We popped in here yesterday lunchtime having read the reviews on here. What a wonderful Spanish themed cafe! We chose the Spanish sharing platter for two @£22.00. The nice lady brought out a large plate of delights, Parma ham, chorizo slices, cherry tomatoes, manchego cheese, warm crusty bread, virgin olive oil and good balsamic. Also a dish of what we found out to be called Dirty Olives. These are tiny cornichons stuffed into a green olive. Also a few quarters of a large orange. Delicious. It all was, and there was plenty for us both. What we didn’t eat we took home in a little box. My husband had a bottle of beer and I had one too, but mine was non-alcoholic as I was driving. Hope to visit Laugharne again for an excuse to return.

We love this fabulous deli/café and have been coming here for a number of years when we’re on our annual holiday locally. We were recognised and warmly welcomed on entering and shown to an easily accessible table, amid brightly coloured tins, jars, packets from Spain, Italy, Portugal, France etc which decoratively sat on shelves, window sills, and hung from beams, posts. The menu is written in chalk on the wall on black chalk paint and is very rustic. John chose mushroom soup ‘the best I’ve ever tasted’ and a toasted ciabatta filled with salami and Jarlsberg with salad leaves. B and I selected meatless tapas dishes - pisto with egg; garlic mushrooms; aubergine fritters, all served piping hot. Our Spanish bread was so fresh, scrumptious and absorbent that we had to order extra to mop up egg, garlicky sauce and pisto jus. We were pleased to see that several local people popped in to buy their Italian cheese, to have a barista coffee or a local beer, and a slice of home made chocolate cake, as they discussed Laugharne issues - weather, housing, dogs, health. My expertly made cortado and B’s Americano were a delicious ending to our meal. We were far too full to eat pudding. We highly recommend this most lovely little lunch venue - it’s almost next to Browns Hotel and not far from Dylan and Caitlin Thomas’s Boat House and writing shed. We look forward to seeing you next year.

We popped in for a coffee and what a treat it was. It is a small cafe with a deli out the back, so the smells are amazing. The ginger cake was the best I've eaten in years and the slice of coffee cake was huge. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and it's clearly a hit with locals who too were chatty without being intrusive. We ended up leaving with some fabulous homemade pies (I would call them small quiches) which were delicious. Can't wait to pop in again.

Excellent fresh home cooked tapas food. Wonderful Friday night experience eating fresh tapas at the ferryman’s. Usually visit for the best coffee and cake in Laugharne but had the privilege to experience a tapas night. Delicious authentic tapas food cooked to perfection accompanied by very well priced Rioja from their store. Book in for Friday tapas or simply enjoy lunch , coffee or cakes. Highly recommended

There was an Blackboard outside advertising tapas on Friday and Saturday nights so we went straight in! There was loads of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, and the portions were generous. The staff were lovely and very attentive; the chef popped out too to welcome us. We didn’t buy anything from the deli, but the choice they had was great for such a little place. They were very covid secure and we felt safe. I highly recommend!

The Ferryman does tapas-style take away on Friday and Saturday nights, and hands down this is the best take away we’ve had in lockdown. We had some perfectly cooked Garlic and Chilli prawns, pork tenderloin, aubergine fritters, croquettes, seafood paella and it was terrific. Highly recommended.

Having struggled to find somewhere serving food on a Saturday afternoon, we were delighted to walk in to The Ferryman at around 3.30pm for a late lunch. The owner was extremely accommodating- The Ferryman was full, so although we had to wait a few minutes, she quickly prepared a table for us as soon as one table left. A local couple even offered us their table (giving up their wine!) so that we wouldn't miss out.The menu had a lot of options from soups to stews and baguettes and there were some great drinks options too. We shared an antipasti type dish for a starter (between 5) which really was a bargain at just £5. Wine was very reasonable at just £5 a glass and the meals were all under £10. We all agreed that our food was delicious- and as we couldn't actually manage it all, we were able to take doggy bags away! The owner and her son (who is the chef) were absolutely lovely and we had some great conversation and also met a local who invited us to an event the next day. This really added to the experience. When asked why were were visiting Laugharne, we mentioned our friends birthday and she was kindly offered a piece of ginger cake (which I had a bite of and can confirm it was delicious!).Be sure to check out the deli at the back with some amazing fresh and ambient Spanish products, as well as a selection of homemade cakes. This is a very relaxed place, and well worth the visit to absorb some local culture, as well as a spanish vibe!

We stumbled across this place by parking further out of the village centre and we are very glad we did. Lovely owners, very relaxed and passionate about their produce. Tom the owner clearly enjoys loves his job and his food is a labour of love. We only came in for coffe and came back after a castle visit for late lunch, three soups where on the menu and which were all simply delicious and well presented, my wife went for a ratatouille and couscous which was stunning. His mother made a delicious ginger and coffee cake. Brilliant little find, thanks for the amazing food.

The Ferryman is a friendly café with absolutely delicious food. We went there twice while we were camping in the area and the quality of all the dishes was first-rate. We ate a Moroccan lamb stew with couscous, a beef and chickpea stew with chorizo, a goats cheese and romesco toastie, and a beef and perl las pie. The last two dishes came with a beautiful salad that had been dressed so well. It is obvious that the chef, Tom, really cares about the detail of every plate of food. Being a deli, the ingredients are unusual and varied, which makes it the café to choose if you want tasty food. If you take the time to make the 5-min walk from Laugharne Castle, it'll be utterly worth it.

We have just been to The Ferryman for lunch with our 17month old daughter. The food was excellent, I had a steak baguette with wedges and coleslaw. It was a huge slab of sirloin perfectly cooked (medium/rare) in garlic butter between ciabatta. My wife had a chicken curry which came beautifully presented with rice, naan, mango chutney and raita. She loved it. We took ages to decide what to eat because the menu selection was so varied. Before our food arrived we had a pot of tea and a latte whilst our daughter, who was playing up a bit was kept entertained by some friendly customers on another table. Staff were great with her and we felt very comfortable in the relaxed environment. On the way out we ordered some soup to takeaway for tea and a piece of chocolate brownie from the deli counter. All this came to under £30 which was very reasonable. A great spot, we will certainly return if we are in the area again!

Would highly recommend this little deli if you're travelling to Laugharne. We travelled up from Cardiif, and popped in to see if they served anything vegan, to our surprise we were told that they always have a couple of (delicious sounding) vegan meals on the ever changing menu (there was an aubergine bake being prepared whilst we were there). We opted for paninis as it was lunch time - made with vegan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, rocket and chilli jam - they came with the most delicious salad and vegan slaw (made up fresh especially for us). One of the owners is vegan so it seems that they really understand vegan cuisine and are extremely accommodating. We had delicious coffees made with creamy oat milk. All of the produce is really top quality and it's run by such lovely people! We will definitely be back.

Friday Night Tapas was lush! We sampled almost everything on the menu and it was stunning! The pork and cockles dish is beautiful. The catfish cake was wonderfully crispy on the outside, soft and 'herby' on the inside. The chicken and chorizo stew is delicious and the chorizo does not overpower the flavour of the sauce. Maybe the chilli prawns could have done with a little more chilli but you can ask for that if you have a spice loving pallet. Everything was tasty and the options are varied whether you are vegetarian or a meat eater. Can't wait to go back!

The open sandwich seemed pricey on the menu but when it arrived I marvelled at the value for money. A plate crammed with greatness. The milkshake was delicious. Every member of staff took an interest in us and seemed rightfully proud of what they do here. Highly recommended.

Visited with my elderly Dad. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly with him, and made sure he understood the lunch options. The food was delicious, and paired with a great choice of ales and ciders.I will definitely be returning. Thanks!

There are several good reasons to visit Laugharne, but a visit to The Ferryman should be on high on every visitors list. We stayed at Browns Hotel (which should also be on that list) and the Ferryman is conveniently located just a few yards down the road. This wonderful establishment is primarily a deli - good enough reason in itself to visit - but tucked in behind the shop is a small (best to make a reservation) but cosy restaurant serving quite delicious food. The imaginative daily menu is displayed on chalk boards and provides something for every taste, the common theme being perfectly cooked and prepared dishes with the ingredients mainly sourced locally. I can personally recommend the ham & leek pie, and other members of our party enjoyed the hummus panini with Mediterranean roasted vegetables and salad. The house wine is excellent and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and efficient - a true Welsh welcome!

We visited here for lunch and were very glad we did. The staff were very friendly, the choice was excellent, prices reasonable and the food extra special. I highly recommend this little place and wish they would give some tips and cookery lessons to the Brown's Hotel !!

We stopped for lunch and I had a goats cheese baguette with sweet chilli jam. Possibly the tastiest sandwich I have ever had. Warm, fresh bread. Excellent. The coffee was also superb. This was not what I was expecting to find in a small Welsh village. I can't recommend it highly enough.
