Edit. In response to the reply from The Foresters Arms. I didn't want to type a paragraph about this place as I try not to leave negative feedback unless it's a really bad experience. Your pub is not the best and your staff are rude, hence 1 star. Despite most of my reviews being in Leeds, I did recently visit friends in Gosport. Unfortunately, we chose your less than fine establishment. Don't worry, it won't happen again. Here's a tip. If you get upset with negative feedback, try doing better or take yourself off Google. Leaving sarcastic assumptions in response to reviews not to your taste is in bad taste. Do better.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Please don’t eat here if you have had bariatric surgery. You will be met with ignorance and an unsympathetic establishment. I had bariatric surgery two years ago for health reason where I had 80% of my stomach removed. This means that I can only eat half a children’s meal. I have never been denied having this option and I feel that I am not ripping any restaurant off by choosing a meal I can sort of manage. I was not happy that when I asked for a children’s meal and the reason why, I was met with an undecrerionary No. We were a party of 5 and spent a good amount of money, so didn’t see that we were ripping off a business. I of course put a complaint to receive this reply two weeks later after I prompted them on their Facebook page Dear Marshalla Firstly let me apologise for the late reply but I have been extremely busy and as such have not been able to keep up with the admin side of the business. I am disappointed that you left unhappy however we maintain our policy that adults must pay the adult price for any meals you could of course have had a smaller portion but you did not want to pay the adult price as is your choice . If you recall we are very busy on a Sunday which is why we currently only offer Roasts, salads or Pizzas this will change when the outside kitchen is operational at this point we hope to be able to offer basket type meals that may be more suitable for you. In answer as to why we would curtesy check your table when you had chosen not to eat then again it is our policy to ensure everyone is happy with the food they are presented with in order to ensure they enjoy their meals your party conveyed they were happy with their food . Max our manager was of course not happy that you had chosen not to eat anything but as you were not prepared to pay for an adult meal and did not want a pizza, salad or pay for an adult roast she was unable to accommodate you. I am unsure as to why you feel we should sympathise with you as to your predicament was entirely your own making. Julie Daniels I have never in the two and a half years been treated like this. The experience left me in tears. Well done Julie and your team. Next time( there won’t be) I’ll be sure to order and pay for a £20 meal only to eat a fifth of.

The website - reads we make everybody feel welcome!!! Rubbish absolute rubbish, the male behind the bar has a face like a wet weekend! Welcoming (no) friendly (no) polite (no) I'm not sure where he thinks he is but the straight fact is your a basic barman in a rundown town - with many many social problems and high poverty!! Smile and be friendly because each customer that comes in are your bread and butter 👍 And if your offended by people that are slightly tipsy or drunk don't work in that industry... Simple, been to many bars hotels over the world and this place has a cold atmosphere about it..nothing worse when you have miserable staff that judge and don't particularly want to be there.

The Foresters is a great pub!! The sign as you enter states…..”Welcome to the Foresters…where strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet” and it is completely true! Don’t be fooled by the “rustic/traditional exterior” it is a proper local boozer! The staff are welcoming and friendly….in particular Suze and Gemma!!!! During the week, you can grab a bite to eat and a beer, or if you fancy something a little different then every Friday and Saturday night (8pm) they offer you the chance to stretch your lungs in the form of Kareoke!!! Another great thing about the pub is they welcome fans of Gosport Borough FC from midday on match days (home games). If you haven’t been in, or thought about going in as you walk past….then please do!!!! You won’t be disappointed!

Came here with a mate for a few pints and a game of pool.there are two separate parts of the pub. A front bar and a back part.we were greeted by the bar lady who served us promptly even though a darts night was on in the front.we played a few games of pool in the back bar and had a few pints and jokingly mentioned how good the food smelt from the pool teams food and if there was any going.after the darts had finished she offered us a few hot dogs and and some chips left over that would otherwise been thrown in the bin.such a nice gesture even though we were having a laugh but gladly took her up on the offer.lovely outside setting.lots of plants and decor.a bug hotel and bird feeders around outside.very friendly atmosphere.would definitely visit again

Crap hole, arrogant barman full of himself poor slow service, the idiot behind the har needs experience in other areas of life, he clearly is an arrogant piece of work that should see a GP

Didn't eat there but karaoke in the front bar and rock music in the back bar. Really good pub deserves to be busier

Never again. Went in during the week several times our money was greatly accepted no one in, was passing Saturday about 10 pm thought we would pop in doors were locked managed to get in as another customer came out got to the bar and were told couldn't be served because it was after 10 pm and we weren't in prior. Spoke to the landlord he clarified this was his policy/decision. I can't believe pubs are still picking and choosing customers at wasn't really that busy either. Disgraceful.

Great local pub. Nice beers and you can take your dog in there too. That's makes a big difference.

It was alright. Not blown away, just a standard local pub. Reasonable priced drinks, got busy for karaoke too. Definitely more one for local regulars though rather than visitors unless you're bringing friends.

Best pub in the world I recently left this world for a couple of years due to unforseen circumstances (rich calls it a holiday bless him) and have been welcomed back with open arms and love from Rob and the team 😘 xxx love u all xxx

We visited the pub on a couple of occasions and thought it was a nice pub then we went on my birthday and although we had had a few drinks we realised that some lads where up for causing trouble so we decided to leave when we left my husband was attacked outside the pub he had done nothing the police where called my husband was checked over and had bruising to head and cracked ribs yet we recently went to the pub again to be told we are barred even though we did nothing wrong disgusting treatment from what is suppose to be a friendly family pub

Just to confirm The Foresters Arms is still closed due to Covid restrictions. As much as I would have loved to pop in for a drink and bite to eat, this was not possible. I literally stood outside the door with my mask on, to drop off some flowers to my brother Rob who is the landlord along with his wife Lorna. He was then going to put the flowers on our mums grave, due to the fact that the cemetery closes before I finish at work. I am very proud of my brother Rob and his wife Lorna as throughout the lockdown and other restrictions, they have always put their staff and customers ahead of profit. Keep up the good work Bro, love you both lots 🥰🥰

Love this pub error in my previous rating because I was drunk and have fat fingers. Great pub.... would drink here with friends.. fella or children.... they cater for all.... xx

Timing of visit: Monday 28/01/2019, 12:20-13:20. Order: A chicken Kiev with mashed potatoes and baked beans. Price: £5.95. Quality of food: Excellent. Staff: Polite. Portions: Normal. Environment: Quiet and relaxing. Number of tables: Limited.

This Pub is in so many ways, like stepping back in time, to the mid 70s! We Googled "Pubs near me" & out of four that we drove past after a burial, this was the only one actually open. Hence 4 astars.

Came here for Sunday lunch wife my wife, son and father. I have to say the other reviews are spot on. It’s a really friendly nice local pub that does good tasty home cooked good. This is not a fancy gastro pub but you get good tasty home cooked food at very reasonable prices. I don’t understand why the place wasn’t packed but then it’s a bit off the main road which may be why. I’d love to have this place round the corner from us in London as I’m tired of over priced “fancy” gastro pubs that have no community soul.

Staff are so unpolite. Had a go at me and my friends for playing music on the jukebox and playing pool...we're giving you money....if you don't like it well go elsewhere but please don't ruin my night. Other than this woman it's a nice pub. Not exactly cheap but OK for local boozer

Large pub with two rooms and bars. Has a large patio beer garden. Landlord and landlady and staff are very welcoming and prices are reasonable.

Quite possibly the most welcoming pub in Hampshire. One of the last proper pubs around and going strong thanks to the brilliant staff and outstanding landlord and landlady. It is my old local and I have neglected it since moving to Portsmouth, but a piece of my heart is and will always be there. If you decide to go I for a drink or some of the fantastic home made food then you will be in no way disappointed. You will be treated wonderfully and welcomed with open arms as if you had been a regular for years. Families are welcome as are people on their own. Cannot recommend this place enough and hope to pay a visit ad apologise for my absence in the not too distant future.
