The Fish Hoose in Fife

Food overcooked, large downturn from previous standards. You could forgive this happening to one persons meal but for a full family meal this is not acceptable.

Ordered way over an hour ago, food arrived and was cold!

Since the new owners the foods not the same, chips are poor not the same quality a bit of a disappointment. It’s very difficult to get the order right with the language barrier. Tried to charge and make us an extra small fish and chips which is an easy mistake but I clearly said twice I just want salt and vinegar on both suppers, but he put brown sauce on both, I did not mind that much but my 6 year old refused to eat it so was a waste of my time and money. I guess there is a reason a once very busy shop only had us in as customers at 5.30pm on a Friday evening. Defo not worth the wait or money won’t be back.

used to be the best fish supper in town! Now it's the worst. the chips were rotten like they were yesterday's leftovers refried. fish full of bones. never again.

There are now new owners and they are obviously cutting costs as the fish was difficult to find (It was hiding under a chip). Fish and chips were greasy and it is obvious the new owners have very little experience in this business. Do yourselves a favour and avoid the disappointment.

This fish and chip shop has a small seating area inside and we visited here having been recommended that we try the fish teas. We were warned about the size of the portions and can now confirm that they are large to say the least. Service was good and the food was fresh and tasty. This place is on the Main Street of the village with lots of free on street parking nearby. Well worth the visit.

Been my fav chippy for several years despite it being a 22 min drive from home. Ordered my usual regular regular haddock supper which was normally two decent sized pieces of haddock and chips. The regular haddock came as 1 and a half very small pieces of haddock with chips. The fish were full of bones. Very disappointing. I won't be back.

Poor portions of fish mostly batter and tasteless, their chips come pre packaged in bags also tasteless, will avoid this place from now on, £16.60 for fish supper and single fish, really poor value for money, my wife’s single fish was two very small scrapings of fish mostly batter which was very oily, wouldn’t have filled a mouse, the staff should be in masks as they are committing daylight robbery.

The first time back in a while, I don't think I will be back lacking previously quality before you were told where in the sea and what boat the fish was caught on .First class potatoes named verities and the farm they were grown .

honestly the food was nice won't be going back 11.50 for a fish supper and only 1 and half bits of fish then the biggest hurt was 7.50 for a smoke supper and only have a smoke sausage it's shocking. but the food was still great if you don't mind that

Estimated 6pm delivery. Turned up at 6:45 after multiple phone calls that were not answered and also hung up on. Poor show from this establishment

Ordered a collection thinking I was saving time, it went from 25 minutes to 50 minutes. On arrival at my alloted time, I was told I had another five minutes to wait. Order a mini fish supper and got the smallest fish I had ever seen. Won't be back!

was notified my order had been delivered but no sign of it! I waited a further half and hour then phoned to be told to wait another 15 minutes!

The food and service at the start was amazing but when they got busy and after asking for the bill multiple times it starts to get very frustrating. Waitress didn’t really know what she was doing to get the bill but young lady serving was great.

I used to always order from La Padella. However for the past year it's been terrible so I tried The Fish House and it is now my number 1 go to chippy. By far one of the best chippies I've had. Perfect chips and amazing battered fish. Its even better than the famous one in Anstruther. Been several times now and never been let down

Ordered the half chicken but it wasn’t available so I had battered chicken goujons instead and they were absolutely delicious

No delivery received. Do not use this place and you have been warned. Terrible service. State its just eats responsibility and not theirs and their is nothing they can do. Recommended by a friend, was worth the visit. The Lady was very warm and welcoming. We got some nice smokies!

Tonight's fish and chips were not to usual standard. The fish were very small and thin, and the batter crispy was more than the fish 🐟

Food was late. When I called to ask for a time I was told my food has been ready for 45mins but they were waiting on a driver turning up. Unsure how you can justify leaving food out for 45mins then just handing it over when the driver turns up - my food was barely warm when it arrived!! Won't be ordering from here again

Rolls weren't buttered... chips were hard and very dry... waste of money.

The food is usually decent from here but ***Vegetarians*** beware. We had a vegetarian stay over and they wanted the vegetarian haggis. Luckily I asked if they were cooked with the meat and they said they were. I tried explaining that because they are cooked with meat they are not vegetarian but they just said the haggis is vegetarian though. Don't think they understood by cooking it with the meat it is no longer vegetarian.

Unknown to us, the Fish House must have been sold (it was an excellent fish & chip shop), sadly it wasn't to be the evening we came.

Great food and helpful staff. If going to collect don't bother ordering online, it costs extra, I had to wait 10 minutes(?), and the man had to disassemble my order to add S&V as the option is not available on the website. Update Nov 23: I got a single smoked sausage with my F&C. We all know what a smoked sausage is like right? Well mine was 1/3 of one - and got charged £3.80 for it. Photo attached. I'll leave it up to you to decide if this place deserves your custom.

Food was lovely but arrived cold as using uber delivery drivers and he was trying to deliver to the wrong street for over ten mins.

Really disappointed with the fish suppers. Fish portions were small, one plus a scrap, greasy and more batter than fish. Wont be back!

The fish had nice crispy batter but the chips were greasy which made it a dissappointing experience. Staff were not very chatty, no friendly banter or general chat, and seemed to be rushed off their feet.

The suppers from here were previously a treat and didn’t let down. The last twice it has been dreadful. Soggy, tasteless, very poor quality. Service was ok, but the place doesn’t seem to be busy any more so it was simple to pre-order and pay on App, walk in, pick up and go. Sadly won’t be back: it went in the bin as it tasted terrible. Such a shame it has changed completely and assuming that there are new owners who lack the skills of the previous owners and are possibly now using inferior products.

Portion of haddock could have been improved upon considering the price.

First and last time ordering from here! My order wasn’t delivered. I checked my side and the address and contact details are all correct. What actually makes this annoying is the order was not only accepted, it was updated, a delivery driver assigned, then out for delivery and delivered. Now I’m sitting here late on a Friday evening with no food and almost £20 down. Could have just not accepted the order and saved me a lot of wasted time and hunger.

That’s twice now the chicken burger has just come with cheese no sauce or salad and it’s like eating a dry piece of bread. It really needs the chipotle mayo

I've been a fish fryer and have lived in Scotland for 23 years the chips were a sensation brown and crispy not anemic like most places this chippy was majestic only downside was we didn't get our dips 😢 and chips were slightly tepid but regardless 5 out of 5 stars it was absolutely banging thanx fish hoose!

This was a lovely chip shop and my local. I was very disappointed in both service and the quality of food. The service was a little awkward as staff did not appear to communicate with each other., and there did not appear to be enough staff on duty. The food was not to the high standard as previously experienced. I had not realised this had be taken over. Sadly I do not intend to return.

Gone down hill since new ownership, chips are rotten, stood in queue for 20min before asking where order was and it had been forgotten, final got it and put it in the bin when I got home. Reviews should start again when a change of owner has taken place. Won't be back.

Really nice food ..but I found I got less of a supper and even the King rib was tiny...I think with inflation rise it affects your premises ...overall great tasty food

The smallest ever portion of chips I have ever had in a scampi supper. I’d call it a snack rather than a supper. NOT good value at all, so I shall not be ordering again from the fish hoose.

Quite disappointed with my Just Eat experience of this establishment. My order was missing items and when I called, the venue was closed. The chips were fairly tasteless but the fish and chicken were crispy. I ordered breaded chicken and received battered chicken. Overall quite disappointing. My order was expensive as well and the service I received was not worth the money.

An absolute disgrace! The reviews from 2017 were excellent… and deservedly so. Living locally, you would see long queues waiting outside. I hadn’t been in for the last couple of years following two disappointments, but last week I decided to give it another try. What a mistake! The place was empty, yet I waited twenty minutes for one order. It was absolutely dire! Two tiny bits of the thinnest ‘haddock’ I’ve ever seen… so shrivelled up and lying in a pool of oil which totally covered the bottom of the box and actually dripped off the fish when I lifted it out. Needless to say, it went straight into the bin. I wish I’d read the recent reviews before I went! Never again!
