The Fat Ox Hotel in North Tyneside

Found this pub on a weekend away trip, popped in for a pint, good lager & selection of other drinks, good traditional boozer with mod cons, very cheap drink, (2 pints for less than £6), bar staff very attentive & full of information. Went back on Saturday nt, and it had live music on, pub was busy, band were excellent, played old & new rock hits, atmosphere was great. Will definitely visit again if I'm down the way.

Typical "older man" pub, pretty nice and bright on the inside. Drinks are very reasonably priced, people are friendly and enjoying their conversations (attended during the daytimes). The only issue with the pub is that they allow Vaping inside. The barman was vaping as well as a patron next to us, which we didn't like as we don't smoke. Very off putting to be honest. And felt since the bar man was vaping, we couldn't ask the person next to us to stop so we left. They either need to have signs up saying vaping is allowed indoors or it's banned (which in all honesty, I thought was law not to smoke indoors). Would visit again if smoking wasn't happening inside.

Good pub but the old regulars that hog the pool table steal peoples money that they place down. I'll try again in 5 years when they're no longer around.

Always full, live music, a real community type of pub, brilliant.

Great old Whitley bay bar.. I always pop in when in the bay.. One of the last remaining old type watering houses that I still love visit.. There's something magic in these public houses.. Pleasant afternoon.

Came in to watch Arsenal vs City. And the place has TVs for everyone to take a look at no problem. Shame about the 0-0 but I got to see every part of the 0-0.

Sadly the outside of this pub is used by customers as an ashtray- it would be great to see the company who own the pub take responsibility for the litter outside this property put in place some appropriate places to dispose of cigarettes and show some pride in the environment and our town

We went to see the Howard Baker Band.. It was a fantastic afternoon with an amazing atmosphere.. We didn’t have food so can’t comment.. Very friendly bar would definitely go again..

Lovely oldie worldie pub friendly and welcoming atmosphere, in the centre of whitley bay. Cheap drink has background music and TV screens which has sports on. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone. Got a pool table

Good band playing Rock And Roll, There are many band that play here and a lot of them are very good

Very poor experience yesterday late afternoon from the blond girl with curly hair behind the bar but from previous times I know she has an attitude not fit for customer service ... ordered a glenfiddich to be told that they didn't have it which is fair enough and agreed on an alternative, came back latter and ordered the round again, forgetting about no glenfiddich, just to be served and I commented, you must have found a bottle and she didn't care ... at the end of the day I was given something I didn't order, l was not told and when I asked what is was I was told "if you don't like it you can leave'

Called in on a Saturday afternoon, full to the gunnels, standing room only then, 15 to 20 minutes later half full. A good old style pub to try at any time.

Dog friendly pub at good prices, no frills, which keeps the posers out. Proper drinkers bar with constant sport and music on tap.

After reading the reviews we decided to book for a Sunday roast, we were disappointed with the quality of the food. Maybe it was the time of day we had the meal. The staff were brilliant.

Such a lovely gem in the village. Food is sublime and proprietor Craig very welcoming. Love garden at the back also. Well worth a visit.

Not a good choice of beers, your OK if you don't want anything decent from a keg, like a good IPA or pale ale. Stick to the Dog and Rabbit if that's your bag.

A friend and I visited the Fat Oxo in Whitby Bay for the first time on Saturday the 14 September. Newly refurbished it had a busy, yet friendly atmosphere. Good selection is drinks, and the staff were extremely hard hard working without losing their friendliness, humourous banter. Regulars were keen to share their experience of the pub and local area. A good night, though we left before the live music
