The Foodstory Cafe in Aberdeen City

Great cafe with loads of lovely options. We had 2 tumeric lattes which were warming and delicious. The BEST porridge I've ever tasted (the special porridge with coconut milk and lovely toppings) - if I could eat this for breakfast forever I'd be happy. Food is clearly made with love.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is lovely, but the prices have been raised recently and I find them unjustifiable. I sadly won’t be back. I understand both businesses and customers are facing rising costs, but £5.85 for a sausage roll and £9+ for a sandwich is way too inflated. There are other cafes nearby that better balance quality and cost.

Food was good. Minus a star for the quality/price ratio. Paid £27 for the pictured food.

Pudimos elegir entre los menús de brunch y almuerzo (llegado justo después de las 11 am). Gran ambiente relajado y agradable. Me encantó. El personal era amable y servicial. Mi único comentario sería que entramos por la puerta de arriba, así que no vimos el tablero de bienvenida aconsejando encontrar mesa y orden en hasta usar el número de mesa cuando esté listo, etc., así que como primeros en empezar habría sido genial si nos hubieran recibido y aconsejado a la llegada o otro tablero en la puerta de arriba también? (Disculpas si hay y me lo perdí). Los sabores de la comida eran increíbles! Hablé de ello todo el día y compartí en grupos de celíacos para obtener información también. Muchas gracias 😁

AMAZING lunch (brunch) at Foodstory Aberdeen today. First visit here but certainly won't be the last. Great food and so many brilliant gluten free options (so appreciated!). We were able to choose across both the brunch and lunch menus (arrived just after 11am). Great relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Loved it. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only feedback would be that we entered by the top door so didn't see the welcoming board advising to find table and order at till using table number when ready etc so as first timers it would have been great if we'd been welcomed and advised on arrival or another board at top door too? (Apologies if there and I just missed it). Food flavours were amazing! Talked about it all day and shared on Coeliac groups for info too. Thank you so much 😁

This place is amazing, I'd say a top spot to visit as a tourist. It's definitely made special by the excellent staff - the owners ought to hold on to the very chatty local guy with a beanie. The food is incredible - so flavourful and rich, totally worth what it costs. Allergen-friendly, good for breakfast lunch and dinner. Obadiah coffee is in the hopper, made well. The grocery corner stocks a variety of vegan-friendly snacks and ingredients. The interior is very cozy and roomy, the floor is well laid-out. Nice chill music, not too loud, affords comfortable conversation even if you sit close to a speaker. There is also free WiFi, I imagine it's a good spot for some laptop work. There is no stair-free entrance that I could see. There are two front entrances with two small steps each. Will definitely be back when I'm next in Aberdeen.

Ordered the gluten free option of poached eggs and peacado and they didn’t inform me that there was no gluten free bread so gave me two little hash browns and obviously paid full price. If you have any food intolerances make sure they have a proper substitute

Popped in for coffe yesterday and was appalled by the lack of cleanliness, starting at the entrance. Have people forgotten how to clean and present an acceptable entrance?

Delicious food and great service every time in this excellent and very cosy space. Highly recommended!

Really like this place - often go for salad at lunch, but early coffee is a new addition thats lovely.

The food at Foodstory is delicious and very reasonably priced. We should support the endeavors of people who pride themselves in making such fine fare. Love the realistic desire and the ‘real’ people who can be found enjoying themselves.

Good breakfast and lunch options special craft sandwiches, salads, etc all vegan friendly. Good coffee and nice pastries and cakes

Absolutely loved this place! The vibe is upbeat and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The salads and beverages were fresh and flavorful, but the standout was definitely the mango chutney grilled cheese—such a unique twist and so delicious! Most salads you could get half and half. If you’re looking for a spot with great food and atmosphere, definitely give this place a try!

So 1st important note - Vegan. That means bac*n is not torn off a wee piglets back but is in fact a veggie alternative - like roasted aubergine. 2nd - it is very popular - you may have to wait to be seated. 3rd - breakfast ends at 12 actually means breakfast ends at 11-ish. Bear all that in mind and you will have a top quality brunch without harming any wee beasties. Highly recommended. Oh yeah - its dog friendly - yayayay.

Great quality food and staff are ok

Really nice looking place. Unfortunately the food was bad, the whole concept of pre-coooked, over priced food is annoying. On top of that, as expected I guess when the food is cooked 7 hours before it's consumed, the food was a huge let down. Good place for a nice cup of coffee, stay away from the overpriced food.

The food and coffee I had here were amazing! The flavours in the focaccia and salad were mid blowing and the coffee was 10/10. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come here again 😀

Great place, food and atmosphere - was definitely worth walking in the Aberdeen rain to get there

During my semester abroad in Aberdeen in 2017, I enjoyed going to Foodstory very often and also often shopped at the small shop upstairs at the time. This week, after all these years, I went to Aberdeen during my holiday in Scotland primarily because of Food Story and was rather disappointed. We paid almost £20 for two cinnamon rolls, a matcha latte and an espresso macchiato. The matcha latte looked really nice, but was quite bitter and the powder wasn't completely dissolved and the cinnamon rolls were just too sugary. There are still three stars because I think the sustainability concept of the café is great and the owners are actually very likeable...

Food story is a lovely cafe with great food but has a number of shortcomings on visiting today. Having arrived at 11:55 and then queuing to order breakfast (served until 12:00), we were told at 12:01 that it is out of the servers control and that we cannot have from the breakfast menu any more which I feel is not particularly customer orientated. Staff were not particularly welcoming which you would expect when it is busy but when we arrived there were only 2 tables with customers. We also had quite a wait for our food (from the lunch menu). The big positive is they are dog friendly which I do really appreciate.

Breakfast menu can be ordered until 12:00 but due to queue to the to till not allowed to order at 12:01. We fed back to staff that not really fair feedback was poorly received. Food is very good and the cafe is dog friendly which is great. Just service needs to improve - maybe 2 tills or better tolerance with ordering from the breakfast menu (maybe all day breakfast- Yaiii! ). Staff training definitely needed on receiving feedback.

I had to spend a few hours in Aberdeen waiting to head to the airport. As a digital nomad, I needed good wi-fi to get some important work done. Foodstory was amazing; I was there for four hours. Had breakfast, lunch and multiple cups of coffee. The staff was kind and completely unfazed by my long stay. Thank you for showing this American some authentic Scottish hospitality. Note to other travelers: Don't take this place for granted; spend lavishly and tip well, they deserve it.

La comida más alegre que hemos comido. Teníamos el tazón de desayuno que no tenía sabor ni condimento. Luchamos por cortar la plancha de pan ya que los cuchillos no parecían tener un filo afilado. Nuestra mesa no había sido despejado después del último cliente (s) y permaneció así durante toda nuestra estancia. La acústica es horrible y es muy ruidosa. No volveremos.

Love the food, the drinks, the whole vibe. The aubergine 'BLT' is amazing, as is the Everything Breakfast with peacado. One of my favourite spots to meet friends.

Lovely visit to Foodstory on a sunny day. They have a seating area at the back of the cafe if you wish to dine al fresco. I ordered the large salad bowl which includes three salads of your choice (12.85). There were five to choose from. The salad bowl comes topped with homemade hummus and mixed seeds. Everything tasted fantastic, full of flavour and something totally different in Aberdeen. Shout out to the staff who were so kind and helpful, delivering 5 star service. The peach and thyme bake was out of this world delicious. Highly recommend Foodstory to anyone.

Lovely food. Was in with my Daughter who suggested we have dinner there before going for ice cream along the road. Food was amazing as was the matcha latte. Needless to say we didn’t go for ice cream but did have a couple sweet treats which were good too 😋

Lovedddd the ambiance, and the servers were so nice and friendly! Took their time to explain the menu to me~ Loved the chai latte! Had a very nice spice-y mouthful with each sip! Ordered the Aubergine BLT, slightly bit more expensive then I would have liked it to be but it was great, and it got me through 2 meals Will come back again soon!

Had a wonderful experience at the food story. The food and the coffee is phenomenal with very affordable prices. Not just that, but the people serving over here are also great and very polite when they serve. I was served by Faith, she was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu and about the overall place.

Trendy cafe with wooden furnishings offering good coffee and range of food. Enjoyed the vegan roll with Greek salad. Dog friendly. Free WiFi with a helpful suggestion that if you wish to stay and use the WiFi for a while then maybe sit upstairs.

Ate lunch at Foodstory in Aberdeen with my nephew and had a pretty beautiful experience! The cozy, rustic atmosphere made my skittish nephew feel very relaxed. The menu catered to our diverse tastes—my burger was flavorful, and my nephew loved his creamy mac and cheese. Chocolate cake was just...*chef's kiss. Oh and my darling nephew , bless his innocent heart got attached to not just one, but two staff members over there..

Had the best peanut crunch ever. Melt in the mouth. Spot on with the taste and sweetness. Soup is very interesting and tasty.

Very tasty bubble tea in an oddly large shop with a single employee doing their best on a Sunday. They did their best but with one set of hands it's hard to keep up I think. We had a matcha-taro warm bubble tea and a fruit drink with mochi. Both were excellent, but I think the matcha-taro is a must-try!

A place I insist on visiting every time I arrive in Aberdeen, even if I only have an hour to spare. Everything on toast is a must!

Good food, coffee and setup from a decent independent

Nice cozy place with lots of vegan options. We had a very good breakfast witk mushroom/everything toast. I missed that you are supposed to order at the bar, but otherwise a lovely experience. Do try the chai!

The all loaded breakfast option was super delicious, very tasty food and super friendly staff. Highly recommend

Went at the weekend and the place is really dirty. We’ve been a few times before and the food is always good and I hadn’t noticed. But this visit I was pretty appalled and we won’t be back. The floor is dirty especially around the skirtings- in fact I’d describe it as filthy. Our chair was grubby, the glasses were dirty and I had to ask for clean ones and the surfaces were not clean either. Awful.

Lovely cafe on the street close to the high street. Buzzing with people and lovely menu. Had an aubergine vegan BLT and was a fantastic start to the day. Service was good and prompt. The place is staring to feel run down 1 maybe it’s their vibe but could do better on cleanliness.

I've been her a few times with my toddler after dropping his mum at work. This is definitely our go to place. The staff are all really friendly and the food is great. A toddler repeatedly finishing all his food is good proof of this 🤣

Can never pass up on a lunchtime sandwich here! Only thing that confuses me is that the same item will cost £1 more if you sit rather than takeaway, but I understand that cleaning of cutlery is likely the reason

The servers were fantastic and very friendly, we were there with three buggies and babies and we were very welcomed. The cinnamon rolls were absolutely delicious as well!

First time for myself here, although my daughter rants about it as she's in most days. I was a little sceptical as I'm not Veg or vegan so thought the menu would be boring. How wrong was I. I had the best poached eggs and lovely sour dough toast with a herb drizzle. Absolutely delicious 😋. Service really good, staff very attentive and welcoming. Will be trying my local Edinburgh one from now on. My daughter had the toast with mushrooms, houmous, tomatoes and beans and that was equally delicious. Did not miss meat at all as portion sizes were decent. Really gorgeous food.

Coffee was not much better than room temperature despite requesting that it was to be boiling hot (not the first time this has happened). Room is cold, you can see your breath. Yes it was a particularly cold spell, all the more reason to have the place warmed up a bit. Food was good which was the Granola Pancakes and one of the porridge options, I forget which one.

I'm not a vegan but enjoyed the cakes and coffee. My brother had the vegetarian roll and it was so tasty. Coffee really delicious and water available free of charge. Only negative was there wasn't a visible price board for the food and they ask what table you are sitting at before you've found one. But staff were very helpful and friendly. Dog friendly too ♥️

Bought a long black and cinnamon bun to take out. Great service, reasonably priced. Had a Brazilian coffee on the hopper - not had many Brazilian coffees that I have liked but this is definitely an exception! The taste was exquisite and the aftertaste even more so! Despite having lived and studied in Aberdeen, I had never set foot in the store — the amount of great coffees I had deprived myself of!! Will definitely be back again on one of my next trips back home.

Only 3* I'm afraid. The food, whilst extremely tasty, was a bit pricey in my opinion. The tables were sticky and I checked 3 glasses for the on tap water before finding a.clean one. The toilets were not very clean either.

A great central cafe for meeting friends, working, relaxing and of course eating the amazing vegetarian food on offer. Overall service is friendly though not necessarily attentive or engaging. The atmosphere is pleasant with good ambient chill out music. Additionally, there's a great selection of herbal teas, natural products and fresh produce to purchase. Photos include: Mushroom Sourdough Toast - A beastly and beautiful breakfast sure to fill you up. Pumpkin Spice Latte (Decaf) - a yummy hot drink with a slightly alternative taste to the usual coffee = £15.50 Finally, the warm Cinnamon Buns are pretty delicious 😋🥮☕

Had a lovely relaxed lunch, really reasonable prices and good service. The menu was fantastically vegan and very tasty. It's a great place to try something new and I will happily go back to try something new. I highly recommend.

Met for a coffee & catch up 230pm yday. The cafe was busy , however time we waited in que a table became available- was never cleared we ordered 2 drinks and two cakes, the coffee took quite a while to arrive £14.95 later .. Not once did we see any waiting clear a table, cafe was very cold! lots of people just hanging out reading books and on laptops . . Toilets are checked morning and night but lacking tlc-

Delicious, healthy food with vegan options. The choice of 2 different salads is a great idea. The Brussels sprouts and beetroot salad was sweet and lovely. The pasta with hummus and seeds was also delightful. The Bakewell bun was absolutely lovely too.

It's a decent cafe. You can dine in or get a takeout. There is a reasonable selection of items to eat, although I've found them to be constantly out of stock on cinnamon buns. They aren't available on any of the main delivery platforms (JustEat or Deliveroo), which is a bit of a shame. Staff are polite and friendly though, and the environment is reasonably clean.

Been going here for a long time. Definitely one of the top must visit vegan/vegetarian restaurants in the city. Their breakfast and lunch options are excellent. "Everything Toast" is my all-time favourite.

Served the best espresso I’ve had in years. Lovely chilled atmosphere and a great variety of flavourful food that’s full of nutrition to boot.

Nice food, was disappointed the blt was cold, maybe should of asked to get it heated up. Lovely coffee and nice atmosphere, don't really understand the service charge asked for before I'd eaten or been served food, I realise it's optional but prefer to tip after.

Good service, but overpriced lunchtime food selection. Unusual flavours of soups, artisan breads and enormous pastries. Free from options also available. Lack of servers for crowds at peak times, and service was slow but personal. Large tables with good space between them, creating an easy atmosphere for enjoyable meals. Clean and tidy food preparation and serving area.

I really loved not just the vibe in here but the service, food and coffee too! We had our two young boys with us who were running riot and they were so accommodating! Looking forward to coming back!

Coffee was tasty but latte slightly too cool for my liking. Snacks good but expensive. Let down by lack of table clearing. When we were in there were only three tables occupied so it was very quiet. There were at least six tables which had not been cleared and cleaned and remained so for the duration of our stay. As far as we could tell there were about five staff in the cafe at the time, busy chatting to each other and not attending to duties such at table clearing and sweeping up a messy floor around a vacant child seat. Would not go back.

Great place to socialise with people. Had a great time talking and having cinnamon roll and hot chocolate. Would definitely suggest my friends and family to pay a visit.

Great café for vegetarian options and excellent coffee. Wide range of sandwiches and salads. There seems to be a love for eggplant, avocado, and greens. Cinnamon rolls sell out so fast! They have ample seating and are open late. Great place to have casual food, socialize, work on laptop, or just have a soothing time.

Ein sehr schönes, liebevolles eingerichtetes Restaurant mit ausschließlich veganen Gerichten. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Unser Hund war willkommen. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es leider, da die Auswahl an Essen sehr gering war und dann konnten noch 2 Gerichte von der Karte nicht zubereitet werden.
