Great lively place great music BUT oh dear me the bar staff need re training. The are two bars and lots of people waiting to be served you cannot just serve the person stood in front of you or just walk away into the other bar. Any bar staff worth their salt know who is next or who has been stood the longest. Surely the manager allocated certain staff for each bar. Although it was New Years Eve it wasn’t particularly busy.

Totally appreciate that we visited on a Saturday afternoon and this place is big on sports events with numerous big screen TV's around the place but why does the volume need to be so loud ?!! The market tavern is in a prime spot for being one of the local pubs that you go to for a good night out. It has an array of drinks and reasonable prices. Its been recently refurbished although done quite poorly. The womens toilets don't have locks on and there's a door missing off one of them, quite shoddy really. I used to enjoy going in for a boogie on a friday and saturday night however where we used to dance they now have tables in the way and i also noticed that on my way out there was another table right in my pathway for me to walk into, i can only assume that the present management are happy with it being a locals pub and are trying to turn it into something it isn't and never will be. Its a shame because it used to be great in the there with a good atmosphere, busy and an excellent crowd when watching the football. I know a lot of good people have parted with plenty of money over that bar, i hope the present management don't forget that its all about the customer and making a profit of course.

But came across the Market Tavern a few minutes later, and what a find! Greeted by a lovely dark haired lady (Jan?), extremely friendly who took our order and chatted. We had a full English cooked to our specifications, fantastic! Hot, tasty with everything we could ask, nothing was too much trouble. Very impressed and we've recommended there to several family who visit the area regularly. We asked about evening and were given a detailed list of what's on, we'll be there for cocktails on our next visit. Extremely large pub with a beautiful snug, spotless and incredibly friendly. We come into the Restaurant side today bearing in mind there was only one other family that had ordered just before us and no other customers at all in the restaurant we expected obviously a wait for our meals but not long a wait, we ordered a salad, sandwhich and a child's sausage and chips, 40 or so minutes later still nothing, was quite annoying, my partner went to check when the food would actually be out, while he was the pub side asking the Sanitary Bin wagon pulls up out front and the man proceeds to carry 2 sanitary bins through the whole of the small restaurant just skimming by all the tables, I was disgusted by this, they advised five more minutes on the food but by this point I'd waited and seen enough, we was refunded but we will not be going back there again

Last weekend, my wife and I decided to have a break from the family and have a night out in Cleethorpes. We booked into a B&B for the night and arrived in Cleethorpes early afternoon. As the B&B was near to the shops, bars and restaurants, we decided to have a look around. My wife wanted to try the shops while I found a bar in which to watch the six nations rugby and the Fiddler seemed a good bar to sit in with a cold beer while my wife shopped. When my wife returned, we decided to have a look at the menu as we were both hungry by this time. The menu had a good choice of food and at reasonable prices. The food was ordered and after a short wait ti was delivered to our table, where it was totally devoured and only the empty plates left. The service throughout the afternoon was pleasant from the bar staff and the kitchen staff and because of this, we decided to visit the Fiddler again in the evening and had a very good night due to the bar being quite full, with a good atmosphere and the DJ playing a good variety of music to cater for all tastes. We will definitely be visiting the Fiddler on our next visit to Cleethorpes.

Let it all out . Beer , Football Fans and near Xmas = Disaster .(especially in Clee Vegas ) We arrived back from our away game at Doncaster Rovers , slightly dejected in defeat . On entering The Fiddler we immediately established a raucous group of juveniles going through their vast array of Xmas tunes . The mood was Jolly , repeated doses of 'Twist and Shout 'kept the atmosphere jovial . . . However as more GTFC fans made their way back from Yorkshire it quickly became obvious it would all 'Kick Off' later on , which I was notified had been the case : A few of the Barnsley lads in a hospital bed , being fed through straws. So in summary : a good pub for locals , although wouldn't advise on Matchdays for Away' fans from absolutely anywhere .

Have used this pub for many years - however the last couple of months the service is dreadful - 3 times in the past few weeks we have walked out and gone elsewhere. Inefficient juvenile bar staff - not a clue - even when not busy. Sorry but new Manager needs to get his act together.I accept that there will be teething troubles when someone new takes over - but after all this time should be better.(I went in for a breakfast last month and had to wait exactly one hour - when it arrived it was swimming in grease - had had to pay as I ordered or would have left - there were only 6 other people in so not as if they were busy)Worst though was on Saturday Charity Night we had bought tickets for to try and buy a second drink @ 8.30 we waited 20 minutes - hence it was our last in there and we went elsewhere - along with quite a few others. Charity organisers had been assured that there would be plenty of staff on duty - Sadly not the case - such a shame. The event was profitable - but could have been much more so if so many folks had not felt the need to leave due to long wait at bar.

16 of us arrived here a few Sunday's ago and we wish we hadn't bothered! It was obvious from the moment we went to the bar that the service was going to bad! And it was, truly bad! It took them 2 and a half hours to bring out our meals as they could only manage 4 at a time, the Sunday lunch was aunt Bessie on a plate, the fish was disgusting and was just a lump of batter. We had also ordered a side of bread and butter to go with it and they had the cheek to serve us toast! It was toasted on one side so they had turned it over when we questioned it they said it was because they had tried to defrost the bread! They brought some more eventually but then it was red hot (microwaved) the whole meal was a joke from start to finish. Even the barmaid said at the end how was your meal or should I not ask! They told us they had a new chef on that day, but if that's true that should of been his first and last day! Will never return!

Called in here while visiting Cleethorpes, the pub is split into two halves with one side being a little bit lively and the other of a more snug affair, I opted for the latter. I just needed a quick bite to eat and didn't fancy paying restaurant prices. As it was a Monday evening they were running a special board with a selection of about four main meals at only £3.99 each! I duly ordered the steak and ale pie with chips and peas, not forgetting extra gravy. it arrived on a piping hot plate and was a generous portion so I quickly tucked in, to be honest probably not the tastiest pie I have had but it was still very acceptable, especially at that price. I would go back for another meal and can recommend it if a pub meal is what you are looking for.

The Fiddler used to be my family's local where we would visit often due to the great value for money and the friendly atmosphere. However, recently, our once favourite pub has been taken over by new management and is no longer what it used to be. Upon arrival, the tables were unclean and sticky, in need of wiping down. We then ordered 3 all day breakfasts. which took at least half an hour to be delivered to our table. Once the food finally arrived, none of the breakfasts had sausages on them, when the menu promised 2 per plate. This was much to our disappointment as our meal was incomplete. We decided not to complain about it at the time, since we had already waited long enough and did not want to wait any longer for the sausages to be cooked. After we'd eaten, we informed the staff of the mistake, at which they apologised and said they'd "been really busy today", when in fact, there were only 2 other tables full in the whole pub! My family and I are much disappointed since this used to be our favourite place to spend time together at weekends, so it is a shame that this has happened. We will not be visiting again.

Whenever we go to The Fiddler, we are welcomed by the staff. It is a cosy, no frills place with really cheap food. It has great grills and breakfasts with offers every day.

Good location right in the heart of Cleethorpes. Close to the beach and the local high street. Staff are warm and welcoming, great prices on beer and food which are both excellent. Awarded a five star hygiene rating. Separate dining room for families. Great atmosphere whether you visit in the day for a drink and to watch the sport (plenty of TV's and a big screen) Or for a lively night out with great music. This friendly pub is well worth a visit.

The fiddler is a great place for wonderful food at a good price. A great atmosphere to meet up with friends for a quiet drink or if you enjoy sport. The barstaff are always friendly and welcoming.

How can I put this politely? Oh I can't (but seeing as this is TripAdvisor, I'll try). This is THE friendliest pub in Cleethorpes, with good food, drink and a great atmosphere all day long.

We were hoping for a nice relaxing meal but actually were very disappointed. The music and sports overtake the bar and the meals were very poor

A fairly short review… They do an amazing caramel hot chocolate and the breakfast rolls were spot on! Dog friendly and very friendly staff. Plenty of choices for both food & drink.

I have been going to the potting shed for years and have always loved the food , but today when I ordered lasagna it was so small and in a tiny dish , I understand cutting back but it was the smallest lasagna I’ve every had .

In all my years as a member of trip advisor, this is the worst meal we've ever been served. The waitress appeared to be one of the owners and acted as if we didn't matter in her day. Ordered the fish and chips, which was more like corn pone with a piece of cod wedged in. Taste was horrible, presentation was worse. Ate one piece and gave up. Planned on a piece of gingerbread but was afraid to attempt a second serving of the food here. There are excellent restaurants in the Florence/Mapleton Oregon area, unfortunately this is not one. Avoid.

I’ve had a bad experience twice the first one I asked for 2 large sausage bun and the only 2 sausages in so it basically just bread. This time I asked for 2 sausage buns one with brown sauce one plaine just with sausage and they gave me 2 sausage and bacon with nothing on it’s like they made there own don’t go here.

Lovely snug pub on Cleethorpes Sea Front with lovely staff and punters. Even has pool tables and one of those mobile-controlled Jukeboxes. Shame it's so expensive! Over a fiver for a pint of Madri! Go one bar down to Willy's and you can get a pint of Becks for just over £4 or one of their local brews, or go up to the Fisherman's on Sea View Street and get a pint of local Docks Beers for the same price. Explains why the place is so empty during the week. I get the pub trade is struggling but as a Marston's pub you'd expect it to be a bit cheaper - it's Cleethorpes, not Brighton!
