Food amaizing!!! Been here manybyears ago, still keeping best quality!!!

Lovely lunch at the Forge on Saturday. Chicken salad and roast squash and feta salad. Both beautifully presented and with unusual twists. Great Parmesan fries too! This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back.

Amazing food, cozy ambiance, and quick service. The staff was friendly, and every dish was delicious. Perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends!

Everything about this restaurant is totally outstanding. My son and I have dined here a few times over the years and we have never been disappointed. I would totally recommend the Forge to anyone who haven't been yet.

We have just had a wedding at the forge in Washington village. Ellie and her staff were amazing in fact double amazing. Everything they did was perfect from the food to the table settings, the service to the music and everything in between. We would definitely The Forge to anyone wanting a small wedding. Bit of a mix mash menu but great quality food and a lovely location.

Always had top quality, tasty food served hot with efficiency and by pleasant staff. Usually we eat there in a large group of 8/9 people . Still nothing is a problem . LOoking forward to our next visit on 23rd!

Love this place. Breakfast is amazing and dinner/cocktails. I can't wait to bring my mam. It really does have that homemade feeling.

8oz filet steak 5oz at best, it was tiny , complained and was told Chef weighed personally. Hahahaha Asked for medium steak, it was delivered well done. Not a good experience, was asked many times how everything was and replied "not good" , young waiters just grinned and hurried off. Not sure who was in charge, if anyone, but someone needs to be. Friendly atmosphere and has potential, in desperate need of a manager. Highly not recommended.

Food here is absolutely amazing, well cooked, tasted very good and the pudding was lush. The staff were friendly, nice and polite.

Food cold. 9 at the table service was ok but could of been better. Lamb dinner and meat was mediocer to say for real. Tough as hob nail boots for sure. Only thing that was edible at a decent temperature was the brocoli. I would think twice about going back.

Beautifully presented, tasty food, we had Sunday Lunch, with hot plates and fresh well cooked meat and vegetables. So lucky to have this place local to us without having to travel to Durham/Newcastle for fine food. Service good, wine good and well priced. We will definitely be back.

Although this is a nice restaurant with friendly staff , there’s not much choice for a vegetarian. There was only 2 salads and a Thai curry to choose from . We decided to eat here but it’s not value for money with small portions so we won’t be going back because a lack of choice for vegetarians too.

As soon as you walk in and see the remodelled room and decor you know you're going to get some great food and we were not dissapointed. We opted for the fine tart of king scallops & king oyster, 8oz fillet steak with fat chips and the slow cooked pork shoulder and it was all really really delicious and we savoured every moutfull. The potato mash was to die for. Jamie answered our ton of never ending questions about the rework and had some great banter. He's a great credit to the company. I popped to the toilet and you can see the chef's doing their absolute magic. I watched one chef peeling a single potato over the sink. If you want a place where you feel like the chef's personally made the food for you then this is the place. Give it a try and I'm sure that you'll thank me. Just been back for breakfast 5 years later and it was so yummy

Fantastic meal. Very cosy restaurant. We initially had a table that was quite squashed and the table next to us were repeatedly getting up to go outside so we asked for another and we’re accommodated by the very friendly and attentive staff. We had lamb and haddock and chips for mains. Arancini and charcuterie selection to start. Couldn’t fault it, we’ll be back!

10 of us ate here last night to celebrate my father in laws 80th birthday. The venue was very comfortable, staff very attentive, polite and efficient and the food was superb. Definitely recommended

Quaint little place, we love coming here for brunch. Best fry-up I have ever had. Always fresh food, innovative drink of the week, and the staff are lovely.

We visited here, for a date night. We had been wanting to dine here for awhile. On entering the restaurant was so warm and cosy, we were greeted very warmly by the staff. We both enjoyed starters and mains. To start I opted for the scotch egg which was so beautiful. It was cooked to perfection. I could have ate another. I then opted for the Guinea fowl. This was nice, but felt the quality of the food wasn’t as good. The bubble and squeak that was served with the Guinea fowl was greasy and I could taste the oil which was disappointing as it was rather expensive. Overall the experience was good, just I was expecting more in terms of the quality of food, based on friends that had recommended the forge and that of previous reviews.

We had a lovely night last night at the Forge, a group of 13, the food and service was second to none. Would definitely recommend this restaurant

My Husband and I have visited here a few times and have always been impressed by the quality of food and good customer service. The employees are amazing however the menu has been changed. Instead of receiving value for money and good quality food we were present with very small portion Welsh Rabit and charged £11. I could have bought a loaf of sour dough bread, half a pound of cheese, a pack of bacon and salad for less than £11. We were in The Forge for 35 minutes had a coffee and a Welsh Rabit each and were charged £27! We are going to The Green opposite the next time we visit Washington Village for lunch.

I really could not be happier to have such a wonderful restaurant on my doorstep. This little gem is a very high quality establishment with food that is comparable to some of the better restaurants in Newcastle and the wider North of England. We've been at all times of year on dates and with family and we keep coming back because the quality is consistently excellent.

Visited The Forge on many occasions and it never disappoints. Whether it’s the brunch menu (the full forge and the eggs royale are highly recommended!), the terrace menu (several small plates make an excellent tapas treat) or the evening meal menu (can’t decide on which is my favourite!!), this place is exceptional. Brilliantly managed by Ellie and supported by Arjan and the rest of the team. The chefs are unsung heroes! Outdoor seating ensures a brilliant summer visit. Indoor seating provides a quaint, classy and sophisticated atmosphere. Highly recommend The Forge and no doubt we’ll be back!

Table one is the best for 4 people in the corner. Fab carvery and desserts fab! Son is still talking about his choc brownie and honeycomb! The bakewell tart superb.

Went without a booking late on Sunday (5.30pm) looking for some grub. Really nice guy, Arjan, accommodated us outside and informed of the meats remaining - pork and lamb - no complaints from me! The weather was nice, the sun was shining, the food was excellent, the staff were great. Special shout out to Arjan - what a Gent! Top notch

Used to go here in the past, first visit for years. Lovely food, quaint atmosphere and really hardworking attentive staff. Only minus was very noisy party next to us and arrogant customer using his mobile at top volume. No reflection on the Forge.

6 of us visited The Forge for my 60th birthday. My partner and I have eaten here a.lot of times and love it. My brother,sister and there other halves haven't eaten here. They are now huge converts. The service is relaxed yet very professional and friendly. The food is amazing, 6 of use chose different starters and mains, 6 clean plated went back to the kitchen. The whole evening was fantastic. Thanks to all the staff for making my birthday a special one

Had a lovely meal here on a Thursday. Not cheap but quality. That is why the restaurant was busy. The staff were on the ball & professional. We did not have to wait for our drinks or between courses. Merlot and the food were delicious. Will return

Went last Sunday for lunch as it was my partner's birthday and were joined by his family - a table of 7. We have been before for Sunday lunch and Brunch and food and service was exemplary and so I told them that they were in for a great treat. However last Sunday two of us ordered Pork and I asked if there was crackling with it and was told yes. When the Pork came it was hard to find any meat as it was more or less all fat and the crackling turned out to be a soft rind. Another member asked for well done beef as they were told it is served pink. Unfortunately it was still too pink for her so she passed it to her husband to eat. Yes I could have complained but did not want to spoil my partner's birthday but I think it will be a long time before we visit this establishment again. Feel very let down.

I was in town for a few weeks and visited this restaurant. I was so impressed I had to visit again before leaving. Not only that, but I visited several other restaurants in Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside, which were in similar or higher price brackets, but none of them were quite as well-rounded as The Forge. The decor is rustic and low-key, but well finished. There is no pretentiousness, which makes for a warm, enjoyable atmosphere. The front of house staff are all friendly and attentive, even when being rushed off their feet serving a full house inside and out. The food is excellent. From the perfectly cooked scotch egg starter to the fish, lamb, or steak mains, down to the absolutely delicious desserts. The standout was the Cornish hake dish. We even took a 3 and 5-year-old on the first visit, and they produced some simple off-menu children's dishes which the kids both loved. Despite visiting only a few weeks apart, there were quite a few changes to the menu, which keeps it seasonal and exciting. I have paid more in other places in the North East for worse service, atmosphere, and cookery. The Forge is an absolute gem and despite being well above the average price for a restaurant in Washington, you absolutely get what you pay for, and it is worth every penny.

Just visited Washington old hall and called for Sunday lunch at The Forge. Arjan welcomed us and took care of us while we had, what we can say is, one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had for a while. Arjan was lovely and the food outstanding. Love that you can have a half portion. Such a lovely cosy setting. We will be back.

The best meal I've had for a very long time! The king scallops were superb, the steak cooked to perfection and made even better by the fries dressed in truffle oil and parmesan shavings then the truly sensational lemon meringue tart. Superb service too. Will be back soon!

My partner's got a dairy intolerance and when she realised what she was ordering would have dairy in it they were really understanding and offered to change up the order and make her something individual to suit her at no extra cost and she loved it. Food was incredible, meat and veggie options, really good beers on tap and absolutely lovely atmosphere and staff. Can't recommend it enough.

The worst EVER Sunday lunch I’ve had , 3 huge pieces of undercooked fat that had to be left , the meat was so chewy I ended up just swallowing it whole, even the knife struggled to cut through it, the wife asked for it well done , she said it was delicious, must have come from 2 different joints, she even thought the roast potatoes were frozen !!!! , £15.95 EACH !!!, what a joke , £2.75 for a small bottle of coke , we ALWAYS ALWAYS tip the waiter/waitress when we eat out , not on this occasion, take you tip out of the over priced food and drink, was our 1st visit to The Forge and our LAST VISIT
