Good and nice pub also for kids. The food was great and our kids had fun with the drawing equipment.

The fish at the Northern has always been consistently very good to excellent. I've been nippin in for the fish chips and a wee beer for over 8yrs and I can only think of one occasion it was average. Its relaxed and friendly atmosphere welcomes all walks of life. 10/10 would recommend

Perfect Place for a Family in the daytime before 8pm. Try out their signature cocktails and their awesome food. Also, on every other Sundays, there is game nights for you and your folks. Thank me later

Well food is delicious very good value bit mixed a staff I was charged£ 2 85p for small glass tap water dash of blackcurrant to my assiant manger rudely he does do the pricing but he could of show he cared was charged two week in a row 70p for same drink !!!!!!

Extremely Friendly staff, with a welcoming atmosphere, also very convenient for public trublic and within walking distance of the city centre,i don't purchase meals hear but it is very popular and recommended for bar food and meals,i would recommend it to all.

Very clean and friendly staff. Regulars were all pleasant and a good reasonably priced pint of beer. Can't ask for more than that and will definitely return. Popped back in to the public bar this time and was just as good. 5 stars.

Having frequented the Northern for many years I thought it was about time I left a review. This pub is so well managed and provides a lovely service. Great value and well cooked food. A wee sun trap at the back (when the sun eventually makes an appearance!) And very bonnie plants which are well kept. Overall, a gem of a place on George Street, and my local, thank you all x

I've been in a few times before and it's been fine. However, I've been to watch the football twice now and it wasn't great. I got there early both times to get a decent seat but when the game came on it was switched over to suit the regulars at the other end of the bar. They seem to control the TVs. I mentioned that I can't see the game as well now that it's been switched over to the staff (who knew I'd asked the TV setup upon entry and was sat there specifically for that game) and this was shrugged off. There were also a couple of guys who came for the main game (Man City v Liverpool not Celtic v Livingston) behind me who I could hear were irritated by this and left at half time - they were seated with drinks and the game was abruptly switched over. Despite this I thought the guys behind the bar were really friendly and the English girl was nice also but I thought the blonde girl was rude. Overall a nice bar but for watching football I'll probably head somewhere else.

If I could give more stars for service, I would. I, unfortunately, cannot remember the bartender’s name, however I believe he was from North America. He was extremely friendly and skilled at pouring Guinness (which I have often been unimpressed with at other pubs in Aberdeen hahaha). Really made my experience memorable, would definitely recommend to any tourists in the area looking to have a nice meal.

Came in for a couple of cheeky guinii with my friend after a long day at uni. The lounge area of the bar was completely full but I got seated at the bar. The most devilishly handsome, defiantly debounair bartender that goes by the name of Conor poured the sexiest pint that mine eyes have ever been laid on. My utmost compliments to the procurator of my beverage. Shall revisit this fine establishment in hopes of meeting this dark, tall and handsome stranger once again. God speed, you will always be on my mind and in my heart.

Excellent service from various and waiting staff, also found the perfect red wine.

Great pub friendly staff good food

Came to visit with my son & daughter in law and granddaughter and was pleasantly surprised lovely atmosphere. Excellent service and food was cooked perfectly and service was fast.. Give 5 ***** for the young gentleman serving and the young blonde girl at the bar who made me lovely cocktails.. And 5***** for the chef Katie for food. Will definitely be bk next time I am in aberdeen.. Highly recommend

I've been going to the Northern, for a very long time. It's always been really good. A few nights, It's been very quiet but usually people are in for a drink. Friendly staff, friendly people & really nice to have a local. Oh, a VERY nice, pint of Guinness...

Just back from a wonderful afternoon, having the Christmas Day menu at the Northern Bar. Food was good, hard working staff were absolutely brilliant - we were warmly welcomed from the moment we stepped in and were looked after beautifully. Thanks so much Katia & staff - we will be returning on our next visit to the Granite City.

Was booking for 10 for Saturday lunch and was asked if it was for festive menu if it was I had to tell them the day before so it could be defrosted 🙈🙈 she said only thing fresh was vegetables Staff need to be trained better have been many times but won't be back

Staff are friendly, menu is adequate although a few items weren't available. It's pub grub. The pub is an known establishment in Aberdeen. Meet a group of friends. Bar area busy, the restaurant area was not overly crowded. The food was not great quality.

Jenna was the barmaid and was very rude and abrupt. Have been in many times before for food and never had this service before. Only had one drink and left

Excellent choice on the menu and very reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly and a nice relaxing atmosphere in the lounge. We went on a Sunday and their Sunday roast is definitely worth a second Sunday visit 🙂

A squad of us popped in for some drinks and ended up ordering some nibbles for the table. All great. Service was bang on as well. Really quick. Thanks to the Northern bar staff

Food is average, service quite good but had no atmosphere. It tends to liven up in the evening & week ends.

Decent food, service was very good and barmen are friendly with a good sense of humour, we were very well attended to. Would say that the crowd makes the atmosphere so varies from day to day. Have a preference for the back of the pub with the umbrellas and tables.

Had a great Katsu curry and a couple of pints, Sam was super attentive checking everything was alright with our food. Felt very welcome and will definitely be coming back.

Popped in for Sunday Roast since its back on the menu & it didn't disapoint! Portions were good & piping hot. Well done to Stuart the chef! We'll have the same again same time next Sunday 😋😂

Had a great meal and drink today. Great atmosphere lovely fish and chips and great staff. Young guy who served us was very friendly and made the experience a 5* for us. Definitely come again. :)

The team at The Northern are always so friendly and welcoming! Shout out to Sam behind the bar who always goes the extra mile with guests. We took our dog for her first trip to the pub and the staff were amazing with her despite her being quite nervous, even bringing her a bowl of water. Highly recommend!

Had a fab afternoon here, lovely food and the service was second to none. The bar staff were very attentive and friendly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and fab cocktails!

Enjoyed a lovely steak here with peppercorn sauce. ( the other half had garlic and mushroom sauce which was also really nice) Its a nice friendly atmosphere and the guy behind the bar was great. Was in the area due to a hospital appointment but will defo return when next back in the area. (We live 170 miles away) i also had the mini chocolate cake with a coffee both were really tasty. They also stock alcohol free beer.

Awesome food Belhaven have changed their marketing model to be more upmarket. Foods awesome and great value. Drinks are pricey but I guess Belhaven realise nay many folk can afford beer anyway.

The Bar has a very friendly feel about it, and very welcoming. I've eaten at the Northern bar before and the food is usually nice, Unfortunately last time the lasagne was not hot and the kids pasta was inedible. On saying that, if in Aberdeen and in the area of the Northern bar I would go back ( think we just hit it on a bad night)

The bar tenders were very cool and I had a good chat with them. Four pints of Brewdog punk ipa and I left happy.

If your inclined to have a go on the fruit machines. Then don't go to this bar it says notes in and notes out not true only ten pound notes it will pay out . Machine doesn't pay out .

Always go to this bar for friends birthday celebrations always welcoming friendly. Katia is a brilliant host as is her staff.

We used to be regulars here for Sunday grub a few years ago, but hadn't eaten here for a while now after food went downhill a bit. Thought we'd give it another go now, and we really shouldn't have left it so long. Just as comfortable as it used to be, with cheerful friendly staff, and the food was as good as we've had for pub grub in quite a while. We'll be going back for sure!

Went to Aberdeen for a wee break,found this pub. It was a very friendly establishment and quite reasonable prices.

We booked for a Christmas meal in October, paid the deposit and preordered our food way in advance. I called a few days before to pay but was told the card reader was not working but it was fine we could pay on the day. We had never been to this pub before so when we entered we went through the bar area, and were ignored by both workers until we figured out where the restaurant area was. We were then seated and got drinks the starter took around 20mins to arrive but my cheese souffle was pretty much cold and my partners salmon came with beetroot which the menu didn't say so he wouldn't have ordered it as it was wasted. Unfortunately we didn't know we would be the last table to be seated on Christmas day as the website showed slots after us, which I guess weren't filled. Apparently, more people then they were expecting turned up and didn't preorder or pay a deposit so they ran out of food for us. The main was missing stuffing, sprouts, Yorkshire pudding and parsnips, we only had one pigs in blankets and a few potatoes which were clearly the end of the batch. For this me and my partner were substituted with peas and broccoli, hardly a Christmas dinner but a normal Sunday roast that cost around £100. The dessert was a standard clearly microwaved one, but was decent for a pub. The mens toilet was missing the toilet seat and had a really strong smell of urine but the disabled toilet I used was fine. The staff were very friendly so I paid what was due as I didn't want to cause a fuss but the very least they should have done was offer something else or a partial refund. We didn't get our mince pie as they isn't offer it and we just paid and left. I definitely would not go here again as tables that prebooked are not given priory to people just turning up and our food we paid for was given to others. It certainly put a damper on Christmas day.

Wasn't at all impressed with my macaroni cheese tonight, bit bland, and not saucey. Didn't eat it! Normally, I get nice food, but not tonight, disappointed 😥

We visited here several times during our stay in Aberdeen. Every single staff member was very friendly we was made to feel so welcome. They made such a fuss of our dog (Flash) too even treating her to sausage. The food was also very good & so reasonable. A lovely pub with a cracking atmosphere, we wish you all well.

Came here for lunch a few months ago, with Kelly, and found the food great, I have been back on several occasions and always find the same good standard.....and the prices are excellent. Katia, who runs the place always has time to talk and makes you feel very welcome.

I visit The Northern Bar every month for lunch with my step dad Graeme. The food is always delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend for good pub grub in pleasant surroundings.

Came for a meal, bar man was obnoxious from the get go, tried to cheer the poor guy up, asked if he had a bad day got told in a unfriendly way that he just woke up as he snatched my money out my hand, I won’t be back, no wonder Aberdeen hospitality and our local bars are going down, used to be such a welcoming pub

Testy lasagne Beef in red wine topped with a became sauce and cheese with garlic bread and a dressed mixed salad. This is absolutely nice. I recommend this bar to whoever want to eat fresh meal.

Having been a regular on and off for the best part of 30 years.. also being a belhaven/green king employee for much of those.....I am absolutely appalled at the behaviour and attitude from a staff member of yours tonight. Came in with friends, no problems... I do know most of the regular staff....have done for some time ...never had any problems till tonight .... whatsoever... .

Tried their breakfast and absolutely loved it. Get in there on a Saturday morning and try it. You'll not be disappointed

Had lunch here today 12/5/22 and have to give this place a great review. The food came in good time and was exceptional for a pub lunch. Very clean and relaxed interior with a nice chilled vibe. If this place we're on union st it would be a waste. You may have to make a bit more effort to get there but it's worth it as they return the favour with delicious food at extremely competitive prices. The menu seems to have had a revamp aswell. Highly recommended.
