the next night and probably order the beef again and it would be good if it was hot. The second night two of us had the beef, 1 lamb and ordered the mint potatoes again. However, again the beef was barely warm and the potatoes were rock hard. Each main course is about £30.00 per person so this should be better. What I would say is that this restaurant area has the smell of an old pub. The service staff are all very polite and care about their jobs. They do a good job.

My partner and I Stayed here on 29th June for 1 night and we were looking forward to the buffet breakfast as I had read reviews about it on here and on the website. However there was no hot buffet breakfast on offer on the 30th.

Despite 2 clear emails confirming our room bookings - 5 doubles prior to my daughters wedding - they tried to charge for 6. The so called manager read the emails, agreed there were only 5 booked but still said he had to check with reservations. Such a pity when I had spent a load of money with them. They add on a service charge - cheek! Someone needs to get a grip on this place. It could be brilliant but not with the current staff..fish rot from the head down..

Having read the reviews on tripadvisor we were expecting an "OK" dinner on Saturday night. Thankfully our experience exceeded expectations. My Salmon confit starter and Duck main were excellently prepared and presented and the choice of wines complemented the dishes superbly.

Really should have learned our lesson from last time, but we decided to try the Manor restaurant again during a recent stay and, once again, we really shouldn't have.

This is the type of place a guy gets down on one knee ! Maybe a little bit stuffy but quiet in the most beautiful setting. Dinner is relaxed but dressed up.... Drinks in the drawing room afterwards.... Excellent service.

I was treated to a birthday bash at the Manor House for Sunday lunch. It's a lovely room with terrific views over the 9 hole golf course and beyond. Service was splendidly efficient. The buffet choice seems to have disappeared, but there was a choice of three main courses. I had the roast sirloin which was tender and flavourful. The Rioja served by the flask was excellent. Coffee was served in the adjoining lounge so you could better relax. All in all a nice meal, served well, but just spoiled a little by the prices. £39.95 per head plus extras! Would I visit again? Yes, but not too quickly.

The manor house at Foxhills offers a charming period setting, and the Manor Restaurant itself is very pleasant. I attended as part of a group booking, so forgive them a little, but found the food to be quite average, as was the service. A great business venue, but not a restaurant I would visit as a private diner.

The Sunday lunch at the Manor is excellent. The quality is very good for all three courses and it's very reasonable at £32 for adults and £16 for children. Can heartily recommend the roasted sirloin which comes with all the trimmings. The rice pudding is an excellent desert.

The good - top quality meet and good portion sizes. The bad - quite a limited menu which is rarely updated (am a member at Wentworth).... The ugly - very formal and very pricey. Although the 2 or 3 course specials are priced sensibly. Summary - Great views of 18th hole is the east cost. Great for special occasions.
