Really great, reasonably priced food and excellent service.

Highly recommended, a great spot for some lunch, a wide variety menu and lots to choose from. Good value for money, great service, cool sports bar area with Darts and pool.

Went in at 1551 to check they were open. Yep, they close at 1600. Came out. 3 mins later, partner went in to order take-out coffee but the door was locked. Closed early. Poor.

We had been cycling the Lakeside trail and stopped part way at the Forrest bar. This is a restaurant and bar with food. Lovely staff who accommodated us and casual dining area at the rear over looking the lake. Good selection of food, quick service and very reasonably priced. Plenty of pay and display parking. This is also the site for a campsite with lodges. Would recommend.

great place to enjoy a double vodka lemonade and a hot chocolate (which was amazing, one of the best i’ve had) everything was great just pie filling was a bit too stodgy/thick for me but nonetheless the service was brilliant and would go again if in the area

Staying at Waterside for a family mini break to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. Booked a table here at the restaurant for a family meal. We were welcomed and looked after by Brandon, he was very good at his job, making us all feel welcome and relaxed, we didn't get to say good bye as he wasn't around when we left, but just washed to say he was credit to the team. The food was excellent such good value and ample portion sizes, we all left stuffed. Staying in January, the park/restaurant was fairly quiet, however honestly for us it was perfect. I also want to say how blown away by the extra touches the restaurant provided, they gave her a bottle of prosecco and a beautiful dessert. I had not expected that. So thank you from us all, it topped off. Lovely day.

We had an absolutely fantastic time here! The food was delicious, with a great variety on the menu and excellent value for money. The bacon double cheeseburger was exceptional—highly recommend it. There was also a good selection on the kids' menu, which was much appreciated. The beautiful views added to the overall experience. However, the standout of our visit was the exceptional service from Jamie. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and an all-around amazing host. Jamie’s positive energy made us feel right at home, and he even managed to make my daughter smile with his friendly and fun approach. We also appreciated his portion control with the ice creams (which were delicious, by the way!). The Cool Britannia tasted like old-school screwballs. I’m writing this review in the hope that Jamie is recognised for his outstanding service. He truly is an asset to the team and made our visit all the more memorable.

Views for days, the seclusion and abundance of mental wellbeing

Warm bar and restaurant. Perfect after a wet hiking session around the reservoir. Had comforting carbonara. Variety of other foods available and really good local icecream.

Derek and Jamie were amazing, exemplary service and friendliness! We were celebrating my partner's 30th and they got him a lovely birthday plate with gooey brownies, shards and sauce! Such a lovely place, whether you're staying in the lodges or visiting, totally recommend. All the food was brilliant!

Had a crispy chicken wrap with skin on fries really nice lunch definitely be back if we are back in the area. 👍.

Literally 8 people in the restaurant and the staff could not cope…. A brief run down of the comedy of errors experienced: 1. Order not sent to the kitchen due to an iPad problem. Staff just standing around chatting, no one seemed to take any real ownership of the front of house. 2. Drinks order was wrong when they finally brought it over after 40 mins…. Guiness book of records for the longest flat white…… 3. No hash browns on the veggie breakfast. When querying got a ‘blank look’… asked for some extra toast instead and this just never arrived. Nuff said - avoid unless you have hours to spare.

Only pub in town but great for kids. Table service for drinks only is frustrating

Service was great, staff very accommodating. Good food, good prices, fast and friendly staff. Despite showing up at 3.20pm when they shut for an hour at 3.30pm they still served us all we wanted until they next opened back up at 4.30pm which we just about sat in until. They kept us informed of this and made last calls for anything else in good time too. Great experience, great staff.

Brandon the waiter was a top lad. Everyone else there was also very nice.

Popped in for lunch yesterday on a rainy day. Met with a warm reception and drinks order made straight away. Food was very nice although chunky chips were either over cooked or under and my son’s burgers were very charred. Fish was perfect but no additional condiments were offered so I had to leave the table to ask for them. We enjoyed the food and were keen to order desserts but unfortunately we were left with our empty plates for over 20 minutes and a bunch of waiting staff looking busy doing nothing. It was not particularly busy so we are not sure why they didn’t come to clear the plates and ask about desserts. As a result we left and bought ice creams in the visitor centre instead. Saved a few quid. Such a shame as the initial impression was very good but we left feeling a tad annoyed at the lack of organisation of who was waiting on our table. I wonder how many times others have felt like this. Seems they need to decide who is waiting on which table and check on those.

We popped in with the dog whilst on holiday as they had some vegan options and were dog friendly. We were quickly seated outside and our drink order taken, drinks arrived promptly. Unfortunately no one ever came to take our food order, which was frustrating. After half an hour of waiting we left and went somewhere else, after paying for our drinks obviously. Seems a shame and the staff that we saw were friendly, but service seemed a bit disorganised.

Great place to visit on sunny day.

Called while out cycling not exactly energy food for biking but fishfinger sandwiches was great and we only had about ten mile back to car.

My experience, was very enjoyable indeed and all the staff were really pleasant and helpful I will definitely be back.

Came on Saturday with a group of 2 adults, an 8 year old, a 6 year old and dog. We attempted to buy some drinks from the bar and were told that it was table service and a waiter would come to us by a little baldy bloke. So we went and found a table and sat at it for almost 20 minutes with no service.. when i went to the bar to attempt to buy our drinks there (everyone was thirsty) I was told to return to my seat by the baldy bloke as if i were an ill mannered child. By this point I was that annoyed with the lack of service that we left, if i was rude to any of the younger members of staff because of this, i do apologise. The little baldy manager (or whatever he is) really needs to look at other career choices, as customer service isn't an area he seems to excel in.

Carbonara with garlic bread tastes so good. Cappuccino is perfect. The carbonara pasta is delicious and the coffee is delicious. It is highly recommended. Staff were very nice and friendly. The waiters are very friendly and approachable, and quite funny.

Can’t comment on the food as I never got to eat here. I am staying in a lodge on site and went into the restaurant at 5:30pm today with my son. It wasn’t busy but there were reserved signs on some of the tables and the lady said they were fully booked. We got drinks so my son could play on the bouncing pillow and then I witnessed the very same lady tell a couple with 2 children that they were booked however this time she went to ask the kitchen staff and proceeded to serve them with food right in front of me.

Come here often and still dont quite understand the strict table service rule. Just serve drinks from the bar and save people waiting 10 minutes for a pint. Food is amazing though. Also why have a dart board and no darts available.

Tried to book for Sunday Lunch,but was told we couldnt book so just turn up.Went at 2.45pm, got turned away as no tables available.5 Adults including our Pregnant Daughter, so not happy at all.

Great find on our way back from Kielder Castle, the food and service is first class and just to round it off it's dog friendly. If your passing give it a visit you will not be disappointed.

22.4.24 - All of the ladies and young man that served us were attentive without being over the top. They were friendly and very helpful. We had Pie, peas and chips, coffee & coke. All good. The staff are a great asset to Northumbria Water.

Taking a wonderful 85 year old mother and grandmother for a longed-for birthday trip to Kielder needed somewhere to meet and eat that met the occasion. We needn't have worried. Not only were the atmosphere, views, and food truly exceptional but the care and service from the staff made the whole occasion a delight. They even spontaneously surprised us with fizz and glasses, and touchingly presented her with a birthday cake- a gesture that just made her visit. Even our dogs were spoiled. These guys are a fabulous crew, who run a great ship that is well worth making the small trip out west to the heart of the woods for. Spoiling yourself or a loved one with a trip to the Forest Bar at Kielder is an experience you'll not forget.

Member of staff called Ellis, can't praise him highly enough. Warm, welcoming, professional. A true natural with customer service 👍 burger was amazing & chips cooked perfectly but...... (There's always a but lol). Side of coleslaw seriously let's the plate down which is a shame considering how much time & effort has clearly gone into the mains

What a concept, this place has something for everyone all under one roof!!! 3 star resteraunt Bistro bar and grill Sports bar Soft play area and cafe Ice cream bar We ate in the bistro bar and grill with an excellent view of Keilder water, the food and service was all excellent as were the drinks. What a great way to finish a day's walking. This was a real surprise and we all enjoyed our meals before heading off to the Keilder dark sky's observatory.

Staff were lovely, food was great. My daughter loved the soft play. Also dog friendly.

Friendly staff, great selection on menu from main meals to lighter bites, delicious food, good kids menu. Came here after discovering Angler Arms in Kielder village was closed and so glad we made the journey further along! Highly recommend.

Very friendly and caring service

Very friendly and welcoming. Separate bar and dining areas. Felt comfortable arriving after a very wet and soggy walk (and after towel drying the dogs). Food was American style diner menu. Waiting staff were extremely attentive and service was prompt and very friendly. The puppas were even presented with some complementary dog treats at the end of the meal. We will certainly be back.

Expensive food.... not a lot on the plate. Mashed potato tasted like Instant Smash!??? Veg was just hard string beans that had barely seen boiling water. Prifessionally arranged on the plate for quality presentation... much the same as the other over-priced estabishments.

Wife and I both had a club sandwich with a side of chunky chips. Staff friendly,service good. Even give a bag of treats for both our dogs

Great food, extremely friendly & helpful staff. We had an issue in our lodge the power went out during the night. We lost a fridge of food, couldn't use any cooking appliances later that morning. As a extremely good gesture the owner of the restaurant offered us free complimentary, dinner x2 drinks & breakfast the following morning. Neither of us complained in favour to get anything like this, we were just happy to get it fixed and we're first offered the reimbursement of our food that had gone off which was fine. So again many thanks to the owner & staff for looking after us it was highly appreciated from us 3.

Nice and clean with great bar service. Their local IPA was very nice too. We didn't eat there but the Sunday lunches looked nice with a massive Yorkshire pudding.

Shared a meal with the family, 2 kids and my sister's dog. Amazing staff, lovely atmosphere. I couldn't fault the food at all. Even asked about the ice creams (where it was from) and the staff members asked for me. Food 10/10, staff 11/10, atmosphere 10/10. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend to families, functions, hikers and everyone!

Poor lunch time choice for vegetarians unless you just want chips. There are a couple of vegan options but they contain fake vegan cheese and fake meat both highly over processed junk. Husband asked if they could do just a cheese sandwich, or savoury cheese with proper cheese and they said no. The only reason for the 3 stars is the chips were really nice.

Came here for lunch and was blown away by the quality of the food. I was half expecting the quality to be that of a chain / garden centre, but infact was more like a gastro pub. The staff were very friendly. Would recommend if in the area.

I visited here on Saturday with my grandaughter and her mammy and we had a lovely afternoon, every member of staff were really friendly and welcoming, the service was very quick and the food was lovely we were in the Bug house with the soft play area which was a little hidden gem, my grandaughter had a whale of a time, we will definitely be visiting again

For the location, this could do so much better but as it is attached to the camping, it's perfect. As outside visitors, it felt more fast food, whereas being lakeside, it could do upmarket. The food was great, the building is great but inside is ott. It is unnecessary to have a TV screen for every booth to watch sports, this isn't eco friendly or everyone's cup of tea. There isn't enough m seating and outside areas overlooking the besutiful lake could be made more appealing and have more tables. The very young waitress wasn't very friendly at first and everything seemed a little too much bother.

Turned up, given a table, sat down. Waited 10 minutes as nobody had come to see us, so wife went to the bar. Was informed by the barman that a girl would be over to see us. Waited a further 10 minutes. Gave up and went and purchased a sandwich at the reception/shop.

Been in here twice over a few years. And thought I'd give the place a second chance yesterday as on my initial visit staff were less than friendly. Well, yesterday was the same story. Confronted on entry to be advised no food available, all tables reserved, but we can get a drink if we want (I think I'm quoting there too). Just all quite rude and unwelcoming really. Certainly not the welcoming atmosphere one might expect when you've already paid £5 to park up. I waited at the bar for a single guy serving then gave up after about 10 minutes! Staff slow and abrupt, not a great combination and won't be giving this place a third chance. Check whether you're staying before paying for parking is what I would suggest.

A great menu with food cooked to perfection and very tasty. Staff friendly and attentive.

Went for lunch, the server was attentive, polite and cheerful. The food was scrummy, I had a burger and my husband All day breakfast. No complaints. Also dog friendly.

We called in here for lunch, we ordered light bites from the main menu and 2 children’s meals. Food arrived pretty quickly and looked very tasty. The light bites were nice but I was very disappointed to find they had added salt to the children’s meals. Our grandson couldn’t eat his chips as they were very salty and our 3 year old never has salt on her food she doesn’t need it. I do think this should be personal preference if you need salt or not. I did mention this to the waitress as she collected our plates and she said she would feedback to the kitchen.

It was good, but the food arrived at different times. The staff were nice about it and took it off the bill . The settings is lovely.

Came in here twice while staying at calvert keilder. 1st day had lunch, I had the fish and chips my partner had the steak. 2nd day we came for dinner and we both had the pork loin. I don't usually order pork but glad I did. We didn't have room for dessert but the options looked good, they also have quite a fee flavours of ice cream available. There is a shop onsire which is open 24/7.

Visited whilst on holiday for our wedding anniversary (we went for afternoon drinks everyday as dog friendly). The steak was fantastic, the service, quality and value for money was great. When booking we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, totally overwhelmed with complimentary Prosecco and anniversary sweet board! 💕 fantastic touches made it really special. Highly recommended.

Can I give zero star??? The old fat s is rude! Food is fine, other staff is fine too,but the old fat s! Maybe, I am unlucky, rather than racist. Two days ago, we come and order same stuff in outside area, three more tables do the same thing. Today, the fat S said according to our policy, it is not allow to eat outside. OK, we respect if the policy really change within 3days. Now, we have a seat inside, at the same time, the fat S said, you can not order any food until drinks come(we order drinks already and wait the drinks come) with bad attitude. Highly recommend for the LUCKY person🫰

As a local, we bring friends here regularly. Unfortunately, no bar service only table service meant that I didn't have long until I had to leave so the staff begrudgingly served myself and my partner a drink. Unfortunately I've just heard that our friends waited 45 minutes and were never served a drink. They asked 3 times. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. For goodness sake, management needs to sort this place out, or please replace the management. You need bar staff, people need to be allowed to order a drink at the bar. Staff are mostly rude (apart from a couple of guys who are really trying). We've had numerous issues on our last 3 visits now. Absolutely unaccepatable.

Arrived for open at 12 today, 3rd group to get in. Served half our table as we were ordering separately, but then said we had to go to back of queue for the rest of the table? After 40 mins everyone else at other tables were having food served, we hadn't been able to get a drink order in. Asked at bar and 2 servers, no one ever came. Shame as lush location and great facilities for kids.

Super helpful staff and lovely food. The whole site is dog friendly and all the staff were really nice, the dog had water (although I suspect he would have preferred a burger!) we sat outside but there are several different rooms including one with a small indoor play area. The giant bouncy pillow outside was popular with the younger members of the group! Food was very nice, the staff were happy to adapt my meal to take into account t my weird dietary needs without the slightest hint of trouble. The menu has something for everyone with lots of choice. A very nice little spot we will be back next time we are up.

Food was lovely, really tasteful and diverse menu, accomdating to our request for a window booth seat. Manager was lovely and showed us to our table. Dog friendly resturant. We sat down and enjoyed our first starter. Delightful food served in a classy outfit. Bottom line the food was great. However, the servers were utterly rubbish, we ordered a drink that we didn't receive, a hair was found on our food, and generally not very attentive server's, we sat waiting between courses but were asked to hurry as a table was needing to be used. Bit disappointed considering it's a fairly expensive restaurant £££ None the less the food made up for it.

Set in the Birds of Prey area at Keilder Water. Amazing views and good eating place with excellent toilets. Staff friendly and helpful, very good food. I had a prawn sandwich with nice salad and slaw. My husband took the chicken strips with dip and salad which he said was very filling and delicious. Beautiful forested area great for a run out.

We came on Monday afternoon and have to say the staff were some of the friendliest staff in a restaurant I’ve come across, lovely coffee cakes and ice creams. You were a credit especially working on an Easter Monday

Staff very welcoming its was my daughters 10th birthday today cheff and staff came out sining happy birthday with a board board with things on that she could eat that was very good in my eyes the food was realy good i normal eat a full plate but left some chips was that full the place allows dogs

Outstanding service by everyone . My wife and I popped in for a drink but ended up stopping for a light lunch. The Fish n Chips were huge and we decided to share a portion ,thank god we did !!! The service was the highlight though. Great views from window seats. Thanks and well done.

Just been here tonight staff didn't look like they wanted to be there quiet rude dancing about not listening to customers terrible service buger was cold I'd say go to the pheasant or bo Rigg for decent food and service in this area

If you are around kielder you must visit this place. Great food, and great service, with brilliant views of the reservoir. Also has an indoor play area and a big bouncy airbag outside for those with little ones.

A really pleasant experience with our (mostly) well behaved kids. Food was great and the service was spot on. The team seem really close-knit and seemed to enjoy being together

Stayed at the lodges and frequented this restaurant every day food is good quality and the service is very good, my partner mentioned it was her birthday today and the server gave us both a prosecco on the house which made her day. Thanks again to the staff at the forest ☺️

Spent this weekend at Kielder waterside in a lodge and visited the Forest Bar and Kitchen every day over the weekend. Firstly the customer service from Shay, Liz, Neal and Daniel was excellent, they were very accommodating, very friendly and went out of their way to make your experience a great one. Food has been excellent and the Penang Curry is the best we have ever had! Never tried the Sunday Lunch but it looked fabulous! A definite destination if your staying in a lodge in kielder

Lovely food. Ordered a takeaway one night and ordered chips with pizzas but on collection was told i never ordered them, tried to tell the man i had ordered them but he wouldn’t have it

The staff are extremely nice and pleasant and the food/service is extremely quick and good quality. Would 100% recommend this place. The burger is to die for. Also Mark was great fun and extremely pleasant.

Not the best. Walking down from our lodge for a quick drink, felt like it was a big deal from the staff to find us a table (not even full) and gave the vibe that they were doing us a favour by even letting us in. Felt unnecessarily elitist. Definitely the most disappointing aspect of an otherwise fabulous break.

This place was astronomically terrible. We went to the kielder bird of prey centre,Then we decided to go to this place (The Forest). We were expecting to eat and leave in under an hour. In time to come back to see the birds fly. (This was at a fixed time) My familly and I ordered drinks, they took only about 5 minutes to come. Then we ordered food. we only ordered 4 sandwiches but it took about 45 minutes to come. When it did come it was very average food. I could've gotten cheaper ingredients and made the same sandwich myself and made it better. this caused us to miss the bird show. Only go here if you don't care about the price, food or wait times. You will be waiting for a long time. Its only good because its the only pub in the area
