Brilliant local chippy, reasonably priced and the best fish supper I've ever had. Staff are lovely, service is quick, the food is mouthwatering. UPDATE, 2024: Still the best chippy I've ever had

Food was very dry and over cooked service was terrible no atmosphere what's so ever,I just wouldn't recommend it, I will definitely not be back

Staff changes not very great, it used to have lovely people always smiling . After last time I’ve been I definitely won’t be back, not paying for that attitude and greasy food.

One of the best, chicken super moist and full of taste. Haggis with a nice bite.

Agh the golden chip, how a joyful name invoking a wonderful vision of a traditional chippy meal. God how disappointed I was at the last visit. Maybe age distorts memories, I was hopeful but it's certainly not as I recall as a kid. It was hot, I was hungry, I ate. The broon sauce, was a delight.

I used to go on a school day during lunchtime some days, good quality every time. Nice wee treat to have once a while

Double haddock and chips were lovely. My only complaint would be how much it has gone up in recent times. I appreciate that costs have gone up across the board, but take away prices rivalling sit in prices now.

Food is always good here, good choice. What let's it down when it's busy is even if you have phoned in an order or done an online order for collection you still have to wait in the queue or if you want something cooked you can't ask until you get to the front so you need to wait again. It would be so much better if you could ask them to put something in the fryer so it was ready when you got to the front of the queue.

Slow service, order was not ready despite calling ahead 20mins before. Had to wait in queue. Other chippys the food is ready to go, pay and go. Also over priced.

Fiod qas sent to wrong adress, they took it backbto the shop the re-deliverd the heat up food. Which was greszy and soggy because of the situation. Store tried to deny this when I asked for fresh food

Ordered large fish supper with only salt, Small fish supper with salt, Plain burger nothing on it except a burger. In person order. Normally put order in online and never had an issue. Got home and there was brown sauce covering the fish and chips. Every single chip was covered and the burger had cheese on it. Lost yourselves a regular customer. Extremely annoyed. In reply to the manager/owner. I told the server salt only and no cheese just plain burger. The error in communication was with your staff. For each item to be incorrect is not error in communication but just incompetence. I had to make food for children after a12 hour day. The idea of having to phone you to rectify at 7:10pm was not something I wanted to do. I am within my rights to leave an honest review. As you are within your rights to defend your businesses reputation but to say its an error in communication suggests its my fault and that is unacceptable.

The sauce that's been request on the food gas been wrong the past three times. Tha manager stated the team are trained to repeat the order the previous time I spoke to them, this time I had to ask them to repeat it back to me! And it's still wrong

The fish and chips always taste good, decent portions. Staff are friendly and efficient.

I have to say the food here is actually really good and you don't have to wait too long. The younger staff are clearly new and just learning and hopefully after being there a while they will become more confident and better at the job. The other woman who seems to be in charge is super nice and very quick at what she is doing. Will definitely go back again

Dunno what’s going on with this place , has it changed hands or something ! Not long had a delivery and it was utter gash ! So greasy it’s unbelievable, fish was disgusting and pale looking and the king rib was like mush !! Used to be one of the best chippys in Dunfermline but that was a complete waste of nearly £20 !! The fryer needs a work with themself !!

Fish was very small and completely flat more batter than fish, chips were hard and tasted as if they were cooked yesterday !!! Tasted as old oil used for frying !!! Don't waste your money !!! Horrible experience, never again !!!

A few weeks ago on a Saturday evening I waited in a queue that started just outside the door and very slowly and gradually I made my way to the front of the queue where I saw why it was taking so long to be served.... they were so fixated on managing their online delivery orders that the face to face customers were kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting and when I was eventually served they got my simple order wrong and were not very gracious about it. I won't be back the length of time it took to be served and the manner in which I was spoken to and dealt with by the main lady was beyond acceptable. If I could give zero stars for my experience here I would.

Quick service, reasonable price and excellent food. Parking nearby was a bit awkward, but well worth driving round a few times to get parked.

Used to love this chippy but it’s gone downhill. The sausages are like sponges and lots of bones in the fish. Cole chips, really need to look at their suppliers and review their service. Shame.

I was there about 21.00 Last night picking up some fish chips supper haggis supper small tub curry sauce two picked onions all till I got and the haggis was good at all and handful of chips wasn't in pressed

Ii gave a 3 for food but really wanted to give more. Let down by a fish supper that was riddled with bones. Never seen so many. On checking what I thought was 10 bones found it turns out more around 15. It's kind of off putting to find that many bones in your fish supper. Otherwise the food was hot and was delivered earlier than expected. King rib was nice and so was burger.

Utter garbage, and that’s me being kind. Christ knows what I was served but, it certainly wasn’t what I expected. Red pudding supper. The were chips dry and tasteless and the red pudding was unlike any I have tasted before. It was overcooked on the outside and mushy on the inside ( never had a mushy red pudding before) and, it smelled and tasted like smoked fish?? Called them to let them know but the female on the phone couldn’t have sounded less interested if she tried. Overall rating….garbage!!

Went every day when at school a long time ago went in last night with my grandsons after football and it was delicious

Best chippy in town. Always busy and the staff are pleasant. Despite other people's comments about waiting times, I don't mind that as your order will be hot and fresh!

Go to the Golden Chip if you like queuing and waiting. Go to the Golden Chip, queue for 10 minutes, then be told that fish is being prioritised for home deliveries. Go somewhere else.

Visit from my Grandson and he likes a chippy and as usual he loves from here.

Food was tasty but service is somewhat shambolic. Your orders are only taken when at the front of the queue after having been in the shop 10 mins only to wait another 10 mins or more for them to cook your chosen meal if it's not readily available.

Ordered fish and chips and spring roll supper. Was told 8 to 10mins for the spring rolls. Waited ages before my order was ready. Got home to find the spring rolls way over cooked..almost black at the ends. The chips were hard to find amongst the scraps they were serving as chips...won't be back. 🤨

Solid rating for this chippy, Ordered twice in the last month and highly rate it even with a few issues deserves 5/5 Prices are great, cant slate them at all, Solid rating on price! Taste has been 10/10 both times. Had a couple issues but keeping my top notch rating for the above being acceptable. First time my fish had a few bones, 2nd I ordered tikka bites which were great but the chilli sauce they came with was not nice at all. Tikka bites were a great price and tasted great just let down by weird chilli sauce still keeping the rating high due to overall order price, quality and taste. Can only recommend. Delivery was a good time. I did order a pickup once during a weekend and there was a long queue and my food sat on display for a little while which comprismied quality a little bit but understandable to to weekend unpredicibility. 5/5 still given all above really good

Seriously We love it! This is honestly the first time since I'm in the UK (England) that pizza is not greasy or soaked with fat! When chips are normal not wet from oil! Pizza was really delicious and We will be there tomorrow again !

Great chips, the main ingredient in any 'supper'. Without great chips this type of food really doesn't work, whatever you have with them. Crisp, fresh tasting and just full of flavour. This place is one of the original Golden Chips, and full credit should be given them for their continuing effort in producing possibly the best suppers in this area. The accompanying scampi were also excellent, as were the staff.

Ordered supper for 7:45 it arrived dead on time

Never open they are shut more than they are open it's terrible honestly I've never came across a fast food place that is shut as much as them its a shame they are shut all the time because their food is amazing but sick and tired of them constantly being shut

Absolute horror show of a place. Told me it would be 5 minutes for a red pudding supper. After 5 minutes they then asked me for money. I obviously thought that when I gave them money I would receive my red pudding supper. I queried this and was given the terse reply "WHAT DID YOU SAY".15 minutes later they then gave me my supper after it had been back and forth from the display at the front. Needless to say I did not eat the red pudding supper and will not be back. Avoid like the plague.Their customer service is criminal. If anyone wants a decent supper in this area I recommend Gennaros in Bellyomean Road. Would give zero out of five but my review would not be accepted.

Was very nice indeed, thoroughly enjoyed it .had large fish supper. 2 nice crispy battered haddock fillets and loads of nice dry but crispy chip was enough for 2 off us couldn't eat whole on on my own.

Very busy and understaffed, customers who phoned in had to wait for a good while as orders were not ready for collection. This meant others in the queue had even longer to wait ,

Slow service they stop serving to do orders I front of you when could be taking yours. Waited 25 minutes for 2 suppers absolute joke. Will not be using again. Rubbish service.

I struggle to even figure out why the delivery service is so bad. Had to wait more than 2 hours for a delivery that’s less than 0.5 mile away. The delivery is always late and has been at least 40 minutes longer than the hour stated online everytime I’ve ordered something. Decent chippy but book 3 weeks in advance if you want a delivery and you might just get it.

Placed an order just after they opened on xmas eve. Told it would be an hour, then called me to say an hour 30. When we chased them, told another 45 mins. Only one driver on at this time of year, utter joke. Waiting three hours for food is terrible service. Got to wonder what's happened or how many orders within the first 25 mins of the place opening.

Just average. Had a pulled pork burger that looked promising, but again... Just OK.

Well after speaking to an abrupt woman when I was trying to explain that the chips were obviously been at the bottom as they were crumbs basically she asked me to wrap them up in the box & orginal paper & return them to her & she would decide if I could get a replacement bag of chips 🍟 offset bare in mind this was a supper so I was not going to wait on her deciding if my chips were acceptable for HER! chips to the pigeons, poor customer service never be back you would understand if I was complaining about a tomahawk steak but a bag of chips that's how low she will go , training needed for this member of staff, as they won't be the first or last goodluck as this will be published elsewhere

Never really had problems with food from this place I guess waiting in the queue for a long amount of time is a bit frustrating but when it's busy then it's understandable. When picking up order or ordering inside food is nice and hot however at times the food has arrived slightly cold when getting a delivery. Which then means I have to reheat it so hence why only 3 stars but apart from that nice staff as well.

Absolutely horrendous service !!! Myself and my partner were at the front of the queue with one other person who had already ordered. It took 2 servers ( ppl that take orders) to make up her order while we were left to wait over 10 minutes. ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS PLACE no service and can't comment on the food because we just walked out !!!

Hamburger batter was like leather could hardly cut it with a knife! Obviously had been sitting in the hot oven for a good while.

When visiting Dunfermline yesterday I bought there 2 x fish & chips for my family... the worst started at night. My 3years old daughter started vomiting. It lasted half of the night. Together with my wife had stomachache problems. Each month we have fish&chips but never ever had such a problem after eating. Avoid this place! Response: Suggesting about leaving unsubstantiated comments? This is a very substantiated review. Definitely It wasn't a gastric virus what you trying to say... I understand you want to defend you business, but saying it was a gastric virus is really a bad excuse. I don't know if it was old oil used for frying or something else but please don't say ''it was nothing to do with your purchase''...

Waiting for more than hour n half on delivery called about 40mins ago to be told the driver is on the way I understand due to weather conditions. Roads kinda blocked. guys this is not the first time this happened in past no snow blocking roads so I suggest track and trace on deliveries be helpful letting customers know what's happening.

Have been using the golden chip for many years and will continue to do so. The batter is nice and thin and crispy not like some places that use a thick doughy batter. The fish is nicely cooked and you’re not overwhelmed with chips. There may be a slight wait when they are busy but it’s usually worth the wait.

Your fish and chips never fails to satisfy.

I have eaten here loads of times and it has always been lovely. however after using the delivery service for the first time tonight I won't again. After waiting 95 mins got delivered fish that was full of oil. The confermation email is misleading saying if your food is going to be more than an hour they will be in contact, it doesn't make reference to how long it says earlier in the ordering process. So yes if your going to eat here use collection only!

Been here a few times and it’s now our favourite place, fried chicken gorgeous and fresh with light batter, not too greasy. Pizzas are fab, great value for money and it’s super fast delivery. Can’t fault it, never been disappointed. Cheers!

This is our go to fish and chip shop and tonight we thought a delivery would be in order as we have the grandchildren staying - big mistake! Delivery due 5.30 - phoned 5.50 to chase advised they have an issue with delivery drivers and could be another 30 minutes - try telling that to hungry youngsters! Moral of the story for Golden chip if you have an issue with delivery drivers don't take delivery orders!!!! And for me go and stand in the queue is much quicker!

Amazing chip shop. Every time I’ve been the food is always on point. I grew up going here over the years and can not recall a single time the food was not perfect. Even if there’s a queue during busy times it’s still worth waiting in.
