Delicious battered haddock and curry sauce were tasty too. Served with chips and cheese. Definitely a big portion! Highly recommended

Sadly you can't leave a zero star review otherwise that's all they would be getting. A chip shop that canna cook chips an think it is acceptable to serve rotten manky solid foul and also under cooked chips at the same time. About time they passed it on, or at least got someone in that knows what they are doing. I am not writing this off of one bad meal but being suckered in time an time again thinking things have improved,only to be served garbage again. I am done with the forres fish bar

Hit and miss, sometimes it’ll be good and sometimes it’ll be rubbish. Batter need sorting out as it’s far to thin and when it’s dished up there hardly any batter.

Went with my mum yesterday and I was really impressed. We had haddock fish & chips, onion rings, chicken fillet and curry sauce. We enjoyed the fish and chicken fillet with curry sauces. The fish was fresh, no bone and fried to perfection with the crunch of batter. The portion of chips and onion rings were very big. It was really good, excellent taste and not expensive. The staffs were really kind. Dining there made our day. Will be back again.

Service was good although a bit slow. Atmosphere in a chippy? The food...well to be brutally honest it was the worst battered fish I have ever eaten. Fish flesh was slightly yellow, the batter was heavy and the smell was like cabbage. Do not recommend the fish although other dishes may be OK.

Phoned for a delivery and was told to hold a minute. Hung up after waiting 3 plus minutes and went somewhere else.

Went in recently, was greeted by friendly staff who did their best to help -though was little bit unprofessional but was young. Entire staff seems to be well communicated within themselves. The food came reasonably quick with how swamped the place was at the moment. How busy they where is a testament to how good they are! Chips where slightly soggy, but overall the food was up to par, exactly what I ordered and portion sizes where satisfying. The outside bin had a seagull on it, that was slightly off putting. I found inside was loud, but it was very busy.

The food is really nice, although I quite don’t like that 16-20 yr olds usually work there, and the prices are as well quite expensive.

The food was delicious! We ordered the fish and chips, chicken burger and steak pies! All of the food was great! I enjoyed the fish and steak pies very much! I recommend the food here. The staffs were very friendly and helpful.

I went in and the shop and it was completely empty after looking I found a meth lab in the basement, I'm pretty sure this was a front for money laundering (but don't quote me on that) my fish also stunk of poo

The best fish and chips in Forres.

I don’t know what happened to the quality of food but it is inedible. Chips are tasteless and soggy. Chicken was chewy with greasy batter. It’s a shame as we moved closer to this chippy and thought we would frequent it. Long gone are days of it being good. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Lovely chip shop, first time trying and it was lovely. Service is good with the staff being polite and helpful.

Portion sizes are tiny and over priced. £4 for a "large" chips which isn't even enough to feed 2 adults. Chips were cold and some undercooked and hard in the middle. Curry sauce is ok, hence the 1 star. Next time the other chippy in Forres is closed, I'd rather starve than buy food from here.

I have just came up from London and was hungry and it was late. I was told that this chip shop was good. I walked in and I didn’t see anything on display. So I order a black pudding and chips. As I stood waiting for this to be cooked I wasn’t sure about this chip shop. Anyway I picked up the Black pudding and chips and jump in to car. Then I open up wrapping paper and I had a couple of chip wow they were so nice then on to the black pudding again this was very good. I hope to return and try there Haggis. No photo as it was dark and I was very hungry.

Fantastic chip shop and reasonable prices. And small portions are available too which is really good as I don't eat much at once sitting

Lovely fish and chips, smoked sausage and chips. Been a few times now.

Visited this week for Large Chips, Battered Sausage and Fish Cake. I got there 30 minutes before they closed and were initially worried that I was going to get the dregs of the food. TBH - the food was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I did not realise you got 2 x sausages and 2 x fish cakes with the order. The chips and cheese were a generous portion. Normally I go to Northern Fish Bar, but from now I will be definitely going back here, my whole order cost £13 - which is pretty bloody good. Service was not brilliant (staff miserable that I can in 30 mins prior to closure) however, I am not paying for their smiles, the important point is..........the food was completely up to standard.

Being from London it's really hard to get decent fish and chips down there anymore. So I really do appreciate it when I do have great fish and chips and this place didn't disappoint at all lovely fresh fish and chips , decent sized portions can see why this chippy gets such good reviews 👍

Visited 2 weeks ago - normally go to the Northern, but thought would try here as I have heard good reviews. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ To be honest….was not wowed at all, long waiting time, ordered a fish supper, fish cake supper and a battered sausage, overall will not be going back. Value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I appreciate the cost of food is going up, but this meal cost over £20. Portion sizes were not brilliant, enough, but I was still hungry after the meal. Fish and Chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fish was warm and tasted like it was frozen prior to being fried. Batter was soggy, chips were pretty good and tasty though. Fish cake and Chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No complaints, was decent, cooked well and nice and crispy. Battered sausage ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent - faultless!!!

Quick service. Tried the deep fried Mars bar for the first time. It was "different" wouldn't necessarily buy one again. Great white pudding supper. My lads love the fish suppers from here, great sized portions worth the price.

We did have to wait a while for our order of 2 haddock and 1 portion of chips because they were cooked to order... but it was absolutely delicious , the fish was lovely, white and flaky and cooked to perfection...with the skin taken off ...Lovely and sooo well worth the wait. Next time we are in Forres we will definitely be going back to the Forres fish Bar .

Set aside at least an hour if you plan on eating here!!! We waited 30 minutes for 2x sausage and chips, and a battered Mars bar - which they missed off and we couldn't be bothered to wait any longer after being handed our order! Considering this was a Saturday night and there was a steady stream of customers, the 7000 people behind the counter seemed ill-prepared to serve quickly and efficiently, as you would expect at a chippy. It seems there is too much on the menu, therefore lengthening the wait - however our order was relatively simple. When we asked for the Mars bar, the girl that had taken the order made no effort to communicate with her colleagues, instead heading over to the fridge and pulling said Mars bar. There was no apology and we were not offered our money back for the item they forgot.

Best Fish n chips in Moray hands down, always fresh hence why its always busy. Worth the wait. Yum yum 😋 update still takes ages still tastes good

Got a red pudding supper this evening and I doubt I will ever eat anything from here again. The chips were hard and tasted of burnt oil and the batter on the red pudding obviously did not offer any protection for the red pudding, which was dry. I have eaten many a supper from this place over the years but this experience has ended that. It's becoming the norm for takeaways in this town to serve below par food at expensive prices.

Phoned my order at 17:20. They said it would be ready in half an hour. I finally received my order at 18:10!!!

Over 45 mins from ordering food to getting it after being told 10 to 15 mins. Battered burger over cooked after sitting in heated top box for over 30 mins after cooking it. When pointed out to staff they couldn’t care less and didn’t even offer to cook a new one. Won’t be going back again.

Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had , steer clear if you don’t want an upset stomach, run by a bunch of kids , £8.50 ! Never again !!! I sat by the river to eat them and ended up binning them, I watched as a seagull swooped in to retrieve the fish , then quickly dropped it with a look of utter disgust on its face .. say no more ...

Last twice batter has been overcooked and broke into smithereens when I tried to cut in to it. Also fish very dry!

My wife and I have enjoyed your fish suppers for years. Now that you have changed to cooking in oil, no doubt to save money. It can only be described as awful, we actually threw your food in the bin tonight!

I love this place I got there every 2 week •One thing I went on the 4th of January 2021 I ordered my food and this girl looked at me horrible And I payed and the told this man 3 people are allowed to say in and the was only 2 people that was me and a man I don't know what the girl problem with me and they made me stand out in cold and I was a Child so ungrateful I even order £18 earth of food for my family 2 saggagis suppers 1 child's fish 1 large chip...

Extreme amount of salt added when asking for salt & vinegar. Heaps of the stuff in the trays and so much that the kids couldn't eat their sausage suppers!

Spent a weekend in Forres at a friends and we went here. Was told it used to be a good chippy but certainly isn't now. I had a king rib supper and was so disappointed. I had my suspicions before I even got it as the stuff they were putting up on the dryer from the fryer looked overcooked and greasy. The colour of the batter to me suggests the oil hadn't been changed in a while, considering I was there not long after it opened that day. Also what chippy doesn't have chippy brown sauce?

Don't know what has happened but the food is greasy,cold & awful.Just had a King Rib supper and the chips were absolutely cold and tasted like they had been cooked in with the fish,king Ribs batter would have broken my teeth if i had bitten into it!! This chippy was so good when it opened after the refurbishment but God knows what has happened for it to go downhill so fast....maybe it's something to do who is cooking the food!! Will certainly being giving it a miss from now on!!

Tried the Forres fish bar for the first time while visiting family, I don't recommend.. it looks really nice and newly renovated but the staff are very unprofessional.. *firstly they all wasn't wearing Hair nets and had there hair in scruffy pony tales.. so if they bent over it would Go into the food *secondly they all was just messing around chatting away giggling and at one point I think to of them had a argument about something *Thirdly one of them was sucking a lollypop, that is unhygienic, unprofessional and distcusting.. I am a chef am would get told off for doing that at my work place while preparing and serving food *Lastly there was a girl that didn't no what she was doing, had fake eye lashes the was half way off and she put salt on my burger bun then realized she wasn't meant to and still served it Let's just say the food was horrible, undercooked and soggy... I will definitely not go back nor do I recommend this place

So glad this place has reopened following their awful fire. Food as good as ever, looks lovely and fresh and clean now it's been refurbished.

Very dissapointed been in 3 times since it reopened Fish were small & thin, batter crisp on outside spongy on inside 2nd time fish small but thick chips all crispy ends 3rd time lucky... No couldn't see fish fr soggy batter chips good. Wouldn't mind paying the 50p price rise if quality was as good as it used to be but definitely not worth £7.50 wont be back unless I hear it's improved such ashame

Well my first and last visit since it re opened ,fish was dry like it had been in warmer or cooked twice to reheat , far more batter than fish , chips to be honest were ok , curry sauce just a let down , over priced and sub standard . Customer service frosty to say the least .

Welcome was terrible and the looks my partner was getting from the older lady was ridiculous, burger was very dry and the chips soggy not very good at all, the girl on the till was very pleasant though.

Yay its back, looks great, nice chips, not greasy. Fresh onion rings are a favourite. A little on the pricey side compared to others though.

Chips were old, soggy and greasy. Batter on fish overcooked on the outside, and uncooked on the inside. Very little salt and vinegar on chips. Cost nearly £20...I'll make my own at home in future.

Can’t believe anyone goes here, like another reviewer said there’s no competition. Chips raw and fish old. 😔 very sad.

Best Chish and Fips in Forres but they don't have much competition. Free parking but no Wi-Fi pretty quick service with friendly staff.
