Came here once during our stay in the Sterling area. We would have come more often, but it's not open for dinner daily. It's a very nice, cosy Pub. Very friendly, cheerful staff. An nice and happy atmosphere. We got a nice table by the window. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Got some beer and ordered some starters and mains. Had baked goat cheese and Haggis balls for starters. Both excellent choices. Nicely executed. For the mains we went for beef steak strips with chips and Bangers'n'Mash. Here again: Both great choices. The steak was nice and tender. Good grilled flavour. The bangers were wonderful - from a local butcher. Good stuff. The highlight were the delicious chips (fries). I don't know how the cook does it, but these were probably the best fries we've ever had. Crunchy and crispy (like we've never had before) and inside hot and tender. Divine. Brillant chips. Prices are fair, staff was great. Food excellent. A perfect package. Loved it.

My wife stayed and ate at Victoria Square. On street parking in the evenings/night. Very quiet area. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Both the full Scottish breakfast and dinner at the Orangery were great. Of the best meals of our time in Scotland. Loved the ambiance in the "greenhouse". Highly recommend!

What a great place to stop off for lunch. Great welcome, convers and service from Robert who is barman and waiter This is about a far removed from a chain pub with plastic decor and food and fake continental lager as you can get. The home made steak and ale pie was wonderful, served with a generous selection of vegetables and chips - all beautifully cooked and served hot. My wife had the home made mushroom, wholegrain mustard and tarragon soup - possibly the best mushroom soup she's ever tasted - together with a fresh cooked baguette filled with prawns and rose Marie sauce. Three real ales on tap from the Lade Brewery - again superb. There's even a real ale shop on site. Fantastic. Worth the drive from Loch Lomond for the soup alone. Oh, and less expensive than chain pubs as well. Our best food and drink experience this holiday and will definitely visit again in the future.
