The Fish Bar in North East Derbyshire

Usually very good...but....went today when they opened at tea time...chips and pie...pie was luke warm and the chips must have been cooked at lunchtime.... very poor....don't go when just opened at tea time....

Was so looking forward to this tonight and not ate any if my chips they was black and soggy like they been stood for hours, terrible never ever going there again and won't recommend, would like to have a response back and to have my money refunded, they shouldn't be selling chips like that!

Batter on the fish was soggy and most of it stuck to the paper. Very poor meal. Didn’t enjoy the peas

The food is good but the owner is very surly, it seems he is doing me a favour by serving me. In future I will not put another penny in his pocket, I'd rather drive a few miles to either Hasland or Wingerworth

Really good quality, hot fresh, value for money food, well worth a visit if you don't fancy cooking yourself

¡Este es "fish and chips" decente. ! ! ! Especial pescado Mini es suficiente para un adulto y viene con una salchicha de mini fishcake - no está mal para el precio. También hacer salsa curry chino así como normal. Utilice siempre este "fish and chips", mejor por aquí

Always use this chippy, and travel 10 mins to use it. Plenty of choice and very good deals. Staff always friendly with a smile.

I have used the fish bar quite a lot as they always seemed ok. The staff were affable to friendly. However tonight I was coppering up at the end of my pay month. I am diabetic amongst other illness'. I had gone to get a kebab but didnt quite have enough for a bag of chips. I had paid an extra 50p (maybe not a lot to you but it truly is at the moment to me) to have a naan bread. I had to wait longer than normal due to the meat not being quite done so they served other customers. There was a strong smell of burnt toast coming from the back then a loud scraping sound. I waited patiently with no complaint until all the customers were served. Then the chap that was frying brought my naan but without making it obvious and filled it with meat and salad. Nothing was said. Then the woman serving passed me a few chips in a wrapper and said it was because I was having to copper up. I thanked them and left. When I got home i found the reason for the burning and scraping. There was the burnt charcoal remains of a naan bread surrounding the kebab meat and salad. The entire meal tasted of burnt bread. The noise had been him scraping off the worst bits leaving a partial black and brown naan. I tried ringing numerous times in order for them to put this right but with no response. I will never use this chippy again. I have kept the naan and will be discussing with environmental health in the morning. By not eating my health has been adversely effected. I am disappointed that the member of staff that normally serves said nothing but disgusted in the sheer lack of consideration the fryer has shown for a customer. I have never been rude or impolite to these people and normally stand and chat. My advise is give a wide berth. If this is how they treat people god knows what else goes on behind the scenes. Poor does not come close. Shame on them.

Top quality food and cheap prices, would recommend. Always fresh and quick good service. Only downside is parking when it's busy.

This is basically a fish and chip shop with I think Greek owners.There is no seating area so all are take aways.As well as the fish and chips they also sell kebabs and chicken and salad.It has a 5 star hygiene rating which is visible by the eye and as it has been awarded 5 stars it must also be very clean behind the scenes.Also the fat is clean as one can smell old fat in a dirty shop.The fish is amazing.We usually have a run at having them every Friday then having a break for a bit then being naughty again.Because they are so great they do not seem to be dowsed in fat so are not calorie laden and I tend not to eat the batter anyway.I have asked before only for the fish to be lightly battered and this is great also and do not feel so guilty afterwards for being so indulgent.I usually go for them after Zumba do feel I have earned them.The staff are also pleasant and wear clean aprons and uniforms.
